   And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

   וַיִּדַּרvay/yid/DARand vowedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelנֶדֶרNE/dera vowלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidאִם־נָתֹןim-na/TONif giveתִּתֵּןtit/TENyou will giveאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIinto my handוְהַחֲרַמְתִּיve/ha/cha/ram/TIthen I will utterly destroyאֶת־עָרֵיהֶם׃et-a/re/HEMtheir cities

   And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

   וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּקוֹלbe/KOLto the voice ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיִּתֵּןvay/yit/TENand delivered upאֶת־הַכְּנַעֲנִיet-Hak/ke/na/a/NIthe Canaaniteוַיַּחֲרֵםvay/ya/cha/REMand they utterly destroyedאֶתְהֶםet/HEMthemוְאֶת־עָרֵיהֶםve/ET-a/re/HEMand their citiesוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he calledשֵׁם־הַמָּקוֹםshem-ham/ma/KOMthe name of the placeחׇרְמָה׃Chor/MAHormah

   And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.

   וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand they set outמֵהֹרme/HORfrom Horהָהָרha/HARthe mountainדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby the way ofיַם־סוּףyam-Sufthe Red Seaלִסְבֹבlis/VOVto go aroundאֶת־אֶרֶץet-E/retsthe land ofאֱדוֹםE/DOMEdomוַתִּקְצַרvat/tik/TSARand grew impatientנֶפֶשׁ־הָעָםNE/fesh-ha/AMthe soul of the peopleבַּדָּרֶךְ׃bad/DA/rekhby the way

   And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

   וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMagainst Godוּבְמֹשֶׁהu/ve/Mo/SHEand against Mosesלָמָהla/MAwhyהֶעֱלִיתֻנוּhe/e/li/TU/nuhave you brought us upמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptלָמוּתla/MUTto dieבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessכִּיkiforאֵיןenthere is noלֶחֶםLE/chembreadוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמַיִםMA/yimwaterוְנַפְשֵׁנוּve/naf/SHE/nuand our soulקָצָהKA/tsaloathesבַּלֶּחֶםbal/LE/chemthe breadהַקְּלֹקֵל׃hak/ke/lo/KELworthless

   And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

   וַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand sentיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבָּעָםba/AMamong the peopleאֵת־הַנְּחָשִׁיםet-han/ne/cha/SHIMthe serpentsהַשְּׂרָפִיםhas/se/ra/FIMfieryוַיְנַשְּׁכוּvay/nash/she/KHUand they bitאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleמִיִּשְׂרָאֵל׃miy/Yis/ra/ELof Israel

   And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidחָטָאנוּcha/TA/nuwe have sinnedכִּי־דִבַּרְנוּki-dib/BAR/nufor we have spokenבַיהֹוָהba-Adonaiagainst the LORDוָבָךְva/VAKHand against youהִתְפַּלֵּלhit/pal/LELprayאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDוְיָסֵרve/ya/SERthat He take awayמֵעָלֵינוּme/a/LE/nufrom usאֶת־הַנָּחָשׁet-han/na/CHASHthe serpentוַיִּתְפַּלֵּלvay/yit/pal/LELand prayedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesבְּעַדbe/ADforהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

   Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

8. 8

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesעֲשֵׂהa/SEmakeלְךָle/KHAyouשָׂרָףsa/RAFa fiery serpentוְשִׂיםve/SIMand putאֹתוֹo/TOitעַל־נֵסal-neson a poleוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכׇּל־הַנָּשׁוּךְkol-han/na/SHUKHeveryone who is bittenוְרָאָהve/ra/Awhen he looksאֹתוֹo/TOitוָחָי׃va/CHAYshall live

   And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

   וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand madeמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesנְחַשׁne/CHASHa serpent ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeוַיְשִׂמֵהוּvay/si/ME/huand he put itעַל־הַנֵּסal-han/NESon the poleוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it came to passאִם־נָשַׁךְim-na/SHAKHif had bittenהַנָּחָשׁhan/na/CHASHthe serpentאֶת־אִישׁet-isha manוְהִבִּיטve/hib/BITwhen he lookedאֶל־נְחַשׁel-ne/CHASHto the serpent ofהַנְּחֹשֶׁתhan/ne/CHO/shetbronzeוָחָי׃va/CHAYhe lived

   And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

    וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand they set outבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבְּאֹבֹת׃be/O/VOTin Oboth

    And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.

11. 11

    וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand they set outמֵאֹבֹתme/O/VOTfrom Obothוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבְּעִיֵּיbe/Iy/YEat Iye-הָעֲבָרִיםha/a/va/RIMabarimבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEbeforeמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabמִמִּזְרַחmim/miz/RACHtoward the rising ofהַשָּׁמֶשׁ׃hash/SHA/meshthe sun

    And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.

    מִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereנָסָעוּna/SA/uthey set outוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבְּנַחַלbe/NA/chalin the valley ofזָרֶד׃ZA/redZered

    From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.

    מִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereנָסָעוּna/SA/uthey set outוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedמֵעֵבֶרme/E/veron the other side ofאַרְנוֹןAr/NONArnonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessהַיֹּצֵאhay/yo/TSEthat comes outמִגְּבֻלmig/ge/VULfrom the border ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe AmoriteכִּיkiforאַרְנוֹןAr/NONArnonגְּבוּלge/VULis the border ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabבֵּיןbenbetweenמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenהָאֱמֹרִי׃ha/E/mo/RIthe Amorite

    From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיֵאָמַרye/a/MARit is saidבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofמִלְחֲמֹתmil/cha/MOTthe wars ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־וָהֵבet-Va/HEVWahebבְּסוּפָהbe/Su/FAin Suphahוְאֶת־הַנְּחָלִיםve/ET-han/ne/cha/LIMand the valleys ofאַרְנוֹן׃Ar/NONArnon

    Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,

15. 15

    וְאֶשֶׁדve/E/shedand the slope ofהַנְּחָלִיםhan/ne/cha/LIMthe valleysאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנָטָהna/TAextendsלְשֶׁבֶתle/SHE/vetto the dwelling ofעָרArArוְנִשְׁעַןve/nish/ANand liesלִגְבוּלlig/VULupon the border ofמוֹאָב׃Mo/AVMoab

    And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

16. 16

    וּמִשָּׁםu/mish/SHAMand from thereבְּאֵרָהbe/E/rato Beerהִואhivthat isהַבְּאֵרhab/be/ERthe wellאֲשֶׁרa/SHERof whichאָמַרa/MARsaidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְמֹשֶׁהle/Mo/SHEto Mosesאֱסֹףe/SOFgatherאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְאֶתְּנָהve/et/te/NAand I will giveלָהֶםla/HEMthemמָיִם׃MA/yimwater

    And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

17. 17

    אָזazthenיָשִׁירya/SHIRsangיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־הַשִּׁירָהet-hash/shi/RAthe songהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisעֲלִיa/LIspring upבְאֵרve/ERO wellעֱנוּ־לָהּ׃e/NU-lasing to it

    Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:

18. 18

    בְּאֵרbe/ERthe wellחֲפָרוּהָcha/fa/RU/hathey dug itשָׂרִיםsa/RIMthe princesכָּרוּהָka/RU/hasank itנְדִיבֵיne/di/VEthe nobles ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleבִּמְחֹקֵקbim/cho/KEKwith the scepterבְּמִשְׁעֲנֹתָםbe/mish/a/no/TAMwith their stavesוּמִמִּדְבָּרu/mim/mid/BARand from the wildernessמַתָּנָה׃Mat/ta/NAto Mattanah

    The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:

19. 19

    וּמִמַּתָּנָהu/Mim/mat/ta/NAand from MattanahנַחֲלִיאֵלNa/cha/li/ELto Nahalielוּמִנַּחֲלִיאֵלu/Min/na/cha/li/ELand from Nahalielבָּמוֹת׃ba/MOTto Bamoth

    And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:

20. 20

    וּמִבָּמוֹתu/Mib/ba/MOTand from Bamothהַגַּיְאhag/GAYto the valleyאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבִּשְׂדֵהbis/DEin the country ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabרֹאשׁroshto the top ofהַפִּסְגָּהHap/pis/GAPisgahוְנִשְׁקָפָהve/nish/KA/fawhich looks downעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEuponהַיְשִׁימֹן׃hay/shi/MONthe wasteland

    And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.

21. 21

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמַלְאָכִיםmal/a/KHIMmessengersאֶל־סִיחֹןel-Si/CHONto Sihonמֶלֶךְ־הָאֱמֹרִיME/lekh-Ha/e/mo/RIking of the Amoritesלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

22. 22

    אֶעְבְּרָהe/be/RAlet me passבְאַרְצֶךָve/ar/TSE/khathrough your landלֹאlonotנִטֶּהnit/TEwill we turnבְּשָׂדֶהbe/sa/DEinto fieldוּבְכֶרֶםu/ve/KHE/remor into vineyardלֹאlonotנִשְׁתֶּהnish/TEwill we drinkמֵיmethe water ofבְאֵרve/ERa wellבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhby the way ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingנֵלֵךְne/LEKHwe will goעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁר־נַעֲבֹרa/SHER-na/a/VORwe have passedגְּבֻלֶךָ׃ge/vu/LE/khayour border

    Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king's high way, until we be past thy borders.

    וְלֹא־נָתַןve/LO-na/TANbut would not letסִיחֹןSi/CHONSihonאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelעֲבֹרa/VORpassבִּגְבֻלוֹbig/vu/LOthrough his borderוַיֶּאֱסֹףvay/ye/e/SOFbut gatheredסִיחֹןSi/CHONSihonאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּוֹet-kol-am/MOall his peopleוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהַמִּדְבָּרָהham/mid/BA/rainto the wildernessוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand he cameיָהְצָהYAH/tsato Jahazוַיִּלָּחֶםvay/yil/LA/chemand foughtבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELagainst Israel

