   וַיְהִיvay/HIand it came to passמִיָּמִיםmiy/ya/MIMafter daysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterאֲשֶׁר־הֵנִיחַa/SHER-he/NI/achthat had given restיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELto Israelמִכׇּל־אֹיְבֵיהֶםmik/KOL-oy/ve/HEMfrom all their enemiesמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVall aroundוִיהוֹשֻׁעַVi/ho/SHU/aand Joshuaזָקֵןza/KENwas oldבָּאbaadvancedבַּיָּמִים׃bay/ya/MIMin days

   And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old and stricken in age.

   וַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand calledיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaלְכׇל־יִשְׂרָאֵלle/KHOL-yis/ra/ELto all Israelלִזְקֵנָיוliz/ke/NAYVfor their eldersוּלְרָאשָׁיוu/le/ra/SHAYVand their headsוּלְשֹׁפְטָיוu/le/shof/TAYVand their judgesוּלְשֹׁטְרָיוu/le/shot/RAYVand their officersוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMto themאֲנִיa/NIIזָקַנְתִּיza/KAN/tiam oldבָּאתִיBA/tiadvancedבַּיָּמִים׃bay/ya/MIMin days

   And Joshua called for all Israel, and for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old and stricken in age:

   וְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMand youרְאִיתֶםre/i/TEMhave seenאֵת־כׇּל־אֲשֶׁרet-kol-a/SHERall thatעָשָׂהa/SAhas doneיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godלְכׇל־הַגּוֹיִםle/KHOL-hag/go/YIMto all nationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMbecause of youכִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour GodהוּאhuHe isהַנִּלְחָםhan/nil/CHAMwho foughtלָכֶם׃la/KHEMfor you

   And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God is he that hath fought for you.

   רְאוּre/Useeהִפַּלְתִּיhip/PAL/tiI have allottedלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־הַגּוֹיִםet-hag/go/YIMthe nationsהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםhan/nish/a/RIMthat remainהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseבְּנַחֲלָהbe/na/cha/LAas an inheritanceלְשִׁבְטֵיכֶםle/shiv/te/KHEMfor your tribesמִן־הַיַּרְדֵּןmin-Hay/yar/DENfrom the Jordanוְכׇל־הַגּוֹיִםve/KHOL-hag/go/YIMand all the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִכְרַתִּיhikh/RAT/tiI have cut offוְהַיָּםve/hay/YAMeven to the seaהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatמְבוֹאme/VOtoward the going down ofהַשָּׁמֶשׁ׃hash/SHA/meshthe sun

   Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.

   וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour GodהוּאhuHeיֶהְדֳּפֵםyeh/do/FEMwill thrust them outמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMfrom before youוְהוֹרִישׁve/ho/RISHand drive outאֹתָםo/TAMthemמִלִּפְנֵיכֶםmil/lif/ne/KHEMfrom your sightוִירִשְׁתֶּםvi/rish/TEMand you shall possessאֶת־אַרְצָםet-ar/TSAMtheir landכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERpromisedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyou

   And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.

6. 6

   וַחֲזַקְתֶּםva/cha/zak/TEMtherefore be strongמְאֹדme/ODveryלִשְׁמֹרlish/MORto keepוְלַעֲשׂוֹתve/la/a/SOTand to doאֵת־כׇּל־הַכָּתוּבet-kol-hak/ka/TUVall that is writtenבְּסֵפֶרbe/SE/ferin the book ofתּוֹרַתto/RATthe law ofמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat you notסוּר־מִמֶּנּוּsur-mim/MEN/nuturn aside from itיָמִיןya/MINto the rightוּשְׂמֹאול׃us/MOLor to the left

   Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom to the right hand or to the left;

   לְבִלְתִּי־בֹאle/vil/TI-vothat you not goבַּגּוֹיִםbag/go/YIMamong nationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםhan/nish/a/RIMthat remainהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youוּבְשֵׁםu/ve/SHEMand of the name ofאֱלֹהֵיהֶםe/lo/he/HEMtheir godsלֹא־תַזְכִּירוּlo-taz/KI/rudo not make mentionוְלֹאve/LOnorתַשְׁבִּיעוּtash/BI/ucause to swearוְלֹאve/LOnorתַעַבְדוּםta/av/DUMserve themוְלֹאve/LOnorתִשְׁתַּחֲווּtish/ta/cha/VUbow downלָהֶם׃la/HEMto them

   That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear by them, neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:

8. 8

   כִּיkibutאִם־בַּיהֹוָהim-ba-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godתִּדְבָּקוּtid/BA/kucleaveכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasעֲשִׂיתֶםa/si/TEMyou have doneעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.

9. 9

   וַיּוֹרֶשׁvay/YO/reshfor has driven outיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDמִפְּנֵיכֶםmip/pe/ne/KHEMfrom before youגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsגְּדֹלִיםge/do/LIMgreatוַעֲצוּמִיםva/a/tsu/MIMand mightyוְאַתֶּםve/at/TEMbut as for youלֹא־עָמַדlo-A/madhas not stoodאִישׁisha manבִּפְנֵיכֶםbif/ne/KHEMbefore youעַדadtoהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַזֶּה׃haz/ZEthis

   For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.

