   And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.

   And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.

   וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it wasאִם־זָרַעim-za/RAwhen sowedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוְעָלָהve/a/LAthat came upמִדְיָןMid/YANMidianוַעֲמָלֵקva/A/ma/LEKand Amalekוּבְנֵי־קֶדֶםu/ve/NE-KE/demand children of the eastוְעָלוּve/a/LUand they came upעָלָיו׃a/LAYVagainst him

   And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;

   וַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themוַיַּשְׁחִיתוּvay/yash/CHI/tuand they destroyedאֶת־יְבוּלet-ye/VULthe produce ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landעַד־בּוֹאֲךָad-bo/a/KHAtill you come toעַזָּהAz/ZAGazaוְלֹא־יַשְׁאִירוּve/LO-yash/I/ruand they left noמִחְיָהmich/YAsustenanceבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelוְשֶׂהve/SEnor sheepוָשׁוֹרva/SHORnor oxוַחֲמוֹר׃va/cha/MORnor donkey

   And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.

   For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.

   וַיִּדַּלvay/yid/DALand was impoverishedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofמִדְיָןMid/YANMidianוַיִּזְעֲקוּvay/yiz/a/KUand criedבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelאֶל־יְהֹוָה׃el-Adonaito the LORD

   And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.

   And it came to pass, when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD because of the Midianites,

   וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאִישׁisha manנָבִיאna/VIa prophetאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIהֶעֱלֵיתִיhe/e/LE/tiI brought upאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptוָאֹצִיאva/o/TSIand I brought outאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofעֲבָדִים׃a/va/DIMbondage

   That the LORD sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of bondage;

   וָאַצִּלva/ats/TSILand I deliveredאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִיַּדmiy/YADfrom the hand ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptוּמִיַּדu/miy/YADand out of the hand ofכׇּל־לֹחֲצֵיכֶםkol-lo/cha/tse/KHEMall those who oppressed youוָאֲגָרֵשׁva/a/ga/RESHand I drove outאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMbefore youוָאֶתְּנָהva/et/te/NAand I gaveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־אַרְצָם׃et-ar/TSAMtheir land

   And I delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all that oppressed you, and drave them out from before you, and gave you their land;

    וָאֹמְרָהva/om/RAand I saidלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֲנִיa/NIIיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godלֹאlonotתִירְאוּti/re/Uyou shall fearאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיet-e/lo/HEthe gods ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoriteאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whoseאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areיוֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMare dwellingבְּאַרְצָםbe/ar/TSAMin their landוְלֹאve/LOand notשְׁמַעְתֶּםshe/ma/TEMyou have hearkenedבְּקוֹלִי׃be/ko/LIto My voice

    And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאֵלָהha/e/LAthe oakאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּעׇפְרָהbe/Of/RAin Ophrahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלְיוֹאָשׁle/Yo/ASHbelonged to JoashאֲבִיA/VIthe Abi-הָעֶזְרִיha/ez/RIezriteוְגִדְעוֹןve/Gid/ONand Gideonבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonחֹבֵטcho/VETwas beating outחִטִּיםchit/TIMwheatבַּגַּתbag/GATin the winepressלְהָנִיסle/ha/NISto hide itמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEfromמִדְיָן׃Mid/YANMidian

    And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites.

    וַיֵּרָאvay/ye/RAand appearedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youגִּבּוֹרgib/BORO mighty man ofהֶחָיִל׃he/CHA/yilvalor

    And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.

13. 13

    And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

    וַיִּפֶןvay/YI/fenand turnedאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֵךְlekhgoבְּכֹחֲךָbe/kho/cha/KHAin your mightזֶהzethisוְהוֹשַׁעְתָּve/ho/sha/TAand you shall saveאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelמִכַּףmik/KAFout of the hand ofמִדְיָןMid/YANMidianהֲלֹאha/LOhave notשְׁלַחְתִּיךָ׃she/lach/TI/khaI sent you

    And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבִּיbiOאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYLordבַּמָּהbam/MAwith whatאוֹשִׁיעַo/SHI/ashall I saveאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאַלְפִּיal/PImy clanהַדַּלhad/DALis the poorestבִּמְנַשֶּׁהBim/nash/SHEin Manassehוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIand Iהַצָּעִירhats/tsa/IRam the leastבְּבֵיתbe/VETin the house ofאָבִי׃a/VImy father

    And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house.

