Micah 5 מִיכָה פרק ה׳

1. 1

   וְאַתָּהand youבֵּית־לֶחֶםBeth-lehemאֶפְרָתָהEphratahצָעִירthough you be littleלִהְיוֹתto beבְּאַלְפֵיamong the thousands ofיְהוּדָהJudahמִמְּךָfrom youלִיto meיֵצֵאhe go forthלִהְיוֹתto beמוֹשֵׁלrulerבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelוּמוֹצָאֹתָיוand his goings forthמִקֶּדֶםof oldמִימֵיfrom the days ofעוֹלָם׃eternal

   But thou, Beth-lehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

2. 2

   לָכֵןthereforeיִתְּנֵםwill he give them upעַד־עֵתuntil the own due time ofיוֹלֵדָהa woman who gives birthיָלָדָהshe boreוְיֶתֶרand the rest ofאֶחָיוhis brethrenיְשׁוּבוּןthey will turn backעַל־בְּנֵיupon the sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

   Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.

3. 3

   וְעָמַדand he shall standוְרָעָהand he shall feedבְּעֹזin the strength ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDבִּגְאוֹןin the pride ofשֵׁםthe name ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godוְיָשָׁבוּand they shall abideכִּי־עַתָּהbecause nowיִגְדַּלshall growעַד־אַפְסֵי־אָרֶץ׃until the ends of the earth

   And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God; and they shall abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.

4. 4

   וְהָיָהand beזֶהthisשָׁלוֹםpeaceאַשּׁוּרAssyriaכִּי־יָבוֹאwhen shall comeבְאַרְצֵנוּin our landוְכִיand thatיִדְרֹךְmay he bendבְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵינוּin our fortressesוַהֲקֵמֹנוּand we will raise upעָלָיוupon himשִׁבְעָהsevenרֹעִיםshepherdsוּשְׁמֹנָהand eightנְסִיכֵיthe princes ofאָדָם׃man

   And this man shall be the peace, when the Assyrian shall come into our land: and when he shall tread in our palaces, then shall we raise against him seven shepherds, and eight principal men.

   וְרָעוּand they shall wasteאֶת־אֶרֶץland ofאַשּׁוּרAssyriaבַּחֶרֶבwith the swordוְאֶת־אֶרֶץand land ofנִמְרֹדNimrodבִּפְתָחֶיהָat its entrancesוְהִצִּילthus shall he deliverמֵאַשּׁוּרfrom Assyriaכִּי־יָבוֹאwhen shall comeבְאַרְצֵנוּin our landוְכִיand thatיִדְרֹךְmay he bendבִּגְבוּלֵנוּ׃in our territory

   And they shall waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances thereof: thus shall he deliver us from the Assyrian, when he cometh into our land, and when he treadeth within our borders.

6. 6

   וְהָיָהand beשְׁאֵרִיתremnant ofיַעֲקֹבJacobבְּקֶרֶבamongעַמִּיםpeoplesרַבִּיםmanyכְּטַלas dewמֵאֵתfromיְהֹוָהthe LORDכִּרְבִיבִיםlike copious showersעֲלֵי־עֵשֶׂבon herbאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְקַוֶּהnot hopesלְאִישׁfor a manוְלֹאand notיְיַחֵלit waitsלִבְנֵיunto the sons ofאָדָם׃man

   And the remnant of Jacob shall be in the midst of many people as a dew from the LORD, as the showers upon the grass, that tarrieth not for man, nor waiteth for the sons of men.

7. 7

   וְהָיָהand beשְׁאֵרִיתremnant ofיַעֲקֹבJacobבַּגּוֹיִםamong the nationsבְּקֶרֶבamongעַמִּיםpeoplesרַבִּיםmanyכְּאַרְיֵהas a lionבְּבַהֲמוֹתin herdsיַעַרthe forest ofכִּכְפִירlike a young lionבְּעֶדְרֵי־צֹאןamong the flocks of sheepאֲשֶׁרwhichאִם־עָבַרif passedוְרָמַסand trampledוְטָרַףand he tearsוְאֵיןand there is noמַצִּיל׃shall deliver them

   And the remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

8. 8

   תָּרֹםit shall be exaltedיָדְךָyour handעַל־צָרֶיךָupon your adversariesוְכׇל־אֹיְבֶיךָand all your enemiesיִכָּרֵתוּ׃cut off

   Thine hand shall be lifted up upon thine adversaries, and all thine enemies shall be cut off.

9. 9

   וְהָיָהand beבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאin that dayנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offסוּסֶיךָyour horsesמִקִּרְבֶּךָfrom your midstוְהַאֲבַדְתִּיand I will destroyמַרְכְּבֹתֶיךָ׃your chariots

   And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots:

10. 10

    וְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offעָרֵיcities ofאַרְצֶךָyour landוְהָרַסְתִּיand I will tear downכׇּל־מִבְצָרֶיךָ׃all your fortifications

    And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:

11. 11

    וְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offכְשָׁפִיםsorceriesמִיָּדֶךָfrom your handוּמְעוֹנְנִיםand soothsayersלֹאnotיִהְיוּ־לָךְ׃shall be for you

    And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:

12. 12

    וְהִכְרַתִּיand cut offפְסִילֶיךָyour idolsוּמַצֵּבוֹתֶיךָand your standing imagesמִקִּרְבֶּךָfrom your midstוְלֹא־תִשְׁתַּחֲוֶהand not bow downעוֹדany moreלְמַעֲשֵׂהunto the work ofיָדֶיךָ׃your hands

    Thy graven images also will I cut off, and thy standing images out of the midst of thee; and thou shalt no more worship the work of thine hands.

13. 13

    וְנָתַשְׁתִּיand I shall uprootאֲשֵׁירֶיךָyour Asherimמִקִּרְבֶּךָfrom your midstוְהִשְׁמַדְתִּיand I will destroyעָרֶיךָ׃your cities

    And I will pluck up thy groves out of the midst of thee: so will I destroy thy cities.

14. 14

    וְעָשִׂיתִיand I will executeבְּאַףin angerוּבְחֵמָהand in rageנָקָםvengeanceאֶת־הַגּוֹיִםthe nationsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotשָׁמֵעוּ׃they have heard

    And I will execute vengeance in anger and fury upon the heathen, such as they have not heard.
