Job 14 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ד

   אָדָםa/DAMmanיְלוּדye/LUDborn ofאִשָּׁהish/SHAa womanקְצַרke/TSARis of fewיָמִיםya/MIMdaysוּשְׂבַע־רֹגֶז׃u/se/VA-RO/gezand full of trouble

   Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.

2. 2

   כְּצִיץke/TSITSlike a flowerיָצָאya/TSAhe comes forthוַיִּמָּלvay/yim/MALand withersוַיִּבְרַחvay/yiv/RACHand he fleesכַּצֵּלkats/TSELas a shadowוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעֲמוֹד׃ya/a/MODendures

   He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: he fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

   אַף־עַל־זֶהaf-al-zeeven upon suchפָּקַחְתָּpa/KACH/tado You openעֵינֶךָe/NE/khaYour eyesוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand meתָבִיאta/VIdo You bringבְמִשְׁפָּטve/mish/PATin judgmentעִמָּךְ׃im/MAKHwith You

   And dost thou open thine eyes upon such an one, and bringest me into judgment with thee?

   מִי־יִתֵּןmi-yit/TENwho can bringטָהוֹרta/HORcleanמִטָּמֵאmit/ta/MEout of the uncleanלֹאlonoאֶחָד׃e/CHADone

   Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

5. 5

   אִם־חֲרוּצִיםim-cha/ru/TSIMsince are determinedיָמָיוya/MAYVhis daysמִסְפַּר־חֳדָשָׁיוmis/PAR-cho/da/SHAYVthe number of his monthsאִתָּךְit/TAKHare with Youחֻקָּוchuk/KAVhis limitsעָשִׂיתָa/SI/taYou have setוְלֹאve/LOand notיַעֲבֹר׃ya/a/VORhe can pass

   Seeing his days are determined, the number of his months are with thee, thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

   שְׁעֵהshe/Elook awayמֵעָלָיוme/a/LAYVfrom himוְיֶחְדָּלve/yech/DALthat he may restעַד־יִרְצֶהad-yir/TSEuntil he enjoysכְּשָׂכִירke/sa/KHIRlike a hired manיוֹמוֹ׃yo/MOhis day

   Turn from him, that he may rest, till he shall accomplish, as an hireling, his day.

   כִּיkiforיֵשׁyeshthere isלָעֵץla/ETSto the treeתִּקְוָהtik/VAhopeאִם־יִכָּרֵתim-yik/ka/RETif it be cut downוְעוֹדve/ODand againיַחֲלִיףya/cha/LIFit will sproutוְיֹנַקְתּוֹve/yo/nak/TOand its tender shootלֹאlonotתֶחְדָּל׃tech/DALwill cease

   For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

   אִם־יַזְקִיןim-yaz/KINthough grows oldבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthשׇׁרְשׁוֹshor/SHOits rootוּבֶעָפָרu/ve/a/FARand in the dustיָמוּתya/MUTdiesגִּזְעוֹ׃giz/Oits stump

   Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, and the stock thereof die in the ground;

   מֵרֵיחַme/RE/achfrom the scent ofמַיִםMA/yimwaterיַפְרִחַyaf/RI/achit will budוְעָשָׂהve/a/SAand put forthקָצִירka/TSIRbranchesכְּמוֹ־נָטַע׃ke/MO-na/TAlike a young plant

   Yet through the scent of water it will bud, and bring forth boughs like a plant.

    וְגֶבֶרve/GE/verand a manיָמוּתya/MUTdiesוַיֶּחֱלָשׁvay/ye/che/LASHand is laid lowוַיִּגְוַעvay/yig/VAand breathes his lastאָדָםa/DAMa manוְאַיּוֹ׃ve/ay/YOand where is he

    But man dieth, and wasteth away: yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

11. 11

    אָזְלוּ־מַיִםa/ze/LU-MA/yimthe waters failמִנִּי־יָםmin/NI-yamfrom the seaוְנָהָרve/na/HARand a riverיֶחֱרַבye/che/RAVis drainedוְיָבֵשׁ׃ve/ya/VESHand dries up

    As the waters fail from the sea, and the flood decayeth and drieth up:

12. 12

    וְאִישׁve/ISHand a manשָׁכַבsha/KHAVlies downוְלֹא־יָקוּםve/LO-ya/KUMand does not riseעַד־בִּלְתִּיad-bil/TItill are no moreשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensלֹאlonotיָקִיצוּya/KI/tsuthey will awakeוְלֹא־יֵעֹרוּve/LO-ye/O/runor be rousedמִשְּׁנָתָם׃mish/she/na/TAMfrom their sleep

    So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

    מִיmiwhoיִתֵּןyit/TENwould grantבִּשְׁאוֹלBish/OLin Sheolתַּצְפִּנֵנִיtats/pi/NE/niYou would hide meתַּסְתִּירֵנִיtas/ti/RE/niYou would conceal meעַד־שׁוּבad-shuvuntil is pastאַפֶּךָap/PE/khaYour wrathתָּשִׁית־לִיta/SHIT-liYou would set meחֹקchokan appointed timeוְתִזְכְּרֵנִי׃ve/tiz/ke/RE/niand remember me

    O that thou wouldest hide me in the grave, that thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, that thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me!

