Job 20 אִיּוֹב פרק כ׳

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredצֹפַרTso/FARZopharהַנַּעֲמָתִיhan/Na/a/ma/TIthe Naamathiteוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeשְׂעִפַּיse/ip/PAYmy troubled thoughtsיְשִׁיבוּנִיye/shi/VU/nimake me answerוּבַעֲבוּרu/va/a/VURand because ofחוּשִׁיCHU/shimy hasteבִי׃viwithin me

   Therefore do my thoughts cause me to answer, and for this I make haste.

   מוּסַרmu/SARthe correction ofכְּלִמָּתִיke/lim/ma/TImy reproachאֶשְׁמָעesh/MAI hearוְרוּחַve/RU/achand a spiritמִבִּינָתִיmib/bi/na/TIfrom my understandingיַעֲנֵנִי׃ya/a/NE/nianswers me

   I have heard the check of my reproach, and the spirit of my understanding causeth me to answer.

   הֲזֹאתha/ZOTthisיָדַעְתָּya/DA/tado you knowמִנִּי־עַדmin/NI-adof oldמִנִּיmin/NIsinceשִׂיםsimwas placedאָדָםa/DAMmanעֲלֵי־אָרֶץ׃a/LE-A/retson the earth

   Knowest thou not this of old, since man was placed upon earth,

   כִּיkiforרִנְנַתrin/NATthe exulting ofרְשָׁעִיםre/sha/IMthe wickedמִקָּרוֹבmik/ka/ROVis shortוְשִׂמְחַתve/sim/CHATand the joy ofחָנֵףcha/NEFthe godlessעֲדֵי־רָגַע׃a/DE-ra/GAbut for a moment

   That the triumphing of the wicked is short, and the joy of the hypocrite but for a moment?

6. 6

   אִם־יַעֲלֶהim-ya/a/LEthough risesלַשָּׁמַיִםlash/sha/MA/yimto the heavensשִׂיאוֹsi/Ohis heightוְרֹאשׁוֹve/ro/SHOand his headלָעָבla/AVto the cloudsיַגִּיעַ׃yag/GI/areaches

   Though his excellency mount up to the heavens, and his head reach unto the clouds;

   כְּגֶלְלוֹke/gel/LOlike his own dungלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverיֹאבֵדyo/VEDhe perishesרֹאָיוro/AYVthose who have seen himיֹאמְרוּyo/me/RUshall sayאַיּוֹ׃ay/YOwhere is he

   Yet he shall perish for ever like his own dung: they which have seen him shall say, Where is he?

8. 8

   כַּחֲלוֹםka/cha/LOMlike a dreamיָעוּףya/UFhe shall fly awayוְלֹאve/LOand notיִמְצָאוּהוּyim/tsa/U/huthey will find himוְיֻדַּדve/yud/DADand he is chased awayכְּחֶזְיוֹןke/chez/YONlike a vision ofלָיְלָה׃LAY/lathe night

   He shall fly away as a dream, and shall not be found: yea, he shall be chased away as a vision of the night.

9. 9

   עַיִןA/yinthe eyeשְׁזָפַתּוּshe/za/FAT/tuthat glimpsed himוְלֹאve/LOand notתוֹסִיףto/SIFwill againוְלֹא־עוֹדve/LO-odand no moreתְּשׁוּרֶנּוּte/shu/REN/nuwill behold himמְקוֹמוֹ׃me/ko/MOhis place

   The eye also which saw him shall see him no more; neither shall his place any more behold him.

10. 10

    בָּנָיוba/NAYVhis sonsיְרַצּוּye/rats/TSUwill seek the favor ofדַלִּיםdal/LIMthe poorוְיָדָיוve/ya/DAYVand his handsתָּשֵׁבְנָהta/SHEV/nawill give backאוֹנוֹ׃o/NOhis wealth

    His children shall seek to please the poor, and his hands shall restore their goods.

