Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations.

A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them.

כְּמַרְאֵהke/mar/Eas the appearance ofסוּסִיםsu/SIMhorsesמַרְאֵהוּmar/E/hutheir appearanceוּכְפָרָשִׁיםu/khe/fa/ra/SHIMand like horsemenכֵּןkensoיְרוּצוּן׃ye/ru/TSUNthey run
The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run.

כְּקוֹלke/KOLlike the noise ofמַרְכָּבוֹתmar/ka/VOTchariotsעַל־רָאשֵׁיal-ra/SHEon the tops ofהֶהָרִיםhe/ha/RIMthe mountainsיְרַקֵּדוּןye/rak/ke/DUNthey leapכְּקוֹלke/KOLlike the noise ofלַהַבLA/hava flame ofאֵשׁeshfireאֹכְלָהokh/LAthat devoursקָשׁkashstubbleכְּעַםke/AMas a peopleעָצוּםa/TSUMstrongעֱרוּךְe/RUKHset in array ofמִלְחָמָה׃mil/cha/MAbattle
Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.

Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.

כְּגִבּוֹרִיםke/gib/bo/RIMlike mighty menיְרֻצוּןye/ru/TSUNthey runכְּאַנְשֵׁיke/an/SHElike men ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarיַעֲלוּya/a/LUthey climbחוֹמָהcho/MAa wallוְאִישׁve/ISHand every oneבִּדְרָכָיוbid/ra/KHAYVin his waysיֵלֵכוּןye/le/KHUNthey marchוְלֹאve/LOand notיְעַבְּטוּןye/ab/be/TUNthey turn asideאֹרְחוֹתָם׃or/cho/TAMtheir paths
They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:

וְאִישׁve/ISHand oneאָחִיוa/CHIVhis brotherלֹאlonotיִדְחָקוּןyid/cha/KUNthey thrustגֶּבֶרGE/vereach oneבִּמְסִלָּתוֹbim/sil/la/TOin his pathיֵלֵכוּןye/le/KHUNthey marchוּבְעַדu/ve/ADand throughהַשֶּׁלַחhash/SHE/lachthe swordיִפֹּלוּyip/PO/luthey fallלֹאlonotיִבְצָעוּ׃yiv/TSA/uthey are wounded
Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

בָּעִירba/IRin the cityיָשֹׁקּוּya/SHOK/kuthey rushבַּחוֹמָהba/cho/MAon the wallיְרֻצוּןye/ru/TSUNthey runבַּבָּתִּיםbab/bat/TIMin the housesיַעֲלוּya/a/LUthey climb upבְּעַדbe/ADthroughהַחַלּוֹנִיםha/chal/lo/NIMthe windowsיָבֹאוּya/VO/uthey enterכַּגַּנָּב׃kag/gan/NAVlike the thief
They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.

The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:

וַיהֹוָהve-Adonaiand the LORDנָתַןna/TANuttersקוֹלוֹko/LOHis voiceלִפְנֵיlif/NEbeforeחֵילוֹche/LOHis armyכִּיkiforרַבravgreatמְאֹדme/ODveryמַחֲנֵהוּma/cha/NE/huHis campכִּיkiforעָצוּםa/TSUMmightyעֹשֵׂהo/SEthat executesדְבָרוֹde/va/ROHis wordכִּי־גָדוֹלki-ga/DOLfor great isיוֹם־יְהֹוָהyom-Adonaithe day of the LORDוְנוֹרָאve/no/RAand terribleמְאֹדme/ODveryוּמִיu/MIand whoיְכִילֶנּוּ׃ye/khi/LEN/nucan abide it
And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?

וְגַם־עַתָּהve/GAM-at/TAand even nowנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDשֻׁבוּSHU/vuturnעָדַיa/DAYto meבְּכׇל־לְבַבְכֶםbe/KHOL-le/vav/KHEMwith all your heartוּבְצוֹםu/ve/TSOMand with fastingוּבִבְכִיu/viv/KHIand with weepingוּבְמִסְפֵּד׃u/ve/mis/PEDand with mourning
Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:

וְקִרְעוּve/kir/Uand rendלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartוְאַל־בִּגְדֵיכֶםve/AL-big/de/KHEMand not your garmentsוְשׁוּבוּve/SHU/vuand returnאֶל־יְהֹוָהel-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godכִּי־חַנּוּןki-chan/NUNfor graciousוְרַחוּםve/ra/CHUMand mercifulהוּאhuis HeאֶרֶךְE/rekhslow toאַפַּיִםap/PA/yimangerוְרַב־חֶסֶדve/RAV-CHE/sedand of great kindnessוְנִחָםve/ni/CHAMand repentsעַל־הָרָעָה׃al-ha/ra/Aof the evil
And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.

