    וַיֹּסִיפוּand they repeatedבְּנֵיthe sons ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelלַעֲשׂוֹתto doהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינֵיin the eyes ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיִּתְּנֵםand made themיְהֹוָהthe LORDבְּיַד־פְּלִשְׁתִּיםin the hand of Philistinesאַרְבָּעִיםfortyשָׁנָה׃years

    And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of the LORD; and the LORD delivered them into the hand of the Philistines forty years.

    וַיְהִיand it came to passאִישׁa manאֶחָדoneמִצׇּרְעָהfrom Zorahמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתof the family ofהַדָּנִיthe Danitesוּשְׁמוֹand his nameמָנוֹחַManoahוְאִשְׁתּוֹand his wifeעֲקָרָהbarrenוְלֹאand notיָלָדָה׃she bore

    And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not.

    וַיֵּרָאand appearedמַלְאַךְ־יְהֹוָהangel of the LORDאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהto the womanוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלֶיהָto herהִנֵּה־נָאbehold I prayאַתְּ־עֲקָרָהyou are barrenוְלֹאand notיָלַדְתְּyou have borne childrenוְהָרִיתand you will conceiveוְיָלַדְתְּand you will bearבֵּן׃a son

    And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.

    וְעַתָּהand nowהִשָּׁמְרִיtake careנָאI prayוְאַל־תִּשְׁתִּיand do not drinkיַיִןwineוְשֵׁכָרand strong drinkוְאַל־תֹּאכְלִיand do not eatכׇּל־טָמֵא׃all unclean

    Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing:

    כִּיbecauseהִנָּךְbehold youהָרָהshall conceiveוְיֹלַדְתְּand you will bearבֵּןa sonוּמוֹרָהand a razorלֹא־יַעֲלֶהshall not come upעַל־רֹאשׁוֹupon his headכִּי־נְזִירbecause a Nazarite ofאֱלֹהִיםGodיִהְיֶהshall beהַנַּעַרthe childמִן־הַבָּטֶןfrom the wombוְהוּאand heיָחֵלshall beginלְהוֹשִׁיעַto saveאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelמִיַּדfrom the hand ofפְּלִשְׁתִּים׃Philistines

    For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines.

    וַתָּבֹאand cameהָאִשָּׁהthe womanוַתֹּאמֶרand saidלְאִישָׁהּto her husbandלֵאמֹרsayingאִישׁa man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבָּאcameאֵלַיto meוּמַרְאֵהוּand his appearanceכְּמַרְאֵהas the appearance ofמַלְאַךְangel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodנוֹרָאterribleמְאֹדexceedinglyוְלֹאand notשְׁאִלְתִּיהוּI asked himאֵי־מִזֶּהwhenceהוּאheוְאֶת־שְׁמוֹand his nameלֹא־הִגִּידnot declaredלִי׃to me

    Then the woman came and told her husband, saying, A man of God came unto me, and his countenance was like the countenance of an angel of God, very terrible: but I asked him not whence he was, neither told he me his name:

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלִיto meהִנָּךְbehold youהָרָהshall conceiveוְיֹלַדְתְּand you will bearבֵּןa sonוְעַתָּהand nowאַל־תִּשְׁתִּיdo not drinkיַיִןwineוְשֵׁכָרand strong drinkוְאַל־תֹּאכְלִיand do not eatכׇּל־טֻמְאָהall uncleannessכִּי־נְזִירbecause a Nazarite ofאֱלֹהִיםGodיִהְיֶהshall beהַנַּעַרthe childמִן־הַבֶּטֶןfrom the wombעַד־יוֹםuntil the day ofמוֹתוֹ׃his death

    But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death.

    וַיֶּעְתַּרand he prayedמָנוֹחַManoahאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDוַיֹּאמַרand saidבִּיI prayאֲדוֹנָיO Lordאִישׁa man ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodאֲשֶׁרwhichשָׁלַחְתָּyou sentיָבוֹא־נָאshall come I prayעוֹדany moreאֵלֵינוּunto usוְיוֹרֵנוּand he will teach usמַה־נַּעֲשֶׂהwhat shall we doלַנַּעַרfor the ladהַיּוּלָּד׃the one who is about to be born

    Then Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.

