Job 12 אִיּוֹב פרק י״ב

   וַיַּעַןvay/YA/anand he answeredאִיּוֹבIy/YOVJobוַיֹּאמַר׃vay/yo/MARand said

   And Job answered and said,

   אׇמְנָםom/NAMtrulyכִּיkino doubtאַתֶּם־עָםat/TEM-amyou are the peopleוְעִמָּכֶםve/im/ma/KHEMand with youתָּמוּתta/MUTwill dieחׇכְמָה׃chokh/MAwisdom

   No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

   גַּם־לִיgam-liI also haveלֵבָבle/VAVunderstandingכְּמוֹכֶםke/mo/KHEMlike youלֹא־נֹפֵלlo-no/FELI am not inferiorאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמִכֶּםmik/KEMto youוְאֶת־מִי־אֵיןve/ET-mi-enand who does not knowכְּמוֹ־אֵלֶּה׃ke/MO-EL/lesuch things as these

   But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?

   שְׂחֹקse/CHOKa laughingstockלְרֵעֵהוּle/re/E/huto his neighborאֶהְיֶהeh/YEI amקֹרֵאko/REwho calledלֶאֱלוֹהַּle/e/LO/ahto Godוַיַּעֲנֵהוּvay/ya/a/NE/huand He answered himשְׂחוֹקse/CHOKa laughingstockצַדִּיקtsad/DIKthe righteousתָּמִים׃ta/MIMblameless

   I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.

   לַפִּידlap/PIDfor misfortuneבּוּזbuzdespisedלְעַשְׁתּוּתle/ash/TUTin the thought ofשַׁאֲנָןsha/a/NANone at easeנָכוֹןna/KHONit is readyלְמוֹעֲדֵיle/MO/a/defor those slipping ofרָגֶל׃RA/gelfoot

   He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.

   יִשְׁלָיוּyish/LA/yuare at peaceאֹהָלִיםo/ha/LIMthe tentsלְשֹׁדְדִיםle/shod/DIMof robbersוּבַטֻּחוֹתu/vat/tu/CHOTand securityלְמַרְגִּיזֵיle/mar/GI/zefor those who provokeאֵלelGodלַאֲשֶׁרla/a/SHERto him whoהֵבִיאhe/VIbringsאֱלוֹהַּe/LO/ahGodבְּיָדוֹ׃be/ya/DOin his hand

   The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.

   וְאוּלָםve/u/LAMbutשְׁאַל־נָאshe/AL-naask nowבְהֵמוֹתve/he/MOTthe beastsוְתֹרֶךָּve/to/REK/kaand they will teach youוְעוֹףve/OFand the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְיַגֶּד־לָךְ׃ve/yag/GED-lakhand they will tell you

   But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:

   אוֹoorשִׂיחַSI/achspeakלָאָרֶץla/A/retsto the groundוְתֹרֶךָּve/to/REK/kaand it will teach youוִיסַפְּרוּvi/sap/pe/RUand will declareלְךָle/KHAto youדְּגֵיde/GEthe fish ofהַיָּם׃hay/YAMthe sea

   Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.

   מִיmiwhoלֹא־יָדַעlo-ya/DAdoes not knowבְּכׇל־אֵלֶּהbe/KHOL-EL/leamong all theseכִּיkithatיַד־יְהֹוָהyad-Adonaithe hand of the LORDעָשְׂתָהa/se/TAhas doneזֹּאת׃zotthis

   Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?

10. 10

    אֲשֶׁרa/SHERin whoseבְּיָדוֹbe/ya/DOhand isנֶפֶשׁNE/feshthe life ofכׇּל־חָיkol-chayevery living thingוְרוּחַve/RU/achand the breath ofכׇּל־בְּשַׂר־אִישׁ׃kol-be/SAR-ishof all mankind

    In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.

11. 11

    הֲלֹא־אֹזֶןha/LO-O/zendoes not the earמִלִּיןmil/LINwordsתִּבְחָןtiv/CHANtryוְחֵךְve/CHEKHand the palateאֹכֶלO/khelfoodיִטְעַם־לוֹ׃yit/AM-lotaste for itself

    Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?

12. 12

    בִּישִׁישִׁיםbi/shi/SHIMwith the aged isחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוְאֹרֶךְve/O/rekhand length ofיָמִיםya/MIMdaysתְּבוּנָה׃te/vu/NAunderstanding

    With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.

