   וַיִּסְעוּvay/yis/Uand they set outבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבְּעַרְבוֹתbe/ar/VOTin the plains ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabמֵעֵבֶרme/E/verbeyondלְיַרְדֵּןle/Yar/DENthe Jordanיְרֵחוֹ׃Ye/re/CHOat Jericho

   And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in the plains of Moab on this side Jordan by Jericho.

   וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakבֶּן־צִפּוֹרben-Tsip/PORson of Zipporאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהet-kol-a/SHER-a/SAall that had doneיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלָאֱמֹרִי׃la/E/mo/RIto the Amorites

   And Balak the son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites.

   וַיָּגׇרvay/YA/gorand was afraidמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyכִּיkibecauseרַב־הוּאrav-huthey were manyוַיָּקׇץvay/YA/kotsand was in dreadמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   And Moab was sore afraid of the people, because they were many: and Moab was distressed because of the children of Israel.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabאֶל־זִקְנֵיel-zik/NEto the elders ofמִדְיָןMid/YANMidianעַתָּהat/TAnowיְלַחֲכוּye/la/cha/KHUwill lick upהַקָּהָלhak/ka/HALthe companyאֶת־כׇּל־סְבִיבֹתֵינוּet-kol-se/vi/vo/TE/nuall that is round about usכִּלְחֹךְkil/CHOKHas licks upהַשּׁוֹרhash/SHORthe oxאֵת־יֶרֶקet-YE/rekthe grass ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוּבָלָקu/Va/LAKand Balakבֶּן־צִפּוֹרben-Tsip/PORson of ZipporמֶלֶךְME/lekhwas kingלְמוֹאָבle/Mo/AVof Moabבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִוא׃ha/HIVthat

   And Moab said unto the elders of Midian, Now shall this company lick up all that are round about us, as the ox licketh up the grass of the field. And Balak the son of Zippor was king of the Moabites at that time.

   He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:

   Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

   And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themלִינוּLI/nulodgeפֹהfohereהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/latonightוַהֲשִׁבֹתִיva/ha/shi/vo/TIand I will bring backאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouדָּבָרda/VARwordכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERmay speakיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֵלָיe/LAYto meוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUand stayedשָׂרֵי־מוֹאָבsa/RE-Mo/AVthe princes of Moabעִם־בִּלְעָם׃im-Bil/AMwith Balaam

   And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as the LORD shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמִיmiwho areהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith you

   And God came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMto GodבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakבֶּן־צִפֹּרben-Tsip/PORson of ZipporמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabשָׁלַחsha/LACHhas sentאֵלָי׃e/LAYto me

    And Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהַיֹּצֵאhay/yo/TSEthat has come outמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptוַיְכַסvay/KHASand it coversאֶת־עֵיןet-enthe face ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthעַתָּהat/TAnowלְכָהle/KHAcomeקָבָה־לִּיka/VA-licurse for meאֹתוֹo/TOhimאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsאוּכַלu/KHALI shall be ableלְהִלָּחֶםle/hil/LA/chemto fightבּוֹboagainst themוְגֵרַשְׁתִּיו׃ve/ge/rash/TIVand drive them out

    Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamלֹאlonotתֵלֵךְte/LEKHshall you goעִמָּהֶםim/ma/HEMwith themלֹאlonotתָאֹרta/ORshall you curseאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleכִּיkiforבָרוּךְva/RUKHblessedהוּא׃huthey are

    And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־שָׂרֵיel-sa/REto the princes ofבָלָקVa/LAKBalakלְכוּle/KHUgoאֶל־אַרְצְכֶםel-ar/tse/KHEMto your landכִּיkiforמֵאֵןme/ENrefusesיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְתִתִּיle/tit/TIto give me leaveלַהֲלֹךְla/ha/LOKHto goעִמָּכֶם׃im/ma/KHEMwith you

    And Balaam rose up in the morning, and said unto the princes of Balak, Get you into your land: for the LORD refuseth to give me leave to go with you.

    וַיָּקוּמוּvay/ya/KU/muand roseשָׂרֵיsa/REthe princes ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־בָּלָקel-Ba/LAKto Balakוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidמֵאֵןme/ENrefusesבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamהֲלֹךְha/LOKHto comeעִמָּנוּ׃im/MA/nuwith us

    And the princes of Moab rose up, and they went unto Balak, and said, Balaam refuseth to come with us.

15. 15

    וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand againעוֹדodyetבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakשְׁלֹחַshe/LO/achsentשָׂרִיםsa/RIMprincesרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyוְנִכְבָּדִיםve/nikh/ba/DIMand more honorableמֵאֵלֶּה׃me/EL/lethan these

    And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.

