Job 41 אִיּוֹב פרק מ״א

   הֵן־תֹּחַלְתּוֹhen-to/chal/TObehold the hope of himנִכְזָבָהnikh/ZA/vais falseהֲגַםha/GAMis not evenאֶל־מַרְאָיוel-mar/AYVat the sight of himיֻטָל׃yu/TALone laid low

   Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?

2. 2

   לֹא־אַכְזָרlo-akh/ZARno one is so fierceכִּיkithatיְעוּרֶנּוּye/u/REN/nuhe dares stir him upוּמִיu/MIand whoהוּאhuthen is heלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore Meיִתְיַצָּב׃yit/yats/TSAVwho can stand

   None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?

3. 3

   מִיmiwhoהִקְדִּימַנִיhik/di/ma/NIhas first given to Meוַאֲשַׁלֵּםva/a/shal/LEMthat I should repayתַּחַתTA/chatunderכׇּל־הַשָּׁמַיִםkol-hash/sha/MA/yimall the heavensלִי־הוּא׃li-huis Mine

   Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.

   (לא)l[לוֹ־]אַחֲרִישׁlo-a/cha/RISHI will not keep silent aboutבַּדָּיוbad/DAYVhis limbsוּדְבַר־גְּבוּרוֹתu/de/VAR-ge/vu/ROTor his mighty strengthוְחִיןve/CHINor the grace ofעֶרְכּוֹ׃er/KOhis frame

   I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.

   מִי־גִלָּהmi-gil/LAwho can strip offפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofלְבוּשׁוֹle/vu/SHOhis outer garmentבְּכֶפֶלbe/KHE/felinto the double ofרִסְנוֹris/NOhis bridleמִיmiwhoיָבוֹא׃ya/VOcan come

   Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?

   דַּלְתֵיdal/TEthe doors ofפָנָיוfa/NAYVhis faceמִיmiwhoפִתֵּחַfit/TE/achcan openסְבִיבוֹתse/vi/VOTaroundשִׁנָּיוshin/NAYVhis teethאֵימָה׃e/MAis terror

   Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.

   גַּאֲוָהga/a/VAhis pride isאֲפִיקֵיa/fi/KErows ofמָגִנִּיםma/gin/NIMshieldsסָגוּרsa/GURshut upחוֹתָםcho/TAMwith a sealצָר׃tsartight

   His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.

   אֶחָדe/CHADoneבְּאֶחָדbe/e/CHADto anotherיִגַּשׁוּyig/GA/shuthey are so nearוְרוּחַve/RU/achthat airלֹא־יָבֹאlo-ya/VOcannot comeבֵינֵיהֶם׃ve/ne/HEMamong them

   One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.

9. 9

   אִישׁ־בְּאָחִיהוּish-be/a/CHI/huone to anotherיְדֻבָּקוּye/dub/BA/kuthey are joinedיִתְלַכְּדוּyit/lak/ke/DUthey clasp each otherוְלֹאve/LOand notיִתְפָּרָדוּ׃yit/pa/RA/duthey can be separated

   They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.

    עֲטִישֹׁתָיוa/ti/sho/TAYVhis sneezingsתָּהֶלTA/helflash forthאוֹרorlightוְעֵינָיוve/e/NAYVand his eyes areכְּעַפְעַפֵּי־שָׁחַר׃ke/af/ap/PE-SHA/charlike the eyelids of the morning

    By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.

    מִפִּיוmip/PIVfrom his mouthלַפִּידִיםlap/pi/DIMtorchesיַהֲלֹכוּya/ha/LO/khugoכִּידוֹדֵיki/DO/desparks ofאֵשׁeshfireיִתְמַלָּטוּ׃yit/mal/LA/tuescape

    Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.

    מִנְּחִירָיוmin/ne/chi/RAYVout of his nostrilsיֵצֵאye/TSEgoesעָשָׁןa/SHANsmokeכְּדוּדke/DUDas from a potנָפוּחַna/FU/achboilingוְאַגְמֹן׃ve/ag/MONand of rushes

    Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.

    נַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis breathגֶּחָלִיםge/cha/LIMcoalsתְּלַהֵטte/la/HETkindlesוְלַהַבve/LA/havand a flameמִפִּיוmip/PIVfrom his mouthיֵצֵא׃ye/TSEgoes out

    His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.

