וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesאֱמֹרsayאֶל־הַכֹּהֲנִיםto the priestsבְּנֵיthe sons ofאַהֲרֹןAaronוְאָמַרְתָּand sayאֲלֵהֶםunto themלְנֶפֶשׁfor a dead personלֹא־יִטַּמָּאnot he will make himself uncleanבְּעַמָּיו׃among his people
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

כִּיbutאִם־לִשְׁאֵרוֹexcept for his relativeהַקָּרֹבwho is nearאֵלָיוto himלְאִמּוֹto his motherוּלְאָבִיוand to his fatherוְלִבְנוֹand for his sonוּלְבִתּוֹand for his daughterוּלְאָחִיו׃and for his brother
But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother,

וְלַאֲחֹתוֹand for his sisterהַבְּתוּלָהthe virginהַקְּרוֹבָהwho is nearאֵלָיוto himאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־הָיְתָהnot wasלְאִישׁfor a manלָהּto herיִטַּמָּא׃he will make himself unclean
And for his sister a virgin, that is nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be defiled.

לֹאnotיִטַּמָּאhe will make himself uncleanבַּעַלa chiefבְּעַמָּיוamong his peopleלְהֵחַלּוֹ׃to profane himself
But he shall not defile himself, being a chief man among his people, to profane himself.

לֹא־[יִקְרְחוּ]not they will make baldקׇרְחָהbaldnessבְּרֹאשָׁםat their headוּפְאַתand the side ofזְקָנָםtheir beardלֹאnotיְגַלֵּחוּthey will shaveוּבִבְשָׂרָםand in their fleshלֹאnotיִשְׂרְטוּthey will cutשָׂרָטֶת׃cuts
They shall not make baldness upon their head, neither shall they shave off the corner of their beard, nor make any cuttings in their flesh.

קְדֹשִׁיםholyיִהְיוּshall beלֵאלֹהֵיהֶםto their Godוְלֹאand notיְחַלְּלוּthey will profaneשֵׁםthe name ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶםtheir Godכִּיforאֶת־אִשֵּׁיthe fire offerings ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלֶחֶםbreadאֱלֹהֵיהֶםtheir Godהֵםtheyמַקְרִיבִםare offeringוְהָיוּthen they shall beקֹדֶשׁ׃holy
They shall be holy unto their God, and not profane the name of their God: for the offerings of the LORD made by fire, and the bread of their God, they do offer: therefore they shall be holy.

אִשָּׁהa womanזֹנָהa prostituteוַחֲלָלָהand a woman profanedלֹאnotיִקָּחוּthey will takeוְאִשָּׁהand a womanגְּרוּשָׁהdivorcedמֵאִישָׁהּfrom her husbandלֹאnotיִקָּחוּthey will takeכִּי־קָדֹשׁbecause holyהוּאitלֵאלֹהָיו׃to his God
They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto his God.

וְקִדַּשְׁתּוֹand you will consecrate itכִּי־אֶת־לֶחֶםbecause breadאֱלֹהֶיךָyour Godהוּאitמַקְרִיבoffersקָדֹשׁholyיִהְיֶה־לָּךְhe shall be to youכִּיbecauseקָדוֹשׁholyאֲנִיIיְהֹוָהthe LORDמְקַדִּשְׁכֶם׃who sanctifies you
Thou shalt sanctify him therefore; for he offereth the bread of thy God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am holy.

וּבַתand the daughter ofאִישׁa manכֹּהֵןa priestכִּיifתֵחֵלshe will profane herselfלִזְנוֹתby acting as prostitutesאֶת־אָבִיהָher fatherהִיאsheמְחַלֶּלֶתis profaningבָּאֵשׁby fireתִּשָּׂרֵף׃it will be burned
And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire.

וְהַכֹּהֵןand the priestהַגָּדוֹלthe greatמֵאֶחָיוof his brethrenאֲשֶׁר־יוּצַקwhich it was pouredעַל־רֹאשׁוֹupon his headשֶׁמֶןoilהַמִּשְׁחָהthe anointingוּמִלֵּאand he has filledאֶת־יָדוֹhis handלִלְבֹּשׁto wearאֶת־הַבְּגָדִיםthe garmentsאֶת־רֹאשׁוֹhis headלֹאnotיִפְרָעhe will let looseוּבְגָדָיוand his garmentsלֹאnotיִפְרֹם׃he will tear
And he that is the high priest among his brethren, upon whose head the anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover his head, nor rend his clothes;

וְעַלand uponכׇּל־נַפְשֹׁתall corpses ofמֵתa dead personלֹאnotיָבֹאshall comeלְאָבִיוunto his fatherוּלְאִמּוֹand to his motherלֹאnotיִטַּמָּא׃he will make himself unclean
Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

וּמִן־הַמִּקְדָּשׁand from the sanctuaryלֹאnotיֵצֵאhe go forthוְלֹאand notיְחַלֵּלhe will profaneאֵת־מִקְדַּשׁthe sanctuary ofאֱלֹהָיוhis Godכִּיforנֵזֶרthe crown ofשֶׁמֶןoilמִשְׁחַתanointing ofאֱלֹהָיוhis Godעָלָיוupon himאֲנִיIיְהֹוָה׃the LORD
Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor profane the sanctuary of his God; for the crown of the anointing oil of his God is upon him: I am the LORD.