16. 16

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakבֶּן־צִפּוֹרben-Tsip/PORson of Zipporאַל־נָאal-naplease do notתִמָּנַעtim/ma/NAbe hinderedמֵהֲלֹךְme/ha/LOKHfrom comingאֵלָי׃e/LAYto me

    And they came to Balaam, and said to him, Thus saith Balak the son of Zippor, Let nothing, I pray thee, hinder thee from coming unto me:

17. 17

    כִּי־כַבֵּדki-khab/BEDfor honorאֲכַבֶּדְךָa/khab/bed/KHAI will honor youמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyוְכֹלve/KHOLand whateverאֲשֶׁר־תֹּאמַרa/SHER-to/MARyou sayאֵלַיe/LAYto meאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEI will doוּלְכָה־נָּאu/le/KHA-nacome therefore pleaseקָבָה־לִּיka/VA-licurse for meאֵת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    For I will promote thee unto very great honour, and I will do whatsoever thou sayest unto me: come therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people.

18. 18

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־עַבְדֵיel-av/DEto the servants ofבָלָקVa/LAKBalakאִם־יִתֶּן־לִיim-yit/TEN-liif would give meבָלָקVa/LAKBalakמְלֹאme/LOthe fullness ofבֵיתוֹve/TOhis houseכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALI canלַעֲבֹרla/a/VORgo beyondאֶת־פִּיet-pithe word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהָיe/lo/HAYmy Godלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doקְטַנָּהke/tan/NAlessאוֹoorגְדוֹלָה׃ge/do/LAmore

    And Balaam answered and said unto the servants of Balak, If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the word of the LORD my God, to do less or more.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשְׁבוּshe/VUstayנָאnapleaseבָזֶהva/ZEhereגַּם־אַתֶּםgam-at/TEMalso youהַלָּיְלָהhal/LAY/latonightוְאֵדְעָהve/ed/Athat I may knowמַה־יֹּסֵףma-yo/SEFwhat more willיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakעִמִּי׃im/MIwith me

    Now therefore, I pray you, tarry ye also here this night, that I may know what the LORD will say unto me more.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto BalaamלַיְלָהLAY/laat nightוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himאִם־לִקְרֹאim-lik/ROif to callלְךָle/KHAyouבָּאוּBA/uhave comeהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menקוּםkumriseלֵךְlekhgoאִתָּםit/TAMwith themוְאַךְve/AKHbut onlyאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁר־אֲדַבֵּרa/SHER-a/dab/BERwhich I speakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאֹתוֹo/TOitתַעֲשֶׂה׃ta/a/SEshall you do

    And God came unto Balaam at night, and said unto him, If the men come to call thee, rise up, and go with them; but yet the word which I shall say unto thee, that shalt thou do.

    וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand roseבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיַּחֲבֹשׁvay/ya/cha/VOSHand he saddledאֶת־אֲתֹנוֹet-a/to/NOhis donkeyוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentעִם־שָׂרֵיim-sa/REwith the princes ofמוֹאָב׃Mo/AVMoab

    And Balaam rose up in the morning, and saddled his ass, and went with the princes of Moab.

22. 22

    וַיִּחַר־אַףvay/YI/char-afand was kindled the anger ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכִּי־הוֹלֵךְki-ho/LEKHbecause goingהוּאhuhe wasוַיִּתְיַצֵּבvay/yit/yats/TSEVand stationed himselfמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayלְשָׂטָןle/sa/TANas an adversaryלוֹloagainst himוְהוּאve/HUnow heרֹכֵבro/KHEVwas ridingעַל־אֲתֹנוֹal-a/to/NOupon his donkeyוּשְׁנֵיu/she/NEand twoנְעָרָיוne/a/RAYVof his servantsעִמּוֹ׃im/MOwith him

    And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyאֶת־מַלְאַךְet-mal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandingבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוְחַרְבּוֹve/char/BOand his swordשְׁלוּפָהshe/lu/FAdrawnבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַתֵּטvat/TETand turned asideהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyמִן־הַדֶּרֶךְmin-had/DE/rekhout of the wayוַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand wentבַּשָּׂדֶהbas/sa/DEinto the fieldוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand struckבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamאֶת־הָאָתוֹןet-ha/a/TONthe donkeyלְהַטֹּתָהּle/hat/to/TAto turn herהַדָּרֶךְ׃had/DA/rekhinto the way

    And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.

    וַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּמִשְׁעוֹלbe/mish/OLin a narrow path ofהַכְּרָמִיםhak/ke/ra/MIMthe vineyardsגָּדֵרga/DERa wallמִזֶּהmiz/ZEon the one sideוְגָדֵרve/ga/DERand a wallמִזֶּה׃miz/ZEon the other side

    But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyאֶת־מַלְאַךְet-mal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתִּלָּחֵץvat/til/la/CHETSand pressed herselfאֶל־הַקִּירel-hak/KIRto the wallוַתִּלְחַץvat/til/CHATSand crushedאֶת־רֶגֶלet-RE/gelthe foot ofבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamאֶל־הַקִּירel-hak/KIRto the wallוַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand he againלְהַכֹּתָהּ׃le/hak/ko/TAstruck her

    And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.

    וַיּוֹסֶףvay/YO/sefand againמַלְאַךְ־יְהֹוָהmal/AKH-Adonaithe angel of the LORDעֲבוֹרa/VORwent onוַיַּעֲמֹדvay/ya/a/MODand stoodבְּמָקוֹםbe/ma/KOMin a placeצָרtsarnarrowאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhereאֵין־דֶּרֶךְen-DE/rekhthere was no wayלִנְטוֹתlin/TOTto turnיָמִיןya/MINto the rightוּשְׂמֹאול׃us/MOLor to the left

    And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.

    וַתֵּרֶאvat/TE/reand sawהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyאֶת־מַלְאַךְet-mal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַתִּרְבַּץvat/tir/BATSand she lay downתַּחַתTA/chatunderבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamוַיִּחַר־אַףvay/YI/char-afand was kindled the anger ofבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamוַיַּךְvay/YAKHand he struckאֶת־הָאָתוֹןet-ha/a/TONthe donkeyבַּמַּקֵּל׃bam/mak/KELwith the stick

    And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.

    וַיִּפְתַּחvay/yif/TACHand openedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־פִּיet-pithe mouth ofהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלְבִלְעָםle/Vil/AMto Balaamמֶה־עָשִׂיתִיme-a/SI/tiwhat have I doneלְךָle/KHAto youכִּיkithatהִכִּיתַנִיhik/ki/TA/niyou have struck meזֶהzetheseשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeרְגָלִים׃re/ga/LIMtimes

    And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamלָאָתוֹןla/a/TONto the donkeyכִּיkiforהִתְעַלַּלְתְּhit/al/LALTyou have mockedבִּיbimeלוּluwould thatיֶשׁ־חֶרֶבyesh-CHE/revthere were a swordבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIin my handכִּיkiforעַתָּהat/TAnowהֲרַגְתִּיךְ׃ha/rag/TIKHI would kill you

    And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamהֲלוֹאha/LOam notאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֲתֹנְךָa/ton/KHAyour donkeyאֲשֶׁר־רָכַבְתָּa/SHER-ra/KHAV/taon which you have riddenעָלַיa/LAYon meמֵעוֹדְךָme/od/KHAall your lifeעַד־הַיּוֹםad-hay/YOMto dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisהַהַסְכֵּןha/has/KENaccustomedהִסְכַּנְתִּיhis/KAN/tihave I been accustomedלַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doלְךָle/KHAto youכֹּהkosoוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹא׃lono

    And the ass said unto Balaam, Am not I thine ass, upon which thou hast ridden ever since I was thine unto this day? was I ever wont to do so unto thee? And he said, Nay.

    וַיְגַלvay/GALand uncoveredיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־עֵינֵיet-e/NEthe eyes ofבִלְעָםVil/AMBalaamוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawאֶת־מַלְאַךְet-mal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDנִצָּבnits/TSAVstandingבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhin the wayוְחַרְבּוֹve/char/BOand his swordשְׁלֻפָהshe/lu/FAdrawnבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַיִּקֹּדvay/yik/KODand he bowed his headוַיִּשְׁתַּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand fellלְאַפָּיו׃le/ap/PAYVon his face

    Then the LORD opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־מָהal-mawhyהִכִּיתָhik/KI/tahave you struckאֶת־אֲתֹנְךָet-a/ton/KHAyour donkeyזֶהzetheseשָׁלוֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeרְגָלִיםre/ga/LIMtimesהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIיָצָאתִיya/TSA/tihave come outלְשָׂטָןle/sa/TANas an adversaryכִּי־יָרַטki-ya/RATbecause is perverseהַדֶּרֶךְhad/DE/rekhthe wayלְנֶגְדִּי׃le/neg/DIbefore me

    And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, I went out to withstand thee, because thy way is perverse before me:

33. 33

    וַתִּרְאַנִיvat/tir/A/niand saw meהָאָתוֹןha/a/TONthe donkeyוַתֵּטvat/TETand turned asideלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meזֶהzetheseשָׁלֹשׁsha/LOSHthreeרְגָלִיםre/ga/LIMtimesאוּלַיu/LAYunlessנָטְתָהna/te/TAshe had turned asideמִפָּנַיmip/pa/NAYfrom my faceכִּיkisurelyעַתָּהat/TAnowגַּם־אֹתְכָהgam-ot/KHAyou alsoהָרַגְתִּיha/RAG/tiI would have killedוְאוֹתָהּve/o/TAand herהֶחֱיֵיתִי׃he/che/YE/tiI would have saved alive

    And the ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and saved her alive.

