    Sallu, Amok, Hilkiah, Jedaiah. These were the chief of the priests and of their brethren in the days of Jeshua.

    Moreover the Levites: Jeshua, Binnui, Kadmiel, Sherebiah, Judah, and Mattaniah, which was over the thanksgiving, he and his brethren.

    וּבַקְבֻּקְיָהu/Vak/buk/YAand Bakbukiah(וענו)vnav[וְעֻנִּי]Ve/un/NIand Unniאֲחֵיהֶםa/che/HEMtheir brothersלְנֶגְדָּםle/neg/DAMopposite themלְמִשְׁמָרוֹת׃le/mish/ma/ROTin the watches

    Also Bakbukiah and Unni, their brethren, were over against them in the watches.

    And Jeshua begat Joiakim, Joiakim also begat Eliashib, and Eliashib begat Joiada,

    And Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat Jaddua.

    And in the days of Joiakim were priests, the chief of the fathers: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;

    The Levites in the days of Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were recorded chief of the fathers: also the priests, to the reign of Darius the Persian.

    בְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofלֵוִיLe/VILeviרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe heads ofהָאָבוֹתha/a/VOTthe fathersכְּתוּבִיםke/tu/VIMwere writtenעַל־סֵפֶרal-SE/ferin the book ofדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe events ofהַיָּמִיםhay/ya/MIMthe daysוְעַד־יְמֵיve/AD-ye/MEeven until the days ofיוֹחָנָןYo/cha/NANJohananבֶּן־אֶלְיָשִׁיב׃ben-El/ya/SHIVthe son of Eliashib

    The sons of Levi, the chief of the fathers, were written in the book of the chronicles, even until the days of Johanan the son of Eliashib.

    וְרָאשֵׁיve/ra/SHEand the heads ofהַלְוִיִּםHal/viy/YIMthe LevitesחֲשַׁבְיָהCha/shav/YAHashabiahשֵׁרֵבְיָהShe/rev/YASherebiahוְיֵשׁוּעַve/Ye/SHU/aand Jeshuaבֶּן־קַדְמִיאֵלben-Kad/mi/ELthe son of Kadmielוַאֲחֵיהֶםva/a/che/HEMand their brothersלְנֶגְדָּםle/neg/DAMopposite themלְהַלֵּלle/hal/LELto praiseלְהוֹדוֹתle/ho/DOTto give thanksבְּמִצְוַתbe/mits/VATaccording to the commandment ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאִישׁ־הָאֱלֹהִיםish-ha/e/lo/HIMthe man of Godמִשְׁמָרmish/MARwatchלְעֻמַּתle/um/MATcorresponding toמִשְׁמָר׃mish/MARwatch

    And the chief of the Levites: Hashabiah, Sherebiah, and Jeshua the son of Kadmiel, with their brethren over against them, to praise and to give thanks, according to the commandment of David the man of God, ward over against ward.

    מַתַּנְיָהMat/tan/YAMattaniahוּבַקְבֻּקְיָהu/Vak/buk/YAand BakbukiahעֹבַדְיָהO/vad/YAObadiahמְשֻׁלָּםMe/shul/LAMMeshullamטַלְמוֹןTal/MONTalmonעַקּוּבAk/KUVAkkubשֹׁמְרִיםshom/RIMkeepingשׁוֹעֲרִיםsho/a/RIMgatekeepersמִשְׁמָרmish/MARthe watchבַּאֲסֻפֵּיba/a/sup/PEat the storehouses ofהַשְּׁעָרִים׃hash/she/a/RIMthe gates

    Mattaniah, and Bakbukiah, Obadiah, Meshullam, Talmon, Akkub, were porters keeping the ward at the thresholds of the gates.

