Numbers 19 בְּמִדְבַּר פרק י״ט

   וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesוְאֶל־אַהֲרֹןand Aaronלֵאמֹר׃saying

   And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

   זֹאתthisחֻקַּתa statute ofהַתּוֹרָהthe Lawאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהwhich commandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDלֵאמֹרsayingדַּבֵּרspeakאֶל־בְּנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְיִקְחוּand let them takeאֵלֶיךָto youפָרָהa heiferאֲדֻמָּהredתְּמִימָהwithout blemishאֲשֶׁרwhichאֵין־בָּהּthere is no in itמוּםblemishאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־עָלָהnot ascendedעָלֶיהָupon itעֹל׃yoke

   This is the ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke:

   וּנְתַתֶּםand you will giveאֹתָהּitאֶל־אֶלְעָזָרto Eleazarהַכֹּהֵןthe priestוְהוֹצִיאand he shall bring outאֹתָהּitאֶל־מִחוּץto withoutלַמַּחֲנֶהthe campוְשָׁחַטand he shall slaughterאֹתָהּitלְפָנָיו׃before him

   And ye shall give her unto Eleazar the priest, that he may bring her forth without the camp, and one shall slay her before his face:

4. 4

   וְלָקַחand takeאֶלְעָזָרEleazarהַכֹּהֵןthe priestמִדָּמָהּsome of its bloodבְּאֶצְבָּעוֹwith his fingerוְהִזָּהand he will spatterאֶל־נֹכַחtowardפְּנֵיface ofאֹהֶל־מוֹעֵדtent of the congregationמִדָּמָהּsome of its bloodשֶׁבַעsevenפְּעָמִים׃times

   And Eleazar the priest shall take of her blood with his finger, and sprinkle of her blood directly before the tabernacle of the congregation seven times:

   וְשָׂרַףand he will burnאֶת־הַפָּרָהthe cowלְעֵינָיוin his sightאֶת־עֹרָהּits skinוְאֶת־בְּשָׂרָהּand its fleshוְאֶת־דָּמָהּand its bloodעַל־פִּרְשָׁהּupon its offalיִשְׂרֹף׃he will burn

   And one shall burn the heifer in his sight; her skin, and her flesh, and her blood, with her dung, shall he burn:

   וְלָקַחand takeהַכֹּהֵןthe priestעֵץa treeאֶרֶזcedarוְאֵזוֹבand hyssopוּשְׁנִיand scarlet ofתוֹלָעַתwormוְהִשְׁלִיךְand shall castאֶל־תּוֹךְdown intoשְׂרֵפַתthe burning ofהַפָּרָה׃the cow

   And the priest shall take cedar wood, and hyssop, and scarlet, and cast it into the midst of the burning of the heifer.

7. 7

   וְכִבֶּסand he will washבְּגָדָיוhis garmentsהַכֹּהֵןthe priestוְרָחַץand he will washבְּשָׂרוֹhis fleshבַּמַּיִםin the waterוְאַחַרand thenיָבֹאshall comeאֶל־הַמַּחֲנֶהto the campוְטָמֵאand he shall be uncleanהַכֹּהֵןthe priestעַד־הָעָרֶב׃until the evening

   Then the priest shall wash his clothes, and he shall bathe his flesh in water, and afterward he shall come into the camp, and the priest shall be unclean until the even.

8. 8

   וְהַשֹּׂרֵףand the one who burnsאֹתָהּitיְכַבֵּסhe shall washבְּגָדָיוhis garmentsבַּמַּיִםin the waterוְרָחַץand he will washבְּשָׂרוֹhis fleshבַּמָּיִםin the waterוְטָמֵאand he shall be uncleanעַד־הָעָרֶב׃until the evening

   And he that burneth her shall wash his clothes in water, and bathe his flesh in water, and shall be unclean until the even.

9. 9

   וְאָסַףand shall assembleאִישׁa manטָהוֹרcleanאֵת־אֵפֶרthe ashes ofהַפָּרָהthe cowוְהִנִּיחַand he will deposit themמִחוּץwithoutלַמַּחֲנֶהthe campבְּמָקוֹםin a placeטָהוֹרcleanוְהָיְתָהand it beלַעֲדַתto the congregation ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלsons of Israelלְמִשְׁמֶרֶתto be keptלְמֵיto the waters ofנִדָּהimpurityחַטָּאתsinהִוא׃it is

   And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin.

10. 10

    וְכִבֶּסand he will washהָאֹסֵףthe one who gathersאֶת־אֵפֶרthe ashes ofהַפָּרָהthe cowאֶת־בְּגָדָיוhis garmentsוְטָמֵאand he shall be uncleanעַד־הָעָרֶבuntil the eveningוְהָיְתָהand it beלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְלַגֵּרand to the sojournerהַגָּרthe one who sojournsבְּתוֹכָםamong themלְחֻקַּתto a statute ofעוֹלָם׃eternal

    And he that gathereth the ashes of the heifer shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: and it shall be unto the children of Israel, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among them, for a statute for ever.

    הַנֹּגֵעַthe one who touchesבְּמֵתa dead bodyלְכׇל־נֶפֶשׁto all soulאָדָםmanוְטָמֵאand he shall be uncleanשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days

    He that toucheth the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days.

12. 12

    הוּאheיִתְחַטָּא־בוֹhe will purify himself with itבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthe thirdוּבַיּוֹםand in the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhיִטְהָרhe will be pureוְאִם־לֹאand if notיִתְחַטָּאhe will purify himselfבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthe thirdוּבַיּוֹםand in the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhלֹאnotיִטְהָר׃he will be pure

    He shall purify himself with it on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean.

