   The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.

   לֹא־יוֹעִילוּlo-yo/I/ludo not profitאוֹצְרוֹתots/ROTthe treasures ofרֶשַׁעRE/shawickednessוּצְדָקָהu/tse/da/KAand righteousnessתַּצִּילtats/TSILdeliversמִמָּוֶת׃mim/MA/vetfrom death

   Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.

   לֹא־יַרְעִיבlo-yar/IVwill not let go hungryיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנֶפֶשׁNE/feshthe soul ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוְהַוַּתve/hav/VATbut the craving ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיֶהְדֹּף׃yeh/DOFHe thrusts away

   The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.

   רָאשׁrashpoorעֹשֶׂהo/SEis he who worksכַף־רְמִיָּהkhaf-re/miy/YAwith a slack handוְיַדve/YADand the hand ofחָרוּצִיםcha/ru/TSIMthe diligentתַּעֲשִׁיר׃ta/a/SHIRmakes rich

   He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.

   אֹגֵרo/GERhe who gathersבַּקַּיִץbak/KA/yitsin the summerבֵּןbena sonמַשְׂכִּילmas/KILwho acts wiselyנִרְדָּםnir/DAMhe who sleepsבַּקָּצִירbak/ka/TSIRin the harvestבֵּןbena sonמֵבִישׁ׃me/VISHwho acts shamefully

   He that gathereth in summer is a wise son: but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causeth shame.

   בְּרָכוֹתbe/ra/KHOTblessingsלְרֹאשׁle/ROSHare on the head ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיְכַסֶּהye/khas/SEconcealsחָמָס׃cha/MASviolence

   Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

   זֵכֶרZE/kherthe remembrance ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousלִבְרָכָהliv/ra/KHAis for a blessingוְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיִרְקָב׃yir/KAVwill rot

   The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

8. 8

   חֲכַם־לֵבcha/KHAM-levthe wise in heartיִקַּחyik/KACHwill receiveמִצְוֺתmits/VOTcommandmentsוֶאֱוִילve/e/VILbut a fool ofשְׂפָתַיִםse/fa/TA/yimlipsיִלָּבֵט׃yil/la/VETwill be thrown down

   The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.

9. 9

   הוֹלֵךְho/LEKHhe who walksבַּתֹּםbat/TOMin integrityיֵלֶךְYE/lekhwalksבֶּטַחBE/tachsecurelyוּמְעַקֵּשׁu/me/ak/KESHand one who pervertsדְּרָכָיוde/ra/KHAYVhis waysיִוָּדֵעַ׃yiv/va/DE/awill be found out

   He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.

10. 10

    קֹרֵץko/RETShe who winksעַיִןA/yinthe eyeיִתֵּןyit/TENcausesעַצָּבֶתats/TSA/vetsorrowוֶאֱוִילve/e/VILand a fool ofשְׂפָתַיִםse/fa/TA/yimlipsיִלָּבֵט׃yil/la/VETwill be thrown down

    He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

    מְקוֹרme/KORa fountain ofחַיִּיםchay/YIMlifeפִּיpithe mouth ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיְכַסֶּהye/khas/SEconcealsחָמָס׃cha/MASviolence

    The mouth of a righteous man is a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.

    שִׂנְאָהsin/Ahatredתְּעֹרֵרte/o/RERstirs upמְדָנִיםme/da/NIMcontentionsוְעַלve/ALbut overכׇּל־פְּשָׁעִיםkol-pe/sha/IMall transgressionsתְּכַסֶּהte/khas/SEcoversאַהֲבָה׃a/ha/VAlove

    Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.

    בְּשִׂפְתֵיbe/sif/TEon the lips ofנָבוֹןna/VONthe discerningתִּמָּצֵאtim/ma/TSEis foundחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְשֵׁבֶטve/SHE/vetbut a rod isלְגֵוle/GEVfor the back ofחֲסַר־לֵב׃cha/SAR-levhim who lacks sense

    In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.

14. 14

    חֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMthe wiseיִצְפְּנוּ־דָעַתyits/pe/NU-DA/atlay up knowledgeוּפִי־אֱוִילu/FI-e/VILand the mouth of a foolמְחִתָּהme/chit/TAruin isקְרֹבָה׃ke/ro/VAnear

    Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.

15. 15

    הוֹןhonwealthעָשִׁירa/SHIRof the rich manקִרְיַתkir/YATa city ofעֻזּוֹuz/ZOhis strongמְחִתַּתme/chit/TATthe ruin ofדַּלִּיםdal/LIMthe poorרֵישָׁם׃re/SHAMis their poverty

    The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty.

    פְּעֻלַּתpe/ul/LATthe wages ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousלְחַיִּיםle/chay/YIMis to lifeתְּבוּאַתte/vu/ATthe produce ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedלְחַטָּאת׃le/chat/TATis to sin

    The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

    אֹרַחO/rachis a pathלְחַיִּיםle/chay/YIMto lifeשׁוֹמֵרsho/MERhe who keepsמוּסָרmu/SARinstructionוְעֹזֵבve/o/ZEVbut he who forsakesתּוֹכַחַתto/KHA/chatreproofמַתְעֶה׃mat/Egoes astray

    He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.

