   And it came to pass after the plague, that the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, saying,

   שְׂאוּse/Utakeאֶת־רֹאשׁet-roshthe sum ofכׇּל־עֲדַתkol-a/DATall the congregation ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמַעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersכׇּל־יֹצֵאkol-yo/TSEall who go outצָבָאtsa/VAto warבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

   Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers' house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.

   And Moses and Eleazar the priest spake with them in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

   Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.

   These are the families of the Reubenites: and they that were numbered of them were forty and three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

   And the sons of Pallu; Eliab.

   וּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand the sons ofאֱלִיאָבE/li/AVEliabנְמוּאֵלNe/mu/ELNemuelוְדָתָןve/Da/TANand Dathanוַאֲבִירָםva/A/vi/RAMand Abiramהוּא־דָתָןhu-Da/TANthis is that Dathanוַאֲבִירָםva/A/vi/RAMand Abiram(קרואי)karavy[קְרִיאֵי]ke/ri/Ewho were called ofהָעֵדָהha/e/DAthe congregationאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהִצּוּhits/TSUstroveעַל־מֹשֶׁהal-Mo/SHEagainst Mosesוְעַל־אַהֲרֹןve/AL-a/ha/RONand against Aaronבַּעֲדַת־קֹרַחba/A/DAT-KO/rachin the company of Korahבְּהַצֹּתָםbe/hats/tso/TAMwhen they stroveעַל־יְהֹוָה׃al-Adonaiagainst the LORD

   And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD:

    And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.

    Notwithstanding the children of Korah died not.

    The sons of Judah were Er and Onan: and Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan.

    These were the numbered of the children of Israel, six hundred thousand and a thousand seven hundred and thirty.

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

    לָאֵלֶּהla/EL/leto theseתֵּחָלֵקte/cha/LEKshall be dividedהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landבְּנַחֲלָהbe/na/cha/LAfor an inheritanceבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARaccording to the number ofשֵׁמוֹת׃she/MOTnames

    Unto these the land shall be divided for an inheritance according to the number of names.

54. 54

    לָרַבla/RAVto the manyתַּרְבֶּהtar/BEyou shall give moreנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceוְלַמְעַטve/lam/ATand to the fewתַּמְעִיטtam/ITyou shall give lessנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceאִישׁishto eachלְפִיle/FIaccording toפְקֻדָיוfe/ku/DAYVthose numbered of himיֻתַּןyut/TANshall be givenנַחֲלָתוֹ׃na/cha/la/TOhis inheritance

    To many thou shalt give the more inheritance, and to few thou shalt give the less inheritance: to every one shall his inheritance be given according to those that were numbered of him.

55. 55

    אַךְ־בְּגוֹרָלakh-be/go/RALonly by lotיֵחָלֵקye/cha/LEKshall be dividedאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landלִשְׁמוֹתlish/MOTaccording to the names ofמַטּוֹת־אֲבֹתָםmat/TOT-a/vo/TAMthe tribes of their fathersיִנְחָלוּ׃yin/CHA/luthey shall inherit

    Notwithstanding the land shall be divided by lot: according to the names of the tribes of their fathers they shall inherit.

56. 56

    עַל־פִּיal-piaccording toהַגּוֹרָלhag/go/RALthe lotתֵּחָלֵקte/cha/LEKshall be dividedנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceבֵּיןbenbetweenרַבravmanyלִמְעָט׃lim/ATand few

    According to the lot shall the possession thereof be divided between many and few.

57. 57

    וְאֵלֶּהve/EL/leand these areפְקוּדֵיfe/ku/DEthose who were numbered ofהַלֵּוִיhal/Le/VIthe Levitesלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםle/mish/pe/cho/TAMby their familiesלְגֵרְשׁוֹןle/Ger/SHONof Gershonמִשְׁפַּחַתmish/PA/chatthe family ofהַגֵּרְשֻׁנִּיhag/Ger/shun/NIthe GershonitesלִקְהָתLik/HATof Kohathמִשְׁפַּחַתmish/PA/chatthe family ofהַקְּהָתִיhak/Ke/ha/TIthe KohathitesלִמְרָרִיLim/ra/RIof Merariמִשְׁפַּחַתmish/PA/chatthe family ofהַמְּרָרִי׃ham/Me/ra/RIthe Merarites

    And these are they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites: of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites: of Merari, the family of the Merarites.

