Job 30 אִיּוֹב פרק ל׳

1. 1

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowשָׂחֲקוּsa/cha/KUlaughעָלַיa/LAYat meצְעִירִיםtse/i/RIMthose youngerמִמֶּנִּיmim/MEN/nithan Iלְיָמִיםle/ya/MIMin daysאֲשֶׁר־מָאַסְתִּיa/SHER-ma/AS/tiwhom I would have disdainedאֲבוֹתָםa/vo/TAMwhose fathersלָשִׁיתla/SHITto setעִם־כַּלְבֵיim-kal/VEwith the dogs ofצֹאנִי׃tso/NImy flock

   But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

   גַּם־כֹּחַgam-KO/achyes the strength ofיְדֵיהֶםye/de/HEMtheir handsלָמָּהLAM/mawhatלִּיlito meעָלֵימוֹa/LE/moin themאָבַדa/VADhas perishedכָּלַח׃KA/lachvigor

   Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?

3. 3

   בְּחֶסֶרbe/CHE/serthrough wantוּבְכָפָןu/ve/kha/FANand famineגַּלְמוּדgal/MUDgauntהַעֹרְקִיםha/or/KIMthey gnawצִיָּהtsiy/YAthe dry groundאֶמֶשׁE/meshin the gloom ofשׁוֹאָהsho/Adesolationוּמְשֹׁאָה׃u/me/sho/Aand waste

   For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.

   הַקֹּטְפִיםhak/kot/FIMthey pluckמַלּוּחַmal/LU/achsaltwortעֲלֵי־שִׂיחַa/LE-SI/achamong the bushesוְשֹׁרֶשׁve/SHO/reshand the root ofרְתָמִיםre/ta/MIMthe broom treeלַחְמָם׃lach/MAMis their food

   Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat.

   מִן־גֵּוmin-gevfrom the communityיְגֹרָשׁוּye/go/RA/shuthey are driven outיָרִיעוּya/RI/uthey shoutעָלֵימוֹa/LE/moafter themכַּגַּנָּב׃kag/gan/NAVas after a thief

   They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)

   בַּעֲרוּץba/a/RUTSin the gullies ofנְחָלִיםne/cha/LIMthe wadisלִשְׁכֹּןlish/KONthey must dwellחֹרֵיcho/REin holes ofעָפָרa/FARthe earthוְכֵפִים׃ve/khe/FIMand of the rocks

   To dwell in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.

   בֵּין־שִׂיחִיםben-si/CHIMamong bushesיִנְהָקוּyin/HA/kuthey brayתַּחַתTA/chatunderחָרוּלcha/RULnettlesיְסֻפָּחוּ׃ye/sup/PA/chuthey huddle together

   Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.

8. 8

   בְּנֵי־נָבָלbe/NE-na/VALsons of foolsגַּם־בְּנֵיgam-be/NEyes sons ofבְלִי־שֵׁםve/LI-shemno nameנִכְּאוּnik/ke/Uthey were scourgedמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃min-ha/A/retsout of the land

   They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.

9. 9

   וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowנְגִינָתָםne/gi/na/TAMtheir taunt songהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI have becomeוָאֱהִיva/e/HIand I have becomeלָהֶםla/HEMto themלְמִלָּה׃le/mil/LAa byword

   And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

10. 10

    תִּעֲבוּנִיti/a/vu/NIthey abhor meרָחֲקוּra/cha/KUthey flee farמֶנִּיMEN/nifrom meוּמִפָּנַיu/mip/pa/NAYand from before meלֹא־חָשְׂכוּlo-CHAS/khuthey do not withholdרֹק׃rokspit

    They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

11. 11

    כִּי־[יִתְרִי]ki-yit/RIbecause my cord(יתרו)yataravפִתַּחfit/TACHHe has loosedוַיְעַנֵּנִיvay/an/NE/niand afflicted meוְרֶסֶןve/RE/senand the bridleמִפָּנַיmip/pa/NAYbefore meשִׁלֵּחוּ׃shil/LE/chuthey have cast off

    Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.

12. 12

    עַל־יָמִיןal-ya/MINon my rightפִּרְחַחpir/CHACHthe rabbleיָקוּמוּya/KU/muriseרַגְלַיrag/LAYmy feetשִׁלֵּחוּshil/LE/chuthey push awayוַיָּסֹלּוּvay/ya/SOL/luand they build upעָלַיa/LAYagainst meאׇרְחוֹתor/CHOTtheir ways ofאֵידָם׃e/DAMruin

    Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

13. 13

    נָתְסוּna/te/SUthey break upנְתִיבָתִיne/ti/va/TImy pathלְהַוָּתִיle/hav/va/TImy destructionיֹעִילוּyo/I/luthey promoteלֹאlonoעֹזֵרo/ZERhelperלָמוֹ׃LA/mofor them

    They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.

14. 14

    כְּפֶרֶץke/FE/retsas through a breachרָחָבra/CHAVwideיֶאֱתָיוּye/e/TA/yuthey comeתַּחַתTA/chatamidשֹׁאָהsho/Athe crashהִתְגַּלְגָּלוּ׃hit/gal/GA/luthey roll on

    They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

15. 15

    הׇהְפַּךְhoh/PAKHare turnedעָלַיa/LAYupon meבַּלָּהוֹתbal/la/HOTterrorsתִּרְדֹּףtir/DOFthey pursueכָּרוּחַka/RU/achlike the windנְדִבָתִיne/di/va/TImy honorוּכְעָבu/khe/AVand like a cloudעָבְרָהa/ve/RAhas passed awayיְשֻׁעָתִי׃ye/shu/a/TImy prosperity

    Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.

