   And the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, when Ehud was dead.

   And the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, that reigned in Hazor; the captain of whose host was Sisera, which dwelt in Harosheth of the Gentiles.

   And the children of Israel cried unto the LORD: for he had nine hundred chariots of iron; and twenty years he mightily oppressed the children of Israel.

   And Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lapidoth, she judged Israel at that time.

   וְהִיאve/HIand sheיוֹשֶׁבֶתyo/SHE/vetused to sitתַּחַת־תֹּמֶרTA/chat-TO/merunder the palm ofדְּבוֹרָהDe/vo/RADeborahבֵּיןbenbetweenהָרָמָהHa/ra/MARamahוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenבֵּית־אֵלBet-elBeth-elבְּהַרbe/HARin the hill country ofאֶפְרָיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimוַיַּעֲלוּvay/ya/a/LUand came upאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלַמִּשְׁפָּט׃lam/mish/PATfor judgment

   And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment.

   And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?

   And I will draw unto thee to the river Kishon Sisera, the captain of Jabin's army, with his chariots and his multitude; and I will deliver him into thine hand.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herבָּרָקBa/RAKBarakאִם־תֵּלְכִיim-tel/KHIif you goעִמִּיim/MIwith meוְהָלָכְתִּיve/ha/LAKH/tithen I will goוְאִם־לֹאve/IM-lobut if notתֵלְכִיtel/KHIyou goעִמִּיim/MIwith meלֹאlonotאֵלֵךְ׃e/LEKHI will go

   And Barak said unto her, If thou wilt go with me, then I will go: but if thou wilt not go with me, then I will not go.

   And she said, I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman. And Deborah arose, and went with Barak to Kedesh.

    וַיַּזְעֵקvay/yaz/EKand calledבָּרָקBa/RAKBarakאֶת־זְבוּלֻןet-Ze/vu/LUNZebulunוְאֶת־נַפְתָּלִיve/ET-naf/ta/LIand NaphtaliקֶדְשָׁהKED/shato Kedeshוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upבְּרַגְלָיוbe/rag/LAYVat his feetעֲשֶׂרֶתa/SE/rettenאַלְפֵיal/FEthousandאִישׁishmenוַתַּעַלvat/TA/aland she went upעִמּוֹim/MOwith himדְּבוֹרָה׃De/vo/RADeborah

    And Barak called Zebulun and Naphtali to Kedesh; and he went up with ten thousand men at his feet: and Deborah went up with him.

    וְחֶבֶרve/CHE/verand Heberהַקֵּינִיhak/Ke/NIthe Keniteנִפְרָדnif/RADhad separatedמִקַּיִןmik/KA/yinfrom the Kenitesמִבְּנֵיmib/be/NEfrom the children ofחֹבָבCho/VAVHobabחֹתֵןcho/TENthe father-in-law ofמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesוַיֵּטvay/YETand had pitchedאׇהֳלוֹo/ho/LOhis tentעַד־אֵילוֹןad-e/LONas far as the oak[בְּצַעֲנַנִּים]Be/tsa/a/nan/NIMin Zaanannimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isאֶת־קֶדֶשׁ׃et-KE/deshby Kedesh

    Now Heber the Kenite, which was of the children of Hobab the father in law of Moses, had severed himself from the Kenites, and pitched his tent unto the plain of Zaanaim, which is by Kedesh.

12. 12

    וַיַּגִּדוּvay/yag/GI/duand they toldלְסִיסְרָאLe/si/se/RASiseraכִּיkithatעָלָהa/LAhad gone upבָּרָקBa/RAKBarakבֶּן־אֲבִינֹעַםben-A/vi/NO/amthe son of Abinoamהַר־תָּבוֹר׃haR-ta/VORto Mount Tabor

    And they shewed Sisera that Barak the son of Abinoam was gone up to mount Tabor.

13. 13

    וַיַּזְעֵקvay/yaz/EKand called togetherסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraאֶת־כׇּל־רִכְבּוֹet-kol-rikh/BOall his chariotsתְּשַׁעte/SHAnineמֵאוֹתme/OThundredרֶכֶבRE/khevchariots ofבַּרְזֶלbar/ZELironוְאֶת־כׇּל־הָעָםve/ET-kol-ha/AMand all the peopleאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereאִתּוֹit/TOwith himמֵחֲרֹשֶׁתme/Cha/RO/shetfrom Haroshethהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMof the Gentilesאֶל־נַחַלel-NA/chalto the brookקִישׁוֹן׃Ki/SHONKishon

    And Sisera gathered together all his chariots, even nine hundred chariots of iron, and all the people that were with him, from Harosheth of the Gentiles unto the river of Kishon.

    וַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidדְּבֹרָהDe/vo/RADeborahאֶל־בָּרָקel-Ba/RAKto Barakקוּםkumupכִּיkiforזֶהzethis isהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whichנָתַןna/TANhas deliveredיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־סִיסְרָאet-Si/se/RASiseraבְּיָדֶךָbe/ya/DE/khainto your handהֲלֹאha/LOhas notיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיָצָאya/TSAgone outלְפָנֶיךָle/fa/NE/khabefore youוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redso went downבָּרָקBa/RAKBarakמֵהַרme/HARfrom MountתָּבוֹרTa/VORTaborוַעֲשֶׂרֶתva/a/SE/retand tenאֲלָפִיםa/la/FIMthousandאִישׁishmenאַחֲרָיו׃a/cha/RAYVafter him

    And Deborah said unto Barak, Up; for this is the day in which the LORD hath delivered Sisera into thine hand: is not the LORD gone out before thee? So Barak went down from mount Tabor, and ten thousand men after him.

    וַיָּהׇםvay/YA/homand routedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־סִיסְרָאet-Si/se/RASiseraוְאֶת־כׇּל־הָרֶכֶבve/ET-kol-ha/RE/khevand all his chariotsוְאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּחֲנֶהve/ET-kol-ham/ma/cha/NEand all the campלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revwith the edge of the swordלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeבָרָקVa/RAKBarakוַיֵּרֶדvay/YE/redso alightedסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraמֵעַלme/ALfromהַמֶּרְכָּבָהham/mer/ka/VAthe chariotוַיָּנׇסvay/YA/nosand he fledבְּרַגְלָיו׃be/rag/LAYVon foot

    And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

    וּבָרָקu/Va/RAKand Barakרָדַףra/DAFpursuedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהָרֶכֶבha/RE/khevthe chariotsוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterהַמַּחֲנֶהham/ma/cha/NEthe campעַדadas far asחֲרֹשֶׁתCha/RO/shetHaroshethהַגּוֹיִםhag/Go/YIMof the Gentilesוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellכׇּל־מַחֲנֵהkol-ma/cha/NEall the army ofסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revby the edge of the swordלֹאlonotנִשְׁאַרnish/ARwas leftעַד־אֶחָד׃ad-e/CHADeven one

    But Barak pursued after the chariots, and after the host, unto Harosheth of the Gentiles: and all the host of Sisera fell upon the edge of the sword; and there was not a man left.

17. 17

    וְסִיסְרָאve/Si/se/RAand Siseraנָסnasfledבְּרַגְלָיוbe/rag/LAYVon footאֶל־אֹהֶלel-O/helto the tent ofיָעֵלYa/ELJaelאֵשֶׁתE/shetthe wife ofחֶבֶרCHE/verHeberהַקֵּינִיhak/Ke/NIthe Keniteכִּיkiforשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMthere was peaceבֵּיןbenbetweenיָבִיןYa/VINJabinמֶלֶךְ־חָצוֹרME/lekh-Cha/TSORthe king of Hazorוּבֵיןu/VENand betweenבֵּיתbetthe house ofחֶבֶרCHE/verHeberהַקֵּינִי׃hak/Ke/NIthe Kenite

    Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of Heber the Kenite.

18. 18

    וַתֵּצֵאvat/te/TSEand went outיָעֵלYa/ELJaelלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himסוּרָהsu/RAturn asideאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordסוּרָהsu/RAturn asideאֵלַיe/LAYto meאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarso he turned asideאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהָאֹהֱלָהha/O/he/lato the tentוַתְּכַסֵּהוּvat/te/khas/SE/huand she covered himבַּשְּׂמִיכָה׃bas/se/mi/KHAwith a blanket

