   וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃saying

   And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

   אֱמֹרsayאֶל־אֶלְעָזָרto Eleazarבֶּן־אַהֲרֹןson of Aaronהַכֹּהֵןthe priestוְיָרֵםand let him take upאֶת־הַמַּחְתֹּתthe fire pansמִבֵּיןfrom betweenהַשְּׂרֵפָהthe burningוְאֶת־הָאֵשׁand the fireזְרֵה־הָלְאָהscatter yonderכִּיforקָדֵשׁוּ׃they are holy

   Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.

   אֵת־מַחְתּוֹתcensersהַחַטָּאִיםthe sinnersהָאֵלֶּהtheseבְּנַפְשֹׁתָםby their livesוְעָשׂוּand let them makeאֹתָםthemרִקֻּעֵיbeaten out ofפַחִיםthin platesצִפּוּיoverlayלַמִּזְבֵּחַfor the altarכִּי־הִקְרִיבֻםbecause they brought near themלִפְנֵי־יְהֹוָהbefore the LORDוַיִּקְדָּשׁוּand they became holyוְיִהְיוּand they wereלְאוֹתfor a signלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.

   וַיִּקַּחand tookאֶלְעָזָרEleazarהַכֹּהֵןthe priestאֵת־מַחְתּוֹתcensersהַנְּחֹשֶׁתthe brassאֲשֶׁרwhichהִקְרִיבוּthey offeredהַשְּׂרֻפִיםthe ones who were burnedוַיְרַקְּעוּםand they beat them outצִפּוּיoverlayלַמִּזְבֵּחַ׃for the altar

   And Eleazar the priest took the brasen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:

   זִכָּרוֹןremembranceלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelלְמַעַןin order thatאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יִקְרַבnot will draw nearאִישׁa manזָרan outsiderאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotמִזֶּרַעfrom the seed ofאַהֲרֹןAaronהוּאheלְהַקְטִירto burnקְטֹרֶתincenseלִפְנֵיbeforeיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהand shall have no moreכְקֹרַחlike Korahוְכַעֲדָתוֹand as his companyכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּרspokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּיַד־מֹשֶׁהin the hand of Mosesלוֹ׃to him

   To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.

   וַיִּלֹּנוּand they murmuredכׇּל־עֲדַתall congregation ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלsons of Israelמִמׇּחֳרָתon the next dayעַל־מֹשֶׁהupon Mosesוְעַל־אַהֲרֹןand upon Aaronלֵאמֹרsayingאַתֶּםyou areהֲמִתֶּםyou have killedאֶת־עַםpeople ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.

   וַיְהִיand it came to passבְּהִקָּהֵלwhen assembledהָעֵדָהthe congregationעַל־מֹשֶׁהupon Mosesוְעַל־אַהֲרֹןand upon Aaronוַיִּפְנוּand they turnedאֶל־אֹהֶלto the tent ofמוֹעֵדthe congregationוְהִנֵּהand beholdכִסָּהוּit covered itהֶעָנָןthe cloudוַיֵּרָאand appearedכְּבוֹדthe glory ofיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

   And it came to pass, when the congregation was gathered against Moses and against Aaron, that they looked toward the tabernacle of the congregation: and, behold, the cloud covered it, and the glory of the LORD appeared.

   וַיָּבֹאand cameמֹשֶׁהMosesוְאַהֲרֹןand Aaronאֶל־פְּנֵיto the face ofאֹהֶלthe tent ofמוֹעֵד׃the congregation

   And Moses and Aaron came before the tabernacle of the congregation.

9. 9

   וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃saying

   And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

    הֵרֹמּוּget you upמִתּוֹךְfrom the midst ofהָעֵדָהthe congregationהַזֹּאתthisוַאֲכַלֶּהand I make an endאֹתָםthemכְּרָגַעlike a momentוַיִּפְּלוּand they fellעַל־פְּנֵיהֶם׃upon their faces

    Get you up from among this congregation, that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶל־אַהֲרֹןto Aaronקַחtakeאֶת־הַמַּחְתָּהthe censerוְתֶן־עָלֶיהָand give upon itאֵשׁfireמֵעַלfrom uponהַמִּזְבֵּחַthe altarוְשִׂיםand putקְטֹרֶתincenseוְהוֹלֵךְand goמְהֵרָהsoonאֶל־הָעֵדָהunto the congregationוְכַפֵּרand make atonementעֲלֵיהֶםupon themכִּי־יָצָאbecause he went forthהַקֶּצֶףthe wrathמִלִּפְנֵיfrom the presence ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵחֵלbeganהַנָּגֶף׃the plague

    And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a censer, and put fire therein from off the altar, and put on incense, and go quickly unto the congregation, and make an atonement for them: for there is wrath gone out from the LORD; the plague is begun.

    וַיִּקַּחand tookאַהֲרֹןAaronכַּאֲשֶׁרasדִּבֶּרspokeמֹשֶׁהMosesוַיָּרׇץand he ranאֶל־תּוֹךְdown intoהַקָּהָלthe assemblyוְהִנֵּהand beholdהֵחֵלbeganהַנֶּגֶףthe plagueבָּעָםover the peopleוַיִּתֵּןand gaveאֶת־הַקְּטֹרֶתthe incenseוַיְכַפֵּרand he made atonementעַל־הָעָם׃over the people

    And Aaron took as Moses commanded, and ran into the midst of the congregation; and, behold, the plague was begun among the people: and he put on incense, and made an atonement for the people.

    וַיַּעֲמֹדand stoodבֵּין־הַמֵּתִיםamong the deadוּבֵיןand betweenהַחַיִּיםthe livingוַתֵּעָצַרand it was restrainedהַמַּגֵּפָה׃the plague

    And he stood between the dead and the living; and the plague was stayed.

