Job 29 אִיּוֹב פרק כ״ט

   וַיֹּסֶףvay/YO/sefand continuedאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobשְׂאֵתse/ETto take upמְשָׁלוֹme/sha/LOhis discourseוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,

   מִי־יִתְּנֵנִיmi-yit/te/NE/nioh that I wereכְיַרְחֵי־קֶדֶםkhe/yar/CHE-KE/demas in the months of oldכִּימֵיki/MEas in the days whenאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodיִשְׁמְרֵנִי׃yish/me/RE/niwatched over me

   Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;

   בְּהִלּוֹbe/hil/LOwhen shoneנֵרוֹne/ROHis lampעֲלֵיa/LEonרֹאשִׁיro/SHImy headלְאוֹרוֹle/o/ROby His lightאֵלֶךְE/lekhI walked throughחֹשֶׁךְ׃CHO/shekhdarkness

   When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;

   כַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERasהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasבִּימֵיbi/MEin the days ofחׇרְפִּיchor/PImy primeבְּסוֹדbe/SODwhen the friendship ofאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodעֲלֵיa/LEonאׇהֳלִי׃o/ho/LImy tent

   As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;

   בְּעוֹדbe/ODwhile yetשַׁדַּיShad/DAYthe Almighty wasעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meסְבִיבוֹתַיse/vi/vo/TAYwere around meנְעָרָי׃ne/a/RAYmy children

   When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;

   בִּרְחֹץbir/CHOTSwhen I washedהֲלִיכַיha/li/KHAYmy stepsבְּחֵמָהbe/che/MAwith butterוְצוּרve/TSURand the rockיָצוּקya/TSUKpoured outעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIfor meפַּלְגֵי־שָׁמֶן׃pal/GE-SHA/menrivers of oil

   When I washed my steps with butter, and the rock poured me out rivers of oil;

   בְּצֵאתִיbe/tse/TIwhen I went outשַׁעַרSHA/arto the gateעֲלֵי־קָרֶתa/LE-KA/retby the cityבָּרְחוֹבba/re/CHOVin the open squareאָכִיןa/KHINI setמוֹשָׁבִי׃mo/sha/VImy seat

   When I went out to the gate through the city, when I prepared my seat in the street!

   רָאוּנִיra/U/nithey saw meנְעָרִיםne/a/RIMthe young menוְנֶחְבָּאוּve/nech/BA/uand withdrewוִישִׁישִׁיםvi/shi/SHIMand the agedקָמוּKA/muroseעָמָדוּ׃a/MA/dustood

   The young men saw me, and hid themselves: and the aged arose, and stood up.

   שָׂרִיםsa/RIMprincesעָצְרוּa/tse/RUrefrained fromבְמִלִּיםve/mil/LIMtalkingוְכַףve/KHAFand a handיָשִׂימוּya/SI/muthey laidלְפִיהֶם׃le/fi/HEMon their mouth

   The princes refrained talking, and laid their hand on their mouth.

    קוֹל־נְגִידִיםkol-ne/gi/DIMthe voice of the noblesנֶחְבָּאוּnech/BA/uwas hushedוּלְשׁוֹנָםu/le/sho/NAMand their tongueלְחִכָּםle/chik/KAMto their palateדָּבֵקָה׃da/VE/kaclung

    The nobles held their peace, and their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

    כִּיkiforאֹזֶןO/zenthe earשָׁמְעָהsha/me/Aheardוַתְּאַשְּׁרֵנִיvat/te/ash/she/RE/niand called me blessedוְעַיִןve/A/yinand the eyeרָאֲתָהra/a/TAsawוַתְּעִידֵנִי׃vat/te/i/DE/niand bore witness to me

    When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; and when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me:

    כִּי־אֲמַלֵּטki-a/mal/LETfor I deliveredעָנִיa/NIthe poorמְשַׁוֵּעַme/shav/VE/awho cried for helpוְיָתוֹםve/ya/TOMand the fatherlessוְלֹא־עֹזֵרve/LO-o/ZERand none to helpלוֹ׃lohim

    Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him.

    בִּרְכַּתbir/KATthe blessing ofאֹבֵדo/VEDone perishingעָלַיa/LAYon meתָּבֹאta/VOcameוְלֵבve/LEVand the heart ofאַלְמָנָהal/ma/NAthe widowאַרְנִן׃ar/NINI made sing

    The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

14. 14

    צֶדֶקTSE/dekrighteousnessלָבַשְׁתִּיla/vash/TII put onוַיִּלְבָּשֵׁנִיvay/yil/ba/SHE/niand it clothed meכִּמְעִילkim/ILas a robeוְצָנִיףve/tsa/NIFand a turbanמִשְׁפָּטִי׃mish/pa/TIwas my justice

    I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

15. 15

    עֵינַיִםe/NA/yimeyesהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI wasלַעִוֵּרla/iv/VERto the blindוְרַגְלַיִםve/rag/LA/yimand feetלַפִּסֵּחַlap/pis/SE/achto the lameאָנִי׃A/niwas I

    I was eyes to the blind, and feet was I to the lame.