    And Jael went out to meet Sisera, and said unto him, Turn in, my lord, turn in to me; fear not. And when he had turned in unto her into the tent, she covered him with a mantle.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herהַשְׁקִינִי־נָאhash/KI/ni-nagive me please to drinkמְעַט־מַיִםme/AT-MA/yima little waterכִּיkiforצָמֵאתִיtsa/ME/tiI am thirstyוַתִּפְתַּחvat/tif/TACHso she openedאֶת־נֹאודet-noda skin ofהֶחָלָבhe/cha/LAVmilkוַתַּשְׁקֵהוּvat/tash/KE/huand gave him a drinkוַתְּכַסֵּהוּ׃vat/te/khas/SE/huand she covered him

    And he said unto her, Give me, I pray thee, a little water to drink; for I am thirsty. And she opened a bottle of milk, and gave him drink, and covered him.

20. 20

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herעֲמֹדa/MODstandפֶּתַחPE/tachat the door ofהָאֹהֶלha/O/helthe tentוְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beאִם־אִישׁim-ishif any manיָבֹאya/VOshall comeוּשְׁאֵלֵךְu/she/e/LEKHand asks youוְאָמַרve/a/MARand saysהֲיֵשׁ־פֹּהha/YESH-pois there hereאִישׁisha manוְאָמַרְתְּve/a/MARTthen you shall sayאָיִן׃A/yinno

    Again he said unto her, Stand in the door of the tent, and it shall be, when any man doth come and enquire of thee, and say, Is there any man here? that thou shalt say, No.

21. 21

    וַתִּקַּחvat/tik/KACHand she tookיָעֵלYa/ELJaelאֵשֶׁת־חֶבֶרE/shet-CHE/verHeber’s wifeאֶת־יְתַדet-ye/TADa peg ofהָאֹהֶלha/O/helthe tentוַתָּשֶׂםvat/TA/semand putאֶת־הַמַּקֶּבֶתet-ham/mak/KE/vetthe hammerבְּיָדָהּbe/ya/DAin her handוַתָּבוֹאvat/ta/VOand wentאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himבַּלָּאטbal/LATsoftlyוַתִּתְקַעvat/tit/KAand droveאֶת־הַיָּתֵדet-hay/ya/TEDthe pegבְּרַקָּתוֹbe/rak/ka/TOinto his templeוַתִּצְנַחvat/tits/NACHand it went downבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsinto the groundוְהוּא־נִרְדָּםve/HU-nir/DAMfor he was fast asleepוַיָּעַףvay/YA/afand wearyוַיָּמֹת׃vay/ya/MOTso he died

    Then Jael Heber's wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdבָרָקVa/RAKBarakרֹדֵףro/DEFpursuedאֶת־סִיסְרָאet-Si/se/RASiseraוַתֵּצֵאvat/te/TSEand went outיָעֵלYa/ELJaelלִקְרָאתוֹlik/ra/TOto meet himוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/merand saidלוֹloto himלֵךְlekhcomeוְאַרְאֶךָּve/ar/EK/kaand I will show youאֶת־הָאִישׁet-ha/ISHthe manאֲשֶׁר־אַתָּהa/SHER-at/TAwhom youמְבַקֵּשׁme/vak/KESHseekוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand when he cameאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato herוְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdסִיסְרָאSi/se/RASiseraנֹפֵלno/FELlayמֵתmetdeadוְהַיָּתֵדve/hay/ya/TEDand the pegבְּרַקָּתוֹ׃be/rak/ka/TOin his temple

    And, behold, as Barak pursued Sisera, Jael came out to meet him, and said unto him, Come, and I will shew thee the man whom thou seekest. And when he came into her tent, behold, Sisera lay dead, and the nail was in his temples.

    So God subdued on that day Jabin the king of Canaan before the children of Israel.

24. 24

    וַתֵּלֶךְvat/TE/lekhand wentיַדyadthe hand ofבְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoingוְקָשָׁהve/ka/SHAand harderעַלalagainstיָבִיןYa/VINJabinמֶלֶךְ־כְּנָעַןME/lekh-Ke/NA/anthe king of Canaanעַדaduntilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִכְרִיתוּhikh/RI/tuthey had destroyedאֵת־יָבִיןet-Ya/VINJabinמֶלֶךְ־כְּנָעַן׃ME/lekh-Ke/NA/anthe king of Canaan

    And the hand of the children of Israel prospered, and prevailed against Jabin the king of Canaan, until they had destroyed Jabin king of Canaan.
