Jeremiah 9 יִרְמְיָהוּ פרק ט׳

   מִי־יִתְּנֵנִיmi-yit/te/NE/nioh that I hadבַמִּדְבָּרvam/mid/BARin the wildernessמְלוֹןme/LONa lodging place ofאֹרְחִיםor/CHIMwayfarersוְאֶעֶזְבָהve/e/ez/VAthat I might leaveאֶת־עַמִּיet-am/MImy peopleוְאֵלְכָהve/el/KHAand goמֵאִתָּםme/it/TAMfrom themכִּיkiforכֻלָּםkhul/LAMthey are allמְנָאֲפִיםme/na/a/FIMadulterersעֲצֶרֶתa/TSE/retan assembly ofבֹּגְדִים׃bog/DIMtreacherous men

   Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

   וַיַּדְרְכוּvay/yad/re/KHUand they bendאֶת־לְשׁוֹנָםet-le/sho/NAMtheir tongueקַשְׁתָּםkash/TAMtheir bowשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerof falsehoodוְלֹאve/LOand notלֶאֱמוּנָהle/e/mu/NAfor faithfulnessגָּבְרוּga/ve/RUare they strongבָאָרֶץva/A/retsin the landכִּיkiforמֵרָעָהme/ra/Afrom evilאֶל־רָעָהel-ra/Ato evilיָצָאוּya/TSA/uthey proceedוְאֹתִיve/o/TIand meלֹא־יָדָעוּlo-ya/DA/uthey do not knowנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

   And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD.

   אִישׁisheveryoneמֵרֵעֵהוּme/re/E/huof his neighborהִשָּׁמֵרוּhish/sha/ME/rubewareוְעַל־כׇּל־אָחve/AL-kol-achand in any brotherאַל־תִּבְטָחוּal-tiv/TA/chudo not trustכִּיkiforכׇל־אָחkhol-achevery brotherעָקוֹבa/KOVsupplantיַעְקֹבya/KOVwill supplantוְכׇל־רֵעַve/KHOL-RE/aand every neighborרָכִילra/KHILwith slanderיַהֲלֹךְ׃ya/ha/LOKHgoes about

   Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.

   וְאִישׁve/ISHand everyoneבְּרֵעֵהוּbe/re/E/huhis neighborיְהָתֵלּוּye/ha/TEL/ludeceivesוֶאֱמֶתve/e/METand the truthלֹאlonotיְדַבֵּרוּye/dab/BE/rudo they speakלִמְּדוּlim/me/DUthey have taughtלְשׁוֹנָםle/sho/NAMtheir tongueדַּבֶּר־שֶׁקֶרdab/BER-SHE/kerto speak liesהַעֲוֵהha/a/VEto commit iniquityנִלְאוּ׃nil/Uthey weary themselves

   And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity.

   שִׁבְתְּךָshiv/te/KHAyour dwelling isבְּתוֹךְbe/TOKHamongמִרְמָהmir/MAdeceitבְּמִרְמָהbe/mir/MAthrough deceitמֵאֲנוּme/a/NUthey refuseדַעַת־אוֹתִיDA/at-o/TIto know meנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

   Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the LORD.

6. 6

   לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iצוֹרְפָםtsor/FAMwill refine themוּבְחַנְתִּיםu/ve/chan/TIMand test themכִּי־אֵיךְki-ekhfor how elseאֶעֱשֶׂהe/e/SEshall I doמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofבַּת־עַמִּי׃bat-am/MIthe daughter of my people

   Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people?

   חֵץchetsan arrow(שוחט)shavachat[שָׁחוּט]sha/CHUTsharpenedלְשׁוֹנָםle/sho/NAMis their tongueמִרְמָהmir/MAdeceitדִבֵּרdib/BERit speaksבְּפִיוbe/FIVwith his mouthשָׁלוֹםsha/LOMpeaceאֶת־רֵעֵהוּet-re/E/huto his neighborיְדַבֵּרye/dab/BERone speaksוּבְקִרְבּוֹu/ve/kir/BObut in his heartיָשִׂיםya/SIMhe laysאׇרְבּוֹ׃or/BOhis ambush

   Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait.

