Job 13 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ג

1. 1

   הֶן־כֹּלbehold allרָאֲתָהshe sawעֵינִיmy eyeשָׁמְעָהshe heardאׇזְנִיmy earוַתָּבֶןand understoodלָהּ׃to her

   Lo, mine eye hath seen all this, mine ear hath heard and understood it.

2. 2

   כְּדַעְתְּכֶםlike your knowledgeיָדַעְתִּיI knowגַם־אָנִיalso Iלֹא־נֹפֵלI am not inferiorאָנֹכִיIמִכֶּם׃from you

   What ye know, the same do I know also: I am not inferior unto you.

3. 3

   אוּלָםneverthelessאֲנִיIאֶל־שַׁדַּיto AlmightyאֲדַבֵּרI speakוְהוֹכֵחַand to reasonאֶל־אֵלunto Godאֶחְפָּץ׃I desire

   Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

   וְאוּלָםneverthelessאַתֶּםyou areטֹפְלֵי־שָׁקֶרforgers of liesרֹפְאֵיphysicians ofאֱלִלof no valueכֻּלְּכֶם׃all you

   But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value.

5. 5

   מִי־יִתֵּןoh thatהַחֲרֵשׁaltogetherתַּחֲרִישׁוּןwould hold your peaceוּתְהִיand it should beלָכֶםto youלְחׇכְמָה׃to wisdom

   O that ye would altogether hold your peace! and it should be your wisdom.

   שִׁמְעוּ־נָאhear you nowתוֹכַחְתִּיmy reasoningוְרִבוֹתand the pleadings ofשְׂפָתַיmy lipsהַקְשִׁיבוּ׃hearken

   Hear now my reasoning, and hearken to the pleadings of my lips.

7. 7

   הַלְאֵלis it for Godתְּדַבְּרוּyou will they spokeעַוְלָהinjusticeוְלוֹand for himתְּדַבְּרוּyou will they spokeרְמִיָּה׃deceit

   Will ye speak wickedly for God? and talk deceitfully for him?

8. 8

   הֲפָנָיוhis personתִּשָּׂאוּןwill you lift upאִם־לָאֵלor for Godתְּרִיבוּן׃will you contend

   Will ye accept his person? will ye contend for God?

9. 9

   הֲטוֹבis it betterכִּי־יַחְקֹרthat he should search outאֶתְכֶםyouאִם־כְּהָתֵלor as one mocksבֶּאֱנוֹשׁanotherתְּהָתֵלּוּdo you so mockבוֹ׃in him

   Is it good that he should search you out? or as one man mocketh another, do ye so mock him?

10. 10

    הוֹכֵחַsurelyיוֹכִיחַshall he reproveאֶתְכֶםyouאִם־בַּסֵּתֶרif in secretפָּנִיםpersonsתִּשָּׂאוּן׃will you lift up

    He will surely reprove you, if ye do secretly accept persons.

11. 11

    הֲלֹאis it notשְׂאֵתוֹhis excellencyתְּבַעֵתmake you afraidאֶתְכֶםyouוּפַחְדּוֹand his dreadיִפֹּלshall fallעֲלֵיכֶם׃over you

    Shall not his excellency make you afraid? and his dread fall upon you?

12. 12

    זִכְרֹנֵיכֶםyour remembrancesמִשְׁלֵי־אֵפֶרare like unto ashesלְגַבֵּי־חֹמֶרto bodies of clayגַּבֵּיכֶם׃your bodies

    Your remembrances are like unto ashes, your bodies to bodies of clay.

13. 13

    הַחֲרִישׁוּhold your peaceמִמֶּנִּיfrom meוַאֲדַבְּרָה־אָנִיthat I may speakוְיַעֲבֹרand let comeעָלַיagainst meמָה׃what

    Hold your peace, let me alone, that I may speak, and let come on me what will.

14. 14

    עַל־מָהupon whatאֶשָּׂאI carryבְשָׂרִיmy fleshבְשִׁנָּיin my teethוְנַפְשִׁיand my soulאָשִׂיםshall I putבְּכַפִּי׃in my palm

    Wherefore do I take my flesh in my teeth, and put my life in mine hand?

