Job 10 אִיּוֹב פרק י׳

1. 1

   נָקְטָהis wearyנַפְשִׁיmy soulבְּחַיָּיof my lifeאֶעֶזְבָהI will leaveעָלַיupon myselfשִׂיחִיmy complaintאֲדַבְּרָהlet me speakבְּמַרin the bitterness ofנַפְשִׁי׃my soul

   My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

2. 2

   אֹמַרI sayאֶל־אֱלוֹהַּto Godאַל־תַּרְשִׁיעֵנִיdo not condemn meהוֹדִיעֵנִיmake known to meעַלuponמַה־תְּרִיבֵנִי׃what do you contend with me

   I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; shew me wherefore thou contendest with me.

   הֲטוֹבis it betterלְךָfor youכִּי־תַעֲשֹׁקthat you will oppressכִּי־תִמְאַסthat you will rejectיְגִיעַthe work ofכַּפֶּיךָyour handsוְעַל־עֲצַתand upon the plan ofרְשָׁעִיםwicked menהוֹפָעְתָּ׃you shine

   Is it good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked?

   הַעֵינֵיthe eyes ofבָשָׂרfleshלָךְto youאִם־כִּרְאוֹתif when sawאֱנוֹשׁmanתִּרְאֶה׃you shall see

   Hast thou eyes of flesh? or seest thou as man seeth?

5. 5

   הֲכִימֵיis it like the days ofאֱנוֹשׁmanיָמֶיךָyour daysאִם־שְׁנוֹתֶיךָare your yearsכִּימֵיas days ofגָבֶר׃man's

   Are thy days as the days of man? are thy years as man's days,

6. 6

   כִּי־תְבַקֵּשׁthat you will seekלַעֲוֺנִיfor my iniquityוּלְחַטָּאתִיand for my sinתִדְרוֹשׁ׃you will search

   That thou enquirest after mine iniquity, and searchest after my sin?

7. 7

   עַל־דַּעְתְּךָyou knowכִּי־לֹאthat notאֶרְשָׁעI will be guiltyוְאֵיןand there is noמִיָּדְךָfrom your handמַצִּיל׃that can deliver

   Thou knowest that I am not wicked; and there is none that can deliver out of thine hand.

8. 8

   יָדֶיךָyour handsעִצְּבוּנִיthey formed meוַיַּעֲשׂוּנִיand they made meיַחַדtogetherסָבִיבall aroundוַתְּבַלְּעֵנִי׃yet you destroy me

   Thine hands have made me and fashioned me together round about; yet thou dost destroy me.

9. 9

   זְכׇר־נָאremember I beseech youכִּי־כַחֹמֶרbecause like clayעֲשִׂיתָנִיyou made meוְאֶל־עָפָרand to the earthתְּשִׁיבֵנִי׃will you bring me again

   Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

10. 10

    הֲלֹאis it notכֶחָלָבlike milkתַּתִּיכֵנִיhave you poured me outוְכַגְּבִנָּהand like the cheeseתַּקְפִּיאֵנִי׃curdled me

    Hast thou not poured me out as milk, and curdled me like cheese?

11. 11

    עוֹרa skin ofוּבָשָׂרand fleshתַּלְבִּישֵׁנִיyou have clothed meוּבַעֲצָמוֹתand with bonesוְגִידִיםand sinewsתְּשֹׂכְכֵנִי׃you have fenced me

    Thou hast clothed me with skin and flesh, and hast fenced me with bones and sinews.

12. 12

    חַיִּיםlifeוָחֶסֶדand favorעָשִׂיתָyou didעִמָּדִיwith meוּפְקֻדָּתְךָand your visitationשׇׁמְרָהguardedרוּחִי׃my spirit

    Thou hast granted me life and favour, and thy visitation hath preserved my spirit.

13. 13

    וְאֵלֶּהand theseצָפַנְתָּyou hidבִלְבָבֶךָin your heartיָדַעְתִּיI knowכִּי־זֹאתbecause thisעִמָּךְ׃with you

    And these things hast thou hid in thine heart: I know that this is with thee.

14. 14

    אִם־חָטָאתִיif have I sinnedוּשְׁמַרְתָּנִיthen you mark meוּמֵעֲוֺנִיand from my iniquityלֹאnotתְנַקֵּנִי׃you will acquit me

    If I sin, then thou markest me, and thou wilt not acquit me from mine iniquity.

15. 15

    אִם־רָשַׁעְתִּיif I have acted wickedlyאַלְלַיwoeלִיto meוְצָדַקְתִּיand if I be righteousלֹא־אֶשָּׂאwill I not lift upרֹאשִׁיmy headשְׂבַעfull ofקָלוֹןconfusionוּרְאֵהand beholdעׇנְיִי׃my affliction

    If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction;

16. 16

    וְיִגְאֶהfor it increasesכַּשַּׁחַלas a fierce lionתְּצוּדֵנִיyou hunt meוְתָשֹׁבand againתִּתְפַּלָּא־בִי׃you show yourself marvelous upon me

    For it increaseth. Thou huntest me as a fierce lion: and again thou shewest thyself marvellous upon me.

17. 17

    תְּחַדֵּשׁyou renewעֵדֶיךָyour witnessesנֶגְדִּיagainst meוְתֶרֶבand you increaseכַּעַשְׂךָyour indignationעִמָּדִיwith meחֲלִיפוֹתchangesוְצָבָאand warעִמִּי׃with me

    Thou renewest thy witnesses against me, and increasest thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me.

18. 18

    וְלָמָּהand whyמֵרֶחֶםfrom the womb ofהֹצֵאתָנִיdid you bring out meאֶגְוַעoh that I had given up the ghostוְעַיִןand no eyeלֹא־תִרְאֵנִי׃had seen me

    Wherefore then hast thou brought me forth out of the womb? Oh that I had given up the ghost, and no eye had seen me!

19. 19

    כַּאֲשֶׁרasלֹא־הָיִיתִיnot I wasאֶהְיֶהI may beמִבֶּטֶןfrom the wombלַקֶּבֶרthe graveאוּבָל׃I was brought

    I should have been as though I had not been; I should have been carried from the womb to the grave.

20. 20

    הֲלֹא־מְעַטis it not somewhatיָמַיmy days(יחדל)[וַחֲדָל]cease then(ישית)[וְשִׁית]and let me aloneמִמֶּנִּיfrom meוְאַבְלִיגָהthat I may take comfortמְּעָט׃a little

    Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

21. 21

    בְּטֶרֶםbeforeאֵלֵךְI goוְלֹאand notאָשׁוּבI returnאֶל־אֶרֶץto the land ofחֹשֶׁךְdarknessוְצַלְמָוֶת׃and shadow of death

    Before I go whence I shall not return, even to the land of darkness and the shadow of death;

22. 22

    אֶרֶץthe land ofעֵפָתָהof darknessכְּמוֹlikeאֹפֶלdarknessצַלְמָוֶתthe shadow of deathוְלֹאand notסְדָרִיםany orderוַתֹּפַעand where the light isכְּמוֹ־אֹפֶל׃like darkness

    A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shadow of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.
