   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredאֱלִיהוּאE/li/HUElihuוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

   שִׁמְעוּshim/Uhearחֲכָמִיםcha/kha/MIMyou wise menמִלָּיmil/LAYmy wordsוְיֹדְעִיםve/yod/IMand you who knowהַאֲזִינוּha/a/ZI/nulistenלִי׃lito me

   Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.

   כִּי־אֹזֶןki-O/zenfor the earמִלִּיןmil/LINwordsתִּבְחָןtiv/CHANtestsוְחֵךְve/CHEKHas the palateיִטְעַםyit/AMtastesלֶאֱכֹל׃le/e/KHOLfood

   For the ear trieth words, as the mouth tasteth meat.

   מִשְׁפָּטmish/PATwhat is rightנִבְחֲרָה־לָּנוּniv/cha/RA-LA/nulet us choose for ourselvesנֵדְעָהned/Alet us knowבֵינֵינוּve/NE/nuamong ourselvesמַה־טּוֹב׃ma-tovwhat is good

   Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

   כִּי־אָמַרki-a/MARfor has saidאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobצָדַקְתִּיtsa/DAK/tiI am righteousוְאֵלve/ELand Godהֵסִירhe/SIRhas taken awayמִשְׁפָּטִי׃mish/pa/TImy right

   For Job hath said, I am righteous: and God hath taken away my judgment.

   עַל־מִשְׁפָּטִיal-mish/pa/TIin spite of my rightאֲכַזֵּבa/khaz/ZEVI am counted a liarאָנוּשׁa/NUSHis incurableחִצִּיchits/TSImy woundבְלִי־פָשַׁע׃ve/LI-FA/shawithout transgression

   Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

   מִי־גֶבֶרmi-GE/verwhat man isכְּאִיּוֹבke/Iy/YOVlike Jobיִשְׁתֶּה־לַּעַגyish/TE-LA/agwho drinks scornכַּמָּיִם׃kam/MA/yimlike water

   What man is like Job, who drinketh up scorning like water?

   וְאָרַחve/a/RACHand goesלְחֶבְרָהle/chev/RAin companyעִם־פֹּעֲלֵיim-PO/a/lewith the workers ofאָוֶןA/veniniquityוְלָלֶכֶתve/la/LE/khetand walksעִם־אַנְשֵׁי־רֶשַׁע׃im-an/SHE-RE/shawith the men of wickedness

   Which goeth in company with the workers of iniquity, and walketh with wicked men.

9. 9

   כִּי־אָמַרki-a/MARfor he has saidלֹאlonoיִסְכׇּן־גָּבֶרyis/KON-GA/vera man profitsבִּרְצֹתוֹbir/tso/TOwhen he takes delightעִם־אֱלֹהִים׃im-e/lo/HIMwith God

   For he hath said, It profiteth a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeאַנְשֵׁיan/SHEyou men ofלֵבָבle/VAVunderstandingשִׁמְעוּ־לִיshim/U-lihear meחָלִלָהcha/LI/lafar be itלָאֵלla/ELfor Godמֵרֶשַׁעme/RE/shato do wickednessוְשַׁדַּיve/Shad/DAYand for the Almightyמֵעָוֶל׃me/A/velto do wrong

    Therefore hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

11. 11

    כִּיkiforפֹעַלFO/althe work ofאָדָםa/DAMmanיְשַׁלֶּם־לוֹye/shal/LEM-loHe repays himוּכְאֹרַחu/khe/O/rachand according to the way ofאִישׁisha manיַמְצִאֶנּוּ׃yam/tsi/EN/nuHe makes befall him

    For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

12. 12

    אַף־אׇמְנָםaf-om/NAMsurely indeedאֵלelGodלֹא־יַרְשִׁיעַlo-yar/SHI/awill not act wickedlyוְשַׁדַּיve/Shad/DAYand the Almightyלֹא־יְעַוֵּתlo-ye/av/VETwill not pervertמִשְׁפָּט׃mish/PATjustice

    Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

13. 13

    מִי־פָקַדmi-fa/KADwho chargedעָלָיוa/LAYVHimאָרְצָהAR/tsawith the earthוּמִיu/MIand whoשָׂםsamhas laid on Himתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldכֻּלָּהּ׃kul/LAwhole

    Who hath given him a charge over the earth? or who hath disposed the whole world?

