Job 18 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ח

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredבִּלְדַּדBil/DADBildadהַשֻּׁחִיhash/Shu/CHIthe Shuhiteוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,

   עַד־אָנָהad-A/nahow longתְּשִׂימוּןte/si/MUNwill you setקִנְצֵיkin/TSEsnares forלְמִלִּיןle/mil/LINwordsתָּבִינוּta/VI/nuconsiderוְאַחַרve/a/CHARand afterwardנְדַבֵּר׃ne/dab/BERwe will speak

   How long will it be ere ye make an end of words? mark, and afterwards we will speak.

   מַדּוּעַmad/DU/awhyנֶחְשַׁבְנוּnech/SHAV/nuare we countedכַבְּהֵמָהkhab/be/he/MAlike the cattleנִטְמִינוּnit/MI/nuare we stupidבְּעֵינֵיכֶם׃be/e/ne/KHEMin your eyes

   Wherefore are we counted as beasts, and reputed vile in your sight?

   טֹרֵףto/REFyou who tearנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhimselfבְּאַפּוֹbe/ap/POin his angerהַלְמַעַנְךָhal/ma/an/KHAfor your sakeתֵּעָזַבte/A/zavshall be forsakenאָרֶץA/retsthe earthוְיֶעְתַּק־צוּרve/ye/TAK-tsuror shall the rock be movedמִמְּקֹמוֹ׃mim/me/ko/MOfrom its place

   He teareth himself in his anger: shall the earth be forsaken for thee? and shall the rock be removed out of his place?

   גַּםgamyesאוֹרorthe light ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedיִדְעָךְyid/AKHis put outוְלֹא־יִגַּהּve/LO-yig/GAand will not shineשְׁבִיבshe/VIVthe flame ofאִשּׁוֹ׃ish/SHOhis fire

   Yea, the light of the wicked shall be put out, and the spark of his fire shall not shine.

   אוֹרorthe lightחָשַׁךְcha/SHAKHis darkבְּאׇהֳלוֹbe/o/ho/LOin his tentוְנֵרוֹve/ne/ROand his lampעָלָיוa/LAYVabove himיִדְעָךְ׃yid/AKHis put out

   The light shall be dark in his tabernacle, and his candle shall be put out with him.

   יֵצְרוּyets/RUare shortenedצַעֲדֵיtsa/a/DEthe steps ofאוֹנוֹo/NOhis strengthוְתַשְׁלִיכֵהוּve/tash/li/KHE/huand casts him downעֲצָתוֹ׃a/tsa/TOhis own counsel

   The steps of his strength shall be straitened, and his own counsel shall cast him down.

8. 8

   כִּי־שֻׁלַּחki-shul/LACHfor he is thrownבְּרֶשֶׁתbe/RE/shetinto a netבְּרַגְלָיוbe/rag/LAYVby his own feetוְעַל־שְׂבָכָהve/AL-se/va/KHAand on a meshיִתְהַלָּךְ׃yit/hal/LAKHhe walks

   For he is cast into a net by his own feet, and he walketh upon a snare.

   יֹאחֵזyo/CHEZseizesבְּעָקֵבbe/a/KEVby the heelפָּחpacha trapיַחֲזֵקya/cha/ZEKtakes holdעָלָיוa/LAYVon himצַמִּים׃tsam/MIMa snare

   The gin shall take him by the heel, and the robber shall prevail against him.

10. 10

    טָמוּןta/MUNis hiddenבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the groundחַבְלוֹchav/LOa noose for himוּמַלְכֻּדְתּוֹu/mal/kud/TOand a trap for himעֲלֵיa/LEonנָתִיב׃na/TIVthe path

    The snare is laid for him in the ground, and a trap for him in the way.

11. 11

    סָבִיבsa/VIVon every sideבִּעֲתֻהוּbi/a/TU/huterrify himבַלָּהוֹתval/la/HOTterrorsוֶהֱפִיצֻהוּve/he/fi/TSU/huand chase himלְרַגְלָיו׃le/rag/LAYVat his heels

    Terrors shall make him afraid on every side, and shall drive him to his feet.

