   And the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and went northward, and said unto Jephthah, Wherefore passedst thou over to fight against the children of Ammon, and didst not call us to go with thee? we will burn thine house upon thee with fire.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִפְתָּחYif/TACHJephthahאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themאִישׁisha man ofרִיבrivstrifeהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiwasאֲנִיa/NIIוְעַמִּיve/am/MIand my peopleוּבְנֵי־עַמּוֹןu/ve/NE-am/MONand the children of Ammonמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyוָאֶזְעַקva/ez/AKand when I calledאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוְלֹא־הוֹשַׁעְתֶּםve/LO-ho/sha/TEMyou did not saveאוֹתִיo/TImeמִיָּדָם׃miy/ya/DAMout of their hand

   And Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great strife with the children of Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.

   וָאֶרְאֶהva/er/Eand I sawכִּי־אֵינְךָki-e/ne/KHAthat you were noמוֹשִׁיעַmo/SHI/asaviorוָאָשִׂימָהva/a/SI/maI putנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy lifeבְכַפִּיve/khap/PIin my handוָאֶעְבְּרָהva/e/be/RAand passed overאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEagainst the children ofעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand delivered themיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIinto my handוְלָמָהve/la/MAwhy thenעֲלִיתֶםa/li/TEMhave you come upאֵלַיe/LAYto meהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהִלָּחֶםle/hil/LA/chemto fightבִּי׃biagainst me

   And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?

   Then Jephthah gathered together all the men of Gilead, and fought with Ephraim: and the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Ye Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites, and among the Manassites.

   And the Gileadites took the passages of Jordan before the Ephraimites: and it was so, that when those Ephraimites which were escaped said, Let me go over; that the men of Gilead said unto him, Art thou an Ephraimite? If he said, Nay;

   וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidלוֹloto himאֱמׇר־נָאe/MOR-nasay nowשִׁבֹּלֶתShib/BO/letShibbolethוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidסִבֹּלֶתSib/BO/letSibbolethוְלֹאve/LOfor notיָכִיןya/KHINhe could manageלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto pronounceכֵּןkenrightlyוַיֹּאחֲזוּvay/yo/cha/ZUthen they seizedאוֹתוֹo/TOhimוַיִּשְׁחָטוּהוּvay/yish/cha/TU/huand slew himאֶל־מַעְבְּרוֹתel-ma/be/ROTat the fords ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand there fellבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatמֵאֶפְרַיִםme/Ef/RA/yimof Ephraimאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyוּשְׁנַיִםu/she/NA/yimand twoאָלֶף׃A/lefthousand

   Then said they unto him, Say now Shibboleth: and he said Sibboleth: for he could not frame to pronounce it right. Then they took him, and slew him at the passages of Jordan: and there fell at that time of the Ephraimites forty and two thousand.

   וַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedיִפְתָּחYif/TACHJephthahאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelשֵׁשׁsheshsixשָׁנִיםsha/NIMyearsוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motthen diedיִפְתָּחYif/TACHJephthahהַגִּלְעָדִיhag/Gil/a/DIthe Gileaditeוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּעָרֵיbe/a/REin the cities ofגִלְעָד׃Gil/ADGilead

   And Jephthah judged Israel six years. Then died Jephthah the Gileadite, and was buried in one of the cities of Gilead.

   וַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelאִבְצָןIv/TSANIbzanמִבֵּיתmib/BETof Beth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

   And after him Ibzan of Beth-lehem judged Israel.

   וַיְהִי־לוֹvay/HI-loand he hadשְׁלֹשִׁיםshe/lo/SHIMthirtyבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםu/she/lo/SHIMand thirtyבָּנוֹתba/NOTdaughtersשִׁלַּחshil/LACHhe sentהַחוּצָהha/CHU/tsaabroadוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםu/she/lo/SHIMand thirtyבָּנוֹתba/NOTdaughtersהֵבִיאhe/VIhe brought inלְבָנָיוle/va/NAYVfor his sonsמִן־הַחוּץmin-ha/CHUTSfrom abroadוַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand he judgedאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

   And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motthen diedאִבְצָןIv/TSANIbzanוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּבֵיתbe/VETin Beth-לָחֶם׃LA/chemlehem

    Then died Ibzan, and was buried at Beth-lehem.

    וַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelאֵילוֹןE/LONElonהַזְּבוּלֹנִיhaz/Ze/vu/lo/NIthe Zebuloniteוַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelעֶשֶׂרE/sertenשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

    And after him Elon, a Zebulonite, judged Israel; and he judged Israel ten years.

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedאֵילוֹןE/LONElonהַזְּבוּלֹנִיhaz/Ze/vu/lo/NIthe Zebuloniteוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּאַיָּלוֹןbe/Ay/ya/LONin Aijalonבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofזְבוּלֻן׃Ze/vu/LUNZebulun

    And Elon the Zebulonite died, and was buried in Aijalon in the country of Zebulun.

    וַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand judgedאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelעַבְדּוֹןAv/DONAbdonבֶּן־הִלֵּלben-Hil/LELthe son of Hillelהַפִּרְעָתוֹנִי׃hap/Pir/a/to/NIthe Pirathonite

    And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.

    וַיְהִי־לוֹvay/HI-loand he hadאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyבָּנִיםba/NIMsonsוּשְׁלֹשִׁיםu/she/lo/SHIMand thirtyבְּנֵיbe/NEsons ofבָנִיםva/NIMsonsרֹכְבִיםrokh/VIMwho rodeעַל־שִׁבְעִיםal-shiv/IMon seventyעֲיָרִםa/ya/RIMdonkey coltsוַיִּשְׁפֹּטvay/yish/POTand he judgedאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelשְׁמֹנֶהshe/mo/NEeightשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

    And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten ass colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

15. 15

    וַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motand diedעַבְדּוֹןAv/DONAbdonבֶּן־הִלֵּלben-Hil/LELthe son of Hillelהַפִּרְעָתוֹנִיhap/Pir/a/to/NIthe Pirathoniteוַיִּקָּבֵרvay/yik/ka/VERand was buriedבְּפִרְעָתוֹןbe/Fir/a/TONat Pirathonבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofאֶפְרַיִםEf/RA/yimEphraimבְּהַרbe/HARin the hill country ofהָעֲמָלֵקִי׃ha/A/ma/le/KIthe Amalekites

    And Abdon the son of Hillel the Pirathonite died, and was buried in Pirathon in the land of Ephraim, in the mount of the Amalekites.