11. 11

    עַצְמוֹתָיוats/mo/TAYVhis bonesמָלְאוּma/le/Uare full ofעֲלוּמָוa/lu/MAVhis youthful vigorוְעִמּוֹve/im/MObut with himעַל־עָפָרal-a/FARin the dustתִּשְׁכָּב׃tish/KAVit will lie down

    His bones are full of the sin of his youth, which shall lie down with him in the dust.

12. 12

    אִם־תַּמְתִּיקim-tam/TIKthough is sweetבְּפִיוbe/FIVin his mouthרָעָהra/Aevilיַכְחִידֶנָּהyakh/chi/DEN/nahe hides itתַּחַתTA/chatunderלְשֹׁנוֹ׃le/sho/NOhis tongue

    Though wickedness be sweet in his mouth, though he hide it under his tongue;

13. 13

    יַחְמֹלyach/MOLhe sparesעָלֶיהָa/LE/haitוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעַזְבֶנָּהya/az/VEN/naforsake itוְיִמְנָעֶנָּהve/yim/na/EN/naand holds it backבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHinחִכּוֹ׃chik/KOhis palate

    Though he spare it, and forsake it not; but keep it still within his mouth:

    לַחְמוֹlach/MOhis breadבְּמֵעָיוbe/me/AYVin his stomachנֶהְפָּךְneh/PAKHis turnedמְרוֹרַתme/ro/RATthe gall ofפְּתָנִיםpe/ta/NIMcobrasבְּקִרְבּוֹ׃be/kir/BOwithin him

    Yet his meat in his bowels is turned, it is the gall of asps within him.

15. 15

    חַיִלCHA/yilrichesבָּלַעBA/lahe swallowsוַיְקִאֶנּוּvay/ki/EN/nuand vomits it upמִבִּטְנוֹmib/bit/NOfrom his bellyיֹרִשֶׁנּוּyo/ri/SHEN/nuwill drive it outאֵל׃elGod

    He hath swallowed down riches, and he shall vomit them up again: God shall cast them out of his belly.

16. 16

    רֹאשׁ־פְּתָנִיםrosh-pe/ta/NIMthe venom of cobrasיִינָקyi/NAKhe will suckתַּהַרְגֵהוּta/har/GE/huwill slay himלְשׁוֹןle/SHONthe tongue ofאֶפְעֶה׃ef/Ethe viper

    He shall suck the poison of asps: the viper's tongue shall slay him.

17. 17

    אַל־יֵרֶאal-YE/rehe will not lookבִפְלַגּוֹתvif/lag/GOTon the streamsנַהֲרֵיna/ha/REthe riversנַחֲלֵיNA/cha/letorrents ofדְּבַשׁde/VASHhoneyוְחֶמְאָה׃ve/chem/Aand butter

    He shall not see the rivers, the floods, the brooks of honey and butter.

18. 18

    מֵשִׁיבme/SHIVhe gives backיָגָעya/GAthe fruit of toilוְלֹאve/LOand notיִבְלָעyiv/LAswallow itכְּחֵילke/CHELaccording to the wealth ofתְּמוּרָתוֹte/mu/ra/TOhis tradingוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעֲלֹס׃ya/a/LOSrejoice

    That which he laboured for shall he restore, and shall not swallow it down: according to his substance shall the restitution be, and he shall not rejoice therein.

19. 19

    כִּי־רִצַּץki-rits/TSATSfor he has crushedעָזַבa/ZAVabandonedדַּלִּיםdal/LIMthe poorבַּיִתBA/yita houseגָּזַלga/ZALhe has seizedוְלֹאve/LOand notיִבְנֵהוּ׃yiv/ne/HUbuild it

    Because he hath oppressed and hath forsaken the poor; because he hath violently taken away an house which he builded not;

20. 20

    כִּיkibecauseלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAhe did not knowשָׁלֵוsha/LEVquietבְּבִטְנוֹbe/vit/NOin his bellyבַּחֲמוּדוֹba/cha/mu/DOof what he delights inלֹאlonotיְמַלֵּט׃ye/mal/LETwill he save

    Surely he shall not feel quietness in his belly, he shall not save of that which he desired.