10. 10

    אִישׁ־אֶחָדish-e/CHADone manמִכֶּםmik/KEMof youיִרְדׇּף־אָלֶףyir/DOF-A/lefshall chase a thousandכִּיkiforיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godהוּאhuit is Heהַנִּלְחָםhan/nil/CHAMwho fightsלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasדִּבֶּרdib/BERHe promisedלָכֶם׃la/KHEMyou

    One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he it is that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.

11. 11

    וְנִשְׁמַרְתֶּםve/nish/mar/TEMtherefore take good heedמְאֹדme/ODveryלְנַפְשֹׁתֵיכֶםle/naf/sho/te/KHEMto yourselvesלְאַהֲבָהle/a/ha/VAto loveאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.

12. 12

    כִּיkiforאִם־שׁוֹבim-shovif turn backתָּשׁוּבוּta/SHU/vuyou turn backוּדְבַקְתֶּםu/de/vak/TEMand cleaveבְּיֶתֶרbe/YE/terto the rest ofהַגּוֹיִםhag/go/YIMthe nationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהַנִּשְׁאָרִיםhan/nish/a/RIMthat remainהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseאִתְּכֶםit/te/KHEMwith youוְהִתְחַתַּנְתֶּםve/hit/chat/tan/TEMand make marriagesבָּהֶםba/HEMwith themוּבָאתֶםu/va/TEMand go inבָּהֶםba/HEMto themוְהֵםve/HEMand theyבָּכֶם׃ba/KHEMto you

    Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, even these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:

13. 13

    יָדוֹעַya/DO/aknowתֵּדְעוּted/Uyou shall knowכִּיkithatלֹאlonotיוֹסִיףyo/SIFwill againיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godלְהוֹרִישׁle/ho/RISHto drive outאֶת־הַגּוֹיִםet-hag/go/YIMthe nationsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseמִלִּפְנֵיכֶםmil/lif/ne/KHEMfrom before youוְהָיוּve/ha/YUbut they shall beלָכֶםla/KHEMto youלְפַחle/FACHa trapוּלְמוֹקֵשׁu/le/mo/KESHand a snareוּלְשֹׁטֵטu/le/sho/TETand a scourgeבְּצִדֵּיכֶםbe/tsid/de/KHEMon your sidesוְלִצְנִנִיםve/lits/ni/NIMand thornsבְּעֵינֵיכֶםbe/e/ne/KHEMin your eyesעַד־אֲבׇדְכֶםad-a/vod/KHEMuntil you perishמֵעַלme/ALfrom offהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe landהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַןna/TANhas givenלָכֶםla/KHEMto youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out any of these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

14. 14

    וְהִנֵּהve/hin/NEand beholdאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIהוֹלֵךְho/LEKHam goingהַיּוֹםhay/YOMthis dayבְּדֶרֶךְbe/DE/rekhthe way ofכׇּל־הָאָרֶץkol-ha/A/retsall the earthוִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you knowבְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶםbe/KHOL-le/vav/KHEMwith all your heartsוּבְכׇל־נַפְשְׁכֶםu/ve/KHOL-naf/she/KHEMand with all your soulכִּיkithatלֹא־נָפַלlo-na/FALhas not failedדָּבָרda/VARwordאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִכֹּלmik/KOLof allהַדְּבָרִיםhad/de/va/RIMthe wordsהַטּוֹבִיםhat/to/VIMgoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבֶּרdib/BERspokeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMconcerning youהַכֹּלhak/KOLallבָּאוּBA/uhave come to passלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youלֹא־נָפַלlo-na/FALhas not failedמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nuof themדָּבָרda/VARwordאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

    And, behold, this day I am going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, and not one thing hath failed thereof.

15. 15

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכַּאֲשֶׁר־בָּאka/a/SHER-baas have comeעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youכׇּל־הַדָּבָרkol-had/da/VARall the thingsהַטּוֹבhat/TOVgoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבֶּרdib/BERpromisedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMto youכֵּןkensoיָבִיאya/VIwill bringיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעֲלֵיכֶםa/le/KHEMupon youאֵת־כׇּל־הַדָּבָרet-kol-had/da/VARall the thingsהָרָעha/RAevilעַד־הַשְׁמִידוֹad-hash/mi/DOuntil He has destroyedאוֹתְכֶםot/KHEMyouמֵעַלme/ALfrom offהָאֲדָמָהha/a/da/MAthe landהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַןna/TANhas givenלָכֶםla/KHEMto youיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God

    Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.

16. 16

    בְּעׇבְרְכֶםbe/ov/re/KHEMwhen you transgressאֶת־בְּרִיתet-be/RITthe covenant ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouוַהֲלַכְתֶּםva/ha/lakh/TEMand goוַעֲבַדְתֶּםva/a/vad/TEMand serveאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםe/lo/HIM-a/che/RIMother godsוְהִשְׁתַּחֲוִיתֶםve/hish/ta/cha/vi/TEMand bow downלָהֶםla/HEMto themוְחָרָהve/cha/RAthen shall be kindledאַף־יְהֹוָהaf-Adonaithe anger of the LORDבָּכֶםba/KHEMagainst youוַאֲבַדְתֶּםva/a/vad/TEMand you shall perishמְהֵרָהme/he/RAquicklyמֵעַלme/ALfrom offהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landהַטּוֹבָהhat/to/VAgoodאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַןna/TANHe has givenלָכֶם׃la/KHEMto you

    When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