    אֵלֶּהEL/lethese wereבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofיוֹיָקִיםYo/ya/KIMJoiakimבֶּן־יֵשׁוּעַben-Ye/SHU/athe son of Jeshuaבֶּן־יוֹצָדָקben-Yo/tsa/DAKthe son of Jozadakוּבִימֵיu/vi/MEand in the days ofנְחֶמְיָהNe/chem/YANehemiahהַפֶּחָהhap/pe/CHAthe governorוְעֶזְרָאve/Ez/RAand Ezraהַכֹּהֵןhak/ko/HENthe priestהַסּוֹפֵר׃has/so/FERthe scribe

    These were in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.

    וּבַחֲנֻכַּתu/va/cha/nuk/KATand at the dedication ofחוֹמַתcho/MATthe wall ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemבִּקְשׁוּbik/SHUthey soughtאֶת־הַלְוִיִּםet-Hal/viy/YIMthe Levitesמִכׇּל־מְקוֹמֹתָםmik/KOL-me/ko/mo/TAMfrom all their placesלַהֲבִיאָםla/ha/vi/AMto bring themלִירוּשָׁלָ͏ִםlI/ru/sha/LA/yimto Jerusalemלַעֲשֹׂתla/a/SOTto keepחֲנֻכָּהcha/nuk/KAthe dedicationוְשִׂמְחָהve/sim/CHAwith gladnessוּבְתוֹדוֹתu/ve/to/DOTand with thanksgivingsוּבְשִׁירu/ve/SHIRand with songמְצִלְתַּיִםme/tsil/TA/yimcymbalsנְבָלִיםne/va/LIMharpsוּבְכִנֹּרוֹת׃u/ve/khin/no/ROTand with lyres

    And at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought the Levites out of all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem, to keep the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings, and with singing, with cymbals, psalteries, and with harps.

    וַיֵּאָסְפוּvay/ye/a/se/FUand were gatheredבְּנֵיbe/NEthe sons ofהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםham/shor/RIMthe singersוּמִן־הַכִּכָּרu/MIN-hak/kik/KARboth from the plainסְבִיבוֹתse/vi/VOTaroundיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemוּמִן־חַצְרֵיu/MIN-chats/REand from the villages ofנְטֹפָתִי׃Ne/to/fa/TIof the Netophathites

    And the sons of the singers gathered themselves together, both out of the plain country round about Jerusalem, and from the villages of Netophathi;

    וּמִבֵּיתu/Mib/BETand from Beth-הַגִּלְגָּלhag/gil/GALgilgalוּמִשְּׂדוֹתu/mis/se/DOTand from the fields ofגֶּבַעGE/vaGebaוְעַזְמָוֶתve/Az/MA/vetand Azmavethכִּיkiforחֲצֵרִיםcha/tse/RIMvillagesבָּנוּBA/nuthey builtלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםham/shor/RIMthe singersסְבִיבוֹתse/vi/VOTaroundיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    Also from the house of Gilgal, and out of the fields of Geba and Azmaveth: for the singers had builded them villages round about Jerusalem.

    וַיִּטַּהֲרוּvay/yit/ta/ha/RUand purified themselvesהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsוְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesוַיְטַהֲרוּvay/ta/ha/RUand purifiedאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleוְאֶת־הַשְּׁעָרִיםve/ET-hash/she/a/RIMand the gatesוְאֶת־הַחוֹמָה׃ve/ET-ha/cho/MAand the wall

    And the priests and the Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, and the gates, and the wall.

  31. 31

    וָאַעֲלֶהva/a/a/LEthen I brought upאֶת־שָׂרֵיet-sa/REthe princes ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahמֵעַלme/ALonלַחוֹמָהla/cho/MAthe wallוָאַעֲמִידָהva/a/a/MI/daand appointedשְׁתֵּיshtetwoתוֹדֹתto/DOTthanksgiving choirsגְּדוֹלֹתge/do/LOTgreatוְתַהֲלֻכֹתve/ta/ha/lu/KHOTand processionsלַיָּמִיןlay/ya/MINone to the rightמֵעַלme/ALonלַחוֹמָהla/cho/MAthe wallלְשַׁעַרle/SHA/artoward the gate ofהָאַשְׁפֹּת׃ha/ash/POTthe dung

