   וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutשְׁמַע־נָאshe/MA-nahear nowאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobמִלָּיmil/LAYmy speechוְכׇל־דְּבָרַיve/KHOL-de/va/RAYand all my wordsהַאֲזִינָה׃ha/a/ZI/nalisten to

   Wherefore, Job, I pray thee, hear my speeches, and hearken to all my words.

2. 2

   הִנֵּה־נָאhin/NE-nabehold nowפָּתַחְתִּיpa/TACH/tiI openפִיfimy mouthדִּבְּרָהdib/be/RAspeaksלְשׁוֹנִיle/sho/NImy tongueבְחִכִּי׃ve/chik/KIin my mouth

   Behold, now I have opened my mouth, my tongue hath spoken in my mouth.

   יֹשֶׁר־לִבִּיYO/sher-lib/BIthe uprightness of my heartאֲמָרָיa/ma/RAYare my wordsוְדַעַתve/DA/atand knowledgeשְׂפָתַיse/fa/TAYmy lipsבָּרוּרba/RURsincerelyמִלֵּלוּ׃mil/LE/luthey speak

   My words shall be of the uprightness of my heart: and my lips shall utter knowledge clearly.

   רוּחַ־אֵלRU/ach-Elthe Spirit of Godעָשָׂתְנִיa/SAT/nihas made meוְנִשְׁמַתve/nish/MATand the breath ofשַׁדַּיShad/DAYthe Almightyתְּחַיֵּנִי׃te/chay/YE/nihas given me life

   The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.

   אִם־תּוּכַלim-tu/KHALif you canהֲשִׁיבֵנִיha/shi/VE/nianswer meעֶרְכָהֿer/KHAset your words in orderלְפָנַיle/fa/NAYbefore meהִתְיַצָּבָה׃hit/yats/TSA/vatake your stand

   If thou canst answer me, set thy words in order before me, stand up.

   הֵן־אֲנִיhen-a/NIbehold Iכְפִיךָkhe/FI/khaam as youלָאֵלla/ELbefore Godמֵחֹמֶרme/CHO/merfrom clayקֹרַצְתִּיko/RATS/tiwas pinched offגַם־אָנִי׃gam-A/niI too

   Behold, I am according to thy wish in God's stead: I also am formed out of the clay.

7. 7

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdאֵמָתִיe/ma/TIfear of meלֹאlonotתְבַעֲתֶךָּte/va/a/TEK/kawill terrify youוְאַכְפִּיve/akh/PInor my pressureעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaupon youלֹא־יִכְבָּד׃lo-yikh/BADwill not be heavy

   Behold, my terror shall not make thee afraid, neither shall my hand be heavy upon thee.

8. 8

   אַךְakhbutאָמַרְתָּa/MAR/tayou have spokenבְאׇזְנָיve/oz/NAYin my earsוְקוֹלve/KOLand the voice ofמִלִּיןmil/LINwordsאֶשְׁמָע׃esh/MAI have heard

   Surely thou hast spoken in mine hearing, and I have heard the voice of thy words, saying,

   זַךְzakhpureאֲנִיa/NIam Iבְּלִי־פָשַׁעbe/LI-FA/shawithout transgressionחַףchafcleanאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIam Iוְלֹאve/LOand notעָוֺןa/VONiniquityלִי׃liis in me

   I am clean without transgression, I am innocent; neither is there iniquity in me.

10. 10

    הֵןhenbeholdתְּנוּאוֹתte/nu/OToccasionsעָלַיa/LAYagainst meיִמְצָאyim/TSAHe findsיַחְשְׁבֵנִיyach/she/VE/niHe counts meלְאוֹיֵבle/o/YEVas an enemyלוֹ׃loto Him

    Behold, he findeth occasions against me, he counteth me for his enemy,

11. 11

    יָשֵׂםya/SEMHe putsבַּסַּדbas/SADin the stocksרַגְלָיrag/LAYmy feetיִשְׁמֹרyish/MORHe watchesכׇּל־אׇרְחֹתָי׃kol-or/cho/TAYall my paths

    He putteth my feet in the stocks, he marketh all my paths.

12. 12

    הֶן־זֹאתhen-zotbehold in thisלֹא־צָדַקְתָּlo-tsa/DAK/tayou are not rightאֶעֱנֶךָּe/e/NEK/kaI will answer youכִּי־יִרְבֶּהki-yir/BEfor is greaterאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodמֵאֱנוֹשׁ׃me/e/NOSHthan man

    Behold, in this thou art not just: I will answer thee, that God is greater than man.

    מַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyאֵלָיוe/LAYVagainst Himרִיבוֹתָri/VO/tado you contendכִּיkiforכׇל־דְּבָרָיוkhol-de/va/RAYVall His mattersלֹאlonotיַעֲנֶה׃ya/a/NEHe answers

    Why dost thou strive against him? for he giveth not account of any of his matters.

14. 14

    כִּי־בְאַחַתki-ve/a/CHATfor onceיְדַבֶּר־אֵלye/dab/BER-elGod speaksוּבִשְׁתַּיִםu/vish/TA/yimand twiceלֹאlonotיְשׁוּרֶנָּה׃ye/shu/REN/naone perceives it

    For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.

15. 15

    בַּחֲלוֹםba/cha/LOMin a dreamחֶזְיוֹןchez/YONin a vision ofלַיְלָהLAY/lanightבִּנְפֹלbin/FOLwhen fallsתַּרְדֵּמָהtar/de/MAdeep sleepעַל־אֲנָשִׁיםal-a/na/SHIMupon menבִּתְנוּמוֹתbit/nu/MOTin slumberעֲלֵיa/LEonמִשְׁכָּב׃mish/KAVthe bed

    In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

16. 16

    אָזazthenיִגְלֶהyig/LEHe opensאֹזֶןO/zenthe ears ofאֲנָשִׁיםa/na/SHIMmenוּבְמֹסָרָםu/ve/mo/sa/RAMand their instructionיַחְתֹּם׃yach/TOMHe seals

    Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,

17. 17

    לְהָסִירle/ha/SIRto turn asideאָדָםa/DAMmanמַעֲשֶׂהma/a/SEfrom his deedוְגֵוָהve/ge/VAand prideמִגֶּבֶרmig/GE/verfrom a manיְכַסֶּה׃ye/khas/SEto hide

    That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.

18. 18

    יַחְשֹׂךְyach/SOKHHe keeps backנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulמִנִּי־שָׁחַתmin/NI-SHA/chatfrom the pitוְחַיָּתוֹve/chay/ya/TOand his lifeמֵעֲבֹרme/a/VORfrom passingבַּשָּׁלַח׃bash/SHA/lachby the sword

    He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.

19. 19

    וְהוּכַחve/hu/KHACHhe is also chastenedבְּמַכְאוֹבbe/makh/OVwith painעַל־מִשְׁכָּבוֹal-mish/ka/VOupon his bed(וריב)varayav[וְרוֹב]ve/ROVand the multitude ofעֲצָמָיוa/tsa/MAYVhis bonesאֵתָן׃e/TANwith constant pain

    He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:

20. 20

    וְזִהֲמַתּוּve/zi/ha/MAT/tuso that loathesחַיָּתוֹchay/ya/TOhis lifeלָחֶםLA/chembreadוְנַפְשׁוֹve/naf/SHOand his soulמַאֲכַלma/a/KHALfood ofתַּאֲוָה׃ta/a/VAdesire

    So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.

21. 21

    יִכֶלYI/khelwastes awayבְּשָׂרוֹbe/sa/ROhis fleshמֵרֹאִיme/RO/ifrom sight[וְשֻׁפּוּ]ve/shup/PUand stick outעַצְמֹתָיוats/mo/TAYVhis bonesלֹאlonotרֻאּוּ׃ru/Useen

    His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.

22. 22

    וַתִּקְרַבvat/tik/RAVand draws nearלַשַּׁחַתlash/SHA/chatto the pitנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulוְחַיָּתוֹve/chay/ya/TOand his lifeלַמְמִתִים׃lam/mi/TIMto the executioners

    Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.

23. 23

    אִם־יֵשׁim-yeshif there isעָלָיוa/LAYVfor himמַלְאָךְmal/AKHan angelמֵלִיץme/LITSan interpreterאֶחָדe/CHADoneמִנִּי־אָלֶףmin/NI-A/lefamong a thousandלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto showלְאָדָםle/a/DAMto manיׇשְׁרוֹ׃yosh/ROhis uprightness

    If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:

24. 24

    וַיְחֻנֶּנּוּvay/chun/NEN/nuthen He is gracious to himוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saysפְּדָעֵהוּpe/da/e/HUdeliver himמֵרֶדֶתme/RE/detfrom going downשָׁחַתSHA/chatto the pitמָצָאתִיma/TSA/tiI have foundכֹפֶר׃KHO/fera ransom

    Then he is gracious unto him, and saith, Deliver him from going down to the pit: I have found a ransom.

