   And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,

   וְאֶל־הַמְּלָכִיםve/EL-ham/me/la/KHIMand to the kingsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwho wereמִצְּפוֹןmits/tse/FONon the northבָּהָרba/HARin the hill countryוּבָעֲרָבָהu/Va/a/ra/VAand in the ArabahנֶגֶבNE/gevsouth ofכִּנְרוֹתKin/ROTChinnerothוּבַשְּׁפֵלָהu/Vash/she/fe/LAand in the Shephelahוּבְנָפוֹתu/ve/na/FOTand in the heights ofדּוֹרDorDorמִיָּם׃miy/YAMon the west

   And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of Dor on the west,

   הַכְּנַעֲנִיhak/Ke/na/a/NIto the Canaanitesמִמִּזְרָחmim/miz/RACHon the eastוּמִיָּםu/miy/YAMand on the westוְהָאֱמֹרִיve/Ha/e/mo/RIand the Amoriteוְהַחִתִּיve/ha/Chit/TIand the Hittiteוְהַפְּרִזִּיve/hap/Pe/riz/ZIand the PerizziteוְהַיְבוּסִיVe/hay/vu/SIand the Jebusiteבָּהָרba/HARin the hill countryוְהַחִוִּיve/ha/Chiv/VIand the HiviteתַּחַתTA/chatunderחֶרְמוֹןCher/MONHermonבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofהַמִּצְפָּה׃Ham/mits/PAMizpah

   And to the Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.

   וַיֵּצְאוּvay/yets/Uand they went outהֵםhemtheyוְכׇל־מַחֲנֵיהֶםve/KHOL-ma/cha/ne/HEMand all their armiesעִמָּםim/MAMwith themעַם־רָבam-ravmany peopleכַּחוֹלka/CHOLlike the sandאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isעַל־שְׂפַת־הַיָּםal-se/FAT-hay/YAMon the seashoreלָרֹבla/ROVin multitudeוְסוּסve/SUSwith horsesוָרֶכֶבva/RE/khevand chariotsרַב־מְאֹד׃rav-me/ODvery many

   And they went out, they and all their hosts with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.

   וַיִּוָּעֲדוּvay/yiv/va/a/DUand met togetherכֹּלkolallהַמְּלָכִיםham/me/la/KHIMthe kingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוַיָּבֹאוּvay/ya/VO/uand they cameוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand they encampedיַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherאֶל־מֵיel-meto the waters ofמֵרוֹםMe/ROMMeromלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightעִם־יִשְׂרָאֵל׃im-Yis/ra/ELwith Israel

   And when all these kings were met together, they came and pitched together at the waters of Merom, to fight against Israel.

   וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־יְהוֹשֻׁעַel-Ye/ho/SHU/ato Joshuaאַל־תִּירָאal-ti/RAdo not fearמִפְּנֵיהֶםmip/pe/ne/HEMbecause of themכִּי־מָחָרki-ma/CHARfor tomorrowכָּעֵתka/ETabout timeהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIנֹתֵןno/TENwill deliverאֶת־כֻּלָּםet-kul/LAMall of themחֲלָלִיםcha/la/LIMslainלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאֶת־סוּסֵיהֶםet-su/se/HEMtheir horsesתְּעַקֵּרte/ak/KERyou shall hamstringוְאֶת־מַרְכְּבֹתֵיהֶםve/ET-mar/ke/vo/te/HEMand their chariotsתִּשְׂרֹףtis/ROFyou shall burnבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

   And the LORD said unto Joshua, Be not afraid because of them: for to morrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel: thou shalt hough their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

   וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOso cameיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוְכׇל־עַםve/KHOL-amand all the people ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarעִמּוֹim/MOwith himעֲלֵיהֶםa/le/HEMagainst themעַל־מֵיal-meby the waters ofמֵרוֹםMe/ROMMeromפִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyוַיִּפְּלוּvay/yip/pe/LUand fellבָּהֶם׃ba/HEMupon them

   So Joshua came, and all the people of war with him, against them by the waters of Merom suddenly; and they fell upon them.