    These are the families of the Levites: the family of the Libnites, the family of the Hebronites, the family of the Mahlites, the family of the Mushites, the family of the Korathites. And Kohath begat Amram.

    וְשֵׁםve/SHEMand the name ofאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofעַמְרָםAm/RAMAmramיוֹכֶבֶדYo/KHE/vedJochebedבַּת־לֵוִיbat-Le/VIdaughter of Leviאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomיָלְדָהya/le/DAboreאֹתָהּo/TAherלְלֵוִיle/Le/VIto Leviבְּמִצְרָיִםbe/Mits/RA/yimin Egyptוַתֵּלֶדvat/TE/ledand she boreלְעַמְרָםle/Am/RAMto Amramאֶת־אַהֲרֹןet-A/ha/RONAaronוְאֶת־מֹשֶׁהve/ET-mo/SHEand Mosesוְאֵתve/ETandמִרְיָםMir/YAMMiriamאֲחֹתָם׃a/cho/TAMtheir sister

    And the name of Amram's wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

    וַיִּוָּלֵדvay/yiv/va/LEDand were bornלְאַהֲרֹןle/A/ha/RONto Aaronאֶת־נָדָבet-Na/DAVNadabוְאֶת־אֲבִיהוּאve/ET-a/vi/HUand Abihuאֶת־אֶלְעָזָרet-El/a/ZAREleazarוְאֶת־אִיתָמָר׃ve/ET-i/ta/MARand Ithamar

    And unto Aaron was born Nadab, and Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.

61. 61

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedנָדָבNa/DAVNadabוַאֲבִיהוּאva/A/vi/HUand Abihuבְּהַקְרִיבָםbe/hak/ri/VAMwhen they offeredאֵשׁ־זָרָהesh-za/RAstrange fireלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Nadab and Abihu died, when they offered strange fire before the LORD.

62. 62

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand wereפְקֻדֵיהֶםfe/ku/de/HEMthose numbered of themשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeוְעֶשְׂרִיםve/es/RIMand twentyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleמִבֶּן־חֹדֶשׁmib/BEN-CHO/deshfrom a month oldוָמָעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardכִּיkiforלֹאlonotהׇתְפָּקְדוּhot/pa/ke/DUwere they numberedבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכִּיkibecauseלֹא־נִתַּןlo-nit/TANwas given noלָהֶםla/HEMthemנַחֲלָהna/cha/LAinheritanceבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.

63. 63

    These are they that were numbered by Moses and Eleazar the priest, who numbered the children of Israel in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho.

64. 64

    וּבְאֵלֶּהu/ve/EL/lebut among theseלֹא־הָיָהlo-ha/YAthere was notאִישׁisha manמִפְּקוּדֵיmip/pe/ku/DEof those numbered byמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenפָּקְדוּpa/ke/DUthey numberedאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּמִדְבַּרbe/mid/BARin the wilderness ofסִינָי׃Si/NAYSinai

    But among these there was not a man of them whom Moses and Aaron the priest numbered, when they numbered the children of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai.

65. 65

    כִּי־אָמַרki-a/MARfor had saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָהֶםla/HEMto themמוֹתmotdieיָמֻתוּya/MU/tuthey shall dieבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessוְלֹא־נוֹתַרve/LO-no/TARand there was not leftמֵהֶםme/HEMof themאִישׁisha manכִּיkiexceptאִם־כָּלֵבIm-ka/LEVCalebבֶּן־יְפֻנֶּהben-Ye/fun/NEson of JephunnehוִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Joshuaבִּן־נוּן׃bin-Nunson of Nun

    For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.