    Then I brought up the princes of Judah upon the wall, and appointed two great companies of them that gave thanks, whereof one went on the right hand upon the wall toward the dung gate:

    וַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themהוֹשַׁעְיָהHo/sha/YAHoshaiahוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIand half ofשָׂרֵיsa/REthe princes ofיְהוּדָה׃Ye/hu/DAJudah

    And after them went Hoshaiah, and half of the princes of Judah,

    וַעֲזַרְיָהva/A/zar/YAand AzariahעֶזְרָאEz/RAEzraוּמְשֻׁלָּם׃u/Me/shul/LAMand Meshullam

    And Azariah, Ezra, and Meshullam,

  34. 34

    יְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוּבִנְיָמִןu/Vin/ya/MINand Benjaminוּשְׁמַעְיָהu/She/ma/YAand Shemaiahוְיִרְמְיָה׃ve/Yir/me/YAand Jeremiah

    Judah, and Benjamin, and Shemaiah, and Jeremiah,

  35. 35

    וּמִבְּנֵיu/mib/be/NEand of the sons ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsבַּחֲצֹצְרוֹתba/cha/tsots/ROTwith trumpetsזְכַרְיָהZe/khar/YAZechariahבֶן־יוֹנָתָןven-Yo/na/TANthe son of Jonathanבֶּן־שְׁמַעְיָהben-She/ma/YAthe son of Shemaiahבֶּן־מַתַּנְיָהben-Mat/tan/YAthe son of Mattaniahבֶּן־מִיכָיָהben-Mi/kha/YAthe son of Micaiahבֶּן־זַכּוּרben-Zak/KURthe son of Zaccurבֶּן־אָסָף׃ben-A/SAFthe son of Asaph

    And certain of the priests' sons with trumpets; namely, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph:

    וְאֶחָיוve/e/CHAYVand his brothersשְׁמַעְיָהShe/ma/YAShemaiahוַעֲזַרְאֵלva/A/zar/ELand AzaraelמִלְלַיMil/LAYMilalaiגִּלְלַיGil/LAYGilalaiמָעַיMa/AYMaaiנְתַנְאֵלNe/tan/ELNethaneelוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand JudahחֲנָנִיCha/NA/niHananiבִּכְלֵי־שִׁירbikh/LE-shirwith the musical instruments ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidאִישׁishthe man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְעֶזְרָאve/Ez/RAand Ezraהַסּוֹפֵרhas/so/FERthe scribeלִפְנֵיהֶם׃lif/ne/HEMbefore them

    And his brethren, Shemaiah, and Azarael, Milalai, Gilalai, Maai, Nethaneel, and Judah, Hanani, with the musical instruments of David the man of God, and Ezra the scribe before them.

    וְעַלve/ALand atשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהָעַיִןha/A/yinthe springוְנֶגְדָּםve/neg/DAMstraight before themעָלוּa/LUthey went upעַל־מַעֲלוֹתal-ma/a/LOTby the stairs ofעִירirthe city ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidבַּמַּעֲלֶהbam/ma/a/LEat the ascent ofלַחוֹמָהla/cho/MAthe wallמֵעַלme/ALaboveלְבֵיתle/VETthe house ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidוְעַדve/ADeven toשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהַמַּיִםham/MA/yimthe waterמִזְרָח׃miz/RACHeastward

    And at the fountain gate, which was over against them, they went up by the stairs of the city of David, at the going up of the wall, above the house of David, even unto the water gate eastward.