16. 16

    וְעַתָּהve/at/TAand nowעָלַיa/LAYwithin meתִּשְׁתַּפֵּךְtish/tap/PEKHis poured outנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulיֹאחֲזוּנִיyo/cha/ZU/nihave seized meיְמֵי־עֹנִי׃ye/ME-O/nithe days of affliction

    And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

17. 17

    לַיְלָהLAY/laby nightעֲצָמַיa/tsa/MAYmy bonesנִקַּרnik/KARpiercesמֵעָלָיme/a/LAYfrom meוְעֹרְקַיve/or/KAYand my gnawing painsלֹאlonotיִשְׁכָּבוּן׃yish/ka/VUNrest

    My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

18. 18

    בְּרׇב־כֹּחַbe/ROV-KO/achby great forceיִתְחַפֵּשׂyit/chap/PESis disfiguredלְבוּשִׁיle/vu/SHImy garmentכְּפִיke/FIlike the collar ofכֻתׇּנְתִּיkhut/ton/TImy tunicיַאַזְרֵנִי׃ya/az/RE/niit girds me

    By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.

19. 19

    הֹרָנִיho/RA/niHe has cast meלַחֹמֶרla/CHO/merinto the mireוָאֶתְמַשֵּׁלva/et/mash/SHELand I have becomeכֶּעָפָרke/a/FARlike dustוָאֵפֶר׃va/E/ferand ashes

    He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.

20. 20

    אֲשַׁוַּעa/shav/VAI cry for helpאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khato Youוְלֹאve/LOand notתַעֲנֵנִיta/a/NE/niYou answer meעָמַדְתִּיa/MAD/tiI standוַתִּתְבֹּנֶןvat/tit/BO/nenand You only lookבִּי׃biat me

    I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.

21. 21

    תֵּהָפֵךְte/ha/FEKHYou have turnedלְאַכְזָרle/akh/ZARcruelלִיlito meבְּעֹצֶםbe/O/tsemwith the might ofיָדְךָya/de/KHAYour handתִשְׂטְמֵנִי׃tis/te/ME/niYou persecute me

    Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.

22. 22

    תִּשָּׂאֵנִיtis/sa/E/niYou lift me upאֶל־רוּחַel-RU/achto the windתַּרְכִּיבֵנִיtar/ki/VE/niYou make me rideוּתְמֹגְגֵנִיu/te/mog/GE/niand You dissolve me(תשוה)tashavah[תּוּשִׁיָּה]׃tu/shiy/YAsubstance

    Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.

23. 23

    כִּי־יָדַעְתִּיki-ya/DA/tifor I knowמָוֶתMA/vetto deathתְּשִׁיבֵנִיte/shi/VE/niYou will bring meוּבֵיתu/VETand the houseמוֹעֵדmo/EDappointedלְכׇל־חָי׃le/KHOL-chayfor all living

    For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

24. 24

    אַךְakhyetלֹא־בְעִיlo-ve/Isurely not against a ruinיִשְׁלַח־יָדyish/LACH-yaddoes one stretch out a handאִם־בְּפִידוֹim-be/fi/DOif in his disasterלָהֶןla/HENfor thisשׁוּעַ׃SHU/aa cry for help

    Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.

25. 25

    אִם־לֹאim-lodid notבָכִיתִיva/khi/TII weepלִקְשֵׁה־יוֹםlik/SHE-yomfor him whose day was hardעָגְמָהa/ge/MAwas grievedנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulלָאֶבְיוֹן׃la/ev/YONfor the needy

    Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?

26. 26

    כִּיkiyetטוֹבtovgoodקִוִּיתִיkiv/VI/tiI hoped forוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameרָעraevilוַאֲיַחֲלָהva/a/ya/cha/LAand I waitedלְאוֹרle/ORfor lightוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VOand cameאֹפֶל׃O/feldarkness

    When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.

27. 27

    מֵעַיme/AYmy inward partsרֻתְּחוּrut/te/CHUboilוְלֹא־דָמּוּve/LO-DAM/muand are not stillקִדְּמֻנִיkid/de/MU/niconfront meיְמֵי־עֹנִי׃ye/ME-O/nithe days of affliction

    My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.

28. 28

    קֹדֵרko/DERdarkenedהִלַּכְתִּיhil/LAKH/tiI goבְּלֹאbe/LOwithoutחַמָּהcham/MAthe sunקַמְתִּיKAM/tiI stand upבַקָּהָלvak/ka/HALin the assemblyאֲשַׁוֵּעַ׃a/shav/VE/aI cry out for help

    I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.

29. 29

    אָחacha brotherהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasלְתַנִּיםle/tan/NIMto jackalsוְרֵעַve/RE/aand a companionלִבְנוֹתliv/NOTto daughters ofיַעֲנָה׃ya/a/NAthe ostrich

    I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

30. 30

    עוֹרִיo/RImy skinשָׁחַרSHA/charturns blackמֵעָלָיme/a/LAYfrom meוְעַצְמִי־חָרָהve/ats/MI-CHA/raand my bones burnמִנִּי־חֹרֶב׃min/NI-CHO/revwith heat

    My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

31. 31

    וַיְהִיvay/HIand has becomeלְאֵבֶלle/E/velmourningכִּנֹּרִיkin/no/RImy lyreוְעֻגָבִיve/u/ga/VIand my pipeלְקוֹלle/KOLthe sound ofבֹּכִים׃bo/KHIMthose who weep

    My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.
