   Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph: and these are the names of his daughters; Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

   And they stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, by the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying,

   אָבִינוּa/VI/nuour fatherמֵתmetdiedבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessוְהוּאve/HUand heלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAwas notבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongהָעֵדָהha/e/DAthe congregationהַנּוֹעָדִיםhan/no/a/DIMwho gathered themselves togetherעַל־יְהֹוָהal-Adonaiagainst the LORDבַּעֲדַת־קֹרַחba/A/DAT-KO/rachin the company of Korahכִּי־בְחֶטְאוֹki-ve/chet/Obut in his own sinמֵתmetdiedוּבָנִיםu/va/NIMand sonsלֹא־הָיוּlo-ha/YUthere were notלוֹ׃loto him

   Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not in the company of them that gathered themselves together against the LORD in the company of Korah; but died in his own sin, and had no sons.

   לָמָּהLAM/mawhyיִגָּרַעyig/ga/RAshould be taken awayשֵׁם־אָבִינוּshem-a/VI/nuthe name of our fatherמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofמִשְׁפַּחְתּוֹmish/pach/TOhis familyכִּיkibecauseאֵיןenthere is noלוֹloto himבֵּןbena sonתְּנָה־לָּנוּte/NA-LA/nugive usאֲחֻזָּהa/chuz/ZAa possessionבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brothers ofאָבִינוּ׃a/VI/nuour father

   Why should the name of our father be done away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give unto us therefore a possession among the brethren of our father.

   וַיַּקְרֵבvay/yak/REVand broughtמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶת־מִשְׁפָּטָןet-mish/pa/TANtheir caseלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

   כֵּןkenrightבְּנוֹתbe/NOTthe daughters ofצְלׇפְחָדTse/lof/CHADZelophehadדֹּבְרֹתdov/ROTspeakנָתֹןna/TONgiveתִּתֵּןtit/TENyou shall giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemאֲחֻזַּתa/chuz/ZATa possession ofנַחֲלָהna/cha/LAan inheritanceבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongאֲחֵיa/CHEthe brothers ofאֲבִיהֶםa/vi/HEMtheir fatherוְהַעֲבַרְתָּve/ha/a/var/TAand you shall cause to passאֶת־נַחֲלַתet-na/cha/LATthe inheritance ofאֲבִיהֶןa/vi/HENtheir fatherלָהֶן׃la/HENto them

   The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father's brethren; and thou shalt cause the inheritance of their father to pass unto them.

   וְאֶל־בְּנֵיve/EL-be/NEand to the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelתְּדַבֵּרte/dab/BERyou shall speakלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאִישׁisha manכִּי־יָמוּתki-ya/MUTif diesוּבֵןu/VENand sonאֵיןenthere is noלוֹloto himוְהַעֲבַרְתֶּםve/ha/a/var/TEMthen you shall cause to passאֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹet-na/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceלְבִתּוֹ׃le/vit/TOto his daughter

   And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then ye shall cause his inheritance to pass unto his daughter.

9. 9

   וְאִם־אֵיןve/IM-enand if there is noלוֹloto himבַּתbata daughterוּנְתַתֶּםu/ne/tat/TEMthen you shall giveאֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹet-na/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceלְאֶחָיו׃le/e/CHAYVto his brothers

   And if he have no daughter, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren.

10. 10

    וְאִם־אֵיןve/IM-enand if there is noלוֹloto himאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersוּנְתַתֶּםu/ne/tat/TEMthen you shall giveאֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹet-na/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceלַאֲחֵיla/a/CHEto the brothers ofאָבִיו׃a/VIVhis father

    And if he have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren.

    וְאִם־אֵיןve/IM-enand if there is noאַחִיםa/CHIMbrothersלְאָבִיוle/a/VIVto his fatherוּנְתַתֶּםu/ne/tat/TEMthen you shall giveאֶת־נַחֲלָתוֹet-na/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceלִשְׁאֵרוֹlish/e/ROto his kinsmanהַקָּרֹבhak/ka/ROVthat is nextאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמִמִּשְׁפַּחְתּוֹmim/mish/pach/TOof his familyוְיָרַשׁve/ya/RASHand he shall possessאֹתָהּo/TAitוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand it shall beלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְחֻקַּתle/chuk/KATa statute ofמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃et-Mo/SHEMoses

    And if his father have no brethren, then ye shall give his inheritance unto his kinsman that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it: and it shall be unto the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as the LORD commanded Moses.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesעֲלֵהa/LEgo upאֶל־הַרel-harinto the mountain ofהָעֲבָרִיםHa/a/va/RIMAbarimהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand seeאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have givenלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Get thee up into this mount Abarim, and see the land which I have given unto the children of Israel.

