   And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over Jordan, that the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,

   קְחוּke/CHUtakeלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesמִן־הָעָםmin-ha/AMfrom the peopleשְׁנֵים־עָשָׂרshe/NEM-a/SARtwelveאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenאִישׁ־אֶחָדish-e/CHADone manאִישׁ־אֶחָדish-e/CHADone manמִשָּׁבֶט׃mish/SHA/vetfrom each tribe

   Take you twelve men out of the people, out of every tribe a man,

   And command ye them, saying, Take you hence out of the midst of Jordan, out of the place where the priests' feet stood firm, twelve stones, and ye shall carry them over with you, and leave them in the lodging place, where ye shall lodge this night.

   Then Joshua called the twelve men, whom he had prepared of the children of Israel, out of every tribe a man:

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלָהֶםla/HEMto themיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaעִבְרוּiv/RUpass overלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוְהָרִימוּve/ha/RI/muand take upלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesאִישׁisheach manאֶבֶןE/vena stoneאַחַתa/CHAToneעַל־שִׁכְמוֹal-shikh/MOupon his shoulderלְמִסְפַּרle/mis/PARto the number ofשִׁבְטֵיshiv/TEthe tribes ofבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israel

   And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the LORD your God into the midst of Jordan, and take ye up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:

   לְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתִּהְיֶהtih/YEmay beזֹאתzotthisאוֹתota signבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youכִּי־יִשְׁאָלוּןki-yish/a/LUNwhen askבְּנֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMyour childrenמָחָרma/CHARin time to comeלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhat meanהָאֲבָנִיםha/a/va/NIMthe stonesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

   That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?

   וַאֲמַרְתֶּםva/a/mar/TEMthen you shall sayלָהֶםla/HEMto themאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatנִכְרְתוּnikh/re/TUwere cut offמֵימֵיme/MEthe waters ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbeforeאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofבְּרִית־יְהֹוָהbe/RIT-Adonaithe covenant of the LORDבְּעׇבְרוֹbe/ov/ROwhen it passed overבַּיַּרְדֵּןbay/Yar/DENin the Jordanנִכְרְתוּnikh/re/TUwere cut offמֵיmethe waters ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanוְהָיוּve/ha/YUand shall beהָאֲבָנִיםha/a/va/NIMthe stonesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseלְזִכָּרוֹןle/zik/ka/RONfor a memorialלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעַד־עוֹלָם׃ad-o/LAMforever

   Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.

   And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the LORD spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there.

   וּשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהush/TEM-es/REand twelveאֲבָנִיםa/va/NIMstonesהֵקִיםhe/KIMset upיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe JordanתַּחַתTA/chatin the place ofמַצַּבmats/TSAVwhere stoodרַגְלֵיrag/LEthe feet ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ewho carriedאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofהַבְּרִיתhab/be/RITthe covenantוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand they areשָׁםshamthereעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   And Joshua set up twelve stones in the midst of Jordan, in the place where the feet of the priests which bare the ark of the covenant stood: and they are there unto this day.

    וְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ewho carriedהָאָרוֹןha/a/RONthe arkעֹמְדִיםom/DIMstandingבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHin the midst ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanעַדaduntilתֹּםtomwas finishedכׇּל־הַדָּבָרkol-had/da/VAReverythingאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat commandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaלְדַבֵּרle/dab/BERto speakאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat commandedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוַיְמַהֲרוּvay/ma/ha/RUand hastenedהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיַּעֲבֹרוּ׃vay/ya/a/VO/ruand they passed over

    For the priests which bare the ark stood in the midst of Jordan, until every thing was finished that the LORD commanded Joshua to speak unto the people, according to all that Moses commanded Joshua: and the people hasted and passed over.

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passכַּאֲשֶׁר־תַּםka/a/SHER-tamwhen had finishedכׇּל־הָעָםkol-ha/AMall the peopleלַעֲבוֹרla/a/VORcrossingוַיַּעֲבֹרvay/ya/a/VORthat passed overאֲרוֹן־יְהֹוָהa/RON-Adonaithe ark of the LORDוְהַכֹּהֲנִיםve/hak/ko/ha/NIMand the priestsלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeהָעָם׃ha/AMthe people

    And it came to pass, when all the people were clean passed over, that the ark of the LORD passed over, and the priests, in the presence of the people.

12. 12

    וַיַּעַבְרוּvay/ya/av/RUand passed overבְּנֵי־רְאוּבֵןbe/NE-re/u/VENthe children of Reubenוּבְנֵי־גָדu/ve/NE-gadand the children of Gadוַחֲצִיva/cha/TSIand halfשֵׁבֶטSHE/vetthe tribe ofהַמְנַשֶּׁהHam/nash/SHEManassehחֲמֻשִׁיםcha/mu/SHIMarmedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERhad spokenאֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMto themמֹשֶׁה׃Mo/SHEMoses

    And the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh, passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses spake unto them:

13. 13

    כְּאַרְבָּעִיםke/ar/ba/IMabout fortyאֶלֶףE/lefthousandחֲלוּצֵיcha/lu/TSEarmed men ofהַצָּבָאhats/tsa/VAthe hostעָבְרוּa/ve/RUpassedלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלַמִּלְחָמָהlam/mil/cha/MAto battleאֶלeltoעַרְבוֹתar/VOTthe plains ofיְרִיחוֹ׃Ye/ri/CHOJericho

    About forty thousand prepared for war passed over before the LORD unto battle, to the plains of Jericho.