15. 15

    הֵןbeholdיִקְטְלֵנִיhe will kill me(לא)[לוֹ]to himאֲיַחֵלI will waitאַךְ־דְּרָכַיbut my waysאֶל־פָּנָיוbefore himאוֹכִיחַ׃I will maintain

    Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

16. 16

    גַּם־הוּא־לִיhe also shall be to meלִישׁוּעָהunto salvationכִּי־לֹאthat notלְפָנָיוbefore himחָנֵףa hypocriteיָבוֹא׃shall come

    He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

17. 17

    שִׁמְעוּhearשָׁמוֹעַdiligentlyמִלָּתִיmy speechוְאַחֲוָתִיand my declarationבְּאׇזְנֵיכֶם׃in your ears

    Hear diligently my speech, and my declaration with your ears.

18. 18

    הִנֵּה־נָאbehold I prayעָרַכְתִּיI have orderedמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentיָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּי־אֲנִיthat I amאֶצְדָּק׃I shall be justified

    Behold now, I have ordered my cause; I know that I shall be justified.

19. 19

    מִי־הוּאwho it isיָרִיבwho pleads the cause ofעִמָּדִיwith meכִּי־עַתָּהbecause nowאַחֲרִישׁif I hold my tongueוְאֶגְוָע׃I shall give up the ghost

    Who is he that will plead with me? for now, if I hold my tongue, I shall give up the ghost.

20. 20

    אַךְ־שְׁתַּיִםbut twoאַל־תַּעַשׂdo notעִמָּדִיwith meאָזthenמִפָּנֶיךָfrom before youלֹאnotאֶסָּתֵר׃I will be hidden

    Only do not two things unto me: then will I not hide myself from thee.

21. 21

    כַּפְּךָyour handמֵעָלַיfrom meהַרְחַקput far awayוְאֵמָתְךָand your dreadאַל־תְּבַעֲתַנִּי׃let not make me afraid

    Withdraw thine hand far from me: and let not thy dread make me afraid.

22. 22

    וּקְרָאand callוְאָנֹכִיyet IאֶעֱנֶהI will answerאוֹ־אֲדַבֵּרor I speakוַהֲשִׁיבֵנִי׃and answer me

    Then call thou, and I will answer: or let me speak, and answer thou me.

23. 23

    כַּמָּהhow manyלִיto meעֲוֺנוֹתare my iniquitiesוְחַטָּאוֹתand sinsפִּשְׁעִיmy transgressionוְחַטָּאתִיand my sinהֹדִיעֵנִי׃make known to me

    How many are mine iniquities and sins? make me to know my transgression and my sin.

24. 24

    לָמָּה־פָנֶיךָwhy your faceתַסְתִּירdo you hideוְתַחְשְׁבֵנִיand hold me forלְאוֹיֵבyour enemyלָךְ׃to you

    Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

25. 25

    הֶעָלֶהa leafנִדָּףdrivenתַּעֲרוֹץwill you breakוְאֶת־קַשׁand the stubbleיָבֵשׁthe dryתִּרְדֹּף׃you pursue

    Wilt thou break a leaf driven to and fro? and wilt thou pursue the dry stubble?

26. 26

    כִּי־תִכְתֹּבthat shall you writeעָלַיupon meמְרֹרוֹתbitter thingsוְתוֹרִישֵׁנִיand make me to possessעֲוֺנוֹתthe iniquities ofנְעוּרָי׃my youth

    For thou writest bitter things against me, and makest me to possess the iniquities of my youth.

27. 27

    וְתָשֵׂםand you putבַּסַּדin the stocksרַגְלַיfeet ofוְתִשְׁמוֹרand look narrowly untoכׇּל־אׇרְחוֹתָיall my pathsעַל־שׇׁרְשֵׁיupon the heels ofרַגְלַיfeet ofתִּתְחַקֶּה׃you set a print

    Thou puttest my feet also in the stocks, and lookest narrowly unto all my paths; thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet.

28. 28

    וְהוּאand heכְּרָקָבlike rottennessיִבְלֶהconsumesכְּבֶגֶדas a garmentאֲכָלוֹthat eats itעָשׁ׃the moth

    And he, as a rotten thing, consumeth, as a garment that is moth eaten.