    וְרָאִיתָהve/ra/I/taand when you have seenאֹתָהּo/TAitוְנֶאֱסַפְתָּve/ne/e/saf/TAyou shall be gatheredאֶל־עַמֶּיךָel-am/ME/khato your peopleגַּם־אָתָּהgam-AT/tayou alsoכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנֶאֱסַףne/e/SAFwas gatheredאַהֲרֹןA/ha/RONAaronאָחִיךָ׃a/CHI/khayour brother

    And when thou hast seen it, thou also shalt be gathered unto thy people, as Aaron thy brother was gathered.

14. 14

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERbecauseמְרִיתֶםme/ri/TEMyou rebelled againstפִּיpimy wordבְּמִדְבַּר־צִןbe/Mid/BAR-tsinin the wilderness of Zinבִּמְרִיבַתbim/ri/VATin the strife ofהָעֵדָהha/e/DAthe congregationלְהַקְדִּישֵׁנִיle/hak/di/SHE/nito sanctify meבַמַּיִםvam/MA/yimat the watersלְעֵינֵיהֶםle/e/ne/HEMbefore their eyesהֵםhemthat isמֵי־מְרִיבַתmE-me/ri/VATthe waters of Meribah ofקָדֵשׁKa/DESHKadeshמִדְבַּר־צִן׃miD/BAR-tsinin the wilderness of Zin

    For ye rebelled against my commandment in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the congregation, to sanctify me at the water before their eyes: that is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,

16. 16

    יִפְקֹדyif/KODlet appointיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofהָרוּחֹתha/ru/CHOTof the spiritsלְכׇל־בָּשָׂרle/KHOL-ba/SARof all fleshאִישׁisha manעַל־הָעֵדָה׃al-ha/e/DAover the congregation

    Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,

17. 17

    אֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵאa/SHER-ye/TSEwho may go outלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoיָבֹאya/VOmay go inלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoיוֹצִיאֵםyo/tsi/EMmay lead them outוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoיְבִיאֵםye/vi/EMmay bring them inוְלֹאve/LOthat notתִהְיֶהtih/YEbeעֲדַתa/DATthe congregation ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכַּצֹּאןkats/TSONas sheepאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאֵין־לָהֶםen-la/HEMhave noרֹעֶה׃ro/Eshepherd

    Which may go out before them, and which may go in before them, and which may lead them out, and which may bring them in; that the congregation of the LORD be not as sheep which have no shepherd.

18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesקַח־לְךָkach-le/KHAtakeאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunson of Nunאִישׁisha manאֲשֶׁר־רוּחַa/SHER-RU/achthat the spiritבּוֹbois in himוְסָמַכְתָּve/sa/makh/TAand you will layאֶת־יָדְךָet-ya/de/KHAyour handעָלָיו׃a/LAYVupon him

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;

19. 19

    וְהַעֲמַדְתָּve/ha/a/mad/TAand setאֹתוֹo/TOhimלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֶלְעָזָרEl/a/ZAREleazarהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestוְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeכׇּל־הָעֵדָהkol-ha/e/DAall the congregationוְצִוִּיתָהve/tsiv/vi/TAand give chargeאֹתוֹo/TOhimלְעֵינֵיהֶם׃le/e/ne/HEMin their sight

    And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.

20. 20

    וְנָתַתָּהve/na/tat/TAand you shall putמֵהוֹדְךָme/hod/KHAsome of your honorעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatיִשְׁמְעוּyish/me/Umay obeyכׇּל־עֲדַתkol-a/DATall the congregation ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.

21. 21

    וְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeאֶלְעָזָרEl/a/ZAREleazarהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestיַעֲמֹדya/a/MODhe shall standוְשָׁאַלve/SHA/alwho shall askלוֹlofor himבְּמִשְׁפַּטbe/mish/PATafter the judgment ofהָאוּרִיםha/U/RIMthe Urimלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־פִּיוal-pivat his wordיֵצְאוּyets/Ushall they go outוְעַל־פִּיוve/AL-pivand at his wordיָבֹאוּya/VO/ushall they come inהוּאhuheוְכׇל־בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-be/NE-yis/ra/ELand all the children of Israelאִתּוֹit/TOwith himוְכׇל־הָעֵדָה׃ve/KHOL-ha/e/DAand all the congregation

    And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.

22. 22

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוַיַּעֲמִדֵהוּvay/ya/a/mi/DE/huand set himלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֶלְעָזָרEl/a/ZAREleazarהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestוְלִפְנֵיve/lif/NEand beforeכׇּל־הָעֵדָה׃kol-ha/e/DAall the congregation

    And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:

23. 23

    וַיִּסְמֹךְvay/yis/MOKHand laidאֶת־יָדָיוet-ya/DAYVhis handsעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himוַיְצַוֵּהוּvay/tsav/VE/huand gave him chargeכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERhad spokenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁה׃be/YAD-mo/SHEby the hand of Moses

    And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.