13. 13

    עִמּוֹim/MOwith Him isחׇכְמָהchokh/MAwisdomוּגְבוּרָהu/ge/vu/RAand mightלוֹloHe hasעֵצָהe/TSAcounselוּתְבוּנָה׃u/te/vu/NAand understanding

    With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.

14. 14

    הֵןhenbeholdיַהֲרוֹסya/ha/ROSHe tears downוְלֹאve/LOand notיִבָּנֶהyib/ba/NEit is rebuiltיִסְגֹּרyis/GORHe shutsעַל־אִישׁal-ishupon a manוְלֹאve/LOand notיִפָּתֵחַ׃yip/pa/TE/achbe opened

    Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.

15. 15

    הֵןhenbeholdיַעְצֹרya/TSORHe withholdsבַּמַּיִםbam/MA/yimthe watersוְיִבָשׁוּve/yi/VA/shuand they dry upוִישַׁלְּחֵםvi/shal/le/CHEMand He sends them outוְיַהַפְכוּ־אָרֶץ׃ve/YA/haf/khu-A/retsand they overturn the earth

    Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.

16. 16

    עִמּוֹim/MOwith Him isעֹזozstrengthוְתוּשִׁיָּהve/tu/shiy/YAand sound wisdomלוֹloHis areשֹׁגֵגsho/GEGthe deceivedוּמַשְׁגֶּה׃u/mash/GEand the deceiver

    With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.

17. 17

    מוֹלִיךְmo/LIKHHe leadsיוֹעֲצִיםyo/a/TSIMcounselorsשׁוֹלָלsho/LALstrippedוְשֹׁפְטִיםve/shof/TIMand judgesיְהוֹלֵל׃ye/ho/LELHe makes fools

    He leadeth counsellors away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.

18. 18

    מוּסַרmu/SARthe bond ofמְלָכִיםme/la/KHIMkingsפִּתֵּחַpit/TE/achHe loosensוַיֶּאְסֹרvay/ye/SORand bindsאֵזוֹרe/ZORa waistclothבְּמׇתְנֵיהֶם׃be/mot/ne/HEMon their loins

    He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

19. 19

    מוֹלִיךְmo/LIKHHe leadsכֹּהֲנִיםko/ha/NIMpriestsשׁוֹלָלsho/LALstrippedוְאֵתָנִיםve/e/ta/NIMand the mightyיְסַלֵּף׃ye/sal/LEFHe overthrows

    He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.

20. 20

    מֵסִירme/SIRHe removesשָׂפָהsa/FAthe speechלְנֶאֱמָנִיםle/ne/e/ma/NIMof the trustedוְטַעַםve/TA/amand the discernment ofזְקֵנִיםze/ke/NIMeldersיִקָּח׃yik/KACHHe takes away

    He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.

21. 21

    שׁוֹפֵךְsho/FEKHHe poursבּוּזbuzcontemptעַל־נְדִיבִיםal-ne/di/VIMon noblesוּמְזִיחַu/me/ZI/achand the belt ofאֲפִיקִיםa/fi/KIMthe strongרִפָּה׃rip/PAHe loosens

    He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.

22. 22

    מְגַלֶּהme/gal/LEHe uncoversעֲמֻקוֹתa/mu/KOTdeep thingsמִנִּי־חֹשֶׁךְmin/NI-CHO/shekhout of darknessוַיֹּצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brings outלָאוֹרla/ORto lightצַלְמָוֶת׃tsal/MA/vetthe shadow of death

    He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.

23. 23

    מַשְׂגִּיאmas/GIHe makes greatלַגּוֹיִםlag/go/YIMthe nationsוַיְאַבְּדֵםvay/ab/be/DEMand destroys themשֹׁטֵחַsho/TE/achhe enlargesלַגּוֹיִםlag/go/YIMthe nationsוַיַּנְחֵם׃vay/yan/CHEMand leads them away

    He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.

24. 24

    מֵסִירme/SIRHe removesלֵבlevthe understanding ofרָאשֵׁיra/SHEthe chiefs ofעַם־הָאָרֶץam-ha/A/retsthe people of the earthוַיַּתְעֵםvay/yat/EMand makes them wanderבְּתֹהוּbe/TO/huin a wasteלֹא־דָרֶךְ׃lo-DA/rekhwithout a way

    He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.

25. 25

    יְמַשְׁשׁוּ־חֹשֶׁךְye/mash/SHU-CHO/shekhthey grope in darknessוְלֹא־אוֹרve/LO-orwithout lightוַיַּתְעֵםvay/yat/EMand He makes them staggerכַּשִּׁכּוֹר׃kash/shik/KORlike the drunkard

    They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.
