   בֵּןbena sonחָכָםcha/KHAMwiseמוּסַרmu/SARthe instruction ofאָבava fatherוְלֵץve/LETSbut a scofferלֹא־שָׁמַעlo-sha/MAdoes not listen toגְּעָרָה׃ge/a/RAa rebuke

   A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

2. 2

   מִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIof fruit ofפִי־אִישׁfi-ishthe mouth of a manיֹאכַלyo/KHALhe shall eatטוֹבtovgoodוְנֶפֶשׁve/NE/feshbut the soul ofבֹּגְדִיםbog/DIMthe treacherousחָמָס׃cha/MASviolence

   A man shall eat good by the fruit of his mouth: but the soul of the transgressors shall eat violence.

   נֹצֵרno/TSERhe who guardsפִּיוpivhis mouthשֹׁמֵרsho/MERkeepsנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulפֹּשֵׂקpo/SEKhe who opens wideשְׂפָתָיוse/fa/TAYVhis lipsמְחִתָּה־לוֹ׃me/chit/TA-loruin is his

   He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

   מִתְאַוָּהmit/av/VAcravesוָאַיִןva/A/yinand has nothingנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulעָצֵלa/TSELthe sluggardוְנֶפֶשׁve/NE/feshbut the soul ofחָרֻצִיםcha/ru/TSIMthe diligentתְּדֻשָּׁן׃te/dush/SHANit will be made fat

   The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.

   דְּבַר־שֶׁקֶרde/VAR-SHE/kera lying wordיִשְׂנָאyis/NAhatesצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוְרָשָׁעve/ra/SHAand the wickedיַבְאִישׁyav/ISHacts loathsomelyוְיַחְפִּיר׃ve/yach/PIRand he may act shamefully

   A righteous man hateth lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and cometh to shame.

   צְדָקָהtse/da/KArighteousnessתִּצֹּרtits/TSORkeepsתׇּם־דָּרֶךְtom-DA/rekhthe blameless in the wayוְרִשְׁעָהve/rish/Aand wickednessתְּסַלֵּףte/sal/LEFoverthrowsחַטָּאת׃chat/TATthe sinner

   Righteousness keepeth him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthroweth the sinner.

   יֵשׁyeshthere isמִתְעַשֵּׁרmit/ash/SHERone who makes himself richוְאֵיןve/ENyet has nothingכֹּלkolat allמִתְרוֹשֵׁשׁmit/ro/SHESHone who makes himself poorוְהוֹןve/HONyet has wealthרָב׃ravgreat

   There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

   כֹּפֶרKO/fera ransomנֶפֶשׁ־אִישׁNE/fesh-ishof a man's lifeעׇשְׁרוֹosh/ROis his richesוְרָשׁve/RASHbut the poorלֹא־שָׁמַעlo-sha/MAhears noגְּעָרָה׃ge/a/RAa rebuke

   The ransom of a man's life are his riches: but the poor heareth not rebuke.

9. 9

   אוֹר־צַדִּיקִיםor-tsad/di/KIMthe light of the righteousיִשְׂמָחyis/MACHrejoicesוְנֵרve/NERand the lamp ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיִדְעָךְ׃yid/AKHit is extinguished

   The light of the righteous rejoiceth: but the lamp of the wicked shall be put out.

10. 10

    רַק־בְּזָדוֹןrak-be/za/DONonly by prideיִתֵּןyit/TENcomesמַצָּהmats/TSAcontentionוְאֶת־נוֹעָצִיםve/ET-no/a/TSIMbut with those who take adviceחׇכְמָה׃chokh/MAwisdom

    Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom.

11. 11

    הוֹןhonwealthמֵהֶבֶלme/HE/velfrom vanityיִמְעָטyim/ATit will become smallוְקֹבֵץve/ko/VETSbut he who gathersעַל־יָדal-yadby handיַרְבֶּה׃yar/BEshall multiply

    Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase.

12. 12

    תּוֹחֶלֶתto/CHE/lethopeמְמֻשָּׁכָהme/mush/sha/KHAdeferredמַחֲלָה־לֵבma/cha/LA-levmakes the heart sickוְעֵץve/ETSbut a tree ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeתַּאֲוָהta/a/VAis desireבָאָה׃va/Afulfilled

    Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

13. 13

    בָּזbazhe who despisesלְדָבָרle/da/VARthe wordיֵחָבֶלye/CHA/velbrings ruinלוֹloon himselfוִירֵאvi/REbut he who fearsמִצְוָהmits/VAthe commandmentהוּאhuheיְשֻׁלָּם׃ye/shul/LAMwill be rewarded

    Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.