21. 21

    אֵין־שָׂרִידen-sa/RIDnothing is leftלְאׇכְלוֹle/okh/LOfor him to eatעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeלֹא־יָחִילlo-ya/CHILwill not endureטוּבוֹ׃tu/VOhis prosperity

    There shall none of his meat be left; therefore shall no man look for his goods.

22. 22

    בִּמְלֹאותbim/LOTin the fullness ofשִׂפְקוֹsif/KOhis sufficiencyיֵצֶרYE/tserhe shall be in straitsלוֹloto himכׇּל־יַדkol-yadevery hand ofעָמֵלa/MELthe miserableתְּבֹאֶנּוּ׃te/vo/en/NUshall come upon him

    In the fulness of his sufficiency he shall be in straits: every hand of the wicked shall come upon him.

23. 23

    יְהִיye/HIwhenלְמַלֵּאle/mal/LEto fillבִטְנוֹvit/NOhis bellyיְשַׁלַּח־בּוֹye/shal/LACH-boHe will send on himחֲרוֹןcha/RONthe fierceness ofאַפּוֹap/POHis angerוְיַמְטֵרve/yam/TERand will rainעָלֵימוֹa/LE/moon themבִּלְחוּמוֹ׃bil/chu/MOas his food

    When he is about to fill his belly, God shall cast the fury of his wrath upon him, and shall rain it upon him while he is eating.

24. 24

    יִבְרַחyiv/RACHhe shall fleeמִנֵּשֶׁקmin/NE/shekfrom the weapon ofבַּרְזֶלbar/ZELironתַּחְלְפֵהוּtach/le/FE/huwill pierce himקֶשֶׁתKE/sheta bow ofנְחוּשָׁה׃ne/chu/SHAbronze

    He shall flee from the iron weapon, and the bow of steel shall strike him through.

25. 25

    שָׁלַףsha/LAFhe draws itוַיֵּצֵאvay/ye/TSEand it comes outמִגֵּוָהmig/ge/VAfrom his backוּבָרָקu/va/RAKand the glittering pointמִמְּרֹרָתוֹmim/me/ro/ra/TOfrom his gallיַהֲלֹךְya/ha/LOKHgoesעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himאֵמִים׃e/MIMterrors

    It is drawn, and cometh out of the body; yea, the glittering sword cometh out of his gall: terrors are upon him.

26. 26

    כׇּל־חֹשֶׁךְkol-CHO/shekhall darknessטָמוּןta/MUNis laid upלִצְפּוּנָיוlits/pu/NAYVfor his treasuresתְּאׇכְלֵהוּte/okh/le/HUit will consume himאֵשׁeshfireלֹא־נֻפָּחlo-nup/PACHnot fannedיֵרַעye/RAwill devourשָׂרִידsa/RIDwhat is leftבְּאׇהֳלוֹ׃be/o/ho/LOin his tent

    All darkness shall be hid in his secret places: a fire not blown shall consume him; it shall go ill with him that is left in his tabernacle.

27. 27

    יְגַלּוּye/gal/LUwill revealשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensעֲוֺנוֹa/vo/NOhis iniquityוְאֶרֶץve/E/retsand the earthמִתְקוֹמָמָהmit/ko/ma/MAwill rise upלוֹ׃loagainst him

    The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

28. 28

    יִגֶלYI/gelwill departיְבוּלye/VULthe increase ofבֵּיתוֹbe/TOhis houseנִגָּרוֹתnig/ga/ROTflowing awayבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofאַפּוֹ׃ap/POHis wrath

    The increase of his house shall depart, and his goods shall flow away in the day of his wrath.

29. 29

    זֶהzethisחֵלֶק־אָדָםCHE/lek-a/DAMthe portion of a manרָשָׁעra/SHAwickedמֵאֱלֹהִיםme/e/lo/HIMfrom Godוְנַחֲלַתve/na/cha/LATand the heritageאִמְרוֹim/ROdecreed for himמֵאֵל׃me/ELfrom God

    This is the portion of a wicked man from God, and the heritage appointed unto him by God.