מִיmiwhoיוֹדֵעַyo/DE/aknowsיָשׁוּבya/SHUVHe will turnוְנִחָםve/ni/CHAMand repentוְהִשְׁאִירve/hish/IRand leaveאַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVbehind Himבְּרָכָהbe/ra/KHAa blessingמִנְחָהmin/CHAa meal offeringוָנֶסֶךְva/NE/sekhand a drink offeringלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaito the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶם׃e/lo/he/KHEMyour God
Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?

תִּקְעוּtik/Ublowשׁוֹפָרsho/FARa shofarבְּצִיּוֹןbe/Tsiy/YONin Zionקַדְּשׁוּ־צוֹםkad/de/SHU-tsomsanctify a fastקִרְאוּkir/Ucallעֲצָרָה׃a/tsa/RAa solemn assembly
Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

אִסְפוּ־עָםis/FU-amgather the peopleקַדְּשׁוּkad/de/SHUsanctifyקָהָלka/HALthe congregationקִבְצוּkiv/TSUgatherזְקֵנִיםze/ke/NIMthe eldersאִסְפוּis/FUgatherעוֹלָלִיםo/la/LIMthe childrenוְיֹנְקֵיve/yon/KEand those that suckשָׁדָיִםsha/DA/yimthe breastsיֵצֵאye/TSElet go forthחָתָןcha/TANthe bridegroomמֵחֶדְרוֹme/ched/ROfrom his chamberוְכַלָּהve/khal/LAand the brideמֵחֻפָּתָהּ׃me/chup/pa/TAfrom her chamber
Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet.

בֵּיןbenbetweenהָאוּלָםha/u/LAMthe porchוְלַמִּזְבֵּחַve/lam/miz/BE/achand the altarיִבְכּוּyiv/KUlet weepהַכֹּהֲנִיםhak/ko/ha/NIMthe priestsמְשָׁרְתֵיme/sha/re/TEthe ministers ofיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDוְיֹאמְרוּve/yo/me/RUand let them sayחוּסָהCHU/saspareיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDעַל־עַמֶּךָal-am/ME/khaYour peopleוְאַל־תִּתֵּןve/AL-tit/TENand do not giveנַחֲלָתְךָna/cha/la/te/KHAYour heritageלְחֶרְפָּהle/cher/PAto reproachלִמְשׇׁל־בָּםlim/SHOL-bamthat they should rule over themגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsלָמָּהLAM/mawhyיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUshould they sayבָעַמִּיםva/am/MIMamong the peoplesאַיֵּהay/YEwhere isאֱלֹהֵיהֶם׃e/lo/he/HEMtheir God
Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?

וַיְקַנֵּאvay/kan/NEthen was jealousיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלְאַרְצוֹle/ar/TSOfor His landוַיַּחְמֹלvay/yach/MOLand pitiedעַל־עַמּוֹ׃al-am/MOHis people
Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people.

וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidלְעַמּוֹle/am/MOto His peopleהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iשֹׁלֵחַsho/LE/achwill sendלָכֶםla/KHEMyouאֶת־הַדָּגָןet-had/da/GANthe grainוְהַתִּירוֹשׁve/hat/ti/ROSHand the new wineוְהַיִּצְהָרve/hay/yits/HARand the oilוּשְׂבַעְתֶּםu/se/va/TEMand you will be satisfiedאֹתוֹo/TOwith itוְלֹא־אֶתֵּןve/LO-et/TENand I will not makeאֶתְכֶםet/KHEMyouעוֹדodagainחֶרְפָּהcher/PAa reproachבַּגּוֹיִם׃bag/go/YIMamong the nations
Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen:

וְאֶת־הַצְּפוֹנִיve/ET-hats/tse/fo/NIand the northern armyאַרְחִיקar/CHIKI will remove farמֵעֲלֵיכֶםme/a/le/KHEMfrom youוְהִדַּחְתִּיוve/hid/dach/TIVand I will drive himאֶל־אֶרֶץel-E/retsinto a landצִיָּהtsiy/YAbarrenוּשְׁמָמָהu/she/ma/MAand desolateאֶת־פָּנָיוet-pa/NAYVhis faceאֶל־הַיָּםel-hay/YAMto the seaהַקַּדְמֹנִיhak/kad/mo/NIthe easternוְסֹפוֹve/so/FOand his rearאֶל־הַיָּםel-hay/YAMto the seaהָאַחֲרוֹןha/a/cha/RONthe westernוְעָלָהve/a/LAand shall come upבׇאְשׁוֹvo/SHOhis stinkוְתַעַלve/TA/aland shall come upצַחֲנָתוֹtsa/cha/na/TOhis stenchכִּיkiforהִגְדִּילhig/DILhe has magnifiedלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto do
But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things.