14. 14

    אִם־יָמוּתim-ya/MUTif diesגֶּבֶרGE/vera manהֲיִחְיֶהha/yich/YEwill he liveכׇּל־יְמֵיkol-ye/MEall the days ofצְבָאִיtse/va/Imy serviceאֲיַחֵלa/ya/CHELI will waitעַד־בּוֹאad-bountil the coming ofחֲלִיפָתִי׃cha/li/fa/TImy change

    If a man die, shall he live again? all the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come.

    תִּקְרָאtik/RAyou callוְאָנֹכִיve/a/no/KHIyet Iאֶעֱנֶךָּe/e/NEK/kaI will answer Youלְמַעֲשֵׂהle/ma/a/SEto the work ofיָדֶיךָya/DE/khaYour handsתִכְסֹף׃tikh/SOFYou will long

    Thou shalt call, and I will answer thee: thou wilt have a desire to the work of thine hands.

16. 16

    כִּי־עַתָּהki-at/TAfor nowצְעָדַיtse/a/DAYmy stepsתִּסְפּוֹרtis/PORYou numberלֹא־תִשְׁמֹרlo-tish/MORYou do not keep watchעַל־חַטָּאתִי׃al-chat/ta/TIover my sin

    For now thou numberest my steps: dost thou not watch over my sin?

17. 17

    חָתֻםcha/TUMis sealedבִּצְרוֹרbits/RORin a bagפִּשְׁעִיpish/Imy transgressionוַתִּטְפֹּלvat/tit/POLand You cover overעַל־עֲוֺנִי׃al-a/vo/NImy iniquity

    My transgression is sealed up in a bag, and thou sewest up mine iniquity.

18. 18

    וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutהַר־נוֹפֵלhar-no/FELa mountain fallingיִבּוֹלyib/BOLcrumblesוְצוּרve/TSURand a rockיֶעְתַּקye/TAKis removedמִמְּקֹמוֹ׃mim/me/ko/MOfrom its place

    And surely the mountain falling cometh to nought, and the rock is removed out of his place.

19. 19

    אֲבָנִיםa/va/NIMstonesשָׁחֲקוּSHA/cha/kuwear awayמַיִםMA/yimwaterתִּשְׁטֹף־סְפִיחֶיהָtish/TOF-se/fi/CHE/haits torrents wash awayעֲפַר־אָרֶץa/FAR-A/retsthe dust of the earthוְתִקְוַתve/tik/VATand hope ofאֱנוֹשׁe/NOSHmanהֶאֱבַדְתָּ׃he/e/VAD/taYou destroy

    The waters wear the stones: thou washest away the things which grow out of the dust of the earth; and thou destroyest the hope of man.

20. 20

    תִּתְקְפֵהוּtit/ke/FE/huyou overpower himלָנֶצַחla/NE/tsachforeverוַיַּהֲלֹךְvay/ya/ha/LOKHand he passesמְשַׁנֶּהme/shan/NEYou changeפָנָיוfa/NAYVhis faceוַתְּשַׁלְּחֵהוּ׃vat/te/shal/le/CHE/huand send him away

    Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth: thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

21. 21

    יִכְבְּדוּyikh/be/DUthey are honoredבָנָיוva/NAYVhis sonsוְלֹאve/LOand notיֵדָעye/DAhe knowsוְיִצְעֲרוּve/yits/a/RUand they are brought lowוְלֹא־יָבִיןve/LO-ya/VINand he does not perceiveלָמוֹ׃LA/moit

    His sons come to honour, and he knoweth it not; and they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

22. 22

    אַךְ־בְּשָׂרוֹakh-be/sa/RObut his fleshעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himיִכְאָבyikh/AVfeels painוְנַפְשׁוֹve/naf/SHOand his soulעָלָיוa/LAYVupon himתֶּאֱבָל׃te/e/VALmourns

    But his flesh upon him shall have pain, and his soul within him shall mourn.
