   מֹאזְנֵיmo/ze/NEbalances ofמִרְמָהmir/MAdeceitתּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְאֶבֶןve/E/venand a weightשְׁלֵמָהshe/le/MAfullרְצוֹנוֹ׃re/tso/NOis His delight

   A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

2. 2

   בָּא־זָדוֹןba-za/DONpride comesוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOthen comesקָלוֹןka/LONshameוְאֶת־צְנוּעִיםve/ET-tse/nu/IMbut with the humble isחׇכְמָה׃chokh/MAwisdom

   When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

3. 3

   תֻּמַּתtum/MATthe integrity ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightתַּנְחֵםtan/CHEMshall guide themוְסֶלֶףve/SE/lefbut the crookedness ofבֹּגְדִיםbog/DIMthe treacherous[יְשׇׁדֵּם]׃ye/shod/DEMit destroys them

   The integrity of the upright shall guide them: but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.

4. 4

   לֹא־יוֹעִילlo-yo/ILnot profitsהוֹןhonwealthבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofעֶבְרָהev/RAfuryוּצְדָקָהu/tse/da/KAand righteousnessתַּצִּילtats/TSILdeliversמִמָּוֶת׃mim/MA/vetfrom death

   Riches profit not in the day of wrath: but righteousness delivereth from death.

   צִדְקַתtsid/KATrighteousness ofתָּמִיםta/MIMthe blamelessתְּיַשֵּׁרte/yash/SHERmakes straightדַּרְכּוֹdar/KOhis wayוּבְרִשְׁעָתוֹu/ve/rish/a/TOand by his wickednessיִפֹּלyip/POLfallsרָשָׁע׃ra/SHAthe wicked

   The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

   צִדְקַתtsid/KATrighteousness ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightתַּצִּילֵםtats/tsi/LEMit delivers themוּבְהַוַּתu/ve/hav/VATand by the craving ofבֹּגְדִיםbog/DIMthe treacherousיִלָּכֵדוּ׃yil/la/KHE/duthey are caught

   The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them: but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.

   בְּמוֹתbe/MOTin the death ofאָדָםa/DAMmanרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedתֹּאבַדto/VADis lostתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeוְתוֹחֶלֶתve/to/CHE/letand the expectation ofאוֹנִיםo/NIMof the unjustאָבָדָה׃a/VA/dait perishes

   When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth.

8. 8

   צַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousמִצָּרָהmits/tsa/RAfrom troubleנֶחֱלָץne/che/LATSis deliveredוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand comesרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedתַּחְתָּיו׃tach/TAYVin his stead

   The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

9. 9

   בְּפֶהbe/FEwith his mouthחָנֵףcha/NEFthe godlessיַשְׁחִתyash/CHITdestroysרֵעֵהוּre/E/huhis neighborוּבְדַעַתu/ve/DA/atand with knowledgeצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיֵחָלֵצוּ׃ye/cha/LE/tsuthey are delivered

   An hypocrite with his mouth destroyeth his neighbour: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

10. 10

    בְּטוּבbe/TUVon the goodness ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousתַּעֲלֹץta/a/LOTSexultsקִרְיָהkir/YAthe cityוּבַאֲבֹדu/va/a/VODand when perishרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedרִנָּה׃rin/NAthere is a shout

    When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

11. 11

    בְּבִרְכַּתbe/vir/KATby the blessing ofיְשָׁרִיםye/sha/RIMthe uprightתָּרוּםta/RUMis exaltedקָרֶתKA/reta cityוּבְפִיu/ve/FIand in the mouth ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתֵּהָרֵס׃te/ha/RESit is overthrown

    By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

12. 12

    בׇּז־לְרֵעֵהוּboz-le/re/E/huhe who despises his neighborחֲסַר־לֵבcha/SAR-levlacks senseוְאִישׁve/ISHand a manתְּבוּנוֹתte/vu/NOTof understandingיַחֲרִישׁ׃ya/cha/RISHhe will keep silent

    He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.

13. 13

    הוֹלֵךְho/LEKHhe who goes aboutרָכִילra/KHILas a talebearerמְגַלֶּה־סּוֹדme/gal/LE-sodreveals a secretוְנֶאֱמַן־רוּחַve/ne/e/MAN-RU/achand one faithful of spiritמְכַסֶּהme/khas/SEone who concealsדָבָר׃da/VARa thing

    A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

14. 14

    בְּאֵיןbe/ENwhere there is noתַּחְבֻּלוֹתtach/bu/LOTguidanceיִפׇּל־עָםyip/POL-amthe people fallוּתְשׁוּעָהu/te/shu/Aand safetyבְּרֹבbe/ROVin the multitude ofיוֹעֵץ׃yo/ETScounselors

    Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

15. 15

    רַע־יֵרוֹעַra-ye/RO/aevil he will sufferכִּי־עָרַבki-A/ravwhen he is surety forזָרzara strangerוְשֹׂנֵאve/so/NEand one who hatesתֹקְעִיםtok/IMstriking handsבּוֹטֵחַ׃bo/TE/achis secure