14. 14

    בַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon dayהַהוּאha/HUthatגִּדַּלgid/DALmagnifiedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבְּעֵינֵיbe/e/NEin the eyes ofכׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵלkol-Yis/ra/ELall Israelוַיִּרְאוּvay/yir/Uand they fearedאֹתוֹo/TOhimכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasיָרְאוּya/re/Uthey had fearedאֶת־מֹשֶׁהet-Mo/SHEMosesכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofחַיָּיו׃chay/YAYVhis life

    On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

15. 15

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

    And the LORD spake unto Joshua, saying,

16. 16

    צַוֵּהtsav/VEcommandאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ewho carryאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofהָעֵדוּתha/e/DUTthe testimonyוְיַעֲלוּve/ya/a/LUthat they come upמִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן׃min-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordan

    Command the priests that bear the ark of the testimony, that they come up out of Jordan.

17. 17

    וַיְצַוvay/TSAVand commandedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־הַכֹּהֲנִיםet-hak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingעֲלוּa/LUcome upמִן־הַיַּרְדֵּן׃min-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordan

    Joshua therefore commanded the priests, saying, Come ye up out of Jordan.

18. 18

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to pass(בעלות)vlavat[כַּעֲלוֹת]ka/a/LOTwhen came upהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsנֹשְׂאֵיnos/Ewho carriedאֲרוֹןa/RONthe ark ofבְּרִית־יְהֹוָהbe/RIT-Adonaithe covenant of the LORDמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanנִתְּקוּnit/te/KUwere lifted upכַּפּוֹתkap/POTthe soles ofרַגְלֵיrag/LEthe feet ofהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsאֶלelontoהֶחָרָבָהhe/cha/ra/VAthe dry groundוַיָּשֻׁבוּvay/ya/SHU/vuthat returnedמֵי־הַיַּרְדֵּןmE-hay/yar/DENthe waters of the Jordanלִמְקוֹמָםlim/ko/MAMto their placeוַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUand flowedכִתְמוֹל־שִׁלְשׁוֹםkhit/MOL-shil/SHOMas beforeעַל־כׇּל־גְּדוֹתָיו׃al-kol-ge/do/TAYVover all its banks

    And it came to pass, when the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD were come up out of the midst of Jordan, and the soles of the priests' feet were lifted up unto the dry land, that the waters of Jordan returned unto their place, and flowed over all his banks, as they did before.

    וְהָעָםve/ha/AMand the peopleעָלוּa/LUcame upמִן־הַיַּרְדֵּןmin-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordanבֶּעָשׂוֹרbe/a/SORon the tenthלַחֹדֶשׁla/CHO/deshof the monthהָרִאשׁוֹןha/ri/SHONthe firstוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedבַּגִּלְגָּלbag/Gil/GALin Gilgalבִּקְצֵהbik/TSEon the edge ofמִזְרַחmiz/RACHeast ofיְרִיחוֹ׃Ye/ri/CHOJericho

    And the people came up out of Jordan on the tenth day of the first month, and encamped in Gilgal, in the east border of Jericho.

    וְאֵתve/ETandשְׁתֵּים־עֶשְׂרֵהshtem-es/REtwelveהָאֲבָנִיםha/a/va/NIMthe stonesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUthey tookמִן־הַיַּרְדֵּןmin-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordanהֵקִיםhe/KIMset upיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבַּגִּלְגָּל׃bag/Gil/GALin Gilgal

    And those twelve stones, which they took out of Jordan, did Joshua pitch in Gilgal.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEto the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhenיִשְׁאָלוּןyish/a/LUNshall askבְּנֵיכֶםbe/ne/KHEMyour childrenמָחָרma/CHARin time to comeאֶת־אֲבוֹתָםet-a/vo/TAMtheir fathersלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingמָהmawhat meanהָאֲבָנִיםha/a/va/NIMthe stonesהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And he spake unto the children of Israel, saying, When your children shall ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean these stones?

22. 22

    וְהוֹדַעְתֶּםve/ho/da/TEMthen you shall let knowאֶת־בְּנֵיכֶםet-be/ne/KHEMyour childrenלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingבַּיַּבָּשָׁהbay/yab/ba/SHAon the dry groundעָבַרa/VARcame overיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּןet-Hay/yar/DENthe Jordanהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

    Then ye shall let your children know, saying, Israel came over this Jordan on dry land.

23. 23

    אֲשֶׁר־הוֹבִישׁa/SHER-ho/VISHfor dried upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֶת־מֵיet-methe waters ofהַיַּרְדֵּןhay/Yar/DENthe Jordanמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMfrom before youעַד־עׇבְרְכֶםad-ov/re/KHEMuntil you had passed overכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעָשָׂהa/SAdidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godלְיַם־סוּףle/YAM-sufto the Red Seaאֲשֶׁר־הוֹבִישׁa/SHER-ho/VISHthat He dried upמִפָּנֵינוּmip/pa/NE/nufrom before usעַד־עׇבְרֵנוּ׃ad-ov/re/NUuntil we had passed over

    For the LORD your God dried up the waters of Jordan from before you, until ye were passed over, as the LORD your God did to the Red sea, which he dried up from before us, until we were gone over:

    לְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatדַּעַתDA/atmay knowכׇּל־עַמֵּיkol-am/MEall the peoples ofהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthאֶת־יַדet-yadthe hand ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDכִּיkithatחֲזָקָהcha/za/KAmightyהִיאhiisלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיְרָאתֶםye/ra/TEMyou may fearאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godכׇּל־הַיָּמִים׃kol-hay/ya/MIMall the days

    That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the LORD, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the LORD your God for ever.
