Jonah 2 יוֹנָה פרק ב׳

1. 1

   וַיְמַןand assignedיְהֹוָהthe LORDדָּגfishגָּדוֹלgreatלִבְלֹעַto swallow upאֶת־יוֹנָהJonahוַיְהִיand it came to passיוֹנָהJonahבִּמְעֵיin the inward parts ofהַדָּגthe fishשְׁלֹשָׁהthreeיָמִיםdaysוּשְׁלֹשָׁהand threeלֵילוֹת׃nights

   Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.

2. 2

   וַיִּתְפַּלֵּלand he prayedיוֹנָהJonahאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godמִמְּעֵיfrom bowels ofהַדָּגָה׃the fish

   Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,

   וַיֹּאמֶרand saidקָרָאתִיI criedמִצָּרָהfrom troubleלִיto meאֶל־יְהֹוָהto the LORDוַיַּעֲנֵנִיand he answered meמִבֶּטֶןfrom the wombשְׁאוֹלSheolשִׁוַּעְתִּיI cried for helpשָׁמַעְתָּyou have heardקוֹלִי׃my voice

   And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

4. 4

   וַתַּשְׁלִיכֵנִיand you have thrown away meמְצוּלָהthe deepבִּלְבַבin the hearts ofיַמִּיםseasוְנָהָרand a riverיְסֹבְבֵנִיit surrounds meכׇּל־מִשְׁבָּרֶיךָall your breakersוְגַלֶּיךָand your wavesעָלַיupon meעָבָרוּ׃they have passed

   For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

5. 5

   וַאֲנִיand IאָמַרְתִּיI saidנִגְרַשְׁתִּיI have been driven awayמִנֶּגֶדfrom beforeעֵינֶיךָyour eyesאַךְbutאוֹסִיףI will look againלְהַבִּיטto lookאֶל־הֵיכַלto the temple ofקׇדְשֶׁךָ׃your holiness

   Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.

6. 6

   אֲפָפוּנִיthey encompassed meמַיִםwaterעַד־נֶפֶשׁuntil soulתְּהוֹםgulfיְסֹבְבֵנִיit surrounds meסוּףreedsחָבוּשׁis wrapped roundלְרֹאשִׁי׃my head

   The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head.

7. 7

   לְקִצְבֵיto extremities ofהָרִיםmountainsיָרַדְתִּיI went downהָאָרֶץthe earthבְּרִחֶיהָits barsבַעֲדִיfor meלְעוֹלָםforeverוַתַּעַלyet have you brought upמִשַּׁחַתfrom destructionחַיַּיmy lifeיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָי׃my God

   I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

8. 8

   בְּהִתְעַטֵּףwhen faints awayעָלַיupon meנַפְשִׁיmy soulאֶת־יְהֹוָהthe LORDזָכָרְתִּיI rememberוַתָּבוֹאand cameאֵלֶיךָto youתְּפִלָּתִיmy prayerאֶל־הֵיכַלto the temple ofקׇדְשֶׁךָ׃your holiness

   When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.

9. 9

   מְשַׁמְּרִיםthose who pay regardהַבְלֵי־שָׁוְאvanities of falsehoodחַסְדָּםtheir own mercyיַעֲזֹבוּ׃they abandon

   They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

10. 10

    וַאֲנִיand Iבְּקוֹלthe voice ofתּוֹדָהthanksgivingאֶזְבְּחָה־לָּךְI will sacrifice to youאֲשֶׁרwhichנָדַרְתִּיI vowedאֲשַׁלֵּמָהI will fulfillיְשׁוּעָתָהis deliveranceלַיהֹוָה׃to the LORD

    But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

11. 11

    וַיֹּאמֶרand saidיְהֹוָהthe LORDלַדָּגto the fishוַיָּקֵאand it vomited upאֶת־יוֹנָהJonahאֶל־הַיַּבָּשָׁה׃to the dry ground

    And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.
