Job 23 אִיּוֹב פרק כ״ג

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Then Job answered and said,

   גַּם־הַיּוֹםgam-hay/YOMeven todayמְרִיme/RIis bitterשִׂחִיsi/CHImy complaintיָדִיya/DImy handכָּבְדָהka/ve/DAis heavyעַל־אַנְחָתִי׃al-an/cha/TIon my groaning

   Even to day is my complaint bitter: my stroke is heavier than my groaning.

   מִי־יִתֵּןmi-yit/TENoh thatיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiI knewוְאֶמְצָאֵהוּve/em/tsa/E/huwhere I might find Himאָבוֹאa/VOthat I might comeעַד־תְּכוּנָתוֹ׃ad-te/khu/na/TOto His seat

   Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

   אֶעֶרְכָהe/er/KHAI would set outלְפָנָיוle/fa/NAYVbefore Himמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATmy caseוּפִיu/FIand my mouthאֲמַלֵּאa/mal/LEI would fill withתוֹכָחוֹת׃to/kha/CHOTarguments

   I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments.

   אֵדְעָהed/AI would knowמִלִּיםmil/LIMthe wordsיַעֲנֵנִיya/a/NE/niHe would answer meוְאָבִינָהve/a/VI/naand understandמַה־יֹּאמַרma-YO/marwhat He would sayלִי׃lito me

   I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me.

   הַבְּרׇב־כֹּחַhab/be/ROV-KO/achwould with great powerיָרִיבya/RIVHe contendעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meלֹאlonoאַךְ־הוּאakh-hubut Heיָשִׂםya/SIMwould pay heedבִּי׃bito me

   Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me.

   שָׁםshamthereיָשָׁרya/SHARan upright manנוֹכָחno/KHACHcould reasonעִמּוֹim/MOwith Himוַאֲפַלְּטָהva/a/fal/le/TAand I would be deliveredלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverמִשֹּׁפְטִי׃mish/shof/TIfrom my judge

   There the righteous might dispute with him; so should I be delivered for ever from my judge.

   הֵןhenbeholdקֶדֶםKE/demeastאֶהֱלֹךְe/he/LOKHI goוְאֵינֶנּוּve/e/NEN/nuand He is not thereוְאָחוֹרve/a/CHORand westוְלֹא־אָבִיןve/LO-a/VINand I do not perceiveלוֹ׃loHim

   Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

   שְׂמֹאולse/MOLon the leftבַּעֲשֹׂתוֹba/a/so/TOwhere He worksוְלֹא־אָחַזve/LO-A/chazI do not beholdיַעְטֹףya/TOFHe turnsיָמִיןya/MINto the rightוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶרְאֶה׃er/EI see

   On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

    כִּי־יָדַעki-ya/DAbut He knowsדֶּרֶךְDE/rekhthe wayעִמָּדִיim/ma/DIwith meבְּחָנַנִיbe/cha/NA/niwhen He has tested meכַּזָּהָבkaz/za/HAVas goldאֵצֵא׃e/TSEI go forth

    But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

    בַּאֲשֻׁרוֹba/a/shu/ROto His stepsאָחֲזָהa/cha/ZAhas held fastרַגְלִיrag/LImy footדַּרְכּוֹdar/KOHis wayשָׁמַרְתִּיsha/MAR/tiI have keptוְלֹא־אָט׃ve/LO-atand not turned aside

    My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.

12. 12

    מִצְוַתmits/VATthe commandments ofשְׂפָתָיוse/fa/TAYVHis lipsוְלֹאve/LOand notאָמִישׁa/MISHI have departedמֵחֻקִּיme/chuk/KImore than my portionצָפַנְתִּיtsa/FAN/tiI have treasuredאִמְרֵי־פִיו׃im/RE-fivthe words of His mouth

    Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

13. 13

    וְהוּאve/HUbut Heבְאֶחָדve/e/CHADis of one mindוּמִיu/MIand whoיְשִׁיבֶנּוּye/shi/VEN/nucan turn Him backוְנַפְשׁוֹve/naf/SHOand His soulאִוְּתָהiv/ve/TAdesiresוַיָּעַשׂ׃vay/YA/asand He does

    But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth.

14. 14

    כִּיkiforיַשְׁלִיםyash/LIMHe will completeחֻקִּיchuk/KIwhat is decreed for meוְכָהֵנָּהve/kha/HEN/naand like theseרַבּוֹתrab/BOTmanyעִמּוֹ׃im/MOare with Him

    For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him.

15. 15

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeמִפָּנָיוmip/pa/NAYVat His presenceאֶבָּהֵלeb/ba/HELI am terrifiedאֶתְבּוֹנֵןet/bo/NENwhen I considerוְאֶפְחַדve/ef/CHADI am afraidמִמֶּנּוּ׃mim/MEN/nuof Him

    Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him.

16. 16

    וְאֵלve/ELand Godהֵרַךְhe/RAKHhas made softלִבִּיlib/BImy heartוְשַׁדַּיve/Shad/DAYand the Almightyהִבְהִילָנִי׃hiv/hi/LA/nihas terrified me

    For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:

17. 17

    כִּי־לֹאki-lofor notנִצְמַתִּיnits/mat/TIwas I cut offמִפְּנֵי־חֹשֶׁךְmip/pe/NE-CHO/shekhbecause of darknessוּמִפָּנַיu/mip/pa/NAYnor from my faceכִּסָּה־אֹפֶל׃kis/SA-O/felhas He covered the gloom

    Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither hath he covered the darkness from my face.
