Job 30 אִיּוֹב פרק ל׳

1. 1

   וְעַתָּהand nowשָׂחֲקוּhave me in derisionעָלַיupon meצְעִירִיםthey that are youngerמִמֶּנִּיfrom meלְיָמִיםin daysאֲשֶׁר־מָאַסְתִּיwhose I would have disdainedאֲבוֹתָםtheir fathersלָשִׁיתto have setעִם־כַּלְבֵיwith the dogs ofצֹאנִי׃my flocks

   But now they that are younger than I have me in derision, whose fathers I would have disdained to have set with the dogs of my flock.

2. 2

   גַּם־כֹּחַyea whereto the strength ofיְדֵיהֶםtheir handsלָמָּהmight profit meלִּיto meעָלֵימוֹon themאָבַדperishedכָּלַח׃old age

   Yea, whereto might the strength of their hands profit me, in whom old age was perished?

3. 3

   בְּחֶסֶרfor wantוּבְכָפָןand famineגַּלְמוּדthey were solitaryהַעֹרְקִיםfleeing intoצִיָּהthe wildernessאֶמֶשׁin former timeשׁוֹאָהdesolateוּמְשֹׁאָה׃and waste

   For want and famine they were solitary; fleeing into the wilderness in former time desolate and waste.

4. 4

   הַקֹּטְפִיםthe ones who pluck offמַלּוּחַmallowעֲלֵי־שִׂיחַby the bushesוְשֹׁרֶשׁand the root ofרְתָמִיםjuniperלַחְמָם׃for their meat

   Who cut up mallows by the bushes, and juniper roots for their meat.

5. 5

   מִן־גֵּוfrom among menיְגֹרָשׁוּthey were driven forthיָרִיעוּthey cried afterעָלֵימוֹon themכַּגַּנָּב׃like the thief

   They were driven forth from among men, (they cried after them as after a thief;)

6. 6

   בַּעֲרוּץin the clifts ofנְחָלִיםthe valleysלִשְׁכֹּןto dwellחֹרֵיin caves ofעָפָרthe earthוְכֵפִים׃and rocks

   To dwell in the clifts of the valleys, in caves of the earth, and in the rocks.

7. 7

   בֵּין־שִׂיחִיםamong bushesיִנְהָקוּthey brayתַּחַתunderחָרוּלnettlesיְסֻפָּחוּ׃they were gathered together

   Among the bushes they brayed; under the nettles they were gathered together.

8. 8

   בְּנֵי־נָבָלchildren of foolsגַּם־בְּנֵיalso sons ofבְלִי־שֵׁםof base menנִכְּאוּthey were vilerמִן־הָאָרֶץ׃from the land

   They were children of fools, yea, children of base men: they were viler than the earth.

9. 9

   וְעַתָּהand nowנְגִינָתָםtheir songהָיִיתִיI wasוָאֱהִיand I wasלָהֶםto themלְמִלָּה׃their byword

   And now am I their song, yea, I am their byword.

10. 10

    תִּעֲבוּנִיthey abhor meרָחֲקוּthey flee farמֶנִּיfrom meוּמִפָּנַיand from before meלֹא־חָשְׂכוּspare notרֹק׃to spit

    They abhor me, they flee far from me, and spare not to spit in my face.

11. 11

    כִּי־[יִתְרִי]because my cord(יתרו)פִתַּחhe has loosedוַיְעַנֵּנִיand he has afflicted meוְרֶסֶןand the bridleמִפָּנַיfrom my faceשִׁלֵּחוּ׃they let go

    Because he hath loosed my cord, and afflicted me, they have also let loose the bridle before me.

12. 12

    עַל־יָמִיןupon right handפִּרְחַחthe youthיָקוּמוּriseרַגְלַיmy feetשִׁלֵּחוּthey push awayוַיָּסֹלּוּand they raise upעָלַיupon meאׇרְחוֹתthe paths ofאֵידָם׃their disaster

    Upon my right hand rise the youth; they push away my feet, and they raise up against me the ways of their destruction.

13. 13

    נָתְסוּthey marנְתִיבָתִיmy pathwayלְהַוָּתִיmy calamityיֹעִילוּthey set forwardלֹאnotעֹזֵרhelperלָמוֹ׃for them

    They mar my path, they set forward my calamity, they have no helper.

14. 14

    כְּפֶרֶץas a breaking inרָחָבwideיֶאֱתָיוּthey will comeתַּחַתunderשֹׁאָהthe desolationהִתְגַּלְגָּלוּ׃they have rolled themselves

    They came upon me as a wide breaking in of waters: in the desolation they rolled themselves upon me.

15. 15

    הׇהְפַּךְare turnedעָלַיupon meבַּלָּהוֹתterrorsתִּרְדֹּףthey pursueכָּרוּחַlike the windנְדִבָתִיmy soulוּכְעָבand as a cloudעָבְרָהhad passed awayיְשֻׁעָתִי׃my welfare

    Terrors are turned upon me: they pursue my soul as the wind: and my welfare passeth away as a cloud.

