Job 32 אִיּוֹב פרק ל״ב

1. 1

   וַיִּשְׁבְּתוּand ceasedשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menהָאֵלֶּהtheseמֵעֲנוֹתfrom answeringאֶת־אִיּוֹבJobכִּיbecauseהוּאheצַדִּיקrighteousבְּעֵינָיו׃in his eyes

   So these three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

2. 2

   וַיִּחַרand burnedאַףthe wrath ofאֱלִיהוּאElihuבֶן־בַּרַכְאֵלson of Barachelהַבּוּזִיthe Buziteמִמִּשְׁפַּחַתof the family ofרָםRamבְּאִיּוֹבon Jobחָרָהburnedאַפּוֹhis wrathעַל־צַדְּקוֹbecause he justifiedנַפְשׁוֹhis soulמֵאֱלֹהִים׃by God

   Then was kindled the wrath of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the kindred of Ram: against Job was his wrath kindled, because he justified himself rather than God.

   וּבִשְׁלֹשֶׁתand on the threeרֵעָיוhis companionsחָרָהburnedאַפּוֹhis wrathעַלuponאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־מָצְאוּnot foundמַעֲנֶהan answerוַיַּרְשִׁיעוּand they had condemned as guiltyאֶת־אִיּוֹב׃Job

   Also against his three friends was his wrath kindled, because they had found no answer, and yet had condemned Job.

   וֶאֱלִיהוּand Elihuחִכָּהhad waitedאֶת־אִיּוֹבJobבִּדְבָרִיםtill had spokenכִּיbecauseזְקֵנִים־הֵמָּהthey were elderמִמֶּנּוּfrom himלְיָמִים׃to days

   Now Elihu had waited till Job had spoken, because they were elder than he.

   וַיַּרְאand sawאֱלִיהוּאElihuכִּי־אֵיןbecause there is noמַעֲנֶהan answerבְּפִיin the mouth ofשְׁלֹשֶׁתthreeהָאֲנָשִׁיםthe menוַיִּחַרand burnedאַפּוֹ׃his wrath

   When Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of these three men, then his wrath was kindled.

   וַיַּעַןand he answeredאֱלִיהוּאElihuבֶן־בַּרַכְאֵלson of Barachelהַבּוּזִיthe Buziteוַיֹּאמַרand saidצָעִירI am youngאֲנִיIלְיָמִיםto daysוְאַתֶּםand youיְשִׁישִׁיםare very oldעַל־כֵּןthereforeזָחַלְתִּיI was afraidוָאִירָאand I fearedמֵחַוֺּתto shewדֵּעִיmine opinionאֶתְכֶם׃you

   And Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, and ye are very old; wherefore I was afraid, and durst not shew you mine opinion.

   אָמַרְתִּיI saidיָמִיםdaysיְדַבֵּרוּshould speakוְרֹבand multitude ofשָׁנִיםyearsיֹדִיעוּshould teachחׇכְמָה׃wisdom

   I said, Days should speak, and multitude of years should teach wisdom.

8. 8

   אָכֵןsurelyרוּחַ־הִיאthere is a spiritבֶאֱנוֹשׁin manוְנִשְׁמַתand the inspiration ofשַׁדַּיAlmightyתְּבִינֵם׃gives them understanding

   But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

9. 9

   לֹא־רַבִּיםgreat men are not alwaysיֶחְכָּמוּwiseוּזְקֵנִיםand eldersיָבִינוּthey might understandמִשְׁפָּט׃judgment

   Great men are not always wise: neither do the aged understand judgment.

10. 10

    לָכֵןthereforeאָמַרְתִּיI saidשִׁמְעָה־לִּיhearken to meאֲחַוֶּהwill I shewדֵעִיmine opinionאַף־אָנִי׃yea I

    Therefore I said, Hearken to me; I also will shew mine opinion.

11. 11

    הֵןbeholdהוֹחַלְתִּיI waitedלְדִבְרֵיכֶםfor your wordsאָזִיןI gave ear toעַד־תְּבוּנֹתֵיכֶםyour reasonsעַד־תַּחְקְרוּןwhilst you searched outמִלִּין׃words

    Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, whilst ye searched out what to say.

12. 12

    וְעָדֵיכֶםyea unto youאֶתְבּוֹנָןI attendedוְהִנֵּהand beholdאֵיןthere is noלְאִיּוֹבJobמוֹכִיחַthat convincedעוֹנֶהor that answeredאֲמָרָיוhis wordsמִכֶּם׃from you

    Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

13. 13

    פֶּן־תֹּאמְרוּlest you sayמָצָאנוּwe have foundחׇכְמָהwisdomאֵלGodיִדְּפֶנּוּthrusts him downלֹא־אִישׁ׃not man

    Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom: God thrusteth him down, not man.

14. 14

    וְלֹא־עָרַךְand he has not directedאֵלַיto meמִלִּיןwordsוּבְאִמְרֵיכֶםand with your wordsלֹאnotאֲשִׁיבֶנּוּ׃I will bring back him

    Now he hath not directed his words against me: neither will I answer him with your speeches.

15. 15

    חַתּוּthey were amazedלֹא־עָנוּthey answered notעוֹדany moreהֶעְתִּיקוּthey left off speakingמֵהֶםof themמִלִּים׃utterance

    They were amazed, they answered no more: they left off speaking.

16. 16

    וְהוֹחַלְתִּיwhen I had waitedכִּי־לֹאthat notיְדַבֵּרוּwill they speakכִּיbecauseעָמְדוּbut stood stillלֹא־עָנוּand answered notעוֹד׃any more

    When I had waited, (for they spake not, but stood still, and answered no more;)

17. 17

    אַעֲנֶהI will answer alsoאַף־אֲנִיyea Iחֶלְקִיmy partאֲחַוֶּהwill I shewדֵעִיmine opinionאַף־אָנִי׃yea I

    I said, I will answer also my part, I also will shew mine opinion.

18. 18

    כִּיforמָלֵתִיI am fullמִלִּיםof matterהֱצִיקַתְנִיconstrains meרוּחַthe spiritבִּטְנִי׃my belly

    For I am full of matter, the spirit within me constraineth me.

19. 19

    הִנֵּה־בִטְנִיbehold my bellyכְּיַיִןis like wineלֹא־יִפָּתֵחַwhich has no ventכְּאֹבוֹתlike bottlesחֲדָשִׁיםnewיִבָּקֵעַ׃it is ready to burst

    Behold, my belly is as wine which hath no vent; it is ready to burst like new bottles.

20. 20

    אֲדַבְּרָהlet me speakוְיִרְוַח־לִיthat I may be refreshedאֶפְתַּחI shall openשְׂפָתַיmy lipsוְאֶעֱנֶה׃so I may answer

    I will speak, that I may be refreshed: I will open my lips and answer.

21. 21

    אַל־נָאlet me not I pray youאֶשָּׂאacceptפְנֵי־אִישׁany man's personוְאֶל־אָדָםand manלֹאnotאֲכַנֶּה׃give flattering titles

    Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person, neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

22. 22

    כִּיforלֹאnotיָדַעְתִּיI knowאֲכַנֶּהto give flattering titlesכִּמְעַטin so doingיִשָּׂאֵנִיwould soon take me awayעֹשֵׂנִי׃my maker

    For I know not to give flattering titles; in so doing my maker would soon take me away.