12. 12

    יְהִי־רָעֵבye/HI-ra/EVis famishedאֹנוֹo/NOhis strengthוְאֵידve/EDand calamityנָכוֹןna/KHONis readyלְצַלְעוֹ׃le/tsal/Oat his side

    His strength shall be hungerbitten, and destruction shall be ready at his side.

13. 13

    יֹאכַלyo/KHALit devoursבַּדֵּיbad/DEthe parts ofעוֹרוֹo/ROhis skinיֹאכַלyo/KHALdevoursבַּדָּיוbad/DAYVhis limbsבְּכוֹרbe/KHORthe firstborn ofמָוֶת׃MA/vetdeath

    It shall devour the strength of his skin: even the firstborn of death shall devour his strength.

14. 14

    יִנָּתֵקyin/na/TEKis tornמֵאׇהֳלוֹme/o/ho/LOfrom his tentמִבְטַחוֹmiv/ta/CHOhis securityוְתַצְעִדֵהוּve/tats/i/DE/huand it marches himלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhto the king ofבַּלָּהוֹת׃bal/la/HOTterrors

    His confidence shall be rooted out of his tabernacle, and it shall bring him to the king of terrors.

15. 15

    תִּשְׁכּוֹןtish/KONdwellsבְּאׇהֳלוֹbe/o/ho/LOin his tentמִבְּלִילוֹmib/be/li/LOwhat is none of hisיְזֹרֶהye/zo/REis scatteredעַל־נָוֵהוּal-na/VE/huover his dwellingגׇפְרִית׃gof/RITbrimstone

    It shall dwell in his tabernacle, because it is none of his: brimstone shall be scattered upon his habitation.

16. 16

    מִתַּחַתmit/TA/chatbelowשׇׁרָשָׁיוsho/ra/SHAYVhis rootsיִבָשׁוּyi/VA/shudry upוּמִמַּעַלu/mim/MA/aland aboveיִמַּלyim/MALwithersקְצִירוֹ׃ke/tsi/ROhis branch

    His roots shall be dried up beneath, and above shall his branch be cut off.

17. 17

    זִכְרוֹ־אָבַדzikh/RO-a/VADhis memory perishesמִנִּי־אָרֶץmin/NI-A/retsfrom the earthוְלֹא־שֵׁםve/LO-shemand no nameלוֹlohas heעַל־פְּנֵי־חוּץ׃al-pe/NE-chutsin the street

    His remembrance shall perish from the earth, and he shall have no name in the street.

18. 18

    יֶהְדְּפֻהוּyeh/de/fu/HUthey thrust himמֵאוֹרme/ORfrom lightאֶל־חֹשֶׁךְel-CHO/shekhto darknessוּמִתֵּבֵלu/mit/te/VELand from the worldיְנִדֻּהוּ׃ye/nid/DU/huthey chase him

    He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

19. 19

    לֹא־נִיןlo-ninno offspringלוֹlohas heוְלֹא־נֶכֶדve/LO-NE/khednor descendantבְּעַמּוֹbe/am/MOamong his peopleוְאֵיןve/ENand noשָׂרִידsa/RIDsurvivorבִּמְגוּרָיו׃bim/gu/RAYVwhere he sojourned

    He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

20. 20

    עַל־יוֹמוֹal-yo/MOat his dayנָשַׁמּוּna/SHAM/muare appalledאַחֲרֹנִיםa/cha/ro/NIMthose who come afterוְקַדְמֹנִיםve/kad/mo/NIMand those who went beforeאָחֲזוּA/cha/zuare seizedשָׂעַר׃SA/arwith horror

    They that come after him shall be astonied at his day, as they that went before were affrighted.

21. 21

    אַךְ־אֵלֶּהakh-EL/lesurely such areמִשְׁכְּנוֹתmish/ke/NOTthe dwellings ofעַוָּלav/VALthe unrighteousוְזֶהve/ZEand this isמְקוֹםme/KOMthe place ofלֹא־יָדַע־אֵל׃lo-ya/DA-elhim who does not know God

    Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked, and this is the place of him that knoweth not God.
