Job 19 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ט

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Then Job answered and said,

   עַד־אָנָהad-A/nahow longתּוֹגְיוּןtog/YUNwill you tormentנַפְשִׁיnaf/SHImy soulוּתְדַכּאוּנַנִיu/te/dakk/u/NA/niand crush meבְמִלִּים׃ve/mil/LIMwith words

   How long will ye vex my soul, and break me in pieces with words?

3. 3

   זֶהzethisעֶשֶׂרE/sertenפְּעָמִיםpe/a/MIMtimesתַּכְלִימוּנִיtakh/li/MU/niyou have insulted meלֹא־תֵבֹשׁוּlo-te/VO/shuyou are not ashamedתַּהְכְּרוּ־לִי׃tah/ke/RU-liyou wrong me

   These ten times have ye reproached me: ye are not ashamed that ye make yourselves strange to me.

   וְאַף־אׇמְנָםve/AF-om/NAMand even if trulyשָׁגִיתִיsha/GI/tiI have erredאִתִּיit/TIwith meתָּלִיןta/LINremainsמְשׁוּגָתִי׃me/shu/ga/TImy error

   And be it indeed that I have erred, mine error remaineth with myself.

   אִם־אׇמְנָםim-om/NAMif indeedעָלַיa/LAYagainst meתַּגְדִּילוּtag/DI/luyou magnify yourselvesוְתוֹכִיחוּve/to/KHI/chuand proveעָלַיa/LAYagainst meחֶרְפָּתִי׃cher/pa/TImy reproach

   If indeed ye will magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my reproach:

   דְּעוּ־אֵפוֹde/U-e/FOknow thenכִּי־אֱלוֹהַּki-e/LO/ahthat Godעִוְּתָנִיiv/ve/TA/nihas wronged meוּמְצוּדוֹu/me/tsu/DOand His netעָלַיa/LAYaround meהִקִּיף׃hik/KIFhas closed

   Know now that God hath overthrown me, and hath compassed me with his net.

   הֵןhenbeholdאֶצְעַקets/AKI cryחָמָסcha/MASviolenceוְלֹאve/LOand notאֵעָנֶהe/a/NEI am answeredאֲשַׁוַּעa/shav/VAI call for helpוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמִשְׁפָּט׃mish/PATjustice

   Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

   אׇרְחִיor/CHImy pathגָדַרga/DARHe has walled upוְלֹאve/LOand notאֶעֱבוֹרe/e/VORI can passוְעַלve/ALand onנְתִיבוֹתַיne/ti/vo/TAYmy pathsחֹשֶׁךְCHO/shekhdarknessיָשִׂים׃ya/SIMHe has set

   He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

   כְּבוֹדִיke/vo/DImy gloryמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meהִפְשִׁיטhif/SHITHe has strippedוַיָּסַרvay/YA/sarand takenעֲטֶרֶתa/TE/retthe crown ofרֹאשִׁי׃ro/SHImy head

   He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

10. 10

    יִתְּצֵנִיyit/te/TSE/niHe tears me downסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundוָאֵלַךְva/e/LAKHand I am goneוַיַּסַּעvay/yas/SAand He has uprootedכָּעֵץka/ETSlike a treeתִּקְוָתִי׃tik/va/TImy hope

    He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

11. 11

    וַיַּחַרvay/YA/charand He has kindledעָלַיa/LAYagainst meאַפּוֹap/POHis angerוַיַּחְשְׁבֵנִיvay/yach/she/VE/niand He counts meלוֹloto Himכְצָרָיו׃khe/tsa/RAYVas His adversaries

    He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

    יַחַדYA/chadtogetherיָבֹאוּya/VO/ucomeגְדוּדָיוge/du/DAYVHis troopsוַיָּסֹלּוּvay/ya/SOL/luand they build upעָלַיa/LAYagainst meדַּרְכָּםdar/KAMtheir wayוַיַּחֲנוּvay/ya/cha/NUand encampסָבִיבsa/VIVall aroundלְאׇהֳלִי׃le/o/ho/LImy tent

    His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

    אַחַיa/CHAYmy brothersמֵעָלַיme/a/LAYfrom meהִרְחִיקhir/CHIKHe has put farוְיֹדְעַיve/yod/AYand my acquaintancesאַךְ־זָרוּakh-ZA/ruare wholly estrangedמִמֶּנִּי׃mim/MEN/nifrom me

    He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

14. 14

    חָדְלוּcha/de/LUhave failedקְרוֹבָיke/ro/VAYmy relativesוּמְיֻדָּעַיu/me/yud/da/AYand my close friendsשְׁכֵחוּנִי׃she/khe/CHU/nihave forgotten me

    My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

15. 15

    גָּרֵיga/REthe guests inבֵיתִיve/TImy houseוְאַמְהֹתַיve/am/ho/TAYand my maidservantsלְזָרle/ZARas a strangerתַּחְשְׁבֻנִיtach/she/VU/nicount meנׇכְרִיnokh/RIa foreignerהָיִיתִיha/YI/tiI have becomeבְעֵינֵיהֶם׃ve/e/ne/HEMin their eyes

    They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

16. 16

    לְעַבְדִּיle/av/DIto my servantקָרָאתִיka/RA/tiI callוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעֲנֶהya/a/NEhe answersבְּמוֹ־פִיbe/MO-fiwith my mouthאֶתְחַנֶּן־לוֹ׃et/chan/NEN-loI must plead with him

    I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I intreated him with my mouth.

