Joshua 6 יְהוֹשֻׁעַ פרק ו׳

   וִירִיחוֹVi/ri/CHOand Jerichoסֹגֶרֶתso/GE/retwas shut upוּמְסֻגֶּרֶתu/me/sug/GE/retand barredמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֵיןennoneיוֹצֵאyo/TSEwent outוְאֵיןve/ENand noneבָּא׃bacame in

   Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

2. 2

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaרְאֵהre/Eseeנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI have givenבְיָדְךָve/ya/de/KHAinto your handאֶת־יְרִיחוֹet-Ye/ri/CHOJerichoוְאֶת־מַלְכָּהּve/ET-mal/KAand its kingגִּבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REand the mighty men ofהֶחָיִל׃he/CHA/yilvalor

   And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.

   וְסַבֹּתֶםve/sab/bo/TEMand you shall march aroundאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityכֹּלkolallאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarהַקֵּיףhak/KEFgoing aroundאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityפַּעַםPA/amtimeאֶחָתe/CHAToneכֹּהkothusתַעֲשֶׂהta/a/SEyou shall doשֵׁשֶׁתSHE/shetsixיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

   And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

   And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

   And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

   And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

   And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.

   And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

   וְהֶחָלוּץve/he/cha/LUTSand the armed manהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoingלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priests(תקעו)takv[תֹּקְעֵי]tok/Ewho blewהַשּׁוֹפָרוֹתhash/sho/fa/ROTthe trumpetsוְהַמְאַסֵּףve/ham/as/SEFand the rear guardהֹלֵךְho/LEKHgoingאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהָאָרוֹןha/a/RONthe arkהָלוֹךְha/LOKHgoing onוְתָקוֹעַve/ta/KO/aand blowingבַּשּׁוֹפָרוֹת׃bash/sho/fa/ROTthe trumpets

   And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rereward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

    וְאֶת־הָעָםve/ET-ha/AMand the peopleצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingלֹאlonotתָרִיעוּta/RI/uyou shall shoutוְלֹא־תַשְׁמִיעוּve/LO-tash/MI/unor make heardאֶת־קוֹלְכֶםet-kol/KHEMyour voiceוְלֹא־יֵצֵאve/LO-ye/TSEnor shall go outמִפִּיכֶםmip/pi/KHEMfrom your mouthדָּבָרda/VARa wordעַדaduntilיוֹםyomthe dayאׇמְרִיom/RII sayאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youהָרִיעוּha/RI/ushoutוַהֲרִיעֹתֶם׃va/ha/ri/o/TEMthen you shall shout

    And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

    וַיַּסֵּבvay/yas/SEVso he caused to go aroundאֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָהa/RON-Adonaithe ark of the LORDאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityהַקֵּףhak/KEFgoing aroundפַּעַםPA/amtimeאֶחָתe/CHAToneוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they came intoהַמַּחֲנֶהham/ma/cha/NEthe campוַיָּלִינוּvay/ya/LI/nuand they lodgedבַּמַּחֲנֶה׃bam/ma/cha/NEin the camp

    So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

12. 12

    וַיַּשְׁכֵּםvay/yash/KEMand rose earlyיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבַּבֹּקֶרbab/BO/kerin the morningוַיִּשְׂאוּvay/yis/Uand took upהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsאֶת־אֲרוֹןet-a/RONthe ark ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

    And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rereward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

14. 14

    וַיָּסֹבּוּvay/ya/SOB/buand they marched aroundאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשֵּׁנִיhash/she/NIthe secondפַּעַםPA/amtimeאַחַתa/CHAToneוַיָּשֻׁבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuand returnedהַמַּחֲנֶהham/ma/cha/NEto the campכֹּהkothusעָשׂוּa/SUthey didשֵׁשֶׁתSHE/shetsixיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

    And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

15. 15

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon the dayהַשְּׁבִיעִיhash/she/vi/Ithe seventhוַיַּשְׁכִּמוּvay/yash/KI/muand they rose earlyכַּעֲלוֹתka/a/LOTat the rising ofהַשַּׁחַרhash/SHA/charthe dawnוַיָּסֹבּוּvay/ya/SOB/buand marched aroundאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityכַּמִּשְׁפָּטkam/mish/PATaccording to the mannerהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesרַקrakonlyבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon dayהַהוּאha/HUthatסָבְבוּsa/ve/VUthey marched aroundאֶת־הָעִירet-ha/IRthe cityשֶׁבַעSHE/vasevenפְּעָמִים׃pe/a/MIMtimes

    And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבַּפַּעַםbap/PA/amat the timeהַשְּׁבִיעִיתhash/she/vi/ITthe seventhתָּקְעוּta/ke/Ublewהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsבַּשּׁוֹפָרוֹתbash/sho/fa/ROTthe trumpetsוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleהָרִיעוּha/RI/ushoutכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANfor has givenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־הָעִיר׃et-ha/IRthe city

    And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

17. 17

    וְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand shall beהָעִירha/IRthe cityחֵרֶםCHE/remdevotedהִיאhiitוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּהּve/KHOL-a/SHER-baand all that is in itלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDרַקrakonlyרָחָבRa/CHAVRahabהַזּוֹנָהhaz/zo/NAthe harlotתִּחְיֶהtich/YEshall liveהִיאhisheוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁרve/KHOL-a/SHERand all who areאִתָּהּit/TAwith herבַּבַּיִתbab/BA/yitin the houseכִּיkibecauseהֶחְבְּאַתָהhech/be/A/tashe hidאֶת־הַמַּלְאָכִיםet-ham/mal/a/KHIMthe messengersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomשָׁלָחְנוּ׃sha/LACH/nuwe sent