16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkisurelyאֶהְיֶהeh/YEI will beעִמָּךְim/MAKHwith youוְהִכִּיתָve/hik/ki/TAand you shall strikeאֶת־מִדְיָןet-Mid/YANMidianכְּאִישׁke/ISHas a manאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאִם־נָאim-naif nowמָצָאתִיma/TSA/tiI have foundחֵןchenfavorבְּעֵינֶיךָbe/e/NE/khain your eyesוְעָשִׂיתָve/a/SI/tathen makeלִּיlifor meאוֹתota signשָׁאַתָּהsha/at/TAthat youמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERare speakingעִמִּי׃im/MIwith me

    And he said unto him, If now I have found grace in thy sight, then shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.

18. 18

    אַל־נָאal-nado not I prayתָמֻשׁta/MUSHdepartמִזֶּהmiz/ZEfrom hereעַד־בֹּאִיad-bo/Iuntil I comeאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato youוְהֹצֵאתִיve/ho/tse/TIand bring outאֶת־מִנְחָתִיet-min/cha/TImy offeringוְהִנַּחְתִּיve/hin/nach/TIand set itלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand he saidאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאֵשֵׁבe/SHEVwill stayעַדaduntilשׁוּבֶךָ׃shu/VE/khayou return

    Depart not hence, I pray thee, until I come unto thee, and bring forth my present, and set it before thee. And he said, I will tarry until thou come again.

    וְגִדְעוֹןve/Gid/ONand Gideonבָּאbawent inוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand preparedגְּדִי־עִזִּיםge/DI-iz/ZIMa kid of goatsוְאֵיפַת־קֶמַחve/e/FAT-KE/machand an ephah of flourמַצּוֹתmats/TSOTunleavened breadהַבָּשָׂרhab/ba/SARthe fleshשָׂםsamhe putבַּסַּלbas/SALin the basketוְהַמָּרַקve/ham/ma/RAKand the brothשָׂםsamhe putבַּפָּרוּרbap/pa/RURin the potוַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand he brought it outאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himאֶל־תַּחַתel-TA/chatto underהָאֵלָהha/e/LAthe oakוַיַּגַּשׁ׃vay/yag/GASHand presented it

    And Gideon went in, and made ready a kid, and unleavened cakes of an ephah of flour: the flesh he put in a basket, and he put the broth in a pot, and brought it out unto him under the oak, and presented it.

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodקַחkachtakeאֶת־הַבָּשָׂרet-hab/ba/SARthe fleshוְאֶת־הַמַּצּוֹתve/ET-ham/mats/TSOTand the unleavened breadוְהַנַּחve/han/NACHand lay themאֶל־הַסֶּלַעel-has/SE/laupon the rockהַלָּזhal/LAZthisוְאֶת־הַמָּרַקve/ET-ham/ma/RAKand the brothשְׁפוֹךְshe/FOKHpour outוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand he didכֵּן׃kenso

    And the angel of God said unto him, Take the flesh and the unleavened cakes, and lay them upon this rock, and pour out the broth. And he did so.

    וַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־קְצֵהet-ke/TSEthe end ofהַמִּשְׁעֶנֶתham/mish/E/netthe staffאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַיִּגַּעvay/yig/GAand he touchedבַּבָּשָׂרbab/ba/SARthe fleshוּבַמַּצּוֹתu/vam/mats/TSOTand the unleavened breadוַתַּעַלvat/TA/aland went upהָאֵשׁha/ESHthe fireמִן־הַצּוּרmin-hats/TSURfrom the rockוַתֹּאכַלvat/TO/khaland consumedאֶת־הַבָּשָׂרet-hab/ba/SARthe fleshוְאֶת־הַמַּצּוֹתve/ET-ham/mats/TSOTand the unleavened breadוּמַלְאַךְu/mal/AKHand the angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהָלַךְha/LAKHdepartedמֵעֵינָיו׃me/e/NAYVfrom his sight

    Then the angel of the LORD put forth the end of the staff that was in his hand, and touched the flesh and the unleavened cakes; and there rose up fire out of the rock, and consumed the flesh and the unleavened cakes. Then the angel of the LORD departed out of his sight.