14. 14

    אִם־יָשִׂיםim-ya/SIMif He should setאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himלִבּוֹlib/BOHis heartרוּחוֹru/CHOhis spiritוְנִשְׁמָתוֹve/nish/ma/TOand his breathאֵלָיוe/LAYVto Himselfיֶאֱסֹף׃ye/e/SOFgather

    If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

15. 15

    יִגְוַעyig/VAwould perishכׇּל־בָּשָׂרkol-ba/SARall fleshיָחַדYA/chadtogetherוְאָדָםve/a/DAMand manעַל־עָפָרal-a/FARto dustיָשׁוּב׃ya/SHUVwould return

    All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

16. 16

    וְאִם־בִּינָהve/IM-BI/naif you have understandingשִׁמְעָה־זֹּאתshim/A-zothear thisהַאֲזִינָהha/a/ZI/nalistenלְקוֹלle/KOLto the sound ofמִלָּי׃mil/LAYmy words

    If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

17. 17

    הַאַףha/AFshall evenשׂוֹנֵאso/NEone who hatesמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjudgmentיַחֲבוֹשׁya/cha/VOSHgovernוְאִם־צַדִּיקve/IM-tsad/DIKand if righteousכַּבִּירkab/BIRand mightyתַּרְשִׁיעַ׃tar/SHI/awill you condemn

    Shall even he that hateth right govern? and wilt thou condemn him that is most just?

18. 18

    הַאֲמֹרha/a/MORdoes one sayלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto a kingבְּלִיָּעַלbe/liy/YA/alworthlessרָשָׁעra/SHAwickedאֶל־נְדִיבִים׃el-ne/di/VIMto the nobles

    Is it fit to say to a king, Thou art wicked? and to princes, Ye are ungodly?

19. 19

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhoלֹא־נָשָׂאlo-na/SAdoes not liftפְּנֵיpe/NEthe face ofשָׂרִיםsa/RIMprincesוְלֹאve/LOand notנִכַּר־שׁוֹעַnik/KAR-SHO/aregard the richלִפְנֵי־דָלlif/NE-dalmore than the poorכִּי־מַעֲשֵׂהki-ma/a/SEfor the work ofיָדָיוya/DAYVHis handsכֻּלָּם׃kul/LAMall of them

    How much less to him that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

20. 20

    רֶגַעRE/gain a momentיָמֻתוּya/MU/tuthey dieוַחֲצוֹתva/cha/TSOTand at midnightלָיְלָהLAY/lanightיְגֹעֲשׁוּye/go/a/SHUare shakenעָםamthe peopleוְיַעֲבֹרוּve/ya/a/VO/ruand pass awayוְיָסִירוּve/ya/SI/ruand are taken awayאַבִּירab/BIRthe mightyלֹאlonotבְיָד׃ve/YADby hand

    In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

21. 21

    כִּי־עֵינָיוki-e/NAYVfor His eyesעַל־דַּרְכֵי־אִישׁal-dar/KHE-ishare on the ways of manוְכׇל־צְעָדָיוve/KHOL-tse/a/DAYVand all his stepsיִרְאֶה׃yir/EHe sees

    For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he seeth all his goings.

22. 22

    אֵין־חֹשֶׁךְen-CHO/shekhthere is no darknessוְאֵיןve/ENnorצַלְמָוֶתtsal/MA/vetshadow of deathלְהִסָּתֶרle/his/SA/terwhere may hideשָׁםshamthereפֹּעֲלֵיPO/a/lethe workers ofאָוֶן׃A/veniniquity

    There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

23. 23

    כִּיkiforלֹאlonotעַל־אִישׁal-ishon a manיָשִׂיםya/SIMdoes He setעוֹדodlongלַהֲלֹךְla/ha/LOKHthat he should goאֶל־אֵלel-elto Godבַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃bam/mish/PATinto judgment

    For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

24. 24

    יָרֹעַya/RO/aHe breaks in piecesכַּבִּירִיםkab/bi/RIMthe mighty onesלֹא־חֵקֶרlo-CHE/kerwithout inquiryוַיַּעֲמֵדvay/ya/a/MEDand setsאֲחֵרִיםa/che/RIMothersתַּחְתָּם׃tach/TAMin their stead

    He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead.

