   מַעֲנֶה־רַּךְma/a/NE-rakha soft answerיָשִׁיבya/SHIVturns awayחֵמָהche/MAwrathוּדְבַר־עֶצֶבu/de/VAR-E/tsevbut a grievous wordיַעֲלֶה־אָף׃ya/a/LE-afstirs up anger

   A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

   לְשׁוֹןle/SHONthe tongue ofחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMthe wiseתֵּיטִיבte/TIVmakes goodדָּעַתDA/atknowledgeוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofכְסִילִיםkhe/si/LIMfoolsיַבִּיעַyab/BI/apours outאִוֶּלֶת׃iv/VE/letfoolishness

   The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

   בְּכׇל־מָקוֹםbe/KHOL-ma/KOMin every placeעֵינֵיe/NEthe eyes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצֹפוֹתtso/FOTkeeping watch onרָעִיםra/IMthe evilוְטוֹבִים׃ve/to/VIMand the good

   The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

   מַרְפֵּאmar/PEa healingלָשׁוֹןla/SHONtongueעֵץetsis a tree ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוְסֶלֶףve/SE/lefbut perversenessבָּהּbain itשֶׁבֶרSHE/veris a breaking ofבְּרוּחַ׃be/RU/achin the spirit

   A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

   אֱוִילe/VILa foolיִנְאַץyin/ATSspurnsמוּסַרmu/SARthe instruction ofאָבִיוa/VIVhis fatherוְשֹׁמֵרve/sho/MERbut he who heedsתּוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatreproofיַעְרִים׃ya/RIMis prudent

   A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

   בֵּיתbetthe house ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousחֹסֶןCHO/senis treasureרָבravmuchוּבִתְבוּאַתu/vit/vu/ATbut in the income ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedנֶעְכָּרֶת׃ne/KA/retis trouble

   In the house of the righteous is much treasure: but in the revenues of the wicked is trouble.

   שִׂפְתֵיsif/TEthe lips ofחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMthe wiseיְזָרוּye/ZA/rudisperseדָעַתDA/atknowledgeוְלֵבve/LEVbut the heart ofכְּסִילִיםke/si/LIMfoolsלֹא־כֵן׃lo-khennot so

   The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

   זֶבַחZE/vachthe sacrifice ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATis an abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוּתְפִלַּתu/te/fil/LATbut the prayer ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightרְצוֹנוֹ׃re/tso/NOHis delight

   The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

9. 9

   תּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedוּמְרַדֵּףu/me/rad/DEFbut him who pursuesצְדָקָהtse/da/KArighteousnessיֶאֱהָב׃ye/e/HAVhe loves

   The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

10. 10

    מוּסָרmu/SARdisciplineרָעrais grievousלְעֹזֵבle/o/ZEVto him who forsakesאֹרַחO/rachthe wayשׂוֹנֵאso/NEhe who hatesתוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatreproofיָמוּת׃ya/MUTwill die

    Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die.

11. 11

    שְׁאוֹלShe/OLSheolוַאֲבַדּוֹןva/a/vad/DONand destructionנֶגֶדNE/gedare beforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַףafhow much moreכִּי־לִבּוֹתki-lib/BOTthe hearts ofבְּנֵי־אָדָם׃be/NE-a/DAMthe sons of men

    Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

12. 12

    לֹאlonotיֶאֱהַב־לֵץye/e/HAV-letsa scoffer lovesהוֹכֵחַho/KHE/achhim who reprovesלוֹloto himאֶל־חֲכָמִיםel-cha/kha/MIMto the wiseלֹאlonotיֵלֵךְ׃ye/LEKHhe goes

    A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

13. 13

    לֵבleva heartשָׂמֵחַsa/ME/achgladיֵיטִבye/TIVmakes cheerfulפָּנִיםpa/NIMthe faceוּבְעַצְּבַת־לֵבu/ve/ats/tse/VAT-levbut by sorrow of heartרוּחַRU/achthe spiritנְכֵאָה׃ne/khe/Ais broken

    A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

14. 14

    לֵבlevthe heart ofנָבוֹןna/VONthe discerningיְבַקֶּשׁ־דָּעַתye/vak/KESH-DA/atit seeks knowledge(ופני)vafanay[וּפִי]u/FIbut the mouth ofכְסִילִיםkhe/si/LIMfoolsיִרְעֶהyir/Efeeds onאִוֶּלֶת׃iv/VE/letfoolishness

    The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

15. 15

    כׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofעָנִיa/NIthe afflictedרָעִיםra/IMare evilוְטוֹב־לֵבve/TOV-levbut a glad heartמִשְׁתֶּהmish/TEhas a feastתָמִיד׃ta/MIDcontinually

    All the days of the afflicted are evil: but he that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

16. 16

    טוֹב־מְעַטtov-me/ATbetter is a littleבְּיִרְאַתbe/yir/ATin the fear ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵאוֹצָרme/o/TSARmore than treasureרָבravmuchוּמְהוּמָהu/me/HU/maand turmoilבוֹ׃vowith it

    Better is little with the fear of the LORD than great treasure and trouble therewith.

17. 17

    טוֹבtovbetter isאֲרֻחַתa/ru/CHATa dinner ofיָרָקya/RAKherbsוְאַהֲבָה־שָׁםve/a/ha/VA-shamwhere love isמִשּׁוֹרmish/SHORthan an oxאָבוּסa/VUSfattenedוְשִׂנְאָה־בוֹ׃ve/sin/A-voand hatred with it

    Better is a dinner of herbs where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith.