   וַיִּתְּנֵםvay/yit/te/NEMand delivered themיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDבְּיַד־יִשְׂרָאֵלbe/YAD-yis/ra/ELinto the hand of Israelוַיַּכּוּםvay/yak/KUMand they struck themוַיִּרְדְּפוּםvay/yir/de/FUMand chased themעַד־צִידוֹןad-Tsi/DONto Zidonרַבָּהrab/BAthe greatוְעַדve/ADand toמִשְׂרְפוֹתMis/re/FOTMisrephoth-מַיִםMA/yimmaimוְעַד־בִּקְעַתve/AD-bik/ATand to the valley ofמִצְפֶּהMits/PEMizpehמִזְרָחָהmiz/RA/chaeastwardוַיַּכֻּםvay/yak/KUMand they struck themעַד־בִּלְתִּיad-bil/TIuntil notהִשְׁאִיר־לָהֶםhish/IR-la/HEMwas left themשָׂרִיד׃sa/RIDa survivor

   And the LORD delivered them into the hand of Israel, who smote them, and chased them unto great Zidon, and unto Misrephoth-maim, and unto the valley of Mizpeh eastward; and they smote them, until they left them none remaining.

9. 9

   וַיַּעַשׂvay/YA/asand didלָהֶםla/HEMto themיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasאָמַר־לוֹa/MAR-lohad told himיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־סוּסֵיהֶםet-su/se/HEMtheir horsesעִקֵּרik/KERhe hamstrungוְאֶת־מַרְכְּבֹתֵיהֶםve/ET-mar/ke/vo/te/HEMand their chariotsשָׂרַףsa/RAFhe burnedבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

   And Joshua did unto them as the LORD bade him: he houghed their horses, and burnt their chariots with fire.

10. 10

    וַיָּשׇׁבvay/YA/shovand turned backיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוַיִּלְכֹּדvay/yil/KODand tookאֶת־חָצוֹרet-Cha/TSORHazorוְאֶת־מַלְכָּהּve/ET-mal/KAand its kingהִכָּהhik/KAhe struckבֶחָרֶבve/CHA/revwith the swordכִּי־חָצוֹרki-Cha/TSORfor Hazorלְפָנִיםle/fa/NIMformerlyהִיאhiwasרֹאשׁroshthe head ofכׇּל־הַמַּמְלָכוֹתkol-ham/mam/la/KHOTall the kingdomsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And Joshua at that time turned back, and took Hazor, and smote the king thereof with the sword: for Hazor beforetime was the head of all those kingdoms.

11. 11

    וַיַּכּוּvay/yak/KUand they struckאֶת־כׇּל־הַנֶּפֶשׁet-kol-han/NE/feshevery soulאֲשֶׁר־בָּהּa/SHER-bathat was in itלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revwith the edge of the swordהַחֲרֵםha/cha/REMutterly destroyingלֹאlonotנוֹתַרno/TARwas leftכׇּל־נְשָׁמָהkol-ne/sha/MAany that breathedוְאֶת־חָצוֹרve/ET-cha/TSORand Hazorשָׂרַףsa/RAFhe burnedבָּאֵשׁ׃ba/ESHwith fire

    And they smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them: there was not any left to breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.

12. 12

    וְאֶת־כׇּל־עָרֵיve/ET-kol-a/REand all the cities ofהַמְּלָכִים־הָאֵלֶּהham/me/la/KHIM-ha/EL/lethese kingsוְאֶת־כׇּל־מַלְכֵיהֶםve/ET-kol-mal/khe/HEMand all their kingsלָכַדla/KHADtookיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand struck themלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revwith the edge of the swordהֶחֱרִיםhe/che/RIMhe utterly destroyedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesעֶבֶדE/vedthe servant ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and smote them with the edge of the sword, and he utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.