    וְהַתּוֹדָהve/hat/to/DAand the thanksgiving choirהַשֵּׁנִיתhash/she/NITsecondהַהוֹלֶכֶתha/ho/LE/khetwentלְמוֹאלle/MOLoppositeוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iאַחֲרֶיהָa/cha/RE/haafter itוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIwith half ofהָעָםha/AMthe peopleמֵעַלme/ALonלְהַחוֹמָהle/ha/cho/MAthe wallמֵעַלme/ALaboveלְמִגְדַּלle/mig/DALthe tower ofהַתַּנּוּרִיםhat/tan/nu/RIMthe ovensוְעַדve/ADeven toהַחוֹמָהha/cho/MAthe wallהָרְחָבָה׃ha/re/cha/VAbroad

    And the other company of them that gave thanks went over against them, and I after them, and the half of the people upon the wall, from beyond the tower of the furnaces even unto the broad wall;

    וּמֵעַלu/me/ALand aboveלְשַׁעַר־אֶפְרַיִםle/SHA/ar-ef/RA/yimthe gate of Ephraimוְעַל־שַׁעַרve/AL-SHA/arand above the gate ofהַיְשָׁנָהhay/sha/NAthe oldוְעַל־שַׁעַרve/AL-SHA/arand above the gate ofהַדָּגִיםhad/da/GIMthe fishוּמִגְדַּלu/mig/DALand the tower ofחֲנַנְאֵלCha/nan/ELHananeelוּמִגְדַּלu/mig/DALand the tower ofהַמֵּאָהHam/me/AMeahוְעַדve/ADeven toשַׁעַרSHA/arthe gate ofהַצֹּאןhats/TSONthe sheepוְעָמְדוּve/a/me/DUand they stoppedבְּשַׁעַרbe/SHA/arat the gate ofהַמַּטָּרָה׃ham/mat/ta/RAthe guard

    And from above the gate of Ephraim, and above the old gate, and above the fish gate, and the tower of Hananeel, and the tower of Meah, even unto the sheep gate: and they stood still in the prison gate.

    וַתַּעֲמֹדְנָהvat/ta/a/MOD/naso stoodשְׁתֵּיshtetwoהַתּוֹדֹתhat/to/DOTthanksgiving choirsבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand Iוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIand half ofהַסְּגָנִיםhas/se/ga/NIMthe officialsעִמִּי׃im/MIwith me

    So stood the two companies of them that gave thanks in the house of God, and I, and the half of the rulers with me:

    And the priests; Eliakim, Maaseiah, Miniamin, Michaiah, Elioenai, Zechariah, and Hananiah, with trumpets;

    וּמַעֲשֵׂיָהu/Ma/a/se/YAand Maaseiahוּשְׁמַעְיָהu/She/ma/YAand Shemaiahוְאֶלְעָזָרve/El/a/ZARand Eleazarוְעֻזִּיve/Uz/ZIand UzziוִיהוֹחָנָןVi/ho/cha/NANand Jehohananוּמַלְכִּיָּהu/Mal/kiy/YAand Malchijahוְעֵילָםve/E/LAMand Elamוָעָזֶרva/A/zerand Ezerוַיַּשְׁמִיעוּvay/yash/MI/uand sang aloudהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםham/shor/RIMthe singersוְיִזְרַחְיָהve/Yiz/rach/YAand Izrahiahהַפָּקִיד׃hap/pa/KIDthe overseer

    And Maaseiah, and Shemaiah, and Eleazar, and Uzzi, and Jehohanan, and Malchijah, and Elam, and Ezer. And the singers sang loud, with Jezrahiah their overseer.

    וַיִּזְבְּחוּvay/yiz/be/CHUand sacrificedבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאvay/YOM-ha/HUthat dayזְבָחִיםze/va/CHIMsacrificesגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatוַיִּשְׂמָחוּvay/yis/MA/chuand rejoicedכִּיkiforהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodשִׂמְּחָםsim/me/CHAMhad made them rejoiceשִׂמְחָהsim/CHAjoyגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוְגַםve/GAMand alsoהַנָּשִׁיםhan/na/SHIMthe womenוְהַיְלָדִיםve/hay/la/DIMand the childrenשָׂמֵחוּsa/ME/churejoicedוַתִּשָּׁמַעvat/tish/sha/MAso that was heardשִׂמְחַתsim/CHATthe joy ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםYe/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemמֵרָחוֹק׃me/ra/CHOKfar off

    Also that day they offered great sacrifices, and rejoiced: for God had made them rejoice with great joy: the wives also and the children rejoiced: so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even afar off.

