   Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

   Praise ye the LORD for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

   שִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearמְלָכִיםme/la/KHIMO kingsהַאֲזִינוּha/a/ZI/nugive earרֹזְנִיםroz/NIMO princesאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIאָשִׁירָהa/SHI/rawill singאֲזַמֵּרa/zam/MERI will sing praiseלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.

   LORD, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

   The mountains melted from before the LORD, even that Sinai from before the LORD God of Israel.

   In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

   The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

   They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?

   לִבִּיlib/BImy heart isלְחוֹקְקֵיle/chok/KEtoward the governors ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהַמִּתְנַדְּבִיםham/mit/nad/de/VIMwho offered themselves willinglyבָּעָםba/AMamong the peopleבָּרְכוּba/re/KHUblessיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

   My heart is toward the governors of Israel, that offered themselves willingly among the people. Bless ye the LORD.

    רֹכְבֵיrokh/VEyou who rideאֲתֹנוֹתa/to/NOTshe-donkeysצְחֹרוֹתtse/cho/ROTwhiteיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEyou who sitעַל־מִדִּיןal-mid/DINin judgmentוְהֹלְכֵיve/hol/KHEand you who walkעַל־דֶּרֶךְal-DE/rekhby the wayשִׂיחוּ׃SI/chuspeak

    Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

    מִקּוֹלmik/KOLfrom the noise ofמְחַצְצִיםme/chats/TSIMarchersבֵּיןbenbetweenמַשְׁאַבִּיםmash/ab/BIMwatering placesשָׁםshamthereיְתַנּוּye/tan/NUthey shall rehearseצִדְקוֹתtsid/KOTthe righteous acts ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצִדְקֹתtsid/KOTthe righteous actsפִּרְזוֹנוֹpir/zo/NOof his villagesבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלbe/Yis/ra/ELin Israelאָזazthenיָרְדוּya/re/DUwent downלַשְּׁעָרִיםlash/she/a/RIMto the gatesעַם־יְהֹוָה׃am-Adonaithe people of the LORD

    They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the LORD, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the LORD go down to the gates.

    Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

    Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the LORD made me have dominion over the mighty.

    Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.

    וְשָׂרַיve/sa/RAYand the princes ofבְּיִשָּׂשכָרbe/Yis/sash/KHARin Issacharעִם־דְּבֹרָהim-De/vo/RAwith Deborahוְיִשָּׂשכָרve/Yis/sash/KHARand Issacharכֵּןkenso wasבָּרָקBa/RAKBarakבָּעֵמֶקba/E/mekinto the valleyשֻׁלַּחshul/LACHwas sentבְּרַגְלָיוbe/rag/LAYVon footבִּפְלַגּוֹתbif/lag/GOTamong the clans ofרְאוּבֵןRe/u/VENReubenגְּדֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatחִקְקֵי־לֵב׃chik/KE-levresolves of heart

    And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyיָשַׁבְתָּya/SHAV/tadid you sitבֵּיןbenamongהַמִּשְׁפְּתַיִםham/mish/pe/TA/yimthe sheepfoldsלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/ato hearשְׁרִקוֹתshe/ri/KOTthe piping forעֲדָרִיםa/da/RIMthe flocksלִפְלַגּוֹתlif/lag/GOTfor the clans ofרְאוּבֵןRe/u/VENReubenגְּדוֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatחִקְרֵי־לֵב׃chik/RE-levsearchings of heart

    Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

    Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

    זְבֻלוּןZe/vu/LUNZebulunעַםama peopleחֵרֵףche/REFriskedנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOtheir lifeלָמוּתla/MUTto the deathוְנַפְתָּלִיve/Naf/ta/LIand Naphtaliעַלalonמְרוֹמֵיme/ro/MEthe heights ofשָׂדֶה׃sa/DEthe field

    Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

19. 19

    בָּאוּBA/ucameמְלָכִיםme/la/KHIMkingsנִלְחָמוּnil/CHA/mufoughtאָזazthenנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUfoughtמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofכְנַעַןKhe/NA/anCanaanבְּתַעְנַךְbe/Ta/NAKHat Taanachעַל־מֵיal-meby the waters ofמְגִדּוֹMe/gid/DOMegiddoבֶּצַעBE/tsagain ofכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverלֹאlonotלָקָחוּ׃la/KA/chuthey took

    The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20. 20

    מִן־שָׁמַיִםmin-sha/MA/yimfrom heavenנִלְחָמוּnil/CHA/muthey foughtהַכּוֹכָבִיםhak/ko/kha/VIMthe starsמִמְּסִלּוֹתָםmim/me/sil/lo/TAMfrom their coursesנִלְחֲמוּnil/cha/MUfoughtעִם־סִיסְרָא׃im-Si/se/RAagainst Sisera