14. 14

    תּוֹרַתto/RATthe teaching ofחָכָםcha/KHAMthe wiseמְקוֹרme/KORis a fountain ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeלָסוּרla/SURto departמִמֹּקְשֵׁיmim/MOK/shefrom snares ofמָוֶת׃MA/vetdeath

    The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

15. 15

    שֵׂכֶל־טוֹבSE/khel-tovgood understandingיִתֶּן־חֵןyit/TEN-chengives favorוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the way ofבֹּגְדִיםbog/DIMthe treacherousאֵיתָן׃e/TANis hard

    Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

16. 16

    כׇּל־עָרוּםkol-a/RUMevery prudent manיַעֲשֶׂהya/a/SEactsבְדָעַתve/DA/atwith knowledgeוּכְסִילu/khe/SILand a foolיִפְרֹשׂyif/ROSdisplaysאִוֶּלֶת׃iv/VE/letfoolishness

    Every prudent man dealeth with knowledge: but a fool layeth open his folly.

17. 17

    מַלְאָךְmal/AKHa messengerרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedיִפֹּלyip/POLfallsבְּרָעbe/RAin troubleוְצִירve/TSIRbut an envoyאֱמוּנִיםe/mu/NIMfaithfulמַרְפֵּא׃mar/PEis healing

    A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.

18. 18

    רֵישׁreshpovertyוְקָלוֹןve/ka/LONand shameפּוֹרֵעַpo/RE/ato him who ignoresמוּסָרmu/SARinstructionוְשֹׁמֵרve/sho/MERbut he who heedsתּוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatreproofיְכֻבָּד׃ye/khub/BADhe is honored

    Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured.

19. 19

    תַּאֲוָהta/a/VAdesireנִהְיָהnih/YAfulfilledתֶּעֱרַבte/e/RAVis sweetלְנָפֶשׁle/NA/feshto the soulוְתוֹעֲבַתve/to/a/VATbut an abomination toכְּסִילִיםke/si/LIMfoolsסוּרsuris to turnמֵרָע׃me/RAfrom evil

    The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

    (הלוך)halavakh[הוֹלֵךְ]ho/LEKHhe who walksאֶת־חֲכָמִיםet-cha/kha/MIMwith the wise(וחכם)vachakham[יֶחְכָּם]yech/KAMwill be wiseוְרֹעֶהve/ro/Ebut the companion ofכְסִילִיםkhe/si/LIMfoolsיֵרוֹעַ׃ye/RO/awill suffer harm

    He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

21. 21

    חַטָּאִיםchat/ta/IMsinnersתְּרַדֵּףte/rad/DEFpursuesרָעָהra/Aevilוְאֶת־צַדִּיקִיםve/ET-tsad/di/KIMbut the righteousיְשַׁלֶּם־טוֹב׃ye/shal/LEM-tovwill be repaid with good

    Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.

22. 22

    טוֹבtova good manיַנְחִילyan/CHILleaves an inheritanceבְּנֵי־בָנִיםbe/NE-va/NIMto his children's childrenוְצָפוּןve/tsa/FUNbut is stored upלַצַּדִּיקlats/tsad/DIKfor the righteousחֵילchelthe wealth ofחוֹטֵא׃cho/TEa sinner

    A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

23. 23

    רׇב־אֹכֶלrov-O/khelmuch foodנִירnirthe tillage ofרָאשִׁיםra/SHIMthe poorוְיֵשׁve/YESHand there isנִסְפֶּהnis/PEis swept awayבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutמִשְׁפָּט׃mish/PATjustice

    Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

24. 24

    חוֹשֵׂךְcho/SEKHhe who sparesשִׁבְטוֹshiv/TOhis rodשׂוֹנֵאso/NEhatesבְנוֹve/NOhis sonוְאֹהֲבוֹve/o/ha/VObut he who loves himשִׁחֲרוֹshi/cha/ROseeks him early withמוּסָר׃mu/SARdiscipline

    He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes.

25. 25

    צַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousאֹכֵלo/KHELeatsלְשֹׂבַעle/SO/vato the satisfying ofנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulוּבֶטֶןu/VE/tenand the belly ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתֶּחְסָר׃tech/SARis in want

    The righteous eateth to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.
