Job 28 אִיּוֹב פרק כ״ח

   כִּיkisurelyיֵשׁyeshthere isלַכֶּסֶףlak/KE/seffor the silverמוֹצָאmo/TSAa veinוּמָקוֹםu/ma/KOMand a placeלַזָּהָבlaz/za/HAVfor goldיָזֹקּוּ׃ya/ZOK/kuthat they refine

   Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold where they fine it.

2. 2

   בַּרְזֶלbar/ZELironמֵעָפָרme/a/FARfrom the dustיֻקָּחyuk/KACHshall be takenוְאֶבֶןve/E/venand from the stoneיָצוּקya/TSUKis smeltedנְחוּשָׁה׃ne/chu/SHAbronze

   Iron is taken out of the earth, and brass is molten out of the stone.

   קֵץketsan endשָׂםsamman putsלַחֹשֶׁךְla/CHO/shekhto darknessוּלְכׇל־תַּכְלִיתu/le/KHOL-takh/LITand to every limitהוּאhuheחוֹקֵרcho/KERsearches outאֶבֶןE/venthe stone ofאֹפֶלO/feldarknessוְצַלְמָוֶת׃ve/tsal/MA/vetand the shadow of death

   He setteth an end to darkness, and searcheth out all perfection: the stones of darkness, and the shadow of death.

   פָּרַץpa/RATShe breaks openנַחַלNA/chala shaftמֵעִם־גָּרme/IM-garaway from where men liveהַנִּשְׁכָּחִיםhan/nish/ka/CHIMforgottenמִנִּי־רָגֶלmin/NI-RA/gelby the footדַּלּוּdal/LUthey hangמֵאֱנוֹשׁme/e/NOSHfar from menנָעוּ׃na/Uthey swing

   The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.

   אֶרֶץE/retsthe earthמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itיֵצֵא־לָחֶםye/TSE-LA/chemcomes breadוְתַחְתֶּיהָve/tach/TE/haand under itנֶהְפַּךְneh/PAKHis overturnedכְּמוֹ־אֵשׁ׃ke/MO-eshlike fire

   As for the earth, out of it cometh bread: and under it is turned up as it were fire.

   מְקוֹם־סַפִּירme/KOM-sap/PIRthe place of sapphireאֲבָנֶיהָa/va/NE/haits stones areוְעַפְרֹתve/af/ROTand dust ofזָהָבza/HAVgoldלוֹ׃loit has

   The stones of it are the place of sapphires: and it hath dust of gold.

   נָתִיבna/TIVa pathלֹא־יְדָעוֹlo-ye/DA/ono knowsעָיִטA/yitbird of preyוְלֹאve/LOand notשְׁזָפַתּוּshe/za/FAT/tuhas seen itעֵיןenthe eye ofאַיָּה׃ay/YAthe falcon

   There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture's eye hath not seen:

   לֹא־הִדְרִיכוּהוּlo-hid/ri/KHU/huhave not trodden itבְנֵי־שָׁחַץve/NE-SHA/chatsthe proud beastsלֹא־עָדָהlo-a/DAnor has passedעָלָיוa/LAYVover itשָׁחַל׃SHA/chalthe lion

   The lion's whelps have not trodden it, nor the fierce lion passed by it.

   בַּחַלָּמִישׁba/chal/la/MISHon the flintשָׁלַחsha/LACHhe puts forthיָדוֹya/DOhis handהָפַךְha/FAKHhe overturnsמִשֹּׁרֶשׁmish/SHO/reshby the rootsהָרִים׃ha/RIMmountains

   He putteth forth his hand upon the rock; he overturneth the mountains by the roots.

    בַּצּוּרוֹתbats/tsu/ROTin the rocksיְאֹרִיםye/o/RIMchannelsבִּקֵּעַbik/KE/ahe cutsוְכׇל־יְקָרve/KHOL-ye/KARand every precious thingרָאֲתָהra/a/TAhas seenעֵינוֹ׃e/NOhis eye

    He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing.

11. 11

    מִבְּכִיmib/be/KHIfrom tricklingנְהָרוֹתne/ha/ROTthe streamsחִבֵּשׁchib/BESHhe dams upוְתַעֲלֻמָהּve/ta/a/lu/MAand the hidden thingיֹצִאYO/tsihe brings outאוֹר׃orto light

    He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

12. 12

    וְהַחׇכְמָהve/ha/chokh/MAbut wisdomמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereתִּמָּצֵאtim/ma/TSEwill it be foundוְאֵיve/Eand whereזֶהzeisמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofבִּינָה׃bi/NAunderstanding

    But where shall wisdom be found? and where is the place of understanding?

13. 13

    לֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdoes not knowאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanעֶרְכָּהּer/KAits worthוְלֹאve/LOand notתִמָּצֵאtim/ma/TSEis it foundבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofהַחַיִּים׃ha/chay/YIMthe living

    Man knoweth not the price thereof; neither is it found in the land of the living.

14. 14

    תְּהוֹםte/HOMthe depthאָמַרa/MARsaysלֹאlonotבִי־הִיאvi-hiin me is itוְיָםve/YAMand the seaאָמַרa/MARsaysאֵיןenit is notעִמָּדִי׃im/ma/DIwith me

    The depth saith, It is not in me: and the sea saith, It is not with me.