    They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

21. 21

    נַחַלNA/chalthe brookקִישׁוֹןKi/SHONKishonגְּרָפָםge/ra/FAMswept them awayנַחַלNA/chalthe brook ofקְדוּמִיםke/du/MIMoldנַחַלNA/chalthe brookקִישׁוֹןKi/SHONKishonתִּדְרְכִיtid/re/KHImarch onנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHIO my soulעֹז׃ozwith strength

    The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

22. 22

    אָזazthenהָלְמוּha/le/MUhammeredעִקְּבֵי־סוּסik/ke/VE-susthe horses’ hoofsמִדַּהֲרוֹתmid/da/ha/ROTbecause of the gallopingדַּהֲרוֹתda/ha/ROTthe galloping ofאַבִּירָיו׃ab/bi/RAYVhis mighty ones

    Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

23. 23

    אוֹרוּO/rucurseמֵרוֹזMe/ROZMerozאָמַרa/MARsaidמַלְאַךְmal/AKHthe angel ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֹרוּO/rucurseאָרוֹרa/RORcurseיֹשְׁבֶיהָyosh/VE/haits inhabitantsכִּיkibecauseלֹא־בָאוּlo-VA/uthey did not comeלְעֶזְרַתle/ez/RATto the help ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְעֶזְרַתle/ez/RATto the help ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבַּגִּבּוֹרִים׃bag/gib/bo/RIMagainst the mighty

    Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

    תְּבֹרַךְte/vo/RAKHshall be blessedמִנָּשִׁיםmin/na/SHIMabove womenיָעֵלYa/ELJaelאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofחֶבֶרCHE/verHeberהַקֵּינִיhak/Ke/NIthe Keniteמִנָּשִׁיםmin/na/SHIMabove womenבָּאֹהֶלba/O/helin the tentתְּבֹרָךְ׃te/vo/RAKHshall she be blessed

    Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

    מַיִםMA/yimwaterשָׁאַלsha/ALhe askedחָלָבcha/LAVmilkנָתָנָהna/TA/nashe gaveבְּסֵפֶלbe/SE/felin a bowl ofאַדִּירִיםad/di/RIMnoblesהִקְרִיבָהhik/RI/vashe broughtחֶמְאָה׃chem/Abutter

    He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

    יָדָהּya/DAher handלַיָּתֵדlay/ya/TEDto the pegתִּשְׁלַחְנָהtish/LACH/nashe put outוִימִינָהּvi/mi/NAand her right handלְהַלְמוּתle/hal/MUTto the hammer ofעֲמֵלִיםa/me/LIMthe workmenוְהָלְמָהve/ha/le/MAand she struckסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraמָחֲקָהma/cha/KAshe crushedרֹאשׁוֹro/SHOhis headוּמָחֲצָהu/ma/cha/TSAand she shatteredוְחָלְפָהve/cha/le/FAand pierced throughרַקָּתוֹ׃rak/ka/TOhis temple

    She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

    At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

    The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

    Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,

    הֲלֹאha/LOhave they notיִמְצְאוּyim/tse/Ufoundיְחַלְּקוּye/chal/le/KUdividedשָׁלָלsha/LALspoilרַחַםRA/chama damselרַחֲמָתַיִםra/cha/ma/TA/yimtwo damselsלְרֹאשׁle/ROSHfor everyגֶּבֶרGE/vermanשְׁלַלshe/LALspoil ofצְבָעִיםtse/va/IMdyed garmentsלְסִיסְרָאle/Si/se/RAfor Siseraשְׁלַלshe/LALspoil ofצְבָעִיםtse/va/IMdyed garmentsרִקְמָהrik/MAembroideredצֶבַעTSE/vadyedרִקְמָתַיִםrik/ma/TA/yimdoubly embroideredלְצַוְּארֵיle/tsav/ve/REfor the necks ofשָׁלָל׃sha/LALthe spoil

    Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?

31. 31

    כֵּןkensoיֹאבְדוּyo/ve/DUlet perishכׇל־אוֹיְבֶיךָkhol-oy/VE/khaall Your enemiesיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDוְאֹהֲבָיוve/o/ha/VAYVbut those who love Himכְּצֵאתke/TSETas goes outהַשֶּׁמֶשׁhash/SHE/meshthe sunבִּגְבֻרָתוֹbig/vu/ra/TOin its mightוַתִּשְׁקֹטvat/tish/KOTand restedהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָה׃sha/NAyears

    So let all thine enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
