   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredאֱלִיפַזE/li/FAZEliphazהַתֵּמָנִיhat/Te/ma/NIthe Temaniteוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

   הַלְאֵלhal/ELto Godיִסְכׇּן־גָּבֶרyis/KON-GA/vercan a man be profitableכִּי־יִסְכֹּןki-yis/KONthough is profitableעָלֵימוֹa/LE/moto himselfמַשְׂכִּיל׃mas/KILthe prudent

   Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

   הַחֵפֶץha/CHE/fetsis it a pleasureלְשַׁדַּיle/Shad/DAYto the Almightyכִּיkithatתִצְדָּקtits/DAKyou are righteousוְאִם־בֶּצַעve/IM-BE/tsaor is it gainכִּי־תַתֵּםki-tat/TEMthat you make blamelessדְּרָכֶיךָ׃de/ra/KHE/khayour ways

   Is it any pleasure to the Almighty, that thou art righteous? or is it gain to him, that thou makest thy ways perfect?

   הֲמִיִּרְאָתְךָha/miy/yir/AT/khais it for your fearיֹכִיחֶךָyo/khi/CHE/khathat He reproves youיָבוֹאya/VOentersעִמְּךָim/me/KHAwith youבַּמִּשְׁפָּט׃bam/mish/PATinto judgment

   Will he reprove thee for fear of thee? will he enter with thee into judgment?

   הֲלֹאha/LOis it notרָעָתְךָra/a/te/KHAyour wickednessרַבָּהrab/BAgreatוְאֵין־קֵץve/EN-ketsand no endלַעֲוֺנֹתֶיךָ׃la/a/vo/no/TE/khato your iniquities

   Is not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities infinite?

6. 6

   כִּי־תַחְבֹּלki-tach/BOLfor you have taken pledges fromאַחֶיךָa/CHE/khayour brothersחִנָּםchin/NAMfor nothingוּבִגְדֵיu/vig/DEand the clothing ofעֲרוּמִּיםa/rum/MIMthe nakedתַּפְשִׁיט׃taf/SHITyou have stripped off

   For thou hast taken a pledge from thy brother for nought, and stripped the naked of their clothing.

   לֹא־מַיִםlo-MA/yimno waterעָיֵףa/YEFthe wearyתַּשְׁקֶהtash/KEyou have given to drinkוּמֵרָעֵבu/me/ra/EVand from the hungryתִּמְנַע־לָחֶם׃tim/NA-LA/chemyou have withheld bread

   Thou hast not given water to the weary to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

   וְאִישׁve/ISHand the man ofזְרוֹעַze/RO/aarmלוֹlohadהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe earthוּנְשׂוּאu/ne/SUand the favoredפָנִיםfa/NIMof personיֵשֶׁבYE/shevdweltבָּהּ׃bain it

   But as for the mighty man, he had the earth; and the honourable man dwelt in it.

9. 9

   אַלְמָנוֹתal/ma/NOTwidowsשִׁלַּחְתָּshil/LACH/tayou have sent awayרֵיקָםre/KAMemptyוּזְרֹעוֹתu/ze/ro/OTand the arms ofיְתֹמִיםye/to/MIMthe fatherlessיְדֻכָּא׃ye/duk/KAare crushed

   Thou hast sent widows away empty, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

10. 10

    עַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeסְבִיבוֹתֶיךָse/vi/vo/TE/khaall around youפַחִיםfa/CHIMsnaresוִיבַהֶלְךָvi/va/hel/KHAand terrifies youפַּחַדPA/chaddreadפִּתְאֹם׃pit/OMsuddenly

    Therefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

    אוֹ־חֹשֶׁךְo-CHO/shekhor darknessלֹא־תִרְאֶהlo-tir/Ethat you cannot seeוְשִׁפְעַת־מַיִםve/shif/AT-MA/yimand a flood of watersתְּכַסֶּךָּ׃te/khas/SEK/kacovers you

    Or darkness, that thou canst not see; and abundance of waters cover thee.

12. 12

    הֲלֹא־אֱלוֹהַּha/LO-e/LO/ahis not GodגֹּבַהּGO/vain the height ofשָׁמָיִםsha/MA/yimheavenוּרְאֵהu/re/Eand seeרֹאשׁroshthe highestכּוֹכָבִיםko/kha/VIMstarsכִּי־רָמּוּ׃ki-RAM/muhow lofty they are

    Is not God in the height of heaven? and behold the height of the stars, how high they are!

13. 13

    וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayמַה־יָּדַעma-YA/dawhat does he knowאֵלelGodהַבְעַדhav/ADthroughעֲרָפֶלa/ra/FELthick darknessיִשְׁפּוֹט׃yish/POTcan He judge

    And thou sayest, How doth God know? can he judge through the dark cloud?

14. 14

    עָבִיםa/VIMthick cloudsסֵתֶר־לוֹSE/ter-loare a covering for Himוְלֹאve/LOand notיִרְאֶהyir/EHe seesוְחוּגve/CHUGand the vault ofשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensיִתְהַלָּךְ׃yit/hal/LAKHHe walks

    Thick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh in the circuit of heaven.

15. 15

    הַאֹרַחha/O/rachthe path ofעוֹלָםo/LAMoldתִּשְׁמוֹרtish/MORwill you keepאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichדָּרְכוּda/re/KHUhave troddenמְתֵי־אָוֶן׃me/TE-A/venmen of iniquity

    Hast thou marked the old way which wicked men have trodden?

