Job 18 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ח

   וַיַּעַןand he answeredבִּלְדַּדBildadהַשֻּׁחִיthe Shuhiteוַיֹּאמַר׃and said

   Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

   עַד־אָנָהhow longתְּשִׂימוּןwill it be ere you makeקִנְצֵיan endלְמִלִּיןof wordsתָּבִינוּmarkוְאַחַרand thenנְדַבֵּר׃speak

   How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.

   מַדּוּעַwhyנֶחְשַׁבְנוּare we countedכַבְּהֵמָהlike the cattleנִטְמִינוּand reputed vileבְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃in your sight

   Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?

4. 4

   טֹרֵףhe tearsנַפְשׁוֹhis soulבְּאַפּוֹin his angerהַלְמַעַנְךָshall for your sakeתֵּעָזַבmay it be abandonedאָרֶץthe earthוְיֶעְתַּק־צוּרand shall the rock be removedמִמְּקֹמוֹ׃from his place

   He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?

   גַּםalsoאוֹרlightרְשָׁעִיםwicked menיִדְעָךְit is extinguishedוְלֹא־יִגַּהּshall not shineשְׁבִיבthe spark ofאִשּׁוֹ׃his fire

   Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

   אוֹרlightחָשַׁךְshall be darkבְּאׇהֳלוֹin his tentוְנֵרוֹand his lampעָלָיוupon himיִדְעָךְ׃it is extinguished

   The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

7. 7

   יֵצְרוּshall be straitenedצַעֲדֵיthe steps ofאוֹנוֹhis strengthוְתַשְׁלִיכֵהוּand it throws down himעֲצָתוֹ׃his own counsel

   The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

8. 8

   כִּי־שֻׁלַּחfor he is castבְּרֶשֶׁתin a netבְּרַגְלָיוby his own feetוְעַל־שְׂבָכָהand upon a networkיִתְהַלָּךְ׃he walks about

   For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

9. 9

   יֹאחֵזit takes holdבְּעָקֵבby the heelפָּחthe ginיַחֲזֵקshall prevailעָלָיוupon himצַמִּים׃the robber

   The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

10. 10

    טָמוּןis laidבָּאָרֶץin the landחַבְלוֹthe snare for himוּמַלְכֻּדְתּוֹand his trapעֲלֵיonנָתִיב׃in the way

    The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

11. 11

    סָבִיבall aroundבִּעֲתֻהוּthey terrify himבַלָּהוֹתterrorsוֶהֱפִיצֻהוּand shall drive himלְרַגְלָיו׃at his feet

    Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

12. 12

    יְהִי־רָעֵבshall be hungerbittenאֹנוֹhis strengthוְאֵידand destructionנָכוֹןshall be readyלְצַלְעוֹ׃at his side

    His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

13. 13

    יֹאכַלhe shall eatבַּדֵּיthe strength ofעוֹרוֹhis skinיֹאכַלhe shall eatבַּדָּיוhis strengthבְּכוֹרthe firstborn ofמָוֶת׃death

    It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

14. 14

    יִנָּתֵקshall be rooted outמֵאׇהֳלוֹfrom his tentמִבְטַחוֹhis trustוְתַצְעִדֵהוּand it shall bring himלְמֶלֶךְto the kingבַּלָּהוֹת׃of terrors

    His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

15. 15

    תִּשְׁכּוֹןit dwellsבְּאׇהֳלוֹin his tentמִבְּלִילוֹbecause it is none of hisיְזֹרֶהshall be scatteredעַל־נָוֵהוּupon his habitationגׇפְרִית׃sulfur

    It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

16. 16

    מִתַּחַתfrom beneathשׇׁרָשָׁיוits rootsיִבָשׁוּthey are dried upוּמִמַּעַלand aboveיִמַּלshall be cut offקְצִירוֹ׃his branch

    His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

17. 17

    זִכְרוֹ־אָבַדhis remembrance shall perishמִנִּי־אָרֶץfrom the earthוְלֹא־שֵׁםand not name ofלוֹto himעַל־פְּנֵי־חוּץ׃in the street

    His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

18. 18

    יֶהְדְּפֻהוּhe shall be drivenמֵאוֹרfrom lightאֶל־חֹשֶׁךְto darknessוּמִתֵּבֵלand from the worldיְנִדֻּהוּ׃chased out

    He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

19. 19

    לֹא־נִיןneither sonלוֹto himוְלֹא־נֶכֶדnor nephewבְּעַמּוֹamong his peopleוְאֵיןand there is noשָׂרִידa survivorבִּמְגוּרָיו׃in his dwellings

    He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

20. 20

    עַל־יוֹמוֹupon his dayנָשַׁמּוּshall be astoniedאַחֲרֹנִיםthey that come afterוְקַדְמֹנִיםas they that went beforeאָחֲזוּwere affrightedשָׂעַר׃with horror

    They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

21. 21

    אַךְ־אֵלֶּהbut theseמִשְׁכְּנוֹתthe dwellings ofעַוָּלthe wickedוְזֶהand thisמְקוֹםthe placeלֹא־יָדַע־אֵל׃not he knew God

    Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
