Job 3 אִיּוֹב פרק ג׳

   אַחֲרֵי־כֵןa/cha/RE-khenafter thisפָּתַחpa/TACHopenedאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobאֶת־פִּיהוּet-PI/huhis mouthוַיְקַלֵּלvay/kal/LELand cursedאֶת־יוֹמוֹ׃et-yo/MOhis day

   After this opened Job his mouth, and cursed his day.

2. 2

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand answeredאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   And Job spake, and said,

   יֹאבַדyo/VADlet perishיוֹםyomthe dayאִוָּלֶדiv/VA/ledI was bornבּוֹboin itוְהַלַּיְלָהve/hal/LAY/laand the nightאָמַרa/MARthat saidהֹרָהHO/rais conceivedגָבֶר׃GA/vera man

   Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived.

   הַיּוֹםhay/YOMthe dayהַהוּאha/HUthatיְהִי־חֹשֶׁךְye/HI-CHO/shekhlet it be darknessאַל־יִדְרְשֵׁהוּal-yid/re/SHE/hulet not seek itאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodמִמַּעַלmim/MA/alfrom aboveוְאַל־תּוֹפַעve/AL-to/FAnor let shineעָלָיוa/LAYVon itנְהָרָה׃ne/ha/RAlight

   Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.

   יִגְאָלֻהוּyig/a/LU/hulet claim itחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessוְצַלְמָוֶתve/tsal/MA/vetand the shadow of deathתִּשְׁכׇּן־עָלָיוtish/KON-a/LAYVlet dwell on itעֲנָנָהa/na/NAa cloudיְבַעֲתֻהוּye/va/a/TU/hulet terrify itכִּמְרִירֵיkim/RI/rethe blackness ofיוֹם׃yomthe day

   Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

   הַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/lathe nightהַהוּאha/HUthatיִקָּחֵהוּyik/ka/CHE/hulet seize itאֹפֶלO/feldarknessאַל־יִחַדְּal-yi/CHADDlet it not rejoiceבִּימֵיbi/MEamong the days ofשָׁנָהsha/NAthe yearבְּמִסְפַּרbe/mis/PARinto the number ofיְרָחִיםye/ra/CHIMthe monthsאַל־יָבֹא׃al-ya/VOlet it not come

   As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.

   הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdהַלַּיְלָהhal/LAY/lathe nightהַהוּאha/HUthatיְהִיye/HIlet beגַלְמוּדgal/MUDbarrenאַל־תָּבוֹאal-ta/VOlet not comeרְנָנָהre/na/NAa joyful shoutבוֹ׃voin it

   Lo, let that night be solitary, let no joyful voice come therein.

8. 8

   יִקְּבֻהוּyik/ke/VU/hulet curse itאֹרְרֵי־יוֹםor/RE-yomthose who curse the dayהָעֲתִידִיםha/a/ti/DIMwho are readyעֹרֵרo/RERto rouseלִוְיָתָן׃Liv/ya/TANLeviathan

   Let them curse it that curse the day, who are ready to raise up their mourning.

9. 9

   יֶחְשְׁכוּyech/she/KHUlet them grow darkכּוֹכְבֵיKOKH/vethe stars ofנִשְׁפּוֹnish/POits twilightיְקַו־לְאוֹרye/KAV-le/ORlet it look for lightוָאַיִןva/A/yinbut have noneוְאַל־יִרְאֶהve/AL-yir/Eneither let it seeבְּעַפְעַפֵּי־שָׁחַר׃be/af/ap/PE-SHA/charthe eyelids of the dawn

   Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:

    כִּיkibecauseלֹאlonotסָגַרsa/GARit shutדַּלְתֵיdal/TEthe doors ofבִטְנִיvit/NImy wombוַיַּסְתֵּרvay/yas/TERand hidעָמָלa/MALtroubleמֵעֵינָי׃me/e/NAYfrom my eyes

    Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.

11. 11

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyלֹּאlonotמֵרֶחֶםme/RE/chemfrom the wombאָמוּתa/MUTdid I dieמִבֶּטֶןmib/BE/tenfrom the bellyיָצָאתִיya/TSA/ticame outוְאֶגְוָע׃ve/eg/VAand perish

    Why died I not from the womb? why did I not give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?

12. 12

    מַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyקִדְּמוּנִיkid/de/MU/nidid receive meבִרְכָּיִםvir/KA/yimthe kneesוּמַה־שָּׁדַיִםu/MA-sha/DA/yimor why the breastsכִּיkithatאִינָק׃i/NAKI should suck

    Why did the knees prevent me? or why the breasts that I should suck?