    He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

16. 16

    אֵשֶׁת־חֵןE/shet-chena gracious womanתִּתְמֹךְtit/MOKHgetsכָּבוֹדka/VODhonorוְעָרִיצִיםve/a/ri/TSIMand the ruthlessיִתְמְכוּ־עֹשֶׁר׃yit/me/KHU-O/sherget riches

    A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

17. 17

    גֹּמֵלgo/MELdoes good toנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulאִישׁisha man ofחָסֶדCHA/sedkindnessוְעֹכֵרve/o/KHERbut troublesשְׁאֵרוֹshe/e/ROhis own fleshאַכְזָרִי׃akh/za/RIthe cruel

    The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18. 18

    רָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedעֹשֶׂהo/SEearnsפְעֻלַּת־שָׁקֶרfe/ul/LAT-SHA/kerdeceptive wagesוְזֹרֵעַve/zo/RE/aand one who sowsצְדָקָהtse/da/KArighteousnessשֶׂכֶרSE/khera reward ofאֱמֶת׃e/METtruth

    The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

19. 19

    כֵּן־צְדָקָהken-tse/da/KAas righteousness leadsלְחַיִּיםle/chay/YIMto lifeוּמְרַדֵּףu/me/rad/DEFand one who pursuesרָעָהra/Aevilלְמוֹתוֹ׃le/mo/TOto his own death

    As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

20. 20

    תּוֹעֲבַתto/a/VATan abomination toיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִקְּשֵׁי־לֵבik/ke/SHE-levthe crooked of heartוּרְצוֹנוֹu/re/tso/NObut His delightתְּמִימֵיte/MI/methe blameless ofדָרֶךְ׃DA/rekhway

    They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

21. 21

    יָדyadhandלְיָדle/YADto handלֹא־יִנָּקֶהlo-yin/NA/kewill not go unpunishedרָּעrathe evil manוְזֶרַעve/ZE/rabut the offspring ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousנִמְלָט׃nim/LAThe will be delivered

    Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

22. 22

    נֶזֶםNE/zema ring ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldבְּאַףbe/AFin the snout ofחֲזִירcha/ZIRa pigאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanיָפָהya/FAbeautifulוְסָרַתve/SA/ratwho turns fromטָעַם׃ta/AMdiscretion

    As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

23. 23

    תַּאֲוַתta/a/VATdesire ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousאַךְ־טוֹבakh-tovis only goodתִּקְוַתtik/VATthe expectation ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedעֶבְרָה׃ev/RAis wrath

    The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

24. 24

    יֵשׁyeshthere isמְפַזֵּרme/faz/ZERone who scattersוְנוֹסָףve/no/SAFand increasesעוֹדodyetוְחֹשֵׂךְve/cho/SEKHand one who withholdsמִיֹּשֶׁרmiy/YO/sherwhat is rightאַךְ־לְמַחְסוֹר׃akh-le/mach/SORonly to want

    There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

25. 25

    נֶפֶשׁ־בְּרָכָהNE/fesh-be/ra/KHAthe generous soulתְדֻשָּׁןte/dush/SHANhe will be made fatוּמַרְוֶהu/mar/VEand he who watersגַּם־הוּאgam-hualso heיוֹרֶא׃yo/REshall be watered

    The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

26. 26

    מֹנֵעַMO/ne/aone who withholdsבָּרbargrainיִקְּבֻהוּyik/ke/VU/hucurse himלְאוֹםle/OMthe peopleוּבְרָכָהu/ve/ra/KHAand blessingלְרֹאשׁle/ROSHis on the head ofמַשְׁבִּיר׃mash/BIRone who sells grain

    He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.

27. 27

    שֹׁחֵרSHO/cherone who seeks diligentlyטוֹבtovgoodיְבַקֵּשׁye/vak/KESHseeksרָצוֹןra/TSONfavorוְדֹרֵשׁve/do/RESHbut he who seeksרָעָהra/Aevilתְבוֹאֶנּוּ׃te/vo/EN/nuit will come to him

    He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28. 28

    בּוֹטֵחַbo/TE/achhe who trustsבְּעׇשְׁרוֹbe/osh/ROin his richesהוּאhuheיִפּוֹלyip/POLshall fallוְכֶעָלֶהve/khe/a/LEbut like a leafצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיִפְרָחוּ׃yif/RA/chuthey will bud

    He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29. 29

    עֹכֵרo/KHERhe who troublesבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseיִנְחַל־רוּחַyin/CHAL-RU/achshall inherit the windוְעֶבֶדve/E/vedand a servantאֱוִילe/VILthe foolלַחֲכַם־לֵב׃la/cha/KHAM-levto the wise of heart

    He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.

30. 30

    פְּרִי־צַדִּיקpe/RI-tsad/DIKthe fruit of the righteousעֵץetsis a tree ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeוְלֹקֵחַve/lo/KE/achand he who winsנְפָשׁוֹתne/fa/SHOTsoulsחָכָם׃cha/KHAMis wise

    The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.

31. 31

    הֵןhenbeholdצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landיְשֻׁלָּםye/shul/LAMhe is rewardedאַףafhow much moreכִּי־רָשָׁעki-ra/SHAthe wickedוְחוֹטֵא׃ve/cho/TEand the sinner

    Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed in the earth: much more the wicked and the sinner.