16. 16

    וְעַתָּהand nowעָלַיupon meתִּשְׁתַּפֵּךְis poured outנַפְשִׁיmy lifeיֹאחֲזוּנִיhave taken hold upon meיְמֵי־עֹנִי׃the days of affliction

    And now my soul is poured out upon me; the days of affliction have taken hold upon me.

17. 17

    לַיְלָהnightעֲצָמַיmy bonesנִקַּרare piercedמֵעָלָיfrom meוְעֹרְקַיand my sinewsלֹאnotיִשְׁכָּבוּן׃take no rest

    My bones are pierced in me in the night season: and my sinews take no rest.

18. 18

    בְּרׇב־כֹּחַby the great forceיִתְחַפֵּשׂis changedלְבוּשִׁיmy clothingכְּפִיas the collar ofכֻתׇּנְתִּיmy tunicיַאַזְרֵנִי׃it binds me about

    By the great force of my disease is my garment changed: it bindeth me about as the collar of my coat.

19. 19

    הֹרָנִיhe has cast meלַחֹמֶרto mortarוָאֶתְמַשֵּׁלand I have become likeכֶּעָפָרlike the dustוָאֵפֶר׃and ashes

    He hath cast me into the mire, and I am become like dust and ashes.

20. 20

    אֲשַׁוַּעI cry for helpאֵלֶיךָto youוְלֹאand notתַעֲנֵנִיyou do not hear meעָמַדְתִּיI stoodוַתִּתְבֹּנֶןand you regard me notבִּי׃me

    I cry unto thee, and thou dost not hear me: I stand up, and thou regardest me not.

21. 21

    תֵּהָפֵךְyou are becomeלְאַכְזָרcruelלִיto meבְּעֹצֶםwith your strongיָדְךָyour handתִשְׂטְמֵנִי׃you oppose yourself against me

    Thou art become cruel to me: with thy strong hand thou opposest thyself against me.

22. 22

    תִּשָּׂאֵנִיyou lift up meאֶל־רוּחַto the windתַּרְכִּיבֵנִיyou make ride meוּתְמֹגְגֵנִיand you dissolve me(תשוה)[תּוּשִׁיָּה]׃my substance

    Thou liftest me up to the wind; thou causest me to ride upon it, and dissolvest my substance.

23. 23

    כִּי־יָדַעְתִּיbecause I knowמָוֶתdeathתְּשִׁיבֵנִיyou will bring meוּבֵיתand house ofמוֹעֵדappointedלְכׇל־חָי׃to all alive

    For I know that thou wilt bring me to death, and to the house appointed for all living.

24. 24

    אַךְbutלֹא־בְעִיhe will not stretch outיִשְׁלַח־יָדhis hand to the graveאִם־בְּפִידוֹthough in his destructionלָהֶןfor themשׁוּעַ׃they cry

    Howbeit he will not stretch out his hand to the grave, though they cry in his destruction.

25. 25

    אִם־לֹאif notבָכִיתִיdid I weepלִקְשֵׁה־יוֹםfor him that was in troubleעָגְמָהwas grievedנַפְשִׁיmy lifeלָאֶבְיוֹן׃for the needy person

    Did not I weep for him that was in trouble? was not my soul grieved for the poor?

26. 26

    כִּיbecauseטוֹבgoodקִוִּיתִיI had hopedוַיָּבֹאand cameרָעevilוַאֲיַחֲלָהand I waitedלְאוֹרto lightוַיָּבֹאand cameאֹפֶל׃darkness

    When I looked for good, then evil came unto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkness.

27. 27

    מֵעַיmy bowelsרֻתְּחוּboiledוְלֹא־דָמּוּand rested notקִדְּמֻנִיprevented meיְמֵי־עֹנִי׃the days of affliction

    My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.

28. 28

    קֹדֵרmourningהִלַּכְתִּיI wentבְּלֹאwithoutחַמָּהthe sunקַמְתִּיI stood upבַקָּהָלin the assemblyאֲשַׁוֵּעַ׃I cry out for help

    I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation.

29. 29

    אָחa brotherהָיִיתִיI wasלְתַנִּיםto dragonsוְרֵעַand a companionלִבְנוֹתto daughters ofיַעֲנָה׃the owl

    I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls.

30. 30

    עוֹרִיmy skinשָׁחַרis blackמֵעָלָיfrom meוְעַצְמִי־חָרָהand my bones are burnedמִנִּי־חֹרֶב׃with heat

    My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat.

31. 31

    וַיְהִיand it came to passלְאֵבֶלis turned to mourningכִּנֹּרִיmy harpוְעֻגָבִיand my organלְקוֹלthe voice ofבֹּכִים׃weeping

    My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep.