    רַקrakbutכׇּל־הֶעָרִיםkol-he/a/RIMall the citiesהָעֹמְדוֹתha/om/DOTthat stoodעַל־תִּלָּםal-til/LAMon their moundsלֹאlonotשְׂרָפָםse/ra/FAMburnedיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelזוּלָתִיzu/la/TIexceptאֶת־חָצוֹרet-Cha/TSORHazorלְבַדָּהּle/vad/DAonlyשָׂרַףsa/RAFburnedיְהוֹשֻׁעַ׃Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshua

    But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.

14. 14

    וְכֹלve/KHOLand allשְׁלַלshe/LALthe spoil ofהֶעָרִיםhe/a/RIMthe citiesהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseוְהַבְּהֵמָהve/hab/be/he/MAand the livestockבָּזְזוּba/ze/ZUtook as plunderלָהֶםla/HEMfor themselvesבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelרַקrakonlyאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָדָםet-kol-ha/a/DAMevery manהִכּוּhik/KUthey struckלְפִי־חֶרֶבle/FI-CHE/revwith the edge of the swordעַד־הִשְׁמִדָםad-hish/mi/DAMuntil they had destroyedאוֹתָםo/TAMthemלֹאlonotהִשְׁאִירוּhish/I/ruthey leftכׇּל־נְשָׁמָה׃kol-ne/sha/MAany that breathed

    And all the spoil of these cities, and the cattle, the children of Israel took for a prey unto themselves; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, neither left they any to breathe.

15. 15

    כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁהet-Mo/SHEMosesעַבְדּוֹav/DOHis servantכֵּן־צִוָּהken-tsiv/VAso commandedמֹשֶׁהMo/SHEMosesאֶת־יְהוֹשֻׁעַet-Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshuaוְכֵןve/KHENand soעָשָׂהa/SAdidיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaלֹא־הֵסִירlo-he/SIRhe did not removeדָּבָרda/VARanythingמִכֹּלmik/KOLof allאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat had commandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃et-Mo/SHEMoses

    As the LORD commanded Moses his servant, so did Moses command Joshua, and so did Joshua; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD commanded Moses.

16. 16

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the landהַזֹּאתhaz/ZOTthisהָהָרha/HARthe hill countryוְאֶת־כׇּל־הַנֶּגֶבve/ET-kol-han/NE/gevand all the Negevוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֶרֶץkol-E/retsall the land ofהַגֹּשֶׁןHag/GO/shenGoshenוְאֶת־הַשְּׁפֵלָהve/ET-hash/she/fe/LAand the Shephelahוְאֶת־הָעֲרָבָהve/ET-ha/a/ra/VAand the Arabahוְאֶת־הַרve/ET-harand the hill country ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוּשְׁפֵלָתֹה׃u/She/fe/la/TOand its Shephelah

    So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;

17. 17

    מִן־הָהָרmin-Ha/HARfrom MountהֶחָלָקHe/cha/LAKHalakהָעוֹלֶהha/o/LEthat goes up toשֵׂעִירSe/IRSeirוְעַד־בַּעַלve/AD-BA/alto Baal-גָּדgadgadבְּבִקְעַתbe/vik/ATin the valley ofהַלְּבָנוֹןHal/le/va/NONLebanonתַּחַתTA/chatunderהַר־חֶרְמוֹןHar-cher/MONMount Hermonוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־מַלְכֵיהֶםkol-mal/khe/HEMall their kingsלָכַדla/KHADhe tookוַיַּכֵּםvay/yak/KEMand struck themוַיְמִיתֵם׃vay/mi/TEMand put them to death

    Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to Seir, even unto Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon under mount Hermon: and all their kings he took, and smote them, and slew them.