    בְּצַוָּארוֹbe/tsav/va/ROin his neckיָלִיןya/LINabidesעֹזozstrengthוּלְפָנָיוu/le/fa/NAYVand before himתָּדוּץta/DUTSdancesדְּאָבָה׃de/a/VAdismay

    In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.

15. 15

    מַפְּלֵיmap/pe/LEthe folds ofבְשָׂרוֹve/sa/ROhis fleshדָבֵקוּda/VE/kucling togetherיָצוּקya/TSUKfirmעָלָיוa/LAYVon himבַּל־יִמּוֹט׃bal-yim/MOTthey cannot be moved

    The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.

16. 16

    לִבּוֹlib/BOhis heartיָצוּקya/TSUKis as firmכְּמוֹ־אָבֶןke/MO-A/venlike a stoneוְיָצוּקve/ya/TSUKand as firmכְּפֶלַחke/FE/lachas the piece ofתַּחְתִּית׃tach/TITthe lower millstone

    His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone.

17. 17

    מִשֵּׂתוֹmis/se/TOwhen he raises himselfיָגוּרוּya/GU/ruare afraidאֵלִיםe/LIMthe mightyמִשְּׁבָרִיםmish/she/va/RIMbecause of the crashingיִתְחַטָּאוּ׃yit/chat/TA/uthey are beside themselves

    When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.

18. 18

    מַשִּׂיגֵהוּmas/si/GE/huif one reaches himחֶרֶבCHE/revthe swordבְּלִיbe/LIdoes notתָקוּםta/KUMavailחֲנִיתcha/NITthe spearמַסָּעmas/SAthe dartוְשִׁרְיָה׃ve/shir/YAor the javelin

    The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.

    יַחְשֹׁבyach/SHOVhe esteemsלְתֶבֶןle/TE/venas strawבַּרְזֶלbar/ZELironלְעֵץle/ETSas wood ofרִקָּבוֹןrik/ka/VONrotנְחוּשָׁה׃ne/chu/SHAbronze

    He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.

20. 20

    לֹא־יַבְרִיחֶנּוּlo-yav/ri/CHEN/nucannot make him fleeבֶן־קָשֶׁתven-KA/shetthe arrowלְקַשׁle/KASHinto stubbleנֶהְפְּכוּ־לוֹneh/pe/KHU-loare turned for himאַבְנֵי־קָלַע׃av/NE-ka/LAsling stones

    The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.

21. 21

    כְּקַשׁke/KASHas stubbleנֶחְשְׁבוּnech/she/VUare accountedתוֹתָחto/TACHclubsוְיִשְׂחַקve/yis/CHAKand he laughsלְרַעַשׁle/RA/ashat the rattle ofכִּידוֹן׃ki/DONthe javelin

    Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.

22. 22

    תַּחְתָּיוtach/TAYVunder him areחַדּוּדֵיchad/DU/dethe sharpestחָרֶשׂCHA/respotsherdsיִרְפַּדyir/PADhe spreadsחָרוּץcha/RUTSa threshing sledgeעֲלֵי־טִיט׃a/LE-titon the mire

    Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.

23. 23

    יַרְתִּיחַyar/TI/achhe makes boilכַּסִּירkas/SIRlike a potמְצוּלָהme/tsu/LAthe deepיָםyamthe seaיָשִׂיםya/SIMhe makesכַּמֶּרְקָחָה׃kam/mer/ka/CHAlike a pot of ointment

    He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.

24. 24

    אַחֲרָיוa/cha/RAYVafter himיָאִירya/IRhe lightsנָתִיבna/TIVa pathיַחְשֹׁבyach/SHOVone would thinkתְּהוֹםte/HOMthe deepלְשֵׂיבָה׃le/se/VAto be gray-haired

    He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.

25. 25

    אֵין־עַל־עָפָרen-al-a/FARthere is not on earthמׇשְׁלוֹmosh/LOhis likeהֶעָשׂוּhe/a/SUone madeלִבְלִי־חָת׃liv/LI-chatwithout fear

    Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.

26. 26

    אֵת־כׇּל־גָּבֹהַּet-kol-ga/VO/aheverything highיִרְאֶהyir/Ehe beholdsהוּאhuhe isמֶלֶךְME/lekhkingעַל־כׇּל־בְּנֵי־שָׁחַץ׃al-kol-be/NE-SHA/chatsover all the proud beasts

    He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.
