   And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.

   And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.

   And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.

   And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.

   I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.

   And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.

   And when they cried unto the LORD, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.

   And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komthen aroseבָּלָקBa/LAKBalakבֶּן־צִפּוֹרben-Tsip/PORthe son of ZipporמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofמוֹאָבMo/AVMoabוַיִּלָּחֶםvay/yil/LA/chemand fought againstבְּיִשְׂרָאֵלBe/yis/ra/ELIsraelוַיִּשְׁלַחvay/yish/LACHand sentוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledלְבִלְעָםLe/vil/AMBalaamבֶּן־בְּעוֹרben-Be/ORthe son of Beorלְקַלֵּלle/kal/LELto curseאֶתְכֶם׃et/KHEMyou

   Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:

10. 10

    וְלֹאve/LOand notאָבִיתִיa/VI/tiI wouldלִשְׁמֹעַlish/MO/alistenלְבִלְעָםle/Vil/AMto Balaamוַיְבָרֶךְvay/VA/rekhtherefore he blessedבָּרוֹךְba/ROKHblessאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוָאַצִּלva/ats/TSILand I deliveredאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouמִיָּדוֹ׃miy/ya/DOout of his hand

    But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.

    וַתַּעַבְרוּvat/ta/av/RUand you crossed overאֶת־הַיַּרְדֵּןet-Hay/yar/DENthe Jordanוַתָּבֹאוּvat/ta/VO/uand you cameאֶל־יְרִיחוֹel-Ye/ri/CHOto Jerichoוַיִּלָּחֲמוּvay/yil/la/cha/MUand foughtבָכֶםva/KHEMagainst youבַּעֲלֵי־יְרִיחוֹba/A/LE-ye/ri/CHOthe men of Jerichoהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIthe Amoritesוְהַפְּרִזִּיve/hap/Pe/riz/ZIand the Perizziteוְהַכְּנַעֲנִיve/hak/Ke/na/a/NIand the Canaaniteוְהַחִתִּיve/ha/Chit/TIand the Hittiteוְהַגִּרְגָּשִׁיve/hag/Gir/ga/SHIand the Girgashiteהַחִוִּיha/Chiv/VIthe HiviteוְהַיְבוּסִיVe/hay/vu/SIand the Jebusiteוָאֶתֵּןva/et/TENand I deliveredאוֹתָםo/TAMthemבְּיֶדְכֶם׃be/yed/KHEMinto your hands

    And ye went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.

    וָאֶשְׁלַחva/esh/LACHand I sentלִפְנֵיכֶםlif/ne/KHEMbefore youאֶת־הַצִּרְעָהet-hats/tsir/Athe hornetוַתְּגָרֶשׁvat/te/GA/reshwhich drove outאוֹתָםo/TAMthemמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMfrom before youשְׁנֵיshe/NEtwoמַלְכֵיmal/KHEkings ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIof the Amoritesלֹאlonotבְחַרְבְּךָve/char/be/KHAwith your swordוְלֹאve/LOnorבְקַשְׁתֶּךָ׃ve/kash/TE/khawith your bow

    And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

    וָאֶתֵּןva/et/TENand I gaveלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶרֶץE/retsa landאֲשֶׁרa/SHERfor whichלֹא־יָגַעְתָּlo-ya/GA/tayou did not laborבָּהּbaon itוְעָרִיםve/a/RIMand citiesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־בְנִיתֶםlo-ve/ni/TEMyou did not buildוַתֵּשְׁבוּvat/tesh/VUand you dwellבָּהֶםba/HEMin themכְּרָמִיםke/ra/MIMof vineyardsוְזֵיתִיםve/ze/TIMand olive treesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹא־נְטַעְתֶּםlo-ne/ta/TEMyou did not plantאַתֶּםat/TEMyouאֹכְלִים׃okh/LIMeat

    And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowיְראוּyer/Ufearאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוְעִבְדוּve/iv/DUand serveאֹתוֹo/TOHimבְּתָמִיםbe/ta/MIMin integrityוּבֶאֱמֶתu/ve/e/METand in truthוְהָסִירוּve/ha/SI/ruand put awayאֶת־אֱלֹהִיםet-e/lo/HIMthe godsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָבְדוּa/ve/DUservedאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםa/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersבְּעֵבֶרbe/E/verbeyondהַנָּהָרhan/Na/HARthe Riverוּבְמִצְרַיִםu/ve/Mits/RA/yimand in Egyptוְעִבְדוּve/iv/DUand serveאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

    Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.