   הַעַל־אֵלֶּהHA/al-EL/lefor these thingsלֹא־אֶפְקׇד־בָּםlo-ef/KOD-bamshall I not punish themנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDאִםimorבְּגוֹיbe/GOYon a nationאֲשֶׁר־כָּזֶהa/SHER-ka/ZEsuch as thisלֹאlonotתִתְנַקֵּםtit/nak/KEMbe avengedנַפְשִׁי׃naf/SHImy soul

   Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

9. 9

   עַל־הֶהָרִיםal-he/ha/RIMupon the mountainsאֶשָּׂאes/SAI will take upבְכִיve/KHIa weepingוָנֶהִיva/NE/hiand wailingוְעַל־נְאוֹתve/AL-ne/OTand for the pastures ofמִדְבָּרmid/BARthe wildernessקִינָהki/NAa lamentationכִּיkibecauseנִצְּתוּnits/tse/TUthey are burned upמִבְּלִי־אִישׁmib/be/LI-ishso that no oneעֹבֵרo/VERpasses throughוְלֹאve/LOand notשָׁמְעוּsha/me/Udo they hearקוֹלkolthe voice ofמִקְנֶהmik/NEthe cattleמֵעוֹףme/OFboth the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimthe heavensוְעַד־בְּהֵמָהve/AD-be/he/MAand the beastsנָדְדוּna/de/DUhave fledהָלָכוּ׃ha/LA/khuthey are gone

   For the mountains will I take up a weeping and wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.

    וְנָתַתִּיve/na/tat/TIand I will makeאֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםet-Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalemלְגַלִּיםle/gal/LIMheapsמְעוֹןme/ONa den ofתַּנִּיםtan/NIMjackalsוְאֶת־עָרֵיve/ET-a/REand the cities ofיְהוּדָהYe/hu/DAJudahאֶתֵּןet/TENI will makeשְׁמָמָהshe/ma/MAa desolationמִבְּלִיmib/be/LIwithoutיוֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVinhabitant

    And I will make Jerusalem heaps, and a den of dragons; and I will make the cities of Judah desolate, without an inhabitant.

11. 11

    מִי־הָאִישׁmi-ha/ISHwho is the manהֶחָכָםhe/cha/KHAMwiseוְיָבֵןve/ya/VENthat may understandאֶת־זֹאתet-zotthisוַאֲשֶׁרva/a/SHERand to whomדִּבֶּרdib/BERhas spokenפִּי־יְהֹוָהpi-Adonaithe mouth of the LORDאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himוְיַגִּדָהּve/yag/gi/DAthat he may declare itעַל־מָהal-mawhyאָבְדָהa/ve/DAhas perishedהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landנִצְּתָהnits/tse/TAis burned upכַמִּדְבָּרkham/mid/BARlike the wildernessמִבְּלִיmib/be/LIwithoutעֹבֵר׃o/VERanyone passing through

    Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?

12. 12

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעַל־עׇזְבָםal-oz/VAMbecause they have forsakenאֶת־תּוֹרָתִיet-to/ra/TImy lawאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichנָתַתִּיna/TAT/tiI gaveלִפְנֵיהֶםlif/ne/HEMbefore themוְלֹא־שָׁמְעוּve/LO-sha/me/Uand have not obeyedבְקוֹלִיve/ko/LImy voiceוְלֹא־הָלְכוּve/LO-ha/le/KHUnor walkedבָהּ׃vain it

    And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;

13. 13

    וַיֵּלְכוּvay/yel/KHUbut have walkedאַחֲרֵיa/cha/REafterשְׁרִרוּתshe/ri/RUTthe stubbornness ofלִבָּםlib/BAMtheir heartsוְאַחֲרֵיve/a/cha/REand afterהַבְּעָלִיםhab/Be/a/LIMthe Baalimאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלִמְּדוּםlim/me/DUMtaught themאֲבוֹתָם׃a/vo/TAMtheir fathers

    But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:

14. 14

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsאֱלֹהֵיe/lo/HEthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמַאֲכִילָםma/a/khi/LAMwill feed themאֶת־הָעָםet-ha/AMthe peopleהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלַעֲנָהla/a/NAwormwoodוְהִשְׁקִיתִיםve/hish/ki/TIMand give them to drinkמֵי־רֹאשׁ׃me-roshwater of gall

    Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.