16. 16

    אֲשֶׁר־קֻמְּטוּa/SHER-kum/me/TUwho were snatched awayוְלֹא־עֵתve/LO-etbefore their timeנָהָרna/HARa riverיוּצַקyu/TSAKwas poured outיְסוֹדָם׃ye/so/DAMtheir foundation

    Which were cut down out of time, whose foundation was overflown with a flood:

    הָאֹמְרִיםha/om/RIMwho saidלָאֵלla/ELto Godסוּרsurdepartמִמֶּנּוּmim/MEN/nufrom usוּמַה־יִּפְעַלu/MA-yif/ALand what can doשַׁדַּיShad/DAYthe Almightyלָמוֹ׃LA/mofor them

    Which said unto God, Depart from us: and what can the Almighty do for them?

18. 18

    וְהוּאve/HUyet Heמִלֵּאmil/LEfilledבָתֵּיהֶםvat/te/HEMtheir housesטוֹבtovwith goodוַעֲצַתva/a/TSATbut the counsel ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedרָחֲקָהRA/cha/kais farמֶנִּי׃MEN/nifrom me

    Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

19. 19

    יִרְאוּyir/Ushall seeצַדִּיקִיםtsad/di/KIMthe righteousוְיִשְׂמָחוּve/yis/MA/chuand rejoiceוְנָקִיve/na/KIand the innocentיִלְעַג־לָמוֹ׃yil/AG-LA/momocks them

    The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.

20. 20

    אִם־לֹאim-losurelyנִכְחַדnikh/CHADare cut offקִימָנוּki/MA/nuour adversariesוְיִתְרָםve/yit/RAMand their abundanceאָכְלָהa/khe/LAhas consumedאֵשׁ׃eshfire

    Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.

21. 21

    הַסְכֶּן־נָאhas/KEN-nacome to terms nowעִמּוֹim/MOwith Himוּשְׁלָםu/she/LAMand be at peaceבָּהֶםba/HEMby themתְּבוֹאַתְךָte/vo/at/KHAwill come to youטוֹבָה׃to/VAgood

    Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

22. 22

    קַח־נָאkach-nareceive nowמִפִּיוmip/PIVfrom His mouthתּוֹרָהto/RAinstructionוְשִׂיםve/SIMand putאֲמָרָיוa/ma/RAYVHis wordsבִּלְבָבֶךָ׃bil/va/VE/khain your heart

    Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.

23. 23

    אִם־תָּשׁוּבim-ta/SHUVif you returnעַד־שַׁדַּיad-Shad/DAYto the Almightyתִּבָּנֶהtib/ba/NEyou will be built upתַּרְחִיקtar/CHIKif you put far awayעַוְלָהav/LAinjusticeמֵאׇהֳלֶךָ׃me/o/ho/LE/khafrom your tent

    If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.

24. 24

    וְשִׁית־עַל־עָפָרve/SHIT-al-a/FARand lay in the dustבָּצֶרBA/tsergold oreוּכְצוּרu/khe/TSURand among the rocks ofנְחָלִיםne/cha/LIMthe wadisאוֹפִיר׃O/FIROphir

    Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.

25. 25

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAthen will beשַׁדַּיShad/DAYthe Almightyבְּצָרֶיךָbe/tsa/RE/khayour goldוְכֶסֶףve/KHE/sefand silverתּוֹעָפוֹתto/a/FOTin heapsלָךְ׃lakhfor you

    Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

26. 26

    כִּי־אָזki-azfor thenעַל־שַׁדַּיal-Shad/DAYin the Almightyתִּתְעַנָּגtit/an/NAGyou will delightוְתִשָּׂאve/tis/SAand lift upאֶל־אֱלוֹהַּel-e/LO/ahto Godפָּנֶיךָ׃pa/NE/khayour face

    For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.

27. 27

    תַּעְתִּירta/TIRyou will prayאֵלָיוe/LAYVto Himוְיִשְׁמָעֶךָּve/yish/ma/EK/kaand He will hear youוּנְדָרֶיךָu/ne/da/RE/khaand your vowsתְשַׁלֵּם׃te/shal/LEMyou will pay

    Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.

28. 28

    וְתִגְזַר־אֹמֶרve/tig/ZAR-O/merand you will decree a thingוְיָקׇם־לָךְve/YA/kom-lakhand it will be established for youוְעַל־דְּרָכֶיךָve/AL-de/ra/KHE/khaand on your waysנָגַהּna/GAwill shineאוֹר׃orlight

    Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

29. 29

    כִּי־הִשְׁפִּילוּki-hish/pi/LUwhen they are brought lowוַתֹּאמֶרvat/TO/meryou will sayגֵּוָהge/VAlifting upוְשַׁחve/SHACHand the lowlyעֵינַיִםe/NA/yimof eyesיוֹשִׁעַ׃yo/SHI/aHe will save

    When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.

30. 30

    יְמַלֵּטye/mal/LETHe will deliverאִי־נָקִיi-na/KIone not innocentוְנִמְלַטve/nim/LATand he will be deliveredבְּבֹרbe/VORthrough the cleanness ofכַּפֶּיךָ׃kap/PE/khayour hands

    He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.