15. 15

    וְאִםve/IMand ifרַעrait seems evilבְּעֵינֵיכֶםbe/e/ne/KHEMin your eyesלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDבַּחֲרוּba/cha/RUchooseלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayאֶת־מִיet-miwhomתַעֲבֹדוּןta/a/vo/DUNyou will serveאִםimwhetherאֶת־אֱלֹהִיםet-e/lo/HIMthe godsאֲשֶׁר־עָבְדוּa/SHER-a/ve/DUwhich servedאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםa/vo/te/KHEMyour fathersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat were(בעבר)vvar[מֵעֵבֶר]me/E/verbeyondהַנָּהָרhan/Na/HARthe Riverוְאִםve/IMorאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיet-e/lo/HEthe gods ofהָאֱמֹרִיha/E/mo/RIof the Amoritesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whoseאַתֶּםat/TEMyouיֹשְׁבִיםyosh/VIMdwellבְּאַרְצָםbe/ar/TSAMlandוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIbut Iוּבֵיתִיu/ve/TIand my houseנַעֲבֹדna/a/VODwe will serveאֶת־יְהֹוָה׃et-Adonaithe LORD

    And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

16. 16

    וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredהָעָםha/AMthe peopleוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidחָלִילָהcha/LI/lafar be itלָּנוּLA/nufrom usמֵעֲזֹבme/a/ZOVthat we should forsakeאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִים׃e/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother gods

    And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the LORD, to serve other gods;

17. 17

    כִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godהוּאhuit is Heהַמַּעֲלֶהham/ma/a/LEwho brought upאֹתָנוּo/TA/nuusוְאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵינוּve/ET-a/vo/TE/nuand our fathersמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםMits/RA/yimEgyptמִבֵּיתmib/BETfrom the house ofעֲבָדִיםa/va/DIMbondageוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoעָשָׂהa/SAhe didלְעֵינֵינוּle/e/NE/nuin our sightאֶת־הָאֹתוֹתet-ha/o/TOTthe signsהַגְּדֹלוֹתhag/ge/do/LOTgreatהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיִּשְׁמְרֵנוּvay/yish/me/RE/nuand preserved usבְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְbe/KHOL-had/DE/rekhin all the wayאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהָלַכְנוּha/LAKH/nuwe wentבָהּvainוּבְכֹלu/ve/KHOLand among allהָעַמִּיםha/am/MIMthe peoplesאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthrough whomעָבַרְנוּa/VAR/nuwe passedבְּקִרְבָּם׃be/kir/BAMamong them

    For the LORD our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:

18. 18

    וַיְגָרֶשׁvay/GA/reshand drove outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־כׇּל־הָעַמִּיםet-kol-ha/am/MIMall the peoplesוְאֶת־הָאֱמֹרִיve/ET-ha/e/mo/RIeven the Amoritesיֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVwho dwelt inהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landמִפָּנֵינוּmip/pa/NE/nufrom before usגַּם־אֲנַחְנוּgam-a/NACH/nuwe alsoנַעֲבֹדna/a/VODwill serveאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDכִּי־הוּאki-hufor He isאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃e/lo/HE/nuour God

    And the LORD drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the LORD; for he is our God.

19. 19

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleלֹאlonotתוּכְלוּtukh/LUyou canלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDכִּי־אֱלֹהִיםki-e/lo/HIMfor Godקְדֹשִׁיםke/do/SHIMholyהוּאhuHe isאֵל־קַנּוֹאel-kan/NOa jealous GodהוּאhuHe isלֹא־יִשָּׂאlo-yis/SAHe will not forgiveלְפִשְׁעֲכֶםle/fish/a/KHEMyour transgressionsוּלְחַטֹּאותֵיכֶם׃u/le/chat/to/te/KHEMand your sins

    And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the LORD: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.

20. 20

    כִּיkiifתַעַזְבוּta/az/VUyou forsakeאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוַעֲבַדְתֶּםva/a/vad/TEMand serveאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEgodsנֵכָרne/KHARforeignוְשָׁבve/SHAVthen He will turnוְהֵרַעve/he/RAand do evilלָכֶםla/KHEMto youוְכִלָּהve/khil/LAand consumeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁר־הֵיטִיבa/SHER-he/TIVthat He has done goodלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

21. 21

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaלֹאlonoכִּיkibutאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDנַעֲבֹד׃na/a/VODwe will serve

    And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the LORD.

22. 22

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶל־הָעָםel-ha/AMto the peopleעֵדִיםe/DIMwitnessesאַתֶּםat/TEMyou areבָּכֶםba/KHEMagainst yourselvesכִּי־אַתֶּםki-at/TEMthat youבְּחַרְתֶּםbe/char/TEMhave chosenלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDלַעֲבֹדla/a/VODto serveאוֹתוֹo/TOHimוַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand they saidעֵדִים׃e/DIMwitnesses

    And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the LORD, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.

23. 23

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowהָסִירוּha/SI/ruput awayאֶת־אֱלֹהֵיet-e/lo/HEthe godsהַנֵּכָרhan/ne/KHARforeignאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich areבְּקִרְבְּכֶםbe/kir/be/KHEMamong youוְהַטּוּve/hat/TUand inclineאֶת־לְבַבְכֶםet-le/vav/KHEMyour heartsאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

    Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the LORD God of Israel.