25. 25

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeיַכִּירyak/KIRHe knowsמַעְבָּדֵיהֶםma/ba/de/HEMtheir worksוְהָפַךְve/ha/FAKHand He overturns themלַיְלָהLAY/lain the nightוְיִדַּכָּאוּ׃ve/yid/dak/KA/uand they are crushed

    Therefore he knoweth their works, and he overturneth them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

26. 26

    תַּחַת־רְשָׁעִיםTA/chat-re/sha/IMas the wickedסְפָקָםse/fa/KAMHe strikes themבִּמְקוֹםbim/KOMat the place ofרֹאִים׃ro/IMonlookers

    He striketh them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

27. 27

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERbecauseעַל־כֵּןal-kenthusסָרוּSA/ruthey turned asideמֵאַחֲרָיוme/a/cha/RAYVfrom following Himוְכׇל־דְּרָכָיוve/KHOL-de/ra/KHAYVand any of His waysלֹאlonotהִשְׂכִּילוּ׃his/KI/luthey regarded

    Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

28. 28

    לְהָבִיאle/ha/VIcausing to comeעָלָיוa/LAYVto Himצַעֲקַת־דָּלtsa/a/KAT-dalthe cry of the poorוְצַעֲקַתve/tsa/a/KATand the outcry ofעֲנִיִּיםa/niy/YIMthe afflictedיִשְׁמָע׃yish/MAhe hears

    So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he heareth the cry of the afflicted.

29. 29

    וְהוּאve/HUwhen Heיַשְׁקִטyash/KITgives quietוּמִיu/MIwhoיַרְשִׁעַyar/SHI/acan condemnוְיַסְתֵּרve/yas/TERand when He hidesפָּנִיםpa/NIMHis faceוּמִיu/MIwhoיְשׁוּרֶנּוּye/shu/REN/nucan behold Himוְעַל־גּוֹיve/AL-goywhether over a nationוְעַל־אָדָםve/AL-a/DAMor over a manיָחַד׃YA/chadtogether

    When he giveth quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hideth his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

30. 30

    מִמְּלֹךְmim/me/LOKHthat should not reignאָדָםa/DAMmanחָנֵףcha/NEFthe godlessמִמֹּקְשֵׁיmim/MOK/shelest snares forעָם׃amthe people

    That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

31. 31

    כִּי־אֶל־אֵלki-el-elfor has anyone to Godהֶאָמַרhe/a/MARsaidנָשָׂאתִיna/SA/tiI have borneלֹאlonotאֶחְבֹּל׃ech/BOLI will offend

    Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

32. 32

    בִּלְעֲדֵיbil/a/DEbeyond whatאֶחֱזֶהe/che/ZEI seeאַתָּהat/TAYouהֹרֵנִיho/RE/niteach meאִם־עָוֶלim-A/velif iniquityפָּעַלְתִּיpa/AL/tiI have doneלֹאlonotאֹסִיף׃o/SIFwill I do it again

    That which I see not teach thou me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

33. 33

    הֲמֵעִמְּךָha/me/im/me/KHAshould it be on your termsיְשַׁלְּמֶנָּהye/shal/le/MEN/naHe repays itכִּי־מָאַסְתָּki-ma/AS/tafor you refuseכִּי־אַתָּהki-at/TAfor youתִבְחַרtiv/CHARmust chooseוְלֹא־אָנִיve/LO-A/niand not Iוּמַה־יָּדַעְתָּu/MA-ya/DA/taand what you knowדַבֵּר׃dab/BERspeak

    Should it be according to thy mind? he will recompense it, whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose; and not I: therefore speak what thou knowest.

34. 34

    אַנְשֵׁיan/SHEthe men ofלֵבָבle/VAVunderstandingיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUwill sayלִיlito meוְגֶבֶרve/GE/verand a manחָכָםcha/KHAMwiseשֹׁמֵעַsho/ME/awho hearsלִי׃lito me

    Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

35. 35

    אִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobלֹא־בְדַעַתlo-ve/DA/atwithout knowledgeיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERspeaksוּדְבָרָיוu/de/va/RAYVand his wordsלֹאlonotבְהַשְׂכֵּיל׃ve/has/KELwith insight

    Job hath spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

36. 36

    אָבִיa/VIwould thatיִבָּחֵןyib/ba/CHENwere testedאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobעַד־נֶצַחad-NE/tsachto the endעַל־תְּשֻׁבֹתal-te/shu/VOTfor answeringבְּאַנְשֵׁי־אָוֶן׃be/an/SHE-A/venlike wicked men

    My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

37. 37

    כִּי־יֹסִיףki-yo/SIFfor he addsעַל־חַטָּאתוֹal-chat/ta/TOto his sinפֶשַׁעFE/shatransgressionבֵּינֵינוּbe/NE/nuamong usיִשְׂפּוֹקyis/POKhe clapsוְיֶרֶבve/YE/revand multipliesאֲמָרָיוa/ma/RAYVhis wordsלָאֵל׃la/ELagainst God

    For he addeth rebellion unto his sin, he clappeth his hands among us, and multiplieth his words against God.