14. 14

    וַיִּהְיוּand they wereהַמֵּתִיםthe deadבַּמַּגֵּפָהby the plagueאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרfourteenאֶלֶףthousandוּשְׁבַעand sevenמֵאוֹתhundredמִלְּבַדbesidesהַמֵּתִיםthe deadעַל־דְּבַר־קֹרַח׃upon the word of Korah

    Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.

15. 15

    וַיָּשׇׁבand returnedאַהֲרֹןAaronאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesאֶל־פֶּתַחto the door ofאֹהֶלthe tent ofמוֹעֵדthe congregationוְהַמַּגֵּפָהand the plagueנֶעֱצָרָה׃it had been restrained

    And Aaron returned unto Moses unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation: and the plague was stayed.

16. 16

    וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃saying

    And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

17. 17

    דַּבֵּרspeakאֶל־בְּנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוְקַחand takeמֵאִתָּםof themמַטֶּהa staffמַטֶּהa staffלְבֵיתof the house ofאָבthe fatherמֵאֵתfromכׇּל־נְשִׂיאֵהֶםall their leadersלְבֵיתof the house ofאֲבֹתָםtheir fathersשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרtwelveמַטּוֹתstaffsאִישׁeachאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameתִּכְתֹּבyou shall writeעַל־מַטֵּהוּ׃upon his staff

    Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man's name upon his rod.

18. 18

    וְאֵתandשֵׁםthe name ofאַהֲרֹןAaronתִּכְתֹּבyou shall writeעַל־מַטֵּהupon the staff ofלֵוִיLeviכִּיbecauseמַטֶּהa staffאֶחָדoneלְרֹאשׁfor the head ofבֵּיתthe house ofאֲבוֹתָם׃their fathers

    And thou shalt write Aaron's name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.

19. 19

    וְהִנַּחְתָּםand you will deposit themבְּאֹהֶלin the tent ofמוֹעֵדthe congregationלִפְנֵיbeforeהָעֵדוּתthe testimonyאֲשֶׁרwhichאִוָּעֵדI will meetלָכֶםto youשָׁמָּה׃there

    And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.

20. 20

    וְהָיָהand beהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁרwhichאֶבְחַר־בּוֹI will choose in himמַטֵּהוּhis staffיִפְרָחit will budוַהֲשִׁכֹּתִיand I will put an end toמֵעָלַיfrom meאֶת־תְּלֻנּוֹתcomplaintsבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֲשֶׁרwhichהֵםtheyמַלִּינִםare grumblingעֲלֵיכֶם׃over you

    And it shall come to pass, that the man's rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.

    וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶל־בְּנֵיunto the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיִּתְּנוּand they gaveאֵלָיוto himכׇּל־נְשִׂיאֵיהֶםall their leadersמַטֶּהa staffלְנָשִׂיאfor a leaderאֶחָדoneמַטֶּהa staffלְנָשִׂיאfor a leaderאֶחָדoneלְבֵיתto the house ofאֲבֹתָםtheir fathersשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרtwelveמַטּוֹתstaffsוּמַטֵּהand the staff ofאַהֲרֹןAaronבְּתוֹךְamongמַטּוֹתָם׃their staffs

    And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers' houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.

22. 22

    וַיַּנַּחand depositedמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶת־הַמַּטֹּתthe staffsלִפְנֵיbeforeיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּאֹהֶלin the tent ofהָעֵדֻת׃the testimony

    And Moses laid up the rods before the LORD in the tabernacle of witness.

23. 23

    וַיְהִיand it came to passמִמׇּחֳרָתfrom the next day ofוַיָּבֹאand cameמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶל־אֹהֶלto the tent ofהָעֵדוּתthe testimonyוְהִנֵּהand beholdפָּרַחit has broken outמַטֵּה־אַהֲרֹןthe staff of Aaronלְבֵיתto the house ofלֵוִיLeviוַיֹּצֵאand it had put forthפֶרַחbudsוַיָּצֵץand it had blossomedצִיץblossomsוַיִּגְמֹלand it had ripenedשְׁקֵדִים׃almonds

    And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.

24. 24

    וַיֹּצֵאand brought outמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּטֹּתall the staffsמִלִּפְנֵיfrom the presence ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־כׇּל־בְּנֵיto all sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוַיִּרְאוּand they sawוַיִּקְחוּand they tookאִישׁeachמַטֵּהוּ׃his staff

    And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.

25. 25

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesהָשֵׁבbring backאֶת־מַטֵּהthe staff ofאַהֲרֹןAaronלִפְנֵיbeforeהָעֵדוּתthe testimonyלְמִשְׁמֶרֶתto be keptלְאוֹתfor a signלִבְנֵי־מֶרִיunto the sons of rebellionוּתְכַלand may you put an end toתְּלוּנֹּתָםtheir grumblingsמֵעָלַיfrom meוְלֹאand notיָמֻתוּ׃they will die

    And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

26. 26

    וַיַּעַשׂand didמֹשֶׁהMosesכַּאֲשֶׁרasצִוָּהcommandedיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֹתוֹhimכֵּןthusעָשָׂה׃he made

    And Moses did so: as the LORD commanded him, so did he.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמְרוּand they saidבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesלֵאמֹרsayingהֵןbeholdגָּוַעְנוּwe perishedאָבַדְנוּwe perishכֻּלָּנוּus allאָבָדְנוּ׃we perish

    And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.

28. 28

    כֹּלallהַקָּרֵבthe approachingהַקָּרֵבthe approachingאֶל־מִשְׁכַּןto the tabernacle ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDיָמוּתhe shall dieהַאִםis it thatתַּמְנוּshall we be consumedלִגְוֺעַ׃to die

    Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the LORD shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