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonכִּי־מַלְאַךְki-mal/AKHthat the angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהוּאhuhe wasוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonאֲהָהּa/HAalasאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYO LordיֱהֹוִהAdonaiGODכִּי־עַל־כֵּןki-al-kenfor becauseרָאִיתִיra/I/tiI have seenמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDפָּנִיםpa/NIMfaceאֶל־פָּנִים׃el-pa/NIMto face

    And when Gideon perceived that he was an angel of the LORD, Gideon said, Alas, O Lord GOD! for because I have seen an angel of the LORD face to face.

23. 23

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceלְךָle/KHAto youאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearלֹאlonotתָּמוּת׃ta/MUTyou shall die

    And the LORD said unto him, Peace be unto thee; fear not: thou shalt not die.

24. 24

    וַיִּבֶןvay/YI/venand builtשָׁםshamthereגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achan altarלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDוַיִּקְרָא־לוֹvay/yik/RA-loand called itיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORD-שָׁלוֹםsha/LOMis peaceעַדaduntilהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisעוֹדֶנּוּo/DEN/nuit is stillבְּעׇפְרָתbe/Of/RATin OphrahאֲבִיA/VIthe Abi-הָעֶזְרִי׃ha/ez/RIezrite

    Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovah-shalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abi-ezrites.

25. 25

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDקַחkachtakeאֶת־פַּר־הַשּׁוֹרet-par-hash/SHORthe young bullאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלְאָבִיךָle/a/VI/khais your father’sוּפַרu/FAReven the bullהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyears oldוְהָרַסְתָּve/ha/ras/TAand throw downאֶת־מִזְבַּחet-miz/BACHthe altar ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלְאָבִיךָle/a/VI/khais your father’sוְאֶת־הָאֲשֵׁרָהve/ET-ha/a/she/RAand the Asherahאֲשֶׁר־עָלָיוa/SHER-a/LAYVthat is by itתִּכְרֹת׃tikh/ROTcut down

    And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father's young bullock, even the second bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of Baal that thy father hath, and cut down the grove that is by it:

    וּבָנִיתָu/va/NI/taand you will buildמִזְבֵּחַmiz/BE/achan altarלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֶיךָe/lo/HE/khayour Godעַלaluponרֹאשׁroshthe top ofהַמָּעוֹזham/ma/OZstrongholdהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisבַּמַּעֲרָכָהbam/ma/a/ra/KHAin the ordered mannerוְלָקַחְתָּve/la/kach/TAand takeאֶת־הַפָּרet-hap/PARthe bullהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondוְהַעֲלִיתָve/ha/a/LI/taand offerעוֹלָהo/LAa burnt offeringבַּעֲצֵיba/a/TSEwith the wood ofהָאֲשֵׁרָהha/A/she/RAthe Asherahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichתִּכְרֹת׃tikh/ROTyou shall cut down

    And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the grove which thou shalt cut down.

    Then Gideon took ten men of his servants, and did as the LORD had said unto him: and so it was, because he feared his father's household, and the men of the city, that he could not do it by day, that he did it by night.

    וַיַּשְׁכִּימוּvay/yash/KI/muand rose earlyאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdנֻתַּץnut/TATSwas broken downמִזְבַּחmiz/BACHthe altar ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוְהָאֲשֵׁרָהve/Ha/a/she/RAand the Asherahאֲשֶׁר־עָלָיוa/SHER-a/LAYVthat was by itכֹּרָתָהko/RA/tawas cut downוְאֵתve/ETandהַפָּרhap/PARthe bullהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondהֹעֲלָהho/a/LAwas offeredעַל־הַמִּזְבֵּחַal-ham/miz/BE/achupon the altarהַבָּנוּי׃hab/ba/NUYthat was built

    And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of Baal was cast down, and the grove was cut down that was by it, and the second bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.