    וַיִּפָּקְדוּvay/yip/pa/ke/DUand were appointedבַיּוֹםvay/YOMon the dayהַהוּאha/HUthatאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenעַל־הַנְּשָׁכוֹתal-han/ne/sha/KHOTover the chambersלָאוֹצָרוֹתla/o/tsa/ROTfor the storesלַתְּרוּמוֹתlat/te/ru/MOTfor the contributionsלָרֵאשִׁיתla/re/SHITfor the firstfruitsוְלַמַּעַשְׂרוֹתve/lam/ma/as/ROTand for the tithesלִכְנוֹסlikh/NOSto gatherבָּהֶםba/HEMinto themלִשְׂדֵיlis/DEfrom the fields ofהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesמְנָאוֹתme/na/OTthe portions required byהַתּוֹרָהhat/to/RAthe lawלַכֹּהֲנִיםlak/ko/ha/NIMto the priestsוְלַלְוִיִּםve/Lal/viy/YIMand to the Levitesכִּיkiforשִׂמְחַתsim/CHATthe joy ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahעַל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםal-hak/ko/ha/NIMwas over the priestsוְעַל־הַלְוִיִּםve/AL-hal/viy/YIMand over the Levitesהָעֹמְדִים׃ha/om/DIMwho served

    And at that time were some appointed over the chambers for the treasures, for the offerings, for the firstfruits, and for the tithes, to gather into them out of the fields of the cities the portions of the law for the priests and Levites: for Judah rejoiced for the priests and for the Levites that waited.

    וַיִּשְׁמְרוּvay/yish/me/RUand they keptמִשְׁמֶרֶתmish/ME/retthe charge ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir Godוּמִשְׁמֶרֶתu/mish/ME/retand the charge ofהַטׇּהֳרָהhat/to/ho/RApurificationוְהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםve/ham/shor/RIMand the singersוְהַשֹּׁעֲרִיםve/hash/sho/a/RIMand the gatekeepersכְּמִצְוַתke/mits/VATaccording to the commandment ofדָּוִידDa/VIDDavidשְׁלֹמֹהShe/lo/MOSolomonבְנוֹ׃ve/NOhis son

    And both the singers and the porters kept the ward of their God, and the ward of the purification, according to the commandment of David, and of Solomon his son.

  46. 46

    כִּי־בִימֵיki-vi/MEfor in the days ofדָוִידDa/VIDDavidוְאָסָףve/A/SAFand Asaphמִקֶּדֶםmik/KE/demof old(ראש)rsh[רָאשֵׁי]ra/SHEthere were chiefs ofהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםham/shor/RIMthe singersוְשִׁיר־תְּהִלָּהve/SHIR-te/hil/LAand songs of praiseוְהֹדוֹתve/ho/DOTand thanksgivingלֵאלֹהִים׃le/lo/HIMto God

    For in the days of David and Asaph of old there were chief of the singers, and songs of praise and thanksgiving unto God.

    וְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/KHOL-yis/ra/ELand all Israelבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofזְרֻבָּבֶלZe/rub/ba/VELZerubbabelוּבִימֵיu/vi/MEand in the days ofנְחֶמְיָהNe/chem/YANehemiahנֹתְנִיםnot/NIMgaveמְנָיוֹתme/na/YOTthe portions ofהַמְשֹׁרְרִיםham/shor/RIMthe singersוְהַשֹּׁעֲרִיםve/hash/sho/a/RIMand the gatekeepersדְּבַר־יוֹםde/VAR-yomeach day's matterבְּיוֹמוֹbe/yo/MOin its dayוּמַקְדִּשִׁיםu/mak/di/SHIMand they set apartלַלְוִיִּםLal/viy/YIMfor the LevitesוְהַלְוִיִּםVe/hal/viy/YIMand the Levitesמַקְדִּשִׁיםmak/di/SHIMset apartלִבְנֵיliv/NEfor the sons ofאַהֲרֹן׃A/ha/RONAaron

    And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: and they sanctified holy things unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them unto the children of Aaron.