    רוּחִיru/CHImy breathזָרָהza/RAis strangeלְאִשְׁתִּיle/ish/TIto my wifeוְחַנֹּתִיve/chan/no/TIand I am loathsomeלִבְנֵיliv/NEto the children ofבִטְנִי׃vit/NImy womb

    My breath is strange to my wife, though I intreated for the children's sake of mine own body.

18. 18

    גַּם־עֲוִילִיםgam-a/vi/LIMeven young childrenמָאֲסוּma/a/SUdespiseבִיvimeאָקוּמָהa/KU/maI riseוַיְדַבְּרוּ־בִי׃vay/dab/be/RU-viand they speak against me

    Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

19. 19

    תִּעֲבוּנִיti/a/vu/NIabhor meכׇּל־מְתֵיkol-me/TEall the men ofסוֹדִיso/DImy intimate circleוְזֶה־אָהַבְתִּיve/ZE-a/HAV/tiand those I lovedנֶהְפְּכוּ־בִי׃neh/pe/KHU-vihave turned against me

    All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

20. 20

    בְּעוֹרִיbe/o/RIon my skinוּבִבְשָׂרִיu/viv/sa/RIand on my fleshדָּבְקָהda/ve/KAcleavesעַצְמִיats/MImy boneוָאֶתְמַלְּטָהva/et/mal/le/TAand I have escapedבְּעוֹרbe/ORwith the skin ofשִׁנָּי׃shin/NAYmy teeth

    My bone cleaveth to my skin and to my flesh, and I am escaped with the skin of my teeth.

21. 21

    חׇנֻּנִיchon/NU/nihave pity on meחׇנֻּנִיchon/NU/nihave pity on meאַתֶּםat/TEMyouרֵעָיre/AYmy friendsכִּיkiforיַד־אֱלוֹהַּyad-e/LO/ahthe hand of GodנָגְעָהNAG/ahas touchedבִּי׃bime

    Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ye my friends; for the hand of God hath touched me.

22. 22

    לָמָּהLAM/mawhyתִּרְדְּפֻנִיtir/de/FU/nido you persecute meכְמוֹ־אֵלkhe/MO-ellike Godוּמִבְּשָׂרִיu/mib/be/sa/RIand from my fleshלֹאlonotתִשְׂבָּעוּ׃tis/BA/uare you satisfied

    Why do ye persecute me as God, and are not satisfied with my flesh?

23. 23

    מִי־יִתֵּןmi-yit/TENoh thatאֵפוֹe/FOnowוְיִכָּתְבוּןve/yik/ka/te/VUNwere writtenמִלָּיmil/LAYmy wordsמִי־יִתֵּןmi-yit/TENoh thatבַּסֵּפֶרbas/SE/ferin a bookוְיֻחָקוּ׃ve/yu/CHA/kuwere inscribed

    Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!

24. 24

    בְּעֵט־בַּרְזֶלbe/ET-bar/ZELwith a stylus of ironוְעֹפָרֶתve/o/FA/retand leadלָעַדla/ADforeverבַּצּוּרbats/TSURin the rockיֵחָצְבוּן׃ye/cha/tse/VUNwere engraved

    That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!

25. 25

    וַאֲנִיva/a/NIbut Iיָדַעְתִּיya/DA/tiknowגֹּאֲלִיGO/a/limy Redeemerחָיchaylivesוְאַחֲרוֹןve/a/cha/RONand at the lastעַל־עָפָרal-a/FARupon the dustיָקוּם׃ya/KUMHe will stand

    For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

26. 26

    וְאַחַרve/a/CHARand thenעוֹרִיo/RImy skinנִקְּפוּ־זֹאתnik/ke/FU-zotis destroyed thusוּמִבְּשָׂרִיu/mib/be/sa/RIyet from my fleshאֶחֱזֶהe/che/ZEI shall seeאֱלוֹהַּ׃e/LO/ahGod

    And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:

27. 27

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhomאֲנִיa/NIIאֶחֱזֶה־לִּיe/che/ZE-liwill see for myselfוְעֵינַיve/e/NAYand my eyesרָאוּra/Uwill beholdוְלֹא־זָרve/LO-zarand not a strangerכָּלוּka/LUfaintכִלְיֹתַיkhil/yo/TAYmy kidneysבְּחֵקִי׃be/che/KIwithin me

    Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.

28. 28

    כִּיkiifתֹאמְרוּto/me/RUyou sayמַה־נִּרְדׇּף־לוֹma-nir/DOF-lohow shall we persecute himוְשֹׁרֶשׁve/SHO/reshand the root ofדָּבָרda/VARthe matterנִמְצָא־בִי׃nim/TSA-viis found in me

    But ye should say, Why persecute we him, seeing the root of the matter is found in me?

29. 29

    גּוּרוּGU/rube afraidלָכֶםla/KHEMfor yourselvesמִפְּנֵי־חֶרֶבmip/pe/NE-CHE/revof the swordכִּי־חֵמָהki-che/MAfor wrath bringsעֲוֺנוֹתa/vo/NOTthe punishments ofחָרֶבCHA/reva swordלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatתֵּדְעוּןted/UNyou may know[שַׁדּוּן]׃shad/DUNthere is a judgment

    Be ye afraid of the sword: for wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, that ye may know there is a judgment.