    וַיִּשְׁמַעand heardהָאֱלֹהִיםGodבְּקוֹלthe voice ofמָנוֹחַManoahוַיָּבֹאand cameמַלְאַךְangel ofהָאֱלֹהִיםGodעוֹדany moreאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהto the womanוְהִיאand sheיוֹשֶׁבֶתsittingבַּשָּׂדֶהin the fieldוּמָנוֹחַand Manoahאִישָׁהּher husbandאֵיןthere is noעִמָּהּ׃with her

    And God hearkened to the voice of Manoah; and the angel of God came again unto the woman as she sat in the field: but Manoah her husband was not with her.

    וַתְּמַהֵרand she hurriedהָאִשָּׁהthe womanוַתָּרׇץand she ranוַתַּגֵּדand declaredלְאִישָׁהּto her husbandוַתֹּאמֶרand saidאֵלָיוto himהִנֵּהbeholdנִרְאָהappearedאֵלַיto meהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁר־בָּאwhich cameבַיּוֹםby the dayאֵלָי׃unto me

    And the woman made haste, and ran, and shewed her husband, and said unto him, Behold, the man hath appeared unto me, that came unto me the other day.

    וַיָּקׇםand aroseוַיֵּלֶךְand wentמָנוֹחַManoahאַחֲרֵיafterאִשְׁתּוֹhis wifeוַיָּבֹאand cameאֶל־הָאִישׁto the manוַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himהַאַתָּהare youהָאִישׁthe manאֲשֶׁר־דִּבַּרְתָּwhich you have spokenאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהto the womanוַיֹּאמֶרand saidאָנִי׃I

    And Manoah arose, and went after his wife, and came to the man, and said unto him, Art thou the man that spakest unto the woman? And he said, I am.

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמָנוֹחַManoahעַתָּהnowיָבֹאlet come to passדְבָרֶיךָyour wordsמַה־יִּהְיֶהwhat he shall beמִשְׁפַּט־הַנַּעַרthe manner of the childוּמַעֲשֵׂהוּ׃and his work

    And Manoah said, Now let thy words come to pass. How shall we order the child, and how shall we do unto him?

  13. 13

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמַלְאַךְangel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מָנוֹחַto Manoahמִכֹּלof allאֲשֶׁר־אָמַרְתִּיwhich I saidאֶל־הָאִשָּׁהto the womanתִּשָּׁמֵר׃let her beware

    And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Of all that I said unto the woman let her beware.

  14. 14

    מִכֹּלof allאֲשֶׁר־יֵצֵאwhich he go forthמִגֶּפֶןfrom the vine ofהַיַּיִןthe wineלֹאnotתֹאכַלyou shall eatוְיַיִןand wineוְשֵׁכָרand strong drinkאַל־תֵּשְׁתְּdo not drinkוְכׇל־טֻמְאָהand all uncleannessאַל־תֹּאכַלdo not eatכֹּלallאֲשֶׁר־צִוִּיתִיהָwhich I commanded herתִּשְׁמֹר׃you keep

    She may not eat of any thing that cometh of the vine, neither let her drink wine or strong drink, nor eat any unclean thing: all that I commanded her let her observe.

  15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמָנוֹחַManoahאֶל־מַלְאַךְto angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDנַעְצְרָה־נָּאlet us detain nowאוֹתָךְyouוְנַעֲשֶׂהand doלְפָנֶיךָbefore youגְּדִיa kid ofעִזִּים׃goats

    And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, I pray thee, let us detain thee, until we shall have made ready a kid for thee.

  16. 16

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמַלְאַךְangel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֶל־מָנוֹחַto Manoahאִם־תַּעְצְרֵנִיif you will detain meלֹא־אֹכַלnot I will eatבְּלַחְמֶךָof your breadוְאִם־תַּעֲשֶׂהand if you makeעֹלָהa burnt offeringלַיהֹוָהto the LORDתַּעֲלֶנָּהyou will offer up itכִּיforלֹא־יָדַעnot he knewמָנוֹחַManoahכִּי־מַלְאַךְbecause angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהוּא׃he

    And the angel of the LORD said unto Manoah, Though thou detain me, I will not eat of thy bread: and if thou wilt offer a burnt offering, thou must offer it unto the LORD. For Manoah knew not that he was an angel of the LORD.