15. 15

    וַהֲפִצוֹתִיםva/ha/fi/tso/TIMI will scatter themבַּגּוֹיִםbag/go/YIMamong the nationsאֲשֶׁרa/SHERwhichלֹאlonotיָדְעוּya/de/Uhave knownהֵמָּהHEM/matheyוַאֲבוֹתָםva/a/vo/TAMnor their fathersוְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendאַחֲרֵיהֶםa/cha/re/HEMafter themאֶת־הַחֶרֶבet-ha/CHE/revthe swordעַדaduntilכַּלּוֹתִיkal/lo/TII have consumedאוֹתָם׃o/TAMthem

    I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.

16. 16

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsהִתְבּוֹנְנוּhit/bon/NUconsiderוְקִרְאוּve/kir/Uand callלַמְקוֹנְנוֹתlam/kon/NOTthe wailing womenוּתְבוֹאֶינָהu/te/vo/E/nathat they may comeוְאֶל־הַחֲכָמוֹתve/EL-ha/cha/kha/MOTand for the skillful womenשִׁלְחוּshil/CHUsendוְתָבוֹאנָה׃ve/ta/VO/nathat they may come

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Consider ye, and call for the mourning women, that they may come; and send for cunning women, that they may come:

17. 17

    וּתְמַהֵרְנָהu/te/ma/HER/naand let them hurryוְתִשֶּׂנָהve/tis/SE/naand take upעָלֵינוּa/LE/nufor usנֶהִיNE/hiwailingוְתֵרַדְנָהve/te/RAD/nathat may run downעֵינֵינוּe/NE/nuour eyesדִּמְעָהdim/Awith tearsוְעַפְעַפֵּינוּve/af/ap/PE/nuand our eyelidsיִזְּלוּ־מָיִם׃yiz/ze/LU-MA/yimgush with water

    And let them make haste, and take up a wailing for us, that our eyes may run down with tears, and our eyelids gush out with waters.

18. 18

    כִּיkiforקוֹלkolthe voice ofנְהִיne/HIwailingנִשְׁמַעnish/MAis heardמִצִּיּוֹןmits/Tsiy/YONout of Zionאֵיךְekhhowשֻׁדָּדְנוּshud/DAD/nuwe are ruinedבֹּשְׁנוּBOSH/nuwe are ashamedמְאֹדme/ODgreatlyכִּי־עָזַבְנוּki-a/ZAV/nubecause we have leftאָרֶץA/retsthe landכִּיkibecauseהִשְׁלִיכוּhish/LI/khuthey have cast downמִשְׁכְּנוֹתֵינוּ׃mish/ke/no/TE/nuour dwellings

    For a voice of wailing is heard out of Zion, How are we spoiled! we are greatly confounded, because we have forsaken the land, because our dwellings have cast us out.

19. 19

    כִּי־שְׁמַעְנָהki-she/MA/nayet hearנָשִׁיםna/SHIMO womenדְּבַר־יְהֹוָהde/VAR-Adonaithe word of the LORDוְתִקַּחve/tik/KACHand let receiveאׇזְנְכֶםoz/ne/KHEMyour earsדְּבַר־פִּיוde/VAR-pivthe word of His mouthוְלַמֵּדְנָהve/lam/MED/naand teachבְנוֹתֵיכֶםve/no/te/KHEMyour daughtersנֶהִיNE/hiwailingוְאִשָּׁהve/ish/SHAand each oneרְעוּתָהּre/u/TAher neighborקִינָה׃ki/NAa lamentation

    Yet hear the word of the LORD, O ye women, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth, and teach your daughters wailing, and every one her neighbour lamentation.