18. 18

    מְכַסֶּהme/khas/SEone who concealsשִׂנְאָהsin/Amaliceשִׂפְתֵי־שָׁקֶרsif/TE-SHA/kerhas lying lipsוּמוֹצִאu/mo/TSIand one who spreadsדִבָּהdib/BAa bad reportהוּאhuisכְסִיל׃khe/SILa fool

    He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.

19. 19

    בְּרֹבbe/ROVin the multitude ofדְּבָרִיםde/va/RIMwordsלֹאlonotיֶחְדַּל־פָּשַׁעyech/DAL-PA/shatransgression is lackingוְחוֹשֵׂךְve/cho/SEKHand one who withholdsשְׂפָתָיוse/fa/TAYVhis lipsמַשְׂכִּיל׃mas/KILis prudent

    In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.

20. 20

    כֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverנִבְחָרniv/CHARchoiceלְשׁוֹןle/SHONis the tongue ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousלֵבlevthe heart ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedכִּמְעָט׃kim/ATis worth little

    The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.

21. 21

    שִׂפְתֵיsif/TEthe lips ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousיִרְעוּyir/Ufeedרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוֶאֱוִילִיםve/e/vi/LIMand foolsבַּחֲסַר־לֵבba/cha/SAR-levfor lack of senseיָמוּתוּ׃ya/MU/tushall die

    The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.

22. 22

    בִּרְכַּתbir/KATthe blessing ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִיאhiit isתַעֲשִׁירta/a/SHIRit makes richוְלֹא־יוֹסִףve/LO-yo/SIFand He adds noעֶצֶבE/tsevgriefעִמָּהּ׃im/MAwith her

    The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.

23. 23

    כִּשְׂחוֹקkis/CHOKlike sportלִכְסִילlikh/SILfor a foolעֲשׂוֹתa/SOTto doזִמָּהzim/MAmischiefוְחׇכְמָהve/chokh/MAbut wisdomלְאִישׁle/ISHfor a man ofתְּבוּנָה׃te/vu/NAunderstanding

    It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

24. 24

    מְגוֹרַתme/go/RATthe dread ofרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedהִיאhiit isתְבוֹאֶנּוּte/vo/EN/nuit will come to himוְתַאֲוַתve/ta/a/VATand the desires ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousיִתֵּן׃yit/TENis granted

    The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.

25. 25

    כַּעֲבוֹרka/a/VORwhen passesסוּפָהsu/FAthe stormוְאֵיןve/ENthen is no moreרָשָׁעra/SHAthe wickedוְצַדִּיקve/tsad/DIKbut the righteousיְסוֹדye/SODhas a foundationעוֹלָם׃o/LAMeverlasting

    As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

26. 26

    כַּחֹמֶץka/CHO/metslike vinegarלַשִּׁנַּיִםlash/shin/NA/yimto the teethוְכֶעָשָׁןve/khe/a/SHANand like smokeלָעֵינָיִםla/e/NA/yimto the eyesכֵּןkenso isהֶעָצֵלhe/a/TSELthe sluggardלְשֹׁלְחָיו׃le/shol/CHAYVto those who send him

    As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to them that send him.

27. 27

    יִרְאַתyir/ATthe fear ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDתּוֹסִיףto/SIFprolongsיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוּשְׁנוֹתu/she/NOTbut the years ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתִּקְצֹרְנָה׃tik/TSOR/nathey will be short

    The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

28. 28

    תּוֹחֶלֶתto/CHE/letthe hope ofצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAis joyוְתִקְוַתve/tik/VATbut the hope ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתֹּאבֵד׃to/VEDshall perish

    The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.

29. 29

    מָעוֹזma/OZa strongholdלַתֹּםlat/TOMto the blamelessדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe way ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוּמְחִתָּהu/me/chit/TAbut ruinלְפֹעֲלֵיle/FO/a/leto the workers ofאָוֶן׃A/veniniquity

    The way of the LORD is strength to the upright: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.

30. 30

    צַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousלְעוֹלָםle/o/LAMforeverבַּל־יִמּוֹטbal-yim/MOTwill never be movedוּרְשָׁעִיםu/re/sha/IMand the wickedלֹאlonotיִשְׁכְּנוּ־אָרֶץ׃yish/ke/NU-A/retsdwell in the land

    The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.

31. 31

    פִּי־צַדִּיקpi-tsad/DIKthe mouth of the righteousיָנוּבya/NUVbrings forthחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוּלְשׁוֹןu/le/SHONand the tongue ofתַּהְפֻּכוֹתtah/pu/KHOTperversityתִּכָּרֵת׃tik/ka/RETshall be cut off

    The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.

32. 32

    שִׂפְתֵיsif/TEthe lips ofצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousיֵדְעוּןyed/UNknowרָצוֹןra/TSONwhat is acceptableוּפִיu/FIand the mouth ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedתַּהְפֻּכוֹת׃tah/pu/KHOTperversity

    The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked speaketh frowardness.