  17. 17

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמָנוֹחַManoahאֶל־מַלְאַךְto angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDמִיwhoשְׁמֶךָyour nameכִּי־יָבֹאwhen shall come(דבריך)[דְבָרְךָ]your wordוְכִבַּדְנוּךָ׃and we will honor you

    And Manoah said unto the angel of the LORD, What is thy name, that when thy sayings come to pass we may do thee honour?

  18. 18

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himמַלְאַךְangel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלָמָּהwhyזֶּהthisתִּשְׁאַלyou shall askלִשְׁמִיto my nameוְהוּא־פֶלִאי׃and it is secret

    And the angel of the LORD said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret?

  19. 19

    וַיִּקַּחand tookמָנוֹחַManoahאֶת־גְּדִיa kid ofהָעִזִּיםthe goatsוְאֶת־הַמִּנְחָהand the grain offeringוַיַּעַלand went upעַל־הַצּוּרupon the rockלַיהֹוָהto the LORDוּמַפְלִאand wondrouslyלַעֲשׂוֹתto doוּמָנוֹחַand Manoahוְאִשְׁתּוֹand his wifeרֹאִים׃looked on

    So Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a rock unto the LORD: and the angel did wondrously; and Manoah and his wife looked on.

  20. 20

    וַיְהִיand it came to passבַעֲלוֹתwhen went upהַלַּהַבthe flameמֵעַלfrom uponהַמִּזְבֵּחַthe altarהַשָּׁמַיְמָהunto the heavensוַיַּעַלand went upמַלְאַךְ־יְהֹוָהangel of the LORDבְּלַהַבin the flame ofהַמִּזְבֵּחַthe altarוּמָנוֹחַand Manoahוְאִשְׁתּוֹand his wifeרֹאִיםlooked onוַיִּפְּלוּand they fellעַל־פְּנֵיהֶםupon their facesאָרְצָה׃to the earth

    For it came to pass, when the flame went up toward heaven from off the altar, that the angel of the LORD ascended in the flame of the altar. And Manoah and his wife looked on it, and fell on their faces to the ground.

  21. 21

    וְלֹא־יָסַףand no more didעוֹדany moreמַלְאַךְangel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְהֵרָאֹהto appearאֶל־מָנוֹחַto Manoahוְאֶל־אִשְׁתּוֹand his wifeאָזthenיָדַעhe knewמָנוֹחַManoahכִּי־מַלְאַךְbecause angel ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהוּא׃he

    But the angel of the LORD did no more appear to Manoah and to his wife. Then Manoah knew that he was an angel of the LORD.

  22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidמָנוֹחַManoahאֶל־אִשְׁתּוֹto his wifeמוֹתsurelyנָמוּתwe dieכִּיbecauseאֱלֹהִיםGodרָאִינוּ׃we saw

    And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

  23. 23

    וַתֹּאמֶרand saidלוֹto himאִשְׁתּוֹhis wifeלוּifחָפֵץdesireיְהֹוָהthe LORDלַהֲמִיתֵנוּto kill usלֹא־לָקַחnot tookמִיָּדֵנוּfrom our handעֹלָהa burnt offeringוּמִנְחָהand a grain offeringוְלֹאand notהֶרְאָנוּhe has shown usאֶת־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהall theseוְכָעֵתand about this timeלֹאnotהִשְׁמִיעָנוּhe caused to hear usכָּזֹאת׃such

    But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.

  24. 24

    וַתֵּלֶדand boreהָאִשָּׁהthe womanבֵּןa sonוַתִּקְרָאand she calledאֶת־שְׁמוֹhis nameשִׁמְשׁוֹןSamsonוַיִּגְדַּלand grewהַנַּעַרthe childוַיְבָרְכֵהוּand blessed himיְהֹוָה׃the LORD

    And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the LORD blessed him.

  25. 25

    וַתָּחֶלand beganרוּחַthe Spirit ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDלְפַעֲמוֹto stir himבְּמַחֲנֵה־דָןin the camp of DanבֵּיןamongצׇרְעָהZorahוּבֵיןand betweenאֶשְׁתָּאֹל׃Eshtaol

    And the Spirit of the LORD began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol.