18. 18

    יָמִיםya/MIMdaysרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyעָשָׂהa/SAmadeיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־כׇּל־הַמְּלָכִיםet-kol-ham/me/la/KHIMall the kingsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAwar

    Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.

19. 19

    לֹא־הָיְתָהlo-ha/ye/TAthere was notעִירira cityאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatהִשְׁלִימָהhish/LI/mamade peaceאֶל־בְּנֵיel-be/NEwith the children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelבִּלְתִּיbil/TIexceptהַחִוִּיha/Chiv/VIthe Hivitesיֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEthe inhabitants ofגִבְעוֹןGiv/ONGibeonאֶת־הַכֹּלet-hak/KOLallלָקְחוּla/ke/CHUthey tookבַמִּלְחָמה׃vam/mil/CHAMin battle

    There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon: all other they took in battle.

20. 20

    כִּיkibecauseמֵאֵתme/ETofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהָיְתָהha/ye/TAit wasלְחַזֵּקle/chaz/ZEKto hardenאֶת־לִבָּםet-lib/BAMtheir heartsלִקְרַאתlik/RATthat they should come againstהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAin battleאֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵלet-Yis/ra/ELIsraelלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatהַחֲרִימָםha/cha/ri/MAMHe might utterly destroy themלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIthat notהֱיוֹת־לָהֶםhe/YOT-la/HEMthey might haveתְּחִנָּהte/chin/NAfavorכִּיkibutלְמַעַןle/MA/anthatהַשְׁמִידָםhash/mi/DAMHe might destroy themכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasצִוָּהtsiv/VAcommandedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־מֹשֶׁה׃et-Mo/SHEMoses

    For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.

21. 21

    וַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaבָּעֵתba/ETat the timeהַהִיאha/HIthatוַיַּכְרֵתvay/yakh/RETand cut offאֶת־הָעֲנָקִיםet-Ha/a/na/KIMthe Anakimמִן־הָהָרmin-ha/HARfrom the hill countryמִן־חֶבְרוֹןmin-Chev/RONfrom Hebronמִן־דְּבִרmin-De/VIRfrom Debirמִן־עֲנָבmin-A/NAVfrom Anabוּמִכֹּלu/mik/KOLand of allהַרharthe hill country ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahוּמִכֹּלu/mik/KOLand of allהַרharthe hill country ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעִם־עָרֵיהֶםim-a/re/HEMwith their citiesהֶחֱרִימָםhe/che/ri/MAMutterly destroyed themיְהוֹשֻׁעַ׃Ye/ho/SHU/aJoshua

    And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

22. 22

    לֹא־נוֹתַרlo-no/TARthere were none left ofעֲנָקִיםA/na/KIMthe Anakimבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofבְּנֵיbe/NEthe children ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelרַקrakonlyבְּעַזָּהbe/Az/ZAin Gazaבְּגַתbe/GATin Gathוּבְאַשְׁדּוֹדu/ve/Ash/DODand in Ashdodנִשְׁאָרוּ׃nish/A/ruthey remained

    There was none of the Anakims left in the land of the children of Israel: only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, there remained.

23. 23

    וַיִּקַּחvay/yik/KACHand tookיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the landכְּכֹלke/KHOLaccording to allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדִּבֶּרdib/BERhad spokenיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶל־מֹשֶׁהel-Mo/SHEto Mosesוַיִּתְּנָהּvay/yit/te/NAand gave itיְהוֹשֻׁעַYe/ho/SHU/aJoshuaלְנַחֲלָהle/na/cha/LAas an inheritanceלְיִשְׂרָאֵלle/Yis/ra/ELto Israelכְּמַחְלְקֹתָםke/mach/le/ko/TAMaccording to their divisionsלְשִׁבְטֵיהֶםle/shiv/te/HEMby their tribesוְהָאָרֶץve/ha/A/retsand the landשָׁקְטָהsha/ke/TArestedמִמִּלְחָמָה׃mim/mil/cha/MAfrom war

    So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
