    And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the tabernacle of the congregation, on the first day of the second month, in the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,

    Take ye the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, after their families, by the house of their fathers, with the number of their names, every male by their polls;

    From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

    And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.

    And these are the names of the men that shall stand with you: of the tribe of Reuben; Elizur the son of Shedeur.

    These were the renowned of the congregation, princes of the tribes of their fathers, heads of thousands in Israel.

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronאֵת־הָאֲנָשִׁיםet-ha/a/na/SHIMthe menהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoנִקְּבוּnik/ke/VUwere designatedבְּשֵׁמוֹת׃be/she/MOTby name

    And Moses and Aaron took these men which are expressed by their names:

    וְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־הָעֵדָהkol-ha/e/DAall the congregationהִקְהִילוּhik/HI/luthey assembledבְּאֶחָדbe/e/CHADon the firstלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIsecondוַיִּתְיַלְדוּvay/yit/yal/DUand they declared their pedigreesעַל־מִשְׁפְּחֹתָםal-mish/pe/cho/TAMby their familiesלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARaccording to the number ofשֵׁמוֹתshe/MOTthe namesמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמַעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardלְגֻלְגְּלֹתָם׃le/gul/ge/lo/TAMby their heads

    And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.

    As the LORD commanded Moses, so he numbered them in the wilderness of Sinai.

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereבְנֵי־רְאוּבֵןve/NE-re/u/VENthe children of Reubenבְּכֹרbe/KHORthe firstborn ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelתּוֹלְדֹתָםtol/do/TAMtheir generationsלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםle/mish/pe/cho/TAMby their familiesלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARaccording to the number ofשֵׁמוֹתshe/MOTthe namesלְגֻלְגְּלֹתָםle/gul/ge/lo/TAMby their headsכׇּל־זָכָרkol-za/KHARevery maleמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמַעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardכֹּלkolallיֹצֵאyo/TSEwho go outצָבָא׃tsa/VAto war

    Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Reuben, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.

    Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Simeon, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.

    Of the children of Asher, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

    פְּקֻדֵיהֶםpe/ku/de/HEMthose numbered of themלְמַטֵּהle/mat/TEof the tribe ofאָשֵׁרA/SHERAsherאֶחָדe/CHADoneוְאַרְבָּעִיםve/ar/ba/IMand fortyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוַחֲמֵשׁva/cha/MESHand fiveמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Asher, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.

  42. 42

    בְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofנַפְתָּלִיNaf/ta/LINaphtaliתּוֹלְדֹתָםtol/do/TAMtheir generationsלְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָםle/mish/pe/cho/TAMby their familiesלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARaccording to the number ofשֵׁמֹתshe/MOTthe namesמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמַעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardכֹּלkolallיֹצֵאyo/TSEwho go outצָבָא׃tsa/VAto war

    Of the children of Naphtali, throughout their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war;

    פְּקֻדֵיהֶםpe/ku/de/HEMthose numbered of themלְמַטֵּהle/mat/TEof the tribe ofנַפְתָּלִיNaf/ta/LINaphtaliשְׁלֹשָׁהshe/lo/SHAthreeוַחֲמִשִּׁיםva/cha/mish/SHIMand fiftyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוְאַרְבַּעve/ar/BAand fourמֵאוֹת׃me/OThundred

    Those that were numbered of them, even of the tribe of Naphtali, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.

    אֵלֶּהEL/letheseהַפְּקֻדִיםhap/pe/ku/DIMthose numberedאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomפָּקַדpa/KADnumberedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוְאַהֲרֹןve/A/ha/RONand Aaronוּנְשִׂיאֵיu/ne/si/Eand the leaders ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveאִישׁishmenאִישׁ־אֶחָדish-e/CHADone manלְבֵית־אֲבֹתָיוle/VET-a/vo/TAYVfor the house of his fathersהָיוּ׃ha/YUthey were

    These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.

  45. 45

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereכׇּל־פְּקוּדֵיkol-pe/ku/DEall those numbered ofבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelלְבֵיתle/VETby the house ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersמִבֶּןmib/BENfromעֶשְׂרִיםes/RIMtwentyשָׁנָהsha/NAyears oldוָמַעְלָהva/MA/laand upwardכׇּל־יֹצֵאkol-yo/TSEall who go outצָבָאtsa/VAto warבְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃be/Yis/ra/ELin Israel

    So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;

  46. 46

    וַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they wereכׇּל־הַפְּקֻדִיםkol-hap/pe/ku/DIMall those numberedשֵׁשׁ־מֵאוֹתshesh-me/OTsix hundredאֶלֶףE/lefthousandוּשְׁלֹשֶׁתu/she/LO/shetand threeאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandוַחֲמֵשׁva/cha/MESHand fiveמֵאוֹתme/OThundredוַחֲמִשִּׁים׃va/cha/mish/SHIMand fifty

    Even all they that were numbered were six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty.