20. 20

    כִּי־עָלָהki-A/lafor has come upמָוֶתMA/vetdeathבְּחַלּוֹנֵינוּbe/chal/lo/NE/nuinto our windowsבָּאbait has enteredבְּאַרְמְנוֹתֵינוּbe/ar/me/no/TE/nuour palacesלְהַכְרִיתle/hakh/RITto cut offעוֹלָלo/LALthe childrenמִחוּץmi/CHUTSfrom the streetבַּחוּרִיםba/chu/RIMthe young menמֵרְחֹבוֹת׃mer/cho/VOTfrom the squares

    For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

21. 21

    דַּבֵּרdab/BERspeakכֹּהkothusנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוְנָפְלָהve/na/fe/LAeven will fallנִבְלַתniv/LATthe corpse ofהָאָדָםha/a/DAMmenכְּדֹמֶןke/DO/menas dungעַל־פְּנֵיal-pe/NEupon the face ofהַשָּׂדֶהhas/sa/DEthe fieldוּכְעָמִירu/khe/a/MIRand like sheavesמֵאַחֲרֵיme/a/cha/REafterהַקֹּצֵרhak/ko/TSERthe reaperוְאֵיןve/ENand there is noמְאַסֵּף׃me/as/SEFone to gather them

    Speak, Thus saith the LORD, Even the carcases of men shall fall as dung upon the open field, and as the handful after the harvestman, and none shall gather them.

22. 22

    כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאַל־יִתְהַלֵּלal-yit/hal/LELlet not boastחָכָםcha/KHAMthe wise manבְּחׇכְמָתוֹbe/chokh/ma/TOin his wisdomוְאַל־יִתְהַלֵּלve/AL-yit/hal/LELand let not boastהַגִּבּוֹרhag/gib/BORthe mightyבִּגְבוּרָתוֹbig/vu/ra/TOin his mightאַל־יִתְהַלֵּלal-yit/hal/LELlet not boastעָשִׁירa/SHIRthe rich manבְּעׇשְׁרוֹ׃be/osh/ROin his riches

    Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:

23. 23

    כִּיkibutאִם־בְּזֹאתim-be/ZOTin thisיִתְהַלֵּלyit/hal/LELlet boastהַמִּתְהַלֵּלham/mit/hal/LELhim who boastsהַשְׂכֵּלhas/KELthat he understandsוְיָדֹעַve/ya/DO/aand knowsאוֹתִיo/TImeכִּיkithatאֲנִיa/NII amיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDעֹשֶׂהo/SEwho exercisesחֶסֶדCHE/sedkindnessמִשְׁפָּטmish/PATjusticeוּצְדָקָהu/tse/da/KAand righteousnessבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the earthכִּי־בְאֵלֶּהki-ve/EL/lefor in theseחָפַצְתִּיcha/FATS/tiI delightנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

24. 24

    הִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָמִיםya/MIMthe daysבָּאִיםba/IMare comingנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIwhen I will punishעַל־כׇּל־מוּלal-kol-mulall who are circumcisedבְּעׇרְלָה׃be/or/LAwith the uncircumcised

    Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all them which are circumcised with the uncircumcised;

25. 25

    עַל־מִצְרַיִםal-Mits/RA/yimEgyptוְעַל־יְהוּדָהve/AL-ye/hu/DAand upon Judahוְעַל־אֱדוֹםve/AL-e/DOMand upon Edomוְעַל־בְּנֵיve/AL-be/NEand upon the sons ofעַמּוֹןAm/MONAmmonוְעַל־מוֹאָבve/AL-mo/AVand upon Moabוְעַלve/ALand uponכׇּל־קְצוּצֵיkol-ke/tsu/TSEall who have cutפֵאָהfe/Athe cornerהַיֹּשְׁבִיםhay/yosh/VIMwho dwellבַּמִּדְבָּרbam/mid/BARin the wildernessכִּיkiforכׇל־הַגּוֹיִםkhol-hag/go/YIMall the nationsעֲרֵלִיםa/re/LIMare uncircumcisedוְכׇל־בֵּיתve/KHOL-betand all the house ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelעַרְלֵי־לֵב׃ar/LE-levare uncircumcised in heart

    Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all that are in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are uncircumcised in the heart.