    And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

18. 18

    וְרַק־אַתֶּםve/RAK-at/TEMand you onlyשִׁמְרוּshim/RUkeep yourselvesמִן־הַחֵרֶםmin-ha/CHE/remfrom the devoted thingפֶּן־תַּחֲרִימוּpen-ta/cha/RI/mulest you devote itוּלְקַחְתֶּםu/le/kach/TEMand takeמִן־הַחֵרֶםmin-ha/CHE/remfrom the devoted thingוְשַׂמְתֶּםve/sam/TEMand makeאֶת־מַחֲנֵהet-ma/cha/NEthe camp ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלְחֵרֶםle/CHE/reminto a devoted thingוַעֲכַרְתֶּםva/a/khar/TEMand troubleאוֹתוֹ׃o/TOit

    And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

19. 19

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand allכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilverוְזָהָבve/za/HAVand goldוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand vessels ofנְחֹשֶׁתne/CHO/shetbronzeוּבַרְזֶלu/var/ZELand ironקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholyהוּאhuareלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאוֹצַרo/TSARthe treasury ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDיָבוֹא׃ya/VOshall come into

    But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

    וַיָּרַעvay/YA/raso shoutedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיִּתְקְעוּvay/yit/ke/Uand they blewבַּשֹּׁפָרוֹתbash/sho/fa/ROTthe trumpetsוַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכִשְׁמֹעַkhish/MO/awhen heardהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶת־קוֹלet-kolthe voice ofהַשּׁוֹפָרhash/sho/FARthe trumpetוַיָּרִיעוּvay/ya/RI/ushoutedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleתְּרוּעָהte/ru/Aa shoutגְדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַתִּפֹּלvat/tip/POLand fellהַחוֹמָהha/cho/MAthe wallתַּחְתֶּיהָtach/TE/haflatוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland went upהָעָםha/AMthe peopleהָעִירָהha/I/rainto the cityאִישׁishevery manנֶגְדּוֹneg/DOstraight aheadוַיִּלְכְּדוּvay/yil/ke/DUand they tookאֶת־הָעִיר׃et-ha/IRthe city

    So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

21. 21

    וַיַּחֲרִימוּvay/ya/cha/RI/muand they utterly destroyedאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatבָּעִירba/IRwas in the cityמֵאִישׁme/ISHboth manוְעַד־אִשָּׁהve/AD-ish/SHAand womanמִנַּעַרmin/NA/aryoungוְעַד־זָקֵןve/AD-za/KENand oldוְעַדve/ADandשׁוֹרshoran oxוָשֶׂהva/SEand a sheepוַחֲמוֹרva/cha/MORand donkeyלְפִי־חָרֶב׃le/FI-CHA/revwith the edge of the sword

    And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

    וְלִשְׁנַיִםve/lish/NA/yimbut to the twoהָאֲנָשִׁיםha/a/na/SHIMthe menהַמְרַגְּלִיםham/rag/ge/LIMwho had spied outאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאָמַרa/MARsaidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבֹּאוּBO/ugo intoבֵּית־הָאִשָּׁהbet-ha/ish/SHAthe house of the womanהַזּוֹנָהhaz/zo/NAthe harlotוְהוֹצִיאוּve/ho/TSI/uand bring outמִשָּׁםmish/SHAMfrom thereאֶת־הָאִשָּׁהet-ha/ish/SHAthe womanוְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּve/ET-kol-a/SHER-laand all that she hasכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasנִשְׁבַּעְתֶּםnish/ba/TEMyou sworeלָהּ׃lato her

    But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

    וַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand went inהַנְּעָרִיםhan/ne/a/RIMthe young menהַמְרַגְּלִיםham/rag/ge/LIMwho were spiesוַיֹּצִיאוּvay/yo/TSI/uand they brought outאֶת־רָחָבet-Ra/CHAVRahabוְאֶת־אָבִיהָve/ET-a/VI/haand her fatherוְאֶת־אִמָּהּve/ET-im/MAand her motherוְאֶת־אַחֶיהָve/ET-a/CHE/haand her brothersוְאֶת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁר־לָהּve/ET-kol-a/SHER-laand all that she hadוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־מִשְׁפְּחוֹתֶיהָkol-mish/pe/cho/TE/haall her kindredהוֹצִיאוּho/TSI/uthey brought outוַיַּנִּיחוּםvay/yan/ni/CHUMand set themמִחוּץmi/CHUTSoutsideלְמַחֲנֵהle/ma/cha/NEthe camp ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

    וְהָעִירve/ha/IRand the cityשָׂרְפוּsa/re/FUthey burnedבָאֵשׁva/ESHwith fireוְכׇל־אֲשֶׁר־בָּהּve/KHOL-a/SHER-baand all that was in itרַקrakonlyהַכֶּסֶףhak/KE/sefthe silverוְהַזָּהָבve/haz/za/HAVand the goldוּכְלֵיu/khe/LEand the vessels ofהַנְּחֹשֶׁתhan/ne/CHO/shetbronzeוְהַבַּרְזֶלve/hab/bar/ZELand the ironנָתְנוּna/te/NUthey putאוֹצַרo/TSARinto the treasury ofבֵּית־יְהֹוָה׃bet-Adonaithe house of the LORD

    And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

    And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIso wasיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/awith Joshuaוַיְהִיvay/HIand wasשׇׁמְעוֹshom/Ohis fameבְּכׇל־הָאָרֶץ׃be/KHOL-ha/A/retsthroughout all the land

    So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.