15. 15

    לֹא־יֻתַּןlo-yut/TANcannot be givenסְגוֹרse/GORgoldתַּחְתֶּיהָtach/TE/hafor itוְלֹאve/LOand notיִשָּׁקֵלyish/sha/KELbe weighedכֶּסֶףKE/sefsilver asמְחִירָהּ׃me/chi/RAits price

    It cannot be gotten for gold, neither shall silver be weighed for the price thereof.

16. 16

    לֹא־תְסֻלֶּהlo-te/sul/LEit cannot be valuedבְּכֶתֶםbe/KHE/temin the gold ofאוֹפִירO/FIROphirבְּשֹׁהַםbe/SHO/hamin onyxיָקָרya/KARpreciousוְסַפִּיר׃ve/sap/PIRand sapphire

    It cannot be valued with the gold of Ophir, with the precious onyx, or the sapphire.

17. 17

    לֹא־יַעַרְכֶנָּהlo-ya/ar/KHEN/nacannot equal itזָהָבza/HAVgoldוּזְכוֹכִיתu/ze/kho/KHITand glassוּתְמוּרָתָהּu/te/mu/ra/TAnor its exchangeכְּלִי־פָז׃ke/LI-fazvessels of fine gold

    The gold and the crystal cannot equal it: and the exchange of it shall not be for jewels of fine gold.

18. 18

    רָאמוֹתra/MOTcoralוְגָבִישׁve/ga/VISHand crystalלֹאlonotיִזָּכֵרyiz/za/KHERbe mentionedוּמֶשֶׁךְu/ME/shekhand the acquisition ofחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomמִפְּנִינִים׃mip/pe/ni/NIMis above rubies

    No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls: for the price of wisdom is above rubies.

19. 19

    לֹא־יַעַרְכֶנָּהlo-ya/ar/KHEN/nacannot equal itפִּטְדַת־כּוּשׁpit/DAT-Kushthe topaz of Cushבְּכֶתֶםbe/KHE/temin the gold ofטָהוֹרta/HORpureלֹאlonotתְסֻלֶּה׃te/sul/LEcan it be valued

    The topaz of Ethiopia shall not equal it, neither shall it be valued with pure gold.

20. 20

    וְהַחׇכְמָהve/ha/chokh/MAbut wisdomמֵאַיִןme/A/yinfrom whereתָּבוֹאta/VOcomesוְאֵיve/Eand whereזֶהzeisמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofבִּינָה׃bi/NAunderstanding

    Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?

21. 21

    וְנֶעֶלְמָהve/ne/el/MAand it is hiddenמֵעֵינֵיme/e/NEfrom the eyes ofכׇל־חָיkhol-chayall livingוּמֵעוֹףu/me/OFand from the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensנִסְתָּרָה׃nis/TA/raconcealed

    Seeing it is hid from the eyes of all living, and kept close from the fowls of the air.

22. 22

    אֲבַדּוֹןa/vad/DONdestructionוָמָוֶתva/MA/vetand deathאָמְרוּa/me/RUsayבְּאׇזְנֵינוּbe/oz/NE/nuin our earsשָׁמַעְנוּsha/MA/nuwe heardשִׁמְעָהּ׃shim/Aa report of it

    Destruction and death say, We have heard the fame thereof with our ears.

23. 23

    אֱלֹהִיםe/lo/HIMGodהֵבִיןhe/VINunderstandsדַּרְכָּהּdar/KAits wayוְהוּאve/HUand Heיָדַעya/DAknowsאֶת־מְקוֹמָהּ׃et-me/ko/MAits place

    God understandeth the way thereof, and he knoweth the place thereof.

24. 24

    כִּי־הוּאki-hufor Heלִקְצוֹת־הָאָרֶץlik/TSOT-ha/A/retsto the ends of the earthיַבִּיטyab/BIThe looksתַּחַתTA/chatunderכׇּל־הַשָּׁמַיִםkol-hash/sha/MA/yimall the heavensיִרְאֶה׃yir/EHe sees

    For he looketh to the ends of the earth, and seeth under the whole heaven;

25. 25

    לַעֲשׂוֹתla/a/SOTto doלָרוּחַla/RU/achfor the windמִשְׁקָלmish/KALweightוּמַיִםu/MA/yimand the watersתִּכֵּןtik/KENHe meted outבְּמִדָּה׃be/mid/DAby measure

    To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure.

26. 26

    בַּעֲשֹׂתוֹba/a/so/TOwhen he madeלַמָּטָרlam/ma/TARfor the rainחֹקchoka decreeוְדֶרֶךְve/DE/rekhand a wayלַחֲזִיזla/cha/ZIZfor the lightning ofקֹלוֹת׃ko/LOTthunders

    When he made a decree for the rain, and a way for the lightning of the thunder:

27. 27

    אָזazthenרָאָהּra/Ahe saw itוַיְסַפְּרָהּvay/sap/pe/RAand declared itהֱכִינָהּhe/khi/NAHe established itוְגַם־חֲקָרָהּ׃ve/GAM-cha/ka/RAand also searched it out

    Then did he see it, and declare it; he prepared it, yea, and searched it out.

28. 28

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand He saidלָאָדָםla/a/DAMto manהֵןhenbeholdיִרְאַתyir/ATthe fear ofאֲדֹנָיa/do/NAYthe Lordהִיאhithat isחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְסוּרve/SURand to turnמֵרָעme/RAfrom evilבִּינָה׃bi/NAis understanding

    And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
