Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.

טוֹבtova good manיָפִיקya/FIKobtainsרָצוֹןra/TSONfavorמֵיְהֹוָהme-Adonaifrom the LORDוְאִישׁve/ISHbut a man ofמְזִמּוֹתme/zim/MOTevil schemesיַרְשִׁיעַ׃yar/SHI/aHe will condemn
A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD: but a man of wicked devices will he condemn.

לֹא־יִכּוֹןlo-yik/KONwill not be establishedאָדָםa/DAMa manבְּרֶשַׁעbe/RE/shaby wickednessוְשֹׁרֶשׁve/SHO/reshand the root ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousבַּל־יִמּוֹט׃bal-yim/MOTwill not be moved
A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

אֵשֶׁת־חַיִלE/shet-CHA/yila woman of valorעֲטֶרֶתa/TE/retis the crown ofבַּעְלָהּba/LAher husbandוּכְרָקָבu/khe/ra/KAVbut like rottennessבְּעַצְמוֹתָיוbe/ats/mo/TAYVin his bonesמְבִישָׁה׃me/vi/SHAis she who shames
A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his bones.

מַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTthe thoughts ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATare justתַּחְבֻּלוֹתtach/bu/LOTthe counsels ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedמִרְמָה׃mir/MAare deceit
The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

דִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe words ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedאֱרׇב־דָּםe/ROV-damlie in wait for bloodוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightיַצִּילֵם׃yats/tsi/LEMshall deliver them
The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

הָפוֹךְha/FOKHoverthrownרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedוְאֵינָםve/e/NAMand are no moreוּבֵיתu/VETbut the house ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיַעֲמֹד׃ya/a/MODshall stand
The wicked are overthrown, and are not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.

לְפִי־שִׂכְלוֹle/FI-sikh/LOaccording to his prudenceיְהֻלַּל־אִישׁye/hul/LAL-isha man shall be commendedוְנַעֲוֵה־לֵבve/na/a/VE-levbut the perverse of heartיִהְיֶהyih/YEshall beלָבוּז׃la/VUZdespised
A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.

טוֹבtovbetter isנִקְלֶהnik/LEone lightly esteemedוְעֶבֶדve/E/vedand a servantלוֹlofor himselfמִמִּתְכַּבֵּדmim/mit/kab/BEDthan he who honors himselfוַחֲסַר־לָחֶם׃va/cha/SAR-LA/chembut lacks bread
He that is despised, and hath a servant, is better than he that honoureth himself, and lacketh bread.

יוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousנֶפֶשׁNE/feshthe life ofבְּהֶמְתּוֹbe/hem/TOhis animalsוְרַחֲמֵיve/ra/cha/MEbut the compassion ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedאַכְזָרִי׃akh/za/RIis cruel
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

עֹבֵדo/VEDhe who tillsאַדְמָתוֹad/ma/TOhis landיִשְׂבַּע־לָחֶםyis/BA-LA/chemwill have plenty of breadוּמְרַדֵּףu/me/rad/DEFand one who pursuesרֵיקִיםre/KIMempty pursuitsחֲסַר־לֵב׃cha/SAR-levlacks sense
He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain persons is void of understanding.

חָמַדcha/MADcovetsרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedמְצוֹדme/TSODthe catch ofרָעִיםra/IMevil menוְשֹׁרֶשׁve/SHO/reshand the root ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיִתֵּן׃yit/TENyields
The wicked desireth the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.

בְּפֶשַׁעbe/FE/shaby the transgression ofשְׂפָתַיִםse/fa/TA/yimlipsמוֹקֵשׁmo/KESHis a snare ofרָעrathe evil manוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEbut escapesמִצָּרָהmits/tsa/RAfrom troubleצַדִּיק׃tsad/DIKthe righteous
The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

מִפְּרִיmip/pe/RIfrom the fruit ofפִי־אִישׁfi-ishthe mouth of a manיִשְׂבַּע־טוֹבyis/BA-tovis satisfied with goodוּגְמוּלu/ge/MULand the work ofיְדֵי־אָדָםye/DE-a/DAMhands of man(ישוב)yashavav[יָשִׁיב]ya/SHIVwill returnלוֹ׃loto him
A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.

דֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofאֱוִילe/VILa foolיָשָׁרya/SHARis rightבְּעֵינָיוbe/e/NAYVin his eyesוְשֹׁמֵעַve/sho/ME/abut he who listensלְעֵצָהle/e/TSAto adviceחָכָם׃cha/KHAMwise
The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.

אֱוִילe/VILa foolבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMat onceיִוָּדַעyiv/va/DAis knownכַּעְסוֹka/SOhis angerוְכֹסֶהve/kho/SEand one who concealsקָלוֹןka/LONshameעָרוּם׃a/RUMis prudent
A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covereth shame.

יָפִיחַya/FI/achhe who breathes outאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAtruthיַגִּידyag/GIDshall declareצֶדֶקTSE/dekwhat is rightוְעֵדve/EDand a witness ofשְׁקָרִיםshe/ka/RIMliesמִרְמָה׃mir/MAdeceit
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth righteousness: but a false witness deceit.

יֵשׁyeshthere isבּוֹטֶהbo/TEone who speaks rashlyכְּמַדְקְרוֹתke/mad/ke/ROTlike thrusts ofחָרֶבCHA/reva swordוּלְשׁוֹןu/le/SHONand the tongue ofחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMthe wiseמַרְפֵּא׃mar/PEis healing
There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

שְׂפַת־אֱמֶתse/FAT-e/METtruthful lipsתִּכּוֹןtik/KONwill be establishedלָעַדla/ADforeverוְעַד־אַרְגִּיעָהve/AD-ar/GI/abut only for a momentלְשׁוֹןle/SHONthe tongue ofשָׁקֶר׃SHA/kerlying
The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment.

מִרְמָהmir/MAdeceitבְּלֶב־חֹרְשֵׁיbe/LEV-CHOR/shein the heart of those who deviseרָעraevilוּלְיֹעֲצֵיu/le/yo/a/TSEbut to those who counselשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceשִׂמְחָה׃sim/CHAjoy
Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counsellors of peace is joy.

לֹא־יְאֻנֶּהlo-ye/un/NEno befallsלַצַּדִּיקlats/tsad/DIKto the righteousכׇּל־אָוֶןkol-A/venharmוּרְשָׁעִיםu/re/sha/IMand the wickedמָלְאוּma/le/Ushall be filled withרָע׃raevil
There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

תּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination beforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשִׂפְתֵי־שָׁקֶרsif/TE-SHA/kerare lying lipsוְעֹשֵׂיve/o/SEbut those who dealאֱמוּנָהe/mu/NAfaithfullyרְצוֹנוֹ׃re/tso/NOare His delight
Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight.

אָדָםa/DAMmanעָרוּםa/RUMprudentכֹּסֶהKO/seconcealsדָּעַתDA/atknowledgeוְלֵבve/LEVbut the heart ofכְּסִילִיםke/si/LIMfoolsיִקְרָאyik/RAproclaimsאִוֶּלֶת׃iv/VE/letfoolishness
A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.

יַד־חָרוּצִיםyad-cha/ru/TSIMthe hand of the diligentתִּמְשׁוֹלtim/SHOLwill ruleוּרְמִיָּהu/re/miy/YAbut the slack handתִּהְיֶהtih/YEshall beלָמַס׃la/MASforced labor
The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

דְּאָגָהde/a/GAworryבְלֶב־אִישׁve/LEV-ishin the heart of a manיַשְׁחֶנָּהyash/CHEN/namakes it stoopוְדָבָרve/da/VARbut a wordטוֹבtovgoodיְשַׂמְּחֶנָּה׃ye/sam/me/CHEN/namakes it glad
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.

יָתֵרya/TERis more excellentמֵרֵעֵהוּme/re/E/huthan his neighborצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the way ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתַּתְעֵם׃tat/EMit misleads them
The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.

לֹא־יַחֲרֹךְlo-ya/cha/ROKHdoes not roastרְמִיָּהre/miy/YAthe slothfulצֵידוֹtse/DOhis preyוְהוֹן־אָדָםve/HON-a/DAMbut the wealth of a manיָקָרya/KARpreciousחָרוּץ׃cha/RUTSis the diligent
The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious.

בְּאֹרַח־צְדָקָהbe/O/rach-tse/da/KAin the path of righteousnessחַיִּיםchay/YIMis lifeוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand the way ofנְתִיבָהֿne/ti/VAits pathאַל־מָוֶת׃al-MA/vetis no death
In the way of righteousness is life; and in the pathway thereof there is no death.