34. 34

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamאֶל־מַלְאַךְel-mal/AKHto the angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tiI have sinnedכִּיkiforלֹאlonotיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewכִּיkithatאַתָּהat/TAyouנִצָּבnits/TSAVstoodלִקְרָאתִיlik/ra/TIto meet meבַּדָּרֶךְbad/DA/rekhin the wayוְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowאִם־רַעim-raif it is evilבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesאָשׁוּבָהa/SHU/vaI will returnלִּי׃liback

    And Balaam said unto the angel of the LORD, I have sinned; for I knew not that thou stoodest in the way against me: now therefore, if it displease thee, I will get me back again.

35. 35

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamלֵךְlekhgoעִם־הָאֲנָשִׁיםim-ha/a/na/SHIMwith the menוְאֶפֶסve/E/fesbut onlyאֶת־הַדָּבָרet-had/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁר־אֲדַבֵּרa/SHER-a/dab/BERwhich I speakאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youאֹתוֹo/TOthatתְדַבֵּרte/dab/BERshall you speakוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamעִם־שָׂרֵיim-sa/REwith the princes ofבָלָק׃Va/LAKBalak

    And the angel of the LORD said unto Balaam, Go with the men: but only the word that I shall speak unto thee, that thou shalt speak. So Balaam went with the princes of Balak.

36. 36

    וַיִּשְׁמַעvay/yish/MAand heardבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakכִּיkithatבָאvahad comeבִלְעָםVil/AMBalaamוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand went outלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himאֶל־עִירel-irto the city ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isעַל־גְּבוּלal-ge/VULon the border ofאַרְנֹןAr/NONArnonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבִּקְצֵהbik/TSEat the edge ofהַגְּבוּל׃hag/ge/VULthe border

    And when Balak heard that Balaam was come, he went out to meet him unto a city of Moab, which is in the border of Arnon, which is in the utmost coast.

37. 37

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakאֶל־בִּלְעָםel-Bil/AMto Balaamהֲלֹאha/LOdid notשָׁלֹחַsha/LO/achsendשָׁלַחְתִּיsha/LACH/tiI sentאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youלִקְרֹא־לָךְlik/RO-lakhto call youלָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹא־הָלַכְתָּlo-ha/LAKH/tadid you not comeאֵלָיe/LAYto meהַאֻמְנָםha/um/NAMindeedלֹאlonotאוּכַלu/KHALam I ableכַּבְּדֶךָ׃kab/be/DE/khato honor you

    And Balak said unto Balaam, Did I not earnestly send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?

38. 38

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamאֶל־בָּלָקel-Ba/LAKto Balakהִנֵּה־בָאתִיhin/NE-VA/tibehold I have comeאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youעַתָּהat/TAnowהֲיָכֹלha/ya/KHOLableאוּכַלu/KHALam I ableדַּבֵּרdab/BERto speakמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatיָשִׂיםya/SIMputsאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodבְּפִיbe/FIin my mouthאֹתוֹo/TOthatאֲדַבֵּר׃a/dab/BERshall I speak

    And Balaam said unto Balak, Lo, I am come unto thee: have I now any power at all to say any thing? the word that God putteth in my mouth, that shall I speak.

39. 39

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentבִּלְעָםBil/AMBalaamעִם־בָּלָקim-Ba/LAKwith Balakוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameקִרְיַתKir/YATto Kiriath-חֻצוֹת׃chu/TSOThuzoth

    And Balaam went with Balak, and they came unto Kirjath-huzoth.

40. 40

    וַיִּזְבַּחvay/yiz/BACHand he sacrificedבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakבָּקָרba/KARoxenוָצֹאןva/TSONand sheepוַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHand sentלְבִלְעָםle/Vil/AMto Balaamוְלַשָּׂרִיםve/las/sa/RIMand to the princesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereאִתּוֹ׃it/TOwith him

    And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and sent to Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.

41. 41

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַבֹּקֶרvab/BO/kerin the morningוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakאֶת־בִּלְעָםet-Bil/AMBalaamוַיַּעֲלֵהוּvay/ya/a/LE/huand brought him upבָּמוֹתba/MOTto Bamoth-בָּעַלBA/albaalוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereקְצֵהke/TSEthe end ofהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    And it came to pass on the morrow, that Balak took Balaam, and brought him up into the high places of Baal, that thence he might see the utmost part of the people.