16. 16

    אָבava fatherאָנֹכִיa/no/KHII wasלָאֶבְיוֹנִיםla/ev/yo/NIMto the needyוְרִבve/RIVand the case ofלֹא־יָדַעְתִּיlo-ya/DA/tihim I did not knowאֶחְקְרֵהוּ׃ech/ke/RE/huI searched out

    I was a father to the poor: and the cause which I knew not I searched out.

17. 17

    וָאֲשַׁבְּרָהva/a/shab/be/RAand I brokeמְתַלְּעוֹתme/tal/le/OTthe fangs ofעַוָּלav/VALthe unrighteousוּמִשִּׁנָּיוu/mish/shin/NAYVand from his teethאַשְׁלִיךְash/LIKHI made dropטָרֶף׃TA/refthe prey

    And I brake the jaws of the wicked, and plucked the spoil out of his teeth.

18. 18

    וָאֹמַרva/o/MARand I saidעִם־קִנִּיim-kin/NIin my nestאֶגְוָעeg/VAI shall dieוְכַחוֹלve/kha/CHOLand like the sandאַרְבֶּהar/BEI shall multiplyיָמִים׃ya/MIMmy days

    Then I said, I shall die in my nest, and I shall multiply my days as the sand.

19. 19

    שׇׁרְשִׁיshor/SHImy rootפָתוּחַfa/TU/achspread outאֱלֵי־מָיִםe/LE-MA/yimto the watersוְטַלve/TALand the dewיָלִיןya/LINlies all nightבִּקְצִירִי׃bik/tsi/RIon my branch

    My root was spread out by the waters, and the dew lay all night upon my branch.

20. 20

    כְּבוֹדִיke/vo/DImy gloryחָדָשׁcha/DASHis freshעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meוְקַשְׁתִּיve/kash/TIand my bowבְּיָדִיbe/ya/DIin my handתַחֲלִיף׃ta/cha/LIFis renewed

    My glory was fresh in me, and my bow was renewed in my hand.

21. 21

    לִי־שָׁמְעוּli-sha/me/Uto me they listenedוְיִחֵלּוּve/yi/CHEL/luand waitedוְיִדְּמוּve/yid/de/MUand kept silentלְמוֹle/MOforעֲצָתִי׃a/tsa/TImy counsel

    Unto me men gave ear, and waited, and kept silence at my counsel.

22. 22

    אַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterדְבָרִיde/va/RImy wordsלֹאlonotיִשְׁנוּyish/NUthey spoke againוְעָלֵימוֹve/a/LE/moand upon themתִּטֹּףtit/TOFdroppedמִלָּתִי׃mil/la/TImy word

    After my words they spake not again; and my speech dropped upon them.

23. 23

    וְיִחֲלוּve/yi/cha/LUand they waitedכַמָּטָרkham/ma/TARas for the rainלִיlifor meוּפִיהֶםu/fi/HEMand their mouthפָּעֲרוּpa/a/RUthey openedלְמַלְקוֹשׁ׃le/mal/KOSHas for the spring rain

    And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.

24. 24

    אֶשְׂחַקes/CHAKI laughedאֲלֵהֶםa/le/HEMon themלֹאlonotיַאֲמִינוּya/a/MI/nuthey believedוְאוֹרve/ORand the light ofפָּנַיpa/NAYmy faceלֹאlonotיַפִּילוּן׃yap/pi/LUNthey cast down

    If I laughed on them, they believed it not; and the light of my countenance they cast not down.

25. 25

    אֶבְחַרev/CHARI choseדַּרְכָּםdar/KAMtheir wayוְאֵשֵׁבve/e/SHEVand satרֹאשׁroshas chiefוְאֶשְׁכּוֹןve/esh/KONand dweltכְּמֶלֶךְke/ME/lekhas a kingבַּגְּדוּדbag/ge/DUDamong the troopsכַּאֲשֶׁרka/a/SHERas one whoאֲבֵלִיםa/ve/LIMthe mournersיְנַחֵם׃ye/na/CHEMcomforts

    I chose out their way, and sat chief, and dwelt as a king in the army, as one that comforteth the mourners.