    כׇּל־הַנֹּגֵעַall the one who touchesבְּמֵתa dead bodyבְּנֶפֶשׁthe corpse ofהָאָדָםthe manאֲשֶׁר־יָמוּתwho diesוְלֹאand notיִתְחַטָּאhe will purify himselfאֶת־מִשְׁכַּןthe tabernacle ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDטִמֵּאhe had defiledוְנִכְרְתָהand shall be cut offהַנֶּפֶשׁthe soulהַהִואthatמִיִּשְׂרָאֵלfrom Israelכִּיbecauseמֵיthe waters ofנִדָּהimpurityלֹא־זֹרַקnot it was sprinkledעָלָיוupon himטָמֵאuncleanיִהְיֶהshall beעוֹדany moreטֻמְאָתוֹhis uncleannessבוֹ׃in it

    Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.

14. 14

    זֹאתthisהַתּוֹרָהthe Lawאָדָםmanכִּי־יָמוּתif he shall dieבְּאֹהֶלin the tent ofכׇּל־הַבָּאall that comesאֶל־הָאֹהֶלto the tentוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרand all whichבָּאֹהֶלin the tentיִטְמָאhe shall be uncleanשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days

    This is the law, when a man dieth in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days.

15. 15

    וְכֹלand allכְּלִיthe vesselפָתוּחַopenאֲשֶׁרwhichאֵין־צָמִידthere is no cover ofפָּתִילa cordעָלָיוupon itטָמֵאuncleanהוּא׃it

    And every open vessel, which hath no covering bound upon it, is unclean.

16. 16

    וְכֹלand allאֲשֶׁר־יִגַּעwhich he will touchעַל־פְּנֵיupon the face ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldבַּחֲלַל־חֶרֶבone slain by the swordאוֹorבְמֵתa dead bodyאוֹ־בְעֶצֶםor a bone ofאָדָםmanאוֹorבְקָבֶרa graveיִטְמָאhe shall be uncleanשִׁבְעַתsevenיָמִים׃days

    And whosoever toucheth one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days.

17. 17

    וְלָקְחוּand they will takeלַטָּמֵאfor the uncleanמֵעֲפַרthe dust ofשְׂרֵפַתthe burning ofהַחַטָּאתthe sinוְנָתַןand he shall giveעָלָיוupon itמַיִםwaterחַיִּיםlivingאֶל־כֶּלִי׃to a vessel

    And for an unclean person they shall take of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put thereto in a vessel:

18. 18

    וְלָקַחand takeאֵזוֹבhyssopוְטָבַלand he will dipבַּמַּיִםin the waterאִישׁa manטָהוֹרcleanוְהִזָּהand he will spatterעַל־הָאֹהֶלupon the tentוְעַל־כׇּל־הַכֵּלִיםand upon all the vesselsוְעַל־הַנְּפָשׁוֹתand upon the soulsאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיוּ־שָׁםwere thereוְעַל־הַנֹּגֵעַand upon the one who touchesבַּעֶצֶםthe boneאוֹorבֶחָלָלthe one slainאוֹorבַמֵּתthe dead bodyאוֹorבַקָּבֶר׃the grave

    And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave:

19. 19

    וְהִזָּהand he will spatterהַטָּהֹרthe cleanעַל־הַטָּמֵאupon the uncleanבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁלִישִׁיthe thirdוּבַיּוֹםand in the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhוְחִטְּאוֹand he will cleanse from sin himבַּיּוֹםin the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיthe seventhוְכִבֶּסand he will washבְּגָדָיוhis garmentsוְרָחַץand he will washבַּמַּיִםin the waterוְטָהֵרand he shall be cleanבָּעָרֶב׃in the evening

    And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at even.

20. 20

    וְאִישׁand a manאֲשֶׁר־יִטְמָאwhich he shall be uncleanוְלֹאand notיִתְחַטָּאhe will purify himselfוְנִכְרְתָהand shall be cut offהַנֶּפֶשׁthe soulהַהִואthatמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהַקָּהָלthe assemblyכִּיbecauseאֶת־מִקְדַּשׁthe sanctuary ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDטִמֵּאhad defiledמֵיthe waters ofנִדָּהimpurityלֹא־זֹרַקnot it was sprinkledעָלָיוupon himטָמֵאuncleanהוּא׃it

    But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he hath defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.

21. 21

    וְהָיְתָהand it beלָהֶםto themלְחֻקַּתto a statute ofעוֹלָםeternalוּמַזֵּהand the one who spattersמֵי־הַנִּדָּהthe waters of impurityיְכַבֵּסhe shall washבְּגָדָיוhis garmentsוְהַנֹּגֵעַand the one who touchesבְּמֵיin the waters ofהַנִּדָּהthe impurityיִטְמָאhe shall be uncleanעַד־הָעָרֶב׃until the evening

    And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkleth the water of separation shall wash his clothes; and he that toucheth the water of separation shall be unclean until even.

22. 22

    וְכֹלand allאֲשֶׁר־יִגַּע־בּוֹwhich he touchesהַטָּמֵאthe uncleanיִטְמָאhe shall be uncleanוְהַנֶּפֶשׁand the soulהַנֹּגַעַתthat touchesתִּטְמָאshe will be uncleanעַד־הָעָרֶב׃until the evening

    And whatsoever the unclean person toucheth shall be unclean; and the soul that toucheth it shall be unclean until even.
