   And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the LORD had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.

   At that time the LORD said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.

   וַיַּעַשׂ־לוֹvay/YA/as-loand made himselfיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaחַרְבוֹתchar/VOTknives ofצֻרִיםtsu/RIMflintוַיָּמׇלvay/YA/moland circumcisedאֶת־בְּנֵיet-be/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶל־גִּבְעַתel-giv/ATat the hill ofהָעֲרָלוֹת׃ha/a/ra/LOTthe foreskins

   And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.

4. 4

   וְזֶהve/ZEand this isהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe reasonאֲשֶׁר־מָלa/SHER-malwhy circumcisedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleהַיֹּצֵאhay/yo/TSEwho came outמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptהַזְּכָרִיםhaz/ze/kha/RIMthe malesכֹּלkolallאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarמֵתוּME/tuhad diedבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhon the wayבְּצֵאתָםbe/tse/TAMwhen they came outמִמִּצְרָיִם׃mim/Mits/RA/yimfrom Egypt

   And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.

   כִּי־מֻלִיםki-mu/LIMfor circumcisedהָיוּha/YUhad beenכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleהַיֹּצְאִיםhay/yots/IMwho came outוְכׇל־הָעָםve/KHOL-ha/AMand all the peopleהַיִּלֹּדִיםhay/yil/lo/DIMwho were bornבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessבַּדֶּרֶךְbad/DE/rekhon the wayבְּצֵאתָםbe/tse/TAMwhen they came outמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptלֹא־מָלוּ׃lo-MA/luthey had not circumcised

   Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised.

   כִּיkiforאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyשָׁנָהsha/NAyearsהָלְכוּha/le/KHUwalkedבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessעַד־תֹּםad-tomuntil were consumedכׇּל־הַגּוֹיkol-hag/GOYall the nationאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarהַיֹּצְאִיםhay/yots/IMwho came outמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptאֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseלֹא־שָׁמְעוּlo-sha/me/Uthey did not hearkenבְּקוֹלbe/KOLto the voice ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERto whomנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat He would notהַרְאוֹתָםhar/o/TAMshow themאֶת־הָאָרֶץet-ha/A/retsthe landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלַאֲבוֹתָםla/a/vo/TAMto their fathersלָתֶתLA/tetto giveלָנוּLA/nuto usאֶרֶץE/retsa landזָבַתza/VATflowing withחָלָבcha/LAVmilkוּדְבָשׁ׃u/de/VASHand honey

   For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD sware that he would not shew them the land, which the LORD sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.

7. 7

   וְאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶםve/ET-be/ne/HEMand their childrenהֵקִיםhe/KIMHe raised upתַּחְתָּםtach/TAMin their placeאֹתָםo/TAMthemמָלmalcircumcisedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכִּי־עֲרֵלִיםki-a/re/LIMfor uncircumcisedהָיוּha/YUwereכִּיkiforלֹא־מָלוּlo-MA/luthey had not circumcisedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemבַּדָּרֶךְ׃bad/DA/rekhon the way

   And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.

8. 8

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁר־תַּמּוּka/a/SHER-TAM/muwhen had finishedכׇל־הַגּוֹיkhol-hag/GOYall the nationלְהִמּוֹלle/him/MOLbeing circumcisedוַיֵּשְׁבוּvay/yesh/VUthat they stayedתַחְתָּםtach/TAMin their placesבַּמַּחֲנֶהbam/ma/cha/NEin the campעַדaduntilחֲיוֹתָם׃cha/yo/TAMthey were healed

   And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayגַּלּוֹתִיgal/LO/tiI have rolled awayאֶת־חֶרְפַּתet-cher/PATthe reproach ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptמֵעֲלֵיכֶםme/a/le/KHEMfrom off youוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAtherefore is calledשֵׁםshemthe name ofהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeהַהוּאha/HUthatגִּלְגָּלGil/GALGilgalעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And the LORD said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.

10. 10

    וַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelבַּגִּלְגָּלbag/Gil/GALin Gilgalוַיַּעֲשׂוּvay/ya/a/SUand they keptאֶת־הַפֶּסַחet-hap/PE/sachthe passoverבְּאַרְבָּעָה־עָשָׂרbe/ar/ba/A-a/SARon the fourteenthיוֹםyomdayלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthבָּעֶרֶבba/E/revat eveningבְּעַרְבוֹתbe/ar/VOTin the plains ofיְרִיחוֹ׃Ye/ri/CHOJericho

    And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateמֵעֲבוּרme/a/VURof the produce ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמִמׇּחֳרַתmim/mo/cho/RATon the morrow afterהַפֶּסַחhap/PE/sachthe passoverמַצּוֹתmats/TSOTunleavened breadוְקָלוּיve/ka/LUYand parched grainבְּעֶצֶםbe/E/tsemon the selfsameהַיּוֹםhay/YOMdayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.

12. 12

    וַיִּשְׁבֹּתvay/yish/BOTand ceasedהַמָּןham/MANthe mannaמִמׇּחֳרָתmim/mo/cho/RATon the next dayבְּאׇכְלָםbe/okh/LAMafter they had eatenמֵעֲבוּרme/a/VURof the produce ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוְלֹא־הָיָהve/LO-HA/yaand had noעוֹדodany moreלִבְנֵיliv/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelמָןmanmannaוַיֹּאכְלוּvay/yo/khe/LUand they ateמִתְּבוּאַתmit/te/vu/ATof the produce ofאֶרֶץE/retsthe land ofכְּנַעַןKe/NA/anCanaanבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin the yearהַהִיא׃ha/HIthat

    And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passבִּהְיוֹתbih/YOTwhen wasיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבִּירִיחוֹbI/ri/CHOby Jerichoוַיִּשָּׂאvay/yis/SAthat he lifted upעֵינָיוe/NAYVhis eyesוַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawוְהִנֵּה־אִישׁve/hin/NE-ishand behold a manעֹמֵדo/MEDstoodלְנֶגְדּוֹle/neg/DOopposite himוְחַרְבּוֹve/char/BOand his swordשְׁלוּפָהshe/lu/FAdrawnבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOin his handוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himהֲלָנוּha/LA/nuare for usאַתָּהat/TAyouאִם־לְצָרֵינוּ׃im-le/tsa/RE/nuor for our adversaries

    And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?

14. 14

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלֹאlonoכִּיkibutאֲנִיa/NII amשַׂר־צְבָא־יְהֹוָהsar-tse/VA-Adonaithe captain of the host of the LORDעַתָּהat/TAnowבָאתִיVA/tiI have comeוַיִּפֹּלvay/yip/POLand fellיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶל־פָּנָיוel-pa/NAYVon his faceאַרְצָהAR/tsato the earthוַיִּשְׁתָּחוּvay/yish/TA/chuand worshipedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלוֹloto himמָהmawhat doesאֲדֹנִיa/do/NImy lordמְדַבֵּרme/dab/BERsayאֶל־עַבְדּוֹ׃el-av/DOto his servant

    And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidשַׂר־צְבָאsar-tse/VAthe captain of the host ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaשַׁל־נַעַלְךָshal-na/al/KHAloose your sandalמֵעַלme/ALfromרַגְלֶךָrag/LE/khayour footכִּיkiforהַמָּקוֹםham/ma/KOMthe placeאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאַתָּהat/TAyouעֹמֵדo/MEDstandעָלָיוa/LAYVonקֹדֶשׁKO/deshholyהוּאhuisוַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכֵּן׃kenso

    And the captain of the LORD's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