29. 29

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidאִישׁisha manאֶל־רֵעֵהוּel-re/E/huto his neighborמִיmiwhoעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisוַיִּדְרְשׁוּvay/yid/re/SHUand they inquiredוַיְבַקְשׁוּvay/vak/SHUand soughtוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonבֶּן־יוֹאָשׁben-Yo/ASHthe son of Joashעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe thingהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And they said one to another, Who hath done this thing? And when they enquired and asked, they said, Gideon the son of Joash hath done this thing.

30. 30

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהָעִירha/IRthe cityאֶל־יוֹאָשׁel-Yo/ASHto Joashהוֹצֵאho/TSEbring outאֶת־בִּנְךָet-bin/KHAyour sonוְיָמֹתve/ya/MOTthat he may dieכִּיkiforנָתַץna/TATShe has broken downאֶת־מִזְבַּחet-miz/BACHthe altar ofהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalוְכִיve/KHIand becauseכָרַתkha/RAThe has cut downהָאֲשֵׁרָהha/A/she/RAthe Asherahאֲשֶׁר־עָלָיו׃a/SHER-a/LAYVthat was by it

    Then the men of the city said unto Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of Baal, and because he hath cut down the grove that was by it.

31. 31

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיוֹאָשׁYo/ASHJoashלְכֹלle/KHOLto allאֲשֶׁר־עָמְדוּa/SHER-a/me/DUwho stoodעָלָיוa/LAYVagainst himהַאַתֶּםha/at/TEMwill youתְּרִיבוּןte/ri/VUNcontendלַבַּעַלlab/BA/alfor the Baalאִם־אַתֶּםim-at/TEMor will youתּוֹשִׁיעוּןto/shi/UNsaveאוֹתוֹo/TOhimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoeverיָרִיבya/RIVcontendsלוֹlofor himיוּמַתyu/MATshall be put to deathעַד־הַבֹּקֶרad-hab/BO/kerby the morningאִם־אֱלֹהִיםim-e/lo/HIMif a godהוּאhuhe isיָרֶבYA/revlet him contendלוֹlofor himselfכִּיkiforנָתַץna/TATSone has broken downאֶת־מִזְבְּחוֹ׃et-miz/be/CHOhis altar

    And Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye plead for Baal? will ye save him? he that will plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.

32. 32

    וַיִּקְרָא־לוֹvay/yik/RA-loand he called himבַיּוֹם־הַהוּאvay/YOM-ha/HUin that dayיְרֻבַּעַלYe/rub/BA/alJerubbaalלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingיָרֶבYA/revlet contendבּוֹboagainst himהַבַּעַלhab/BA/althe Baalכִּיkibecauseנָתַץna/TATShe has broken downאֶת־מִזְבְּחוֹ׃et-miz/be/CHOhis altar

    Therefore on that day he called him Jerubbaal, saying, Let Baal plead against him, because he hath thrown down his altar.

33. 33

    וְכׇל־מִדְיָןve/KHOL-mid/YANand all Midianוַעֲמָלֵקva/A/ma/LEKand Amalekוּבְנֵי־קֶדֶםu/ve/NE-KE/demand the children of the eastנֶאֶסְפוּne/es/FUwere gatheredיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherוַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand went overוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampedבְּעֵמֶקbe/E/mekin the valley ofיִזְרְעֶאל׃Yiz/re/ELJezreel

    Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the children of the east were gathered together, and went over, and pitched in the valley of Jezreel.

34. 34

    וְרוּחַve/RU/achand the Spirit ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָבְשָׁהla/ve/SHAclothedאֶת־גִּדְעוֹןet-Gid/ONGideonוַיִּתְקַעvay/yit/KAand he blewבַּשּׁוֹפָרbash/sho/FARthe trumpetוַיִּזָּעֵקvay/yiz/za/EKand was gatheredאֲבִיעֶזֶרA/vi/E/zerAbiezerאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    But the Spirit of the LORD came upon Gideon, and he blew a trumpet; and Abi-ezer was gathered after him.