18. 18

    אִישׁisha man ofחֵמָהche/MAwrathיְגָרֶהye/ga/REstirs upמָדוֹןma/DONstrifeוְאֶרֶךְve/E/rekhbut slowאַפַּיִםap/PA/yimto angerיַשְׁקִיטyash/KITcalmsרִיב׃rivcontention

    A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.

19. 19

    דֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofעָצֵלa/TSELthe sluggardכִּמְשֻׂכַתkim/SU/khatlike a hedge ofחָדֶקCHA/dekthornsוְאֹרַחve/O/rachand the way ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightסְלֻלָה׃se/lu/LAis a highway

    The way of the slothful man is as an hedge of thorns: but the way of the righteous is made plain.

20. 20

    בֵּןbena sonחָכָםcha/KHAMwiseיְשַׂמַּח־אָבye/sam/MACH-avmakes a father gladוּכְסִילu/khe/SILbut a fool ofאָדָםa/DAMa manבּוֹזֶהbo/ZEdespisesאִמּוֹ׃im/MOhis mother

    A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

21. 21

    אִוֶּלֶתiv/VE/letfoolishnessשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAis joyלַחֲסַר־לֵבla/cha/SAR-levto him who lacks senseוְאִישׁve/ISHbut a man ofתְּבוּנָהte/vu/NAunderstandingיְיַשֶּׁר־לָכֶת׃ye/yash/SHER-LA/khetwalks straight

    Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.

22. 22

    הָפֵרha/FERfailמַחֲשָׁבוֹתma/cha/sha/VOTpurposesבְּאֵיןbe/ENwithoutסוֹדsodcounselוּבְרֹבu/ve/ROVbut with manyיוֹעֲצִיםyo/a/TSIMcounselorsתָּקוּם׃ta/KUMthey are established

    Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.

23. 23

    שִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyלָאִישׁla/ISHto the manבְּמַעֲנֵה־פִיוbe/ma/a/NE-fivin the answer of his mouthוְדָבָרve/da/VARand a wordבְּעִתּוֹbe/it/TOin its timeמַה־טּוֹב׃ma-tovhow good

    A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth: and a word spoken in due season, how good is it!

24. 24

    אֹרַחO/rachthe path ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeלְמַעְלָהle/MA/laupwardלְמַשְׂכִּילle/mas/KILfor the prudentלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatסוּרsurhe may turn fromמִשְּׁאוֹלmish/She/OLfrom Sheolמָטָּה׃MAT/tabelow

    The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

25. 25

    בֵּיתbetthe house ofגֵּאִיםge/IMthe proudיִסַּחyis/SACHtears downיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְיַצֵּבve/yats/TSEVbut He establishesגְּבוּלge/VULthe boundary ofאַלְמָנָה׃al/ma/NAa widow

    The LORD will destroy the house of the proud: but he will establish the border of the widow.

26. 26

    תּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTthe thoughts ofרָעraevilוּטְהֹרִיםu/te/ho/RIMbut pureאִמְרֵי־נֹעַם׃im/RE-NO/amare pleasant words

    The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD: but the words of the pure are pleasant words.

27. 27

    עֹכֵרo/KHERhe who troublesבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseבּוֹצֵעַbo/TSE/ahe who is greedy forבָּצַעBA/tsagainוְשׂוֹנֵאve/so/NEbut he who hatesמַתָּנֹתmat/ta/NOTbribesיִחְיֶה׃yich/YEhe shall live

    He that is greedy of gain troubleth his own house; but he that hateth gifts shall live.

28. 28

    לֵבlevthe heart ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousיֶהְגֶּהyeh/GEpondersלַעֲנוֹתla/a/NOTto answerוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיַבִּיעַyab/BI/apours outרָעוֹת׃ra/OTevils

    The heart of the righteous studieth to answer: but the mouth of the wicked poureth out evil things.

29. 29

    רָחוֹקra/CHOKfar isיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמֵרְשָׁעִיםmer/sha/IMfrom the wickedוּתְפִלַּתu/te/fil/LATbut the prayer ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיִשְׁמָע׃yish/MAHe hears

    The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

30. 30

    מְאוֹר־עֵינַיִםme/OR-e/NA/yimthe light of the eyesיְשַׂמַּח־לֵבye/sam/MACH-levrejoices the heartשְׁמוּעָהshe/mu/Aa reportטוֹבָהto/VAgoodתְּדַשֶּׁן־עָצֶם׃te/dash/SHEN-A/tsemmakes the bones fat

    The light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart: and a good report maketh the bones fat.

31. 31

    אֹזֶןO/zenthe earשֹׁמַעַתsho/MA/atthat listens toתּוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatthe reproof ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeבְּקֶרֶבbe/KE/revamongחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMthe wiseתָּלִין׃ta/LINit lodges

    The ear that heareth the reproof of life abideth among the wise.

32. 32

    פּוֹרֵעַpo/RE/ahe who ignoresמוּסָרmu/SARinstructionמוֹאֵסmo/ESdespisesנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulוְשׁוֹמֵעַve/sho/ME/abut he who heedsתּוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatreproofקוֹנֶהKO/negetsלֵּב׃levunderstanding

    He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding.

33. 33

    יִרְאַתyir/ATthe fear ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמוּסַרmu/SARis the instruction ofחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeכָבוֹדkha/VODgloryעֲנָוָה׃a/na/VAhumility

    The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility.