  47. 47

    וְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesלְמַטֵּהle/mat/TEafter the tribe ofאֲבֹתָםa/vo/TAMtheir fathersלֹאlonotהׇתְפָּקְדוּhot/pa/ke/DUwere numberedבְּתוֹכָם׃be/to/KHAMamong them

    But the Levites after the tribe of their fathers were not numbered among them.

  48. 48

    וַיְדַבֵּרvay/dab/BERand spokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    For the LORD had spoken unto Moses, saying,

  49. 49

    אַךְakhbutאֶת־מַטֵּהet-mat/TEthe tribe ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviלֹאlonotתִפְקֹדtif/KODshall you numberוְאֶת־רֹאשָׁםve/ET-ro/SHAMand their sumלֹאlonotתִשָּׂאtis/SAshall you takeבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Only thou shalt not number the tribe of Levi, neither take the sum of them among the children of Israel:

  50. 50

    וְאַתָּהve/at/TAbut youהַפְקֵדhaf/KEDappointאֶת־הַלְוִיִּםet-Hal/viy/YIMthe Levitesעַל־מִשְׁכַּןal-mish/KANover the tabernacle ofהָעֵדֻתha/e/DUTthe testimonyוְעַלve/ALand overכׇּל־כֵּלָיוkol-ke/LAYVall its furnishingsוְעַלve/ALand overכׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לוֹkol-a/SHER-loall that belongs to itהֵמָּהHEM/matheyיִשְׂאוּyis/Ushall carryאֶת־הַמִּשְׁכָּןet-ham/mish/KANthe tabernacleוְאֶת־כׇּל־כֵּלָיוve/ET-kol-ke/LAYVand all its furnishingsוְהֵםve/HEMand theyיְשָׁרְתֻהוּye/sha/re/TU/hushall minister to itוְסָבִיבve/sa/VIVand round aboutלַמִּשְׁכָּןlam/mish/KANthe tabernacleיַחֲנוּ׃ya/cha/NUshall encamp

    But thou shalt appoint the Levites over the tabernacle of testimony, and over all the vessels thereof, and over all things that belong to it: they shall bear the tabernacle, and all the vessels thereof; and they shall minister unto it, and shall encamp round about the tabernacle.

  51. 51

    וּבִנְסֹעַu/vin/SO/aand when sets forwardהַמִּשְׁכָּןham/mish/KANthe tabernacleיוֹרִידוּyo/RI/dushall take downאֹתוֹo/TOitהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesוּבַחֲנֹתu/va/cha/NOTand when encampsהַמִּשְׁכָּןham/mish/KANthe tabernacleיָקִימוּya/KI/mushall set upאֹתוֹo/TOitהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesוְהַזָּרve/haz/ZARand the outsiderהַקָּרֵבhak/ka/REVwho comes nearיוּמָת׃yu/MATshall be put to death

    And when the tabernacle setteth forward, the Levites shall take it down: and when the tabernacle is to be pitched, the Levites shall set it up: and the stranger that cometh nigh shall be put to death.

  52. 52

    וְחָנוּve/cha/NUand shall encampבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאִישׁisheach manעַל־מַחֲנֵהוּal-ma/cha/NE/huby his own campוְאִישׁve/ISHand each manעַל־דִּגְלוֹal-dig/LOby his own standardלְצִבְאֹתָם׃le/tsiv/o/TAMby their armies

    And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.

  53. 53

    וְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesיַחֲנוּya/cha/NUshall encampסָבִיבsa/VIVround aboutלְמִשְׁכַּןle/mish/KANthe tabernacle ofהָעֵדֻתha/e/DUTthe testimonyוְלֹא־יִהְיֶהve/LO-yih/YEthat there be noקֶצֶףKE/tsefwrathעַל־עֲדַתal-a/DATupon the congregation ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְשָׁמְרוּve/sha/me/RUand shall keepהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe Levitesאֶת־מִשְׁמֶרֶתet-mish/ME/retthe charge ofמִשְׁכַּןmish/KANthe tabernacle ofהָעֵדוּת׃ha/e/DUTthe testimony

    But the Levites shall pitch round about the tabernacle of testimony, that there be no wrath upon the congregation of the children of Israel: and the Levites shall keep the charge of the tabernacle of testimony.

  54. 54

    וַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they didבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁהet-Mo/SHEMosesכֵּןkensoעָשׂוּ׃a/SUthey did

    And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did they.
