Jonah 3 יוֹנָה פרק ג׳

   וַיְהִיvay/HIand cameדְבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDאֶל־יוֹנָהel-Yo/NAto Jonahשֵׁנִיתshe/NITthe second timeלֵאמֹר׃le/MORsaying

   And the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the second time, saying,

   קוּםkumariseלֵךְlekhgoאֶל־נִינְוֵהel-Ni/ne/VEto Ninevehהָעִירha/IRthe cityהַגְּדוֹלָהhag/ge/do/LAthe greatוּקְרָאu/ke/RAand proclaimאֵלֶיהָe/LE/hato itאֶת־הַקְּרִיאָהet-hak/ke/ri/Athe preachingאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIדֹּבֵרdo/VERspeakאֵלֶיךָ׃e/LE/khato you

   Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee.

   וַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand aroseיוֹנָהYo/NAJonahוַיֵּלֶךְvay/YE/lekhand wentאֶל־נִינְוֵהel-Ni/ne/VEto Ninevehכִּדְבַרkid/VARaccording to the word ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוְנִינְוֵהve/Ni/ne/VEand Ninevehהָיְתָהha/ye/TAwasעִיר־גְּדוֹלָהir-ge/do/LAa great cityלֵאלֹהִיםle/lo/HIMto Godמַהֲלַךְma/ha/LAKHa journey ofשְׁלֹשֶׁתshe/LO/shetthreeיָמִים׃ya/MIMdays

   So Jonah arose, and went unto Nineveh, according to the word of the LORD. Now Nineveh was an exceeding great city of three days' journey.

   וַיָּחֶלvay/YA/cheland beganיוֹנָהYo/NAJonahלָבוֹאla/VOto enterבָעִירva/IRinto the cityמַהֲלַךְma/ha/LAKHa journey ofיוֹםyoma dayאֶחָדe/CHADoneוַיִּקְרָאvay/yik/RAand he criedוַיֹּאמַרvay/yo/MARand saidעוֹדodyetאַרְבָּעִיםar/ba/IMfortyיוֹםyomdaysוְנִינְוֵהve/Ni/ne/VEand Ninevehנֶהְפָּכֶת׃neh/PA/khetshall be overthrown

   And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

   וַיַּאֲמִינוּvay/ya/a/MI/nuand believedאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofנִינְוֵהNi/ne/VENinevehבֵּאלֹהִיםbe/lo/HIMin Godוַיִּקְרְאוּ־צוֹםvay/yik/re/U-tsomand proclaimed a fastוַיִּלְבְּשׁוּvay/yil/be/SHUand put onשַׂקִּיםsak/KIMsackclothמִגְּדוֹלָםmig/ge/do/LAMfrom the greatest of themוְעַד־קְטַנָּם׃ve/AD-ke/tan/NAMeven to the least of them

   So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

   וַיִּגַּעvay/yig/GAand reachedהַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֶל־מֶלֶךְel-ME/lekhto the king ofנִינְוֵהNi/ne/VENinevehוַיָּקׇםvay/YA/komand he aroseמִכִּסְאוֹmik/kis/Ofrom his throneוַיַּעֲבֵרvay/ya/a/VERand laid asideאַדַּרְתּוֹad/dar/TOhis robeמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himוַיְכַסvay/KHASand covered himself withשַׂקsaksackclothוַיֵּשֶׁבvay/YE/shevand satעַל־הָאֵפֶר׃al-ha/E/ferin the ashes

   For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

   וַיַּזְעֵקvay/yaz/EKand he proclaimedוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidבְּנִינְוֵהbe/Ni/ne/VEin Ninevehמִטַּעַםmit/TA/amby the decree ofהַמֶּלֶךְham/ME/lekhthe kingוּגְדֹלָיוu/ge/do/LAYVand his noblesלֵאמֹרle/MORsayingהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanוְהַבְּהֵמָהve/hab/be/he/MAand beastהַבָּקָרhab/ba/KARherdוְהַצֹּאןve/hats/TSONand flockאַל־יִטְעֲמוּal-yit/a/MUlet not tasteמְאוּמָהme/U/maanythingאַל־יִרְעוּal-yir/Ulet them not feedוּמַיִםu/MA/yimand waterאַל־יִשְׁתּוּ׃al-yish/TUlet them not drink

   And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

   וְיִתְכַּסּוּve/yit/kas/SUand let be coveredשַׂקִּיםsak/KIMwith sackclothהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmanוְהַבְּהֵמָהve/hab/be/he/MAand beastוְיִקְרְאוּve/yik/re/Uand let them cryאֶל־אֱלֹהִיםel-e/lo/HIMunto Godבְּחׇזְקָהbe/choz/KAmightilyוְיָשֻׁבוּve/ya/SHU/vuand let them turnאִישׁishevery oneמִדַּרְכּוֹmid/dar/KOfrom his wayהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilוּמִן־הֶחָמָסu/MIN-he/cha/MASand from the violenceאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבְּכַפֵּיהֶם׃be/khap/pe/HEMin their hands

   But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

9. 9

   מִי־יוֹדֵעַmi-yo/DE/awho knowsיָשׁוּבya/SHUVwill turnוְנִחַםve/ni/CHAMand repentהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodוְשָׁבve/SHAVand turn awayמֵחֲרוֹןme/cha/RONfrom the fierceness ofאַפּוֹap/POHis angerוְלֹאve/LOand notנֹאבֵד׃no/VEDwe perish

   Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

10. 10

    וַיַּרְאvay/YARand sawהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂיהֶםet-ma/a/se/HEMtheir worksכִּי־שָׁבוּki-SHA/vuthat they turnedמִדַּרְכָּםmid/dar/KAMfrom their wayהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilוַיִּנָּחֶםvay/yin/NA/chemand repentedהָאֱלֹהִיםha/e/lo/HIMGodעַל־הָרָעָהal-ha/ra/Aof the evilאֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרa/SHER-dib/BERthat He had saidלַעֲשׂוֹת־לָהֶםla/a/SOT-la/HEMto do to themוְלֹאve/LOand notעָשָׂה׃a/SAHe did it

    And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