25. 25

    רֻטְפַשׁrut/FASHbecomes freshבְּשָׂרוֹbe/sa/ROhis fleshמִנֹּעַרmin/NO/armore than in youthיָשׁוּבya/SHUVhe returnsלִימֵיli/MEto the days ofעֲלוּמָיו׃a/lu/MAYVhis youth

    His flesh shall be fresher than a child's: he shall return to the days of his youth:

26. 26

    יֶעְתַּרye/TARhe praysאֶל־אֱלוֹהַּel-e/LO/ahto Godוַיִּרְצֵהוּvay/yir/TSE/huand He accepts himוַיַּרְאvay/YARand he seesפָּנָיוpa/NAYVHis faceבִּתְרוּעָהbit/ru/Awith shoutingוַיָּשֶׁבvay/YA/shevand He restoresלֶאֱנוֹשׁle/e/NOSHto manצִדְקָתוֹ׃tsid/ka/TOhis righteousness

    He shall pray unto God, and he will be favourable unto him: and he shall see his face with joy: for he will render unto man his righteousness.

27. 27

    יָשֹׁרya/SHORhe singsעַל־אֲנָשִׁיםal-a/na/SHIMupon menוַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saysחָטָאתִיcha/TA/tiI sinnedוְיָשָׁרve/ya/SHARand the rightהֶעֱוֵיתִיhe/e/VE/tiI pervertedוְלֹא־שָׁוָהve/LO-SHA/vaand it was not repaidלִי׃lito me

    He looketh upon men, and if any say, I have sinned, and perverted that which was right, and it profited me not;

28. 28

    פָּדָהpa/DAHe has redeemed(נפשי)nafashay[נַפְשׁוֹ]naf/SHOhis soulמֵעֲבֹרme/a/VORfrom passingבַּשָּׁחַתbash/SHA/chatinto the pit[וְחַיָּתוֹ]ve/chay/ya/TOand his lifeבָּאוֹרba/ORthe lightתִּרְאֶה׃tir/Ewill see

    He will deliver his soul from going into the pit, and his life shall see the light.

29. 29

    הֶן־כׇּל־אֵלֶּהhen-kol-EL/lebehold all theseיִפְעַל־אֵלyif/AL-elGod doesפַּעֲמַיִםpa/a/MA/yimtwiceשָׁלוֹשׁsha/LOSHthree timesעִם־גָּבֶר׃im-GA/verwith a man

    Lo, all these things worketh God oftentimes with man,

30. 30

    לְהָשִׁיבle/ha/SHIVto bring backנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis soulמִנִּי־שָׁחַתmin/NI-SHA/chatfrom the pitלֵאוֹרle/ORto be litבְּאוֹרbe/ORin the light ofהַחַיִּים׃ha/chay/YIMthe living

    To bring back his soul from the pit, to be enlightened with the light of the living.

31. 31

    הַקְשֵׁבhak/SHEVlistenאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobשְׁמַע־לִיshe/MA-lihear meהַחֲרֵשׁha/cha/RESHbe silentוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIyet Iאֲדַבֵּר׃a/dab/BERwill speak

    Mark well, O Job, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I will speak.

32. 32

    אִם־יֵשׁ־מִלִּיןim-yesh-mil/LINif you have wordsהֲשִׁיבֵנִיha/shi/VE/nianswer meדַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakכִּי־חָפַצְתִּיki-cha/FATS/tibecause I desireצַדְּקֶךָּ׃tsad/de/KEK/kato justify you

    If thou hast any thing to say, answer me: speak, for I desire to justify thee.

33. 33

    אִם־אַיִןim-A/yinif notאַתָּהat/TAyouשְׁמַע־לִיshe/MA-lihear meהַחֲרֵשׁha/cha/RESHbe silentוַאֲאַלֶּפְךָva/a/al/lef/KHAand I will teach youחׇכְמָה׃chokh/MAwisdom

    If not, hearken unto me: hold thy peace, and I shall teach thee wisdom.