אַל־תִּירְאִיal-ti/re/Ifear notאֲדָמָהa/da/MAO landגִּילִיgi/LIbe gladוּשְׂמָחִיu/se/MA/chiand rejoiceכִּי־הִגְדִּילki-hig/DILfor has magnifiedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלַעֲשׂוֹת׃la/a/SOTto do
Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the LORD will do great things.

אַל־תִּירְאוּal-ti/re/Ufear notבַּהֲמוֹתba/ha/MOTO beasts ofשָׂדַיsa/DAYthe fieldכִּיkiforדָשְׁאוּda/she/Uspring greenנְאוֹתne/OTthe pastures ofמִדְבָּרmid/BARthe wildernessכִּי־עֵץki-etsfor the treeנָשָׂאna/SAbearsפִרְיוֹfir/YOits fruitתְּאֵנָהte/e/NAthe fig treeוָגֶפֶןva/GE/fenand the vineנָתְנוּna/te/NUyieldחֵילָם׃che/LAMtheir strength
Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.

וּבְנֵיu/ve/NEand you children ofצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionגִּילוּGI/lube gladוְשִׂמְחוּve/sim/CHUand rejoiceבַּיהֹוָהba-Adonaiin the LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godכִּי־נָתַןki-na/TANfor He has givenלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youאֶת־הַמּוֹרֶהet-ham/mo/REthe former rainלִצְדָקָהlits/da/KAfor righteousnessוַיּוֹרֶדvay/YO/redand He brings downלָכֶםla/KHEMfor youגֶּשֶׁםGE/shemthe rainמוֹרֶהmo/REthe former rainוּמַלְקוֹשׁu/mal/KOSHand the latter rainבָּרִאשׁוֹן׃ba/ri/SHONat the first
Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

וּמָלְאוּu/ma/le/Uand shall be fullהַגֳּרָנוֹתhag/go/ra/NOTthe threshing floorsבָּרbarof wheatוְהֵשִׁיקוּve/he/SHI/kuand shall overflowהַיְקָבִיםhay/ka/VIMthe vatsתִּירוֹשׁti/ROSHwith new wineוְיִצְהָר׃ve/yits/HARand oil
And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.

וְשִׁלַּמְתִּיve/shil/lam/TIand I will restoreלָכֶםla/KHEMto youאֶת־הַשָּׁנִיםet-hash/sha/NIMthe yearsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichאָכַלa/KHALhas eatenהָאַרְבֶּהha/ar/BEthe locustהַיֶּלֶקhay/YE/lekthe cankerwormוְהֶחָסִילve/he/cha/SILand the caterpillerוְהַגָּזָםve/hag/ga/ZAMand the palmerwormחֵילִיche/LImy armyהַגָּדוֹלhag/ga/DOLthe greatאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichשִׁלַּחְתִּיshil/LACH/tiI sentבָּכֶם׃ba/KHEMamong you
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.

וַאֲכַלְתֶּםva/a/khal/TEMand you shall eatאָכוֹלa/KHOLeatingוְשָׂבוֹעַve/sa/VO/aand be satisfiedוְהִלַּלְתֶּםve/hil/lal/TEMand you will praiseאֶת־שֵׁםet-shemthe name ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godאֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂהa/SHER-a/SAwho has dealtעִמָּכֶםim/ma/KHEMwith youלְהַפְלִיאle/haf/LIwondrouslyוְלֹא־יֵבֹשׁוּve/LO-ye/VO/shuand shall not be ashamedעַמִּיam/MImy peopleלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMever
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.

וִידַעְתֶּםvi/da/TEMand you shall knowכִּיkithatבְקֶרֶבve/KE/revin the midst ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelאָנִיA/niam Iוַאֲנִיva/a/NIand I amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵיכֶםe/lo/he/KHEMyour Godוְאֵיןve/ENand noneעוֹדodelseוְלֹא־יֵבֹשׁוּve/LO-ye/VO/shuand shall not be ashamedעַמִּיam/MImy peopleלְעוֹלָם׃le/o/LAMever
And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
