Job 11 אִיּוֹב פרק י״א

   וַיַּעַןand he answeredצֹפַרZopharהַנַּעֲמָתִיthe Naamathiteוַיֹּאמַר׃and said

   Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said,

   הֲרֹבis it a multitude ofדְּבָרִיםwordsלֹאnotיֵעָנֶהbe answeredוְאִם־אִישׁand should a manשְׂפָתַיִםlipsיִצְדָּק׃be justified

   Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?

3. 3

   בַּדֶּיךָyour liesמְתִיםmenיַחֲרִישׁוּmake hold their peaceוַתִּלְעַגand when you mockוְאֵיןand there is noמַכְלִם׃shall make you ashamed

   Should thy lies make men hold their peace? and when thou mockest, shall no man make thee ashamed?

   וַתֹּאמֶרand saidזַךְare pureלִקְחִיmy doctrineוּבַרand I am cleanהָיִיתִיI amבְעֵינֶיךָ׃in your eyes

   For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes.

5. 5

   וְאוּלָםneverthelessמִי־יִתֵּןoh thatאֱלוֹהַּGodדַּבֵּרwould speakוְיִפְתַּחand he may openשְׂפָתָיוhis lipsעִמָּךְ׃against you

   But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee;

6. 6

   וְיַגֶּד־לְךָand that he would show youתַּעֲלֻמוֹתthe secrets ofחׇכְמָהwisdomכִּי־כִפְלַיִםthat they are doubleלְתוּשִׁיָּהto that which isוְדַעand knowכִּי־יַשֶּׁהthat exacts of you less thanלְךָfor youאֱלוֹהַּGodמֵעֲוֺנֶךָ׃your iniquity deserves

   And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.

   הַחֵקֶרcan you by searching find outאֱלוֹהַּGodתִּמְצָאcan you find outאִםifעַד־תַּכְלִיתunto perfectionשַׁדַּיAlmightyתִּמְצָא׃can you find out

   Canst thou by searching find out God? canst thou find out the Almighty unto perfection?

8. 8

   גׇּבְהֵיas high asשָׁמַיִםthe heavensמַה־תִּפְעָלwhat will you doעֲמֻקָּהdeeperמִשְּׁאוֹלfrom Sheolמַה־תֵּדָע׃what will you know

   It is as high as heaven; what canst thou do? deeper than hell; what canst thou know?

9. 9

   אֲרֻכָּהlongerמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִדָּהּits measureוּרְחָבָהand broaderמִנִּי־יָם׃than the sea

   The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.

10. 10

    אִם־יַחֲלֹףif he cut offוְיַסְגִּירand he may shut upוְיַקְהִילor gather togetherוּמִיand whosoיְשִׁיבֶנּוּ׃can hinder him

    If he cut off, and shut up, or gather together, then who can hinder him?

11. 11

    כִּי־הוּאbecause it isיָדַעhe knewמְתֵי־שָׁוְאvain menוַיַּרְא־אָוֶןand he saw iniquityוְלֹאand notיִתְבּוֹנָן׃will he not then consider it

    For he knoweth vain men: he seeth wickedness also; will he not then consider it?

12. 12

    וְאִישׁand a manנָבוּבvainיִלָּבֵבwould be wiseוְעַיִרand like a colt ofפֶּרֶאa wild assאָדָםmanיִוָּלֵד׃he shall be born

    For vain man would be wise, though man be born like a wild ass's colt.

13. 13

    אִם־אַתָּהif youהֲכִינוֹתָyou preparedלִבֶּךָyour heartוּפָרַשְׂתָּand you will spread outאֵלָיוto himכַּפֶּיךָ׃your hands

    If thou prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him;

14. 14

    אִם־אָוֶןif iniquityבְּיָדְךָin your handהַרְחִיקֵהוּput far away itוְאַל־תַּשְׁכֵּןand let not dwellבְּאֹהָלֶיךָin your tentsעַוְלָה׃injustice

    If iniquity be in thine hand, put it far away, and let not wickedness dwell in thy tabernacles.

15. 15

    כִּי־אָזbecause thenתִּשָּׂאshall you lift upפָנֶיךָyour faceמִמּוּםwithout spotוְהָיִיתָand you shall beמֻצָקsteadfastוְלֹאand notתִירָא׃you shall be afraid

    For then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear:

16. 16

    כִּי־אַתָּהthat youעָמָלyour miseryתִּשְׁכָּחyou will forgetכְּמַיִםlike watersעָבְרוּpassedתִזְכֹּר׃and remember it

    Because thou shalt forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:

17. 17

    וּמִצׇּהֳרַיִםthan the noondayיָקוּםshall be clearerחָלֶדyour ageתָּעֻפָהyou shall shine forthכַּבֹּקֶרlike the morningתִּהְיֶה׃shall be

    And thine age shall be clearer than the noonday; thou shalt shine forth, thou shalt be as the morning.

18. 18

    וּבָטַחְתָּand you will be secureכִּי־יֵשׁthat there isתִּקְוָהhopeוְחָפַרְתָּyea you shall dig about youלָבֶטַחin safetyתִּשְׁכָּב׃you will lie down

    And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt dig about thee, and thou shalt take thy rest in safety.

19. 19

    וְרָבַצְתָּand you will lie downוְאֵיןand there is noמַחֲרִידone who terrifiesוְחִלּוּand shall make suit untoפָנֶיךָyour faceרַבִּים׃many

    Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.

20. 20

    וְעֵינֵיbut the eyes ofרְשָׁעִיםwicked menתִּכְלֶינָהthey will failוּמָנוֹסand they shall not escapeאָבַדperishedמִנְהֶםfrom themוְתִקְוָתָםand their hopeמַפַּח־נָפֶשׁ׃the giving up of the ghost

    But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost.