24. 24

    וַיֹּאמְרוּvay/yo/me/RUand saidהָעָםha/AMthe peopleאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּe/lo/HE/nuour Godנַעֲבֹדna/a/VODwe will serveוּבְקוֹלוֹu/ve/ko/LOand His voiceנִשְׁמָע׃nish/MAwe will obey

    And the people said unto Joshua, The LORD our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

25. 25

    וַיִּכְרֹתvay/yikh/ROTand madeיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבְּרִיתbe/RITa covenantלָעָםla/AMwith the peopleבַּיּוֹםbay/YOMon dayהַהוּאha/HUthatוַיָּשֶׂםvay/YA/semand setלוֹlofor themחֹקchoka statuteוּמִשְׁפָּטu/mish/PATand a judgmentבִּשְׁכֶם׃Bish/KHEMat Shechem

    So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

    וַיִּכְתֹּבvay/yikh/TOVand wroteיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־הַדְּבָרִיםet-had/de/va/RIMthe wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofאֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodוַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookאֶבֶןE/vena stoneגְּדוֹלָהge/do/LAgreatוַיְקִימֶהָvay/ki/ME/haand set it upשָּׁםshamthereתַּחַתTA/chatunderהָאַלָּהha/al/LAthe oakאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat wasבְּמִקְדַּשׁbe/mik/DASHby the sanctuary ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD.

27. 27

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶל־כׇּל־הָעָםel-kol-ha/AMto all the peopleהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהָאֶבֶןha/E/venthe stoneהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisתִּהְיֶה־בָּנוּtih/YE-BA/nushall be against usלְעֵדָהle/e/DAa witnessכִּי־הִיאki-hifor itשָׁמְעָהsha/me/Ahas heardאֵת־כׇּל־אִמְרֵיet-kol-im/REall the words ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe spokeעִמָּנוּim/MA/nuwith usוְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand it shall beבָכֶםva/KHEMagainst youלְעֵדָהle/e/DAa witnessפֶּן־תְּכַחֲשׁוּןpen-te/kha/cha/SHUNlest you denyבֵּאלֹהֵיכֶם׃be/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.

28. 28

    וַיְשַׁלַּחvay/shal/LACHso sent awayיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleאִישׁisheachלְנַחֲלָתוֹ׃le/na/cha/la/TOto his inheritance

    So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.

29. 29

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיָּמׇתvay/YA/motthat diedיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבִּן־נוּןbin-Nunthe son of NunעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבֶּן־מֵאָהben-me/Aa hundredוָעֶשֶׂרva/E/serand tenשָׁנִים׃sha/NIMyears

    And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the LORD, died, being an hundred and ten years old.

30. 30

    וַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבִּגְבוּלbig/VULin the territory ofנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOhis inheritanceבְּתִמְנַת־סֶרַחbe/Tim/NAT-SE/rachin Timnath-serahאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhich isבְּהַר־אֶפְרָיִםbe/HAR-ef/RA/yimin the hill country of Ephraimמִצְּפוֹןmits/tse/FONon the north ofלְהַר־גָּעַשׁ׃le/HAR-GA/ashof Mount Gaash

    And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.

31. 31

    וַיַּעֲבֹדvay/ya/a/VODand servedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDכֹּלkolallיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוְכֹלve/KHOLand allיְמֵיye/MEthe days ofהַזְּקֵנִיםhaz/ze/ke/NIMthe eldersאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoהֶאֱרִיכוּhe/e/RI/khuprolongedיָמִיםya/MIMdaysאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whoיָדְעוּya/de/Uthey knewאֵת־כׇּל־מַעֲשֵׂהet-kol-ma/a/SEall the work ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichעָשָׂהa/SAHe had doneלְיִשְׂרָאֵל׃le/Yis/ra/ELfor Israel

    And Israel served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the LORD, that he had done for Israel.

    וְאֶת־עַצְמוֹתve/ET-ats/MOTand the bones ofיוֹסֵףYo/SEFJosephאֲשֶׁר־הֶעֱלוּa/SHER-he/e/LUwhich brought upבְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵלve/NE-yis/ra/ELthe children of Israelמִמִּצְרַיִםmim/Mits/RA/yimout of Egyptקָבְרוּka/ve/RUthey buriedבִשְׁכֶםVish/KHEMat Shechemבְּחֶלְקַתbe/chel/KATin the plot ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichקָנָהka/NAboughtיַעֲקֹבYa/a/KOVJacobמֵאֵתme/ETfromבְּנֵי־חֲמוֹרbe/NE-cha/MORthe sons of Hamorאֲבִי־שְׁכֶםa/VI-She/KHEMthe father of Shechemבְּמֵאָהbe/me/Afor a hundredקְשִׂיטָהke/si/TApieces of moneyוַיִּהְיוּvay/yih/YUand it becameלִבְנֵי־יוֹסֵףliv/NE-Yo/SEFfor the children of Josephלְנַחֲלָה׃le/na/cha/LAan inheritance

    And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.

    וְאֶלְעָזָרve/El/a/ZARand Eleazarבֶּן־אַהֲרֹןben-A/ha/RONthe son of Aaronמֵתmetdiedוַיִּקְבְּרוּvay/yik/be/RUand they buriedאֹתוֹo/TOhimבְּגִבְעַתbe/Giv/ATin Gibeah ofפִּינְחָסPi/ne/CHASPhinehasבְּנוֹbe/NOhis sonאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנִתַּן־לוֹnit/TAN-lohad been given himבְּהַרbe/HARin the hill country ofאֶפְרָיִם׃Ef/RA/yimEphraim

    And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