    And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

    וַיַּכֵּהוּvay/yak/KE/huand struck himיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְפִי־חָרֶבle/FI-CHA/revby the edge of the swordוַיִּירַשׁvay/yi/RASHand possessedאֶת־אַרְצוֹet-ar/TSOhis landמֵאַרְנֹןme/Ar/NONfrom Arnonעַד־יַבֹּקad-Yab/BOKto Jabbokעַד־בְּנֵיad-be/NEto the children ofעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonכִּיkiforעַזazwas strongגְּבוּלge/VULthe border ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofעַמּוֹן׃Am/MONAmmon

    And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

25. 25

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֵת־כׇּל־הֶעָרִיםet-kol-he/a/RIMall the citiesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּכׇל־עָרֵיbe/KHOL-a/REin all the cities ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoriteבְּחֶשְׁבּוֹןbe/Chesh/BONin Heshbonוּבְכׇל־בְּנֹתֶיהָ׃u/ve/KHOL-be/no/TE/haand in all its villages

    And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.

    כִּיkiforחֶשְׁבּוֹןChesh/BONHeshbonעִירirthe city ofסִיחֹןSi/CHONSihonמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoriteהִואhivit wasוְהוּאve/HUand heנִלְחַםnil/CHAMhad foughtבְּמֶלֶךְbe/ME/lekhagainst the king ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONformerוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶת־כׇּל־אַרְצוֹet-kol-ar/TSOall his landמִיָּדוֹmiy/ya/DOout of his handעַד־אַרְנֹן׃ad-Ar/NONas far as Arnon

    For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUsayהַמֹּשְׁלִיםham/mosh/LIMthose who speak in proverbsבֹּאוּBO/ucomeחֶשְׁבּוֹןChesh/BONto Heshbonתִּבָּנֶהtib/ba/NElet be builtוְתִכּוֹנֵןve/tik/ko/NENand establishedעִירirthe city ofסִיחוֹן׃Si/CHONSihon

    Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:

28. 28

    כִּי־אֵשׁki-eshfor a fireיָצְאָהya/tse/Ahas gone outמֵחֶשְׁבּוֹןme/Chesh/BONfrom Heshbonלֶהָבָהle/ha/VAa flameמִקִּרְיַתmik/kir/YATfrom the city ofסִיחֹןSi/CHONSihonאָכְלָהa/khe/LAit has consumedעָרArAr ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabבַּעֲלֵיba/a/LEthe lords ofבָּמוֹתba/MOTthe high places ofאַרְנֹן׃Ar/NONArnon

    For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

    אוֹי־לְךָoy-le/KHAwoe to youמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabאָבַדְתָּa/VAD/tayou have perishedעַם־כְּמוֹשׁam-Ke/MOSHO people of Chemoshנָתַןna/TANhe has givenבָּנָיוba/NAYVhis sonsפְּלֵיטִםpe/le/TIMas fugitivesוּבְנֹתָיוu/ve/no/TAYVand his daughtersבַּשְּׁבִיתbash/she/VITinto captivityלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the king ofאֱמֹרִיE/mo/RIthe Amoritesסִיחוֹן׃Si/CHONSihon

    Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.

    וַנִּירָםvan/ni/RAMwe have shot at themאָבַדa/VADis perishedחֶשְׁבּוֹןChesh/BONHeshbonעַד־דִּיבֹןad-Di/VONas far as Dibonוַנַּשִּׁיםvan/nash/SHIMand we have laid wasteעַד־נֹפַחad-NO/fachas far as Nophahאֲשֶׁרׄa/SHERwhich reachesעַד־מֵידְבָא׃ad-Me/de/VAto Medeba

    We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.

31. 31

    וַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand dweltיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofהָאֱמֹרִי׃ha/E/mo/RIthe Amorite

    Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.

32. 32

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלְרַגֵּלle/rag/GELto spy outאֶת־יַעְזֵרet-Ya/ZERJazerוַיִּלְכְּדוּvay/yil/ke/DUand they tookבְּנֹתֶיהָbe/no/TE/haits villages(ויירש)vayayarash[וַיּוֹרֶשׁ]vay/YO/reshand drove outאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִיet-Ha/e/mo/RIthe Amoriteאֲשֶׁר־שָׁם׃a/SHER-shamwho were there

    And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

33. 33

    וַיִּפְנוּvay/yif/NUand they turnedוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand went upדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhby the way ofהַבָּשָׁןHab/ba/SHANBashanוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outעוֹגOgOgמֶלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁןME/lekh-Hab/ba/SHANthe king of Bashanלִקְרָאתָםlik/ra/TAMto meet themהוּאhuheוְכׇל־עַמּוֹve/KHOL-am/MOand all his peopleלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleאֶדְרֶעִי׃Ed/RE/iat Edrei

    And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

    וַיַּכּוּvay/yak/KUso they struckאֹתוֹo/TOhimוְאֶת־בָּנָיוve/ET-ba/NAYVand his sonsוְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּוֹve/ET-kol-am/MOand all his peopleעַד־בִּלְתִּיad-bil/TIuntil noneהִשְׁאִיר־לוֹhish/IR-lowas left himשָׂרִידsa/RIDremainingוַיִּירְשׁוּvay/yi/re/SHUand they possessedאֶת־אַרְצוֹ׃et-ar/TSOhis land

    So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