13. 13

    כִּי־עַתָּהki-at/TAfor nowשָׁכַבְתִּיsha/KHAV/tiI would have lain downוְאֶשְׁקוֹטve/esh/KOTand been quietיָשַׁנְתִּיya/SHAN/tiI would have sleptאָזazthenיָנוּחַya/NU/achthere would be restלִי׃lifor me

    For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,

14. 14

    עִם־מְלָכִיםim-me/la/KHIMwith kingsוְיֹעֲצֵיve/YO/a/tseand the counselors ofאָרֶץA/retsthe earthהַבֹּנִיםhab/bo/NIMwho rebuiltחֳרָבוֹתcho/ra/VOTruinsלָמוֹ׃LA/mofor themselves

    With kings and counsellors of the earth, which built desolate places for themselves;

15. 15

    אוֹoorעִם־שָׂרִיםim-sa/RIMwith princesזָהָבza/HAVgoldלָהֶםla/HEMwho hadהַמְמַלְאִיםham/mal/IMthose who filledבָּתֵּיהֶםbat/te/HEMtheir housesכָּסֶף׃KA/sefwith silver

    Or with princes that had gold, who filled their houses with silver:

16. 16

    אוֹoorכְנֵפֶלkhe/NE/fellike a stillbirthטָמוּןta/MUNhiddenלֹאlonotאֶהְיֶהeh/YEwould I beכְּעֹלְלִיםke/ol/LIMlike infantsלֹא־רָאוּlo-ra/Uwho never sawאוֹר׃orlight

    Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.

17. 17

    שָׁםshamthereרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedחָדְלוּcha/de/LUceaseרֹגֶזRO/gezfrom troublingוְשָׁםve/SHAMand thereיָנוּחוּya/NU/churestיְגִיעֵיye/GI/ethe weary ofכֹחַ׃KHO/achstrength

    There the wicked cease from troubling; and there the weary be at rest.

18. 18

    יַחַדYA/chadtogetherאֲסִירִיםa/si/RIMthe prisonersשַׁאֲנָנוּsha/a/NA/nuare at easeלֹאlothey do notשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Uhearקוֹלkolthe voice ofנֹגֵשׂ׃no/GESthe taskmaster

    There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.

19. 19

    קָטֹןka/TONsmallוְגָדוֹלve/ga/DOLand greatשָׁםshamthereהוּאhuareוְעֶבֶדve/E/vedand the slave isחׇפְשִׁיchof/SHIfreeמֵאֲדֹנָיו׃me/a/do/NAYVfrom his master

    The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

20. 20

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyיִתֵּןyit/TENis givenלְעָמֵלle/a/MELto him who is in miseryאוֹרorlightוְחַיִּיםve/chay/YIMand lifeלְמָרֵיle/MA/reto the bitter ofנָפֶשׁ׃NA/feshsoul

    Wherefore is light given to him that is in misery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

21. 21

    הַמְחַכִּיםham/chak/KIMwho longלַמָּוֶתlam/MA/vetfor deathוְאֵינֶנּוּve/e/NEN/nubut it is notוַיַּחְפְּרֻהוּvay/yach/pe/RU/huand dig for itמִמַּטְמוֹנִים׃mim/mat/mo/NIMmore than for hidden treasures

    Which long for death, but it cometh not; and dig for it more than for hid treasures;

22. 22

    הַשְּׂמֵחִיםhas/se/me/CHIMwho rejoiceאֱלֵי־גִילe/LE-gilto exultationיָשִׂישׂוּya/SI/suand are gladכִּיkiwhenיִמְצְאוּ־קָבֶר׃yim/tse/U-KA/verthey find the grave

    Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?

23. 23

    לְגֶבֶרle/GE/verto a manאֲשֶׁר־דַּרְכּוֹa/SHER-dar/KOwhose wayנִסְתָּרָהnis/TA/rais hiddenוַיָּסֶךְvay/YA/sekhand has hedged inאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodבַּעֲדוֹ׃ba/a/DOaround him

    Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in?

24. 24

    כִּי־לִפְנֵיki-lif/NEfor beforeלַחְמִיlach/MImy breadאַנְחָתִיan/cha/TImy sighingתָבֹאta/VOcomesוַיִּתְּכוּvay/yit/te/KHUand are poured outכַמַּיִםkham/MA/yimlike waterשַׁאֲגֹתָי׃sha/a/go/TAYmy groanings

    For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters.

25. 25

    כִּיkiforפַחַדFA/chada fearפָּחַדְתִּיpa/chad/TII fearedוַיֶּאֱתָיֵנִיvay/ye/e/ta/YE/niand it has come upon meוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand whatיָגֹרְתִּיya/GOR/tiI dreadedיָבֹאya/VOhas comeלִי׃lito me

    For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.

26. 26

    לֹאlonotשָׁלַוְתִּיsha/LAV/tiam I at easeוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁקַטְתִּיsha/KAT/tiam I quietוְלֹא־נָחְתִּיve/LO-NACH/tiand I have no restוַיָּבֹאvay/ya/VObut comesרֹגֶז׃RO/geztrouble

    I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.