וְהוּאand heאִשָּׁהa womanבִבְתוּלֶיהָin her virginityיִקָּח׃he will take
And he shall take a wife in her virginity.

אַלְמָנָהa widowוּגְרוּשָׁהand a divorced womanוַחֲלָלָהand a woman profanedזֹנָהa prostituteאֶת־אֵלֶּהtheseלֹאnotיִקָּחhe will takeכִּיbutאִם־בְּתוּלָהonly a virginמֵעַמָּיוfrom his peopleיִקַּחhe shall takeאִשָּׁה׃a woman
A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people to wife.

וְלֹא־יְחַלֵּלand not he will profaneזַרְעוֹhis seedבְּעַמָּיוamong his peopleכִּיforאֲנִיIיְהֹוָהthe LORDמְקַדְּשׁוֹ׃who sanctifies him
Neither shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.

וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהto Mosesלֵּאמֹר׃saying
And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
- 17
דַּבֵּרspeakאֶל־אַהֲרֹןto Aaronלֵאמֹרsayingאִישׁa manמִזַּרְעֲךָfrom your seedלְדֹרֹתָםfor their generationsאֲשֶׁרwhichיִהְיֶהshall beבוֹin himמוּםblemishלֹאnotיִקְרַבwill draw nearלְהַקְרִיבto offerלֶחֶםbreadאֱלֹהָיו׃his God
Speak unto Aaron, saying, Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God.

כִּיforכׇל־אִישׁany manאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹin whomמוּםblemishלֹאnotיִקְרָבhe will draw nearאִישׁa manעִוֵּרblindאוֹorפִסֵּחַlameאוֹorחָרֻםhaving a slit noseאוֹorשָׂרוּעַ׃having something enlarged
For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous,

אוֹorאִישׁa manאֲשֶׁר־יִהְיֶהwhich he shall beבוֹin himשֶׁבֶרa fracture ofרָגֶלa footאוֹorשֶׁבֶרa fracture ofיָד׃a hand
Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

אוֹ־גִבֵּןor a hunchbackאוֹ־דַקor a dwarfאוֹorתְּבַלֻּלa defectבְּעֵינוֹwith his eyeאוֹorגָרָבeczemaאוֹorיַלֶּפֶתscabsאוֹorמְרוֹחַcrushed ofאָשֶׁךְ׃testicle
Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken;

כׇּל־אִישׁevery manאֲשֶׁר־בּוֹin whomמוּםblemishמִזֶּרַעfrom the seed ofאַהֲרֹןAaronהַכֹּהֵןthe priestלֹאnotיִגַּשׁlet him come nearלְהַקְרִיבto offerאֶת־אִשֵּׁיthe fire offerings ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמוּםblemishבּוֹin himאֵת־לֶחֶםbreadאֱלֹהָיוhis Godלֹאnotיִגַּשׁlet him come nearלְהַקְרִיב׃to offer
No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God.

לֶחֶםbreadאֱלֹהָיוhis Godמִקׇּדְשֵׁיfrom the holy things ofהַקֳּדָשִׁיםthe holy thingsוּמִן־הַקֳּדָשִׁיםand from the holy thingsיֹאכֵל׃shall he eat
He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.

אַךְbutאֶל־הַפָּרֹכֶתto the veilלֹאnotיָבֹאshall comeוְאֶל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַand the altarלֹאnotיִגַּשׁlet him come nearכִּי־מוּםbecause imperfectionבּוֹin himוְלֹאand notיְחַלֵּלhe will profaneאֶת־מִקְדָּשַׁיmy sanctuaryכִּיbecauseאֲנִיIיְהֹוָהthe LORDמְקַדְּשָׁם׃who sanctifies them
Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries: for I the LORD do sanctify them.

וַיְדַבֵּרand spokeמֹשֶׁהMosesאֶל־אַהֲרֹןto Aaronוְאֶל־בָּנָיוand his sonsוְאֶל־כׇּל־בְּנֵיand all sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel
And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