35. 35

    וּמַלְאָכִיםu/mal/a/KHIMand messengersשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe sentבְּכׇל־מְנַשֶּׁהbe/KHOL-me/nash/SHEthroughout all Manassehוַיִּזָּעֵקvay/yiz/za/EKand was gatheredגַּם־הוּאgam-huit alsoאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himוּמַלְאָכִיםu/mal/a/KHIMand messengersשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe sentבְּאָשֵׁרbe/A/SHERto Asherוּבִזְבֻלוּןu/Viz/vu/LUNand to Zebulunוּבְנַפְתָּלִיu/ve/Naf/ta/LIand to Naphtaliוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand they came upלִקְרָאתָם׃lik/ra/TAMto meet them

    And he sent messengers throughout all Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he sent messengers unto Asher, and unto Zebulun, and unto Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.

36. 36

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMto Godאִם־יֶשְׁךָim-yesh/KHAif You willמוֹשִׁיעַmo/SHI/asaveבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIby my handאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/taYou have spoken

    And Gideon said unto God, If thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,

37. 37

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמַצִּיגmats/TSIGwill putאֶת־גִּזַּתet-giz/ZATthe fleece ofהַצֶּמֶרhats/TSE/merthe woolבַּגֹּרֶןbag/GO/renon the threshing floorאִםimifטַלtaldewיִהְיֶהyih/YEbeעַל־הַגִּזָּהal-hag/giz/ZAon the fleeceלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAonlyוְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץve/AL-kol-ha/A/retsand on all the groundחֹרֶבCHO/revdryוְיָדַעְתִּיve/ya/DA/tithen I shall knowכִּי־תוֹשִׁיעַki-to/SHI/athat You will saveבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIby my handאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבַּרְתָּ׃dib/BAR/taYou have spoken

    Behold, I will put a fleece of wool in the floor; and if the dew be on the fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.

38. 38

    וַיְהִי־כֵןvay/HI-khenand it was soוַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand he rose earlyמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayוַיָּזַרvay/YA/zarand he pressedאֶת־הַגִּזָּהet-hag/giz/ZAthe fleeceוַיִּמֶץvay/YI/metsand wrungטַלtaldewמִן־הַגִּזָּהmin-hag/giz/ZAfrom the fleeceמְלוֹאme/LOa fullהַסֵּפֶלhas/SE/felthe bowlמָיִם׃MA/yimof water

    And it was so: for he rose up early on the morrow, and thrust the fleece together, and wringed the dew out of the fleece, a bowl full of water.

39. 39

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidגִּדְעוֹןGid/ONGideonאֶל־הָאֱלֹהִיםel-ha/e/lo/HIMto Godאַל־יִחַרal-YI/charlet not burnאַפְּךָap/pe/KHAYour angerבִּיbiagainst meוַאֲדַבְּרָהva/a/dab/be/RAand let me speakאַךְakhonlyהַפָּעַםhap/PA/amthis onceאֲנַסֶּהa/nas/SElet me testנָּא־רַק־הַפַּעַםna-rak-hap/PA/amI pray only this onceבַּגִּזָּהbag/giz/ZAwith the fleeceיְהִי־נָאye/HI-nalet it be I prayחֹרֶבCHO/revdryאֶל־הַגִּזָּהel-hag/giz/ZAon the fleeceלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAonlyוְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץve/AL-kol-ha/A/retsand on all the groundיִהְיֶה־טָּל׃yih/YE-tallet there be dew

    And Gideon said unto God, Let not thine anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the fleece; let it now be dry only upon the fleece, and upon all the ground let there be dew.

40. 40

    וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodכֵּןkensoבַּלַּיְלָהbal/LAY/lain the nightהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיְהִי־חֹרֶבvay/HI-CHO/revand it was dryאֶל־הַגִּזָּהel-hag/giz/ZAon the fleeceלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAonlyוְעַל־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץve/AL-kol-ha/A/retsand on all the groundהָיָהha/YAthere wasטָל׃taldew

    And God did so that night: for it was dry upon the fleece only, and there was dew on all the ground.
