    הַדָּבָרthe wordאֲשֶׁרwhichהָיָהwasאֶל־יִרְמְיָהוּto Jeremiahמֵאֵתfromיְהֹוָהthe LORDלֵאמֹר׃saying

    The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

    עֲמֹדstandבְּשַׁעַרin the gate ofבֵּיתthe house ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDוְקָרָאתָand you shall proclaimשָּׁםthereאֶת־הַדָּבָרthe wordהַזֶּהthisוְאָמַרְתָּand sayשִׁמְעוּhearדְבַר־יְהֹוָהthe word of the LORDכׇּל־יְהוּדָהall Judahהַבָּאִיםwho cameבַּשְּׁעָרִיםat the gatesהָאֵלֶּהtheseלְהִשְׁתַּחֲוֺתto bow downלַיהֹוָה׃to the LORD

    Stand in the gate of the LORD's house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.

    כֹּה־אָמַרthus saysיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelהֵיטִיבוּamendדַרְכֵיכֶםyour waysוּמַעַלְלֵיכֶםand your deedsוַאֲשַׁכְּנָהand I will cause to dwellאֶתְכֶםyouבַּמָּקוֹםin the placeהַזֶּה׃this

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

    אַל־תִּבְטְחוּdo not trustלָכֶםto youאֶל־דִּבְרֵיto the words ofהַשֶּׁקֶרthe falsehoodלֵאמֹרsayingהֵיכַלthe temple ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵיכַלthe temple ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵיכַלthe temple ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDהֵמָּה׃they

    Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.

    כִּיforאִם־הֵיטֵיבif certainlyתֵּיטִיבוּyou will do goodאֶת־דַּרְכֵיכֶםyour waysוְאֶת־מַעַלְלֵיכֶםand your doingsאִם־עָשׂוֹif certainlyתַעֲשׂוּyou shall doמִשְׁפָּטjudgmentבֵּיןbetweenאִישׁa manוּבֵיןand betweenרֵעֵהוּ׃his neighbor

    For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;

    גֵּרa sojournerיָתוֹםa fatherless oneוְאַלְמָנָהand a widowלֹאnotתַעֲשֹׁקוּyou shall oppressוְדָםand bloodנָקִיblamelessאַל־תִּשְׁפְּכוּdo not you shall shedבַּמָּקוֹםin the placeהַזֶּהthisוְאַחֲרֵיand afterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsלֹאnotתֵלְכוּgoלְרַעfor evilלָכֶם׃to you

    If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:

    וְשִׁכַּנְתִּיand I will cause to dwellאֶתְכֶםyouבַּמָּקוֹםin the placeהַזֶּהthisבָּאָרֶץin the landאֲשֶׁרwhichנָתַתִּיI gaveלַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםto your fathersלְמִן־עוֹלָםfrom of oldוְעַד־עוֹלָם׃and forever

    Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.

    הִנֵּהbeholdאַתֶּםyou areבֹּטְחִיםtrustingלָכֶםto youעַל־דִּבְרֵיupon the words ofהַשָּׁקֶרthe deceptionלְבִלְתִּיto notהוֹעִיל׃unprofitable

    Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.

    הֲגָנֹבwill you stealרָצֹחַwill you murderוְנָאֹףand will you commit adulteryוְהִשָּׁבֵעַand will you swearלַשֶּׁקֶרto the falsehoodוְקַטֵּרand will you burn incenseלַבָּעַלto the Baalוְהָלֹךְand will you walkאַחֲרֵיafterאֱלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםother godsאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹא־יְדַעְתֶּם׃not you know

    Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not;

    וּבָאתֶםand you have comeוַעֲמַדְתֶּםand you will standלְפָנַיbefore meבַּבַּיִתin the houseהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁרwhichנִקְרָא־שְׁמִיis called my nameעָלָיוupon itוַאֲמַרְתֶּםand you shall sayנִצַּלְנוּwe are deliveredלְמַעַןin order thatעֲשׂוֹתdoאֵת־כׇּל־הַתּוֹעֵבוֹתall the abominationsהָאֵלֶּה׃these

    And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?

    הַמְעָרַתa den ofפָּרִצִיםrobbersהָיָהwasהַבַּיִתthe houseהַזֶּהthisאֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָא־שְׁמִיwhich called was my nameעָלָיוupon himבְּעֵינֵיכֶםin your viewגַּםalsoאָנֹכִיIהִנֵּהbeholdרָאִיתִיI sawנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃says the LORD

    Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.

    כִּיforלְכוּ־נָאgo I prayאֶל־מְקוֹמִיto my placeאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּשִׁילוֹwas in ShilohאֲשֶׁרwhichשִׁכַּנְתִּיI caused to dwellשְׁמִיmy nameשָׁםthereבָּרִאשׁוֹנָהat firstוּרְאוּand seeאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־עָשִׂיתִיthat which I madeלוֹto himמִפְּנֵיbecause ofרָעַתthe evil ofעַמִּיmy peopleיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Israel

    But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.

    וְעַתָּהand nowיַעַןbecauseעֲשׂוֹתְכֶםdo youאֶת־כׇּל־הַמַּעֲשִׂיםall the worksהָאֵלֶּהtheseנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוָאֲדַבֵּרand I spokeאֲלֵיכֶםunto youהַשְׁכֵּםrise earlyוְדַבֵּרand speakוְלֹאand notשְׁמַעְתֶּםyou have heardוָאֶקְרָאand I calledאֶתְכֶםyouוְלֹאand notעֲנִיתֶם׃you answered

    And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;

    וְעָשִׂיתִיand I will doלַבַּיִתfor the houseאֲשֶׁרwhichנִקְרָא־שְׁמִיcalled was my nameעָלָיוupon himאֲשֶׁרwhichאַתֶּםyou areבֹּטְחִיםtrustingבּוֹin itוְלַמָּקוֹםand to the placeאֲשֶׁר־נָתַתִּיwhich I gaveלָכֶםto youוְלַאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםand to your ancestorsכַּאֲשֶׁרasעָשִׂיתִיI madeלְשִׁלוֹ׃to Shiloh

    Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

    וְהִשְׁלַכְתִּיand I will cast outאֶתְכֶםyouמֵעַלfrom uponפָּנָיMy-faceכַּאֲשֶׁרasהִשְׁלַכְתִּיI cast outאֶת־כׇּל־אֲחֵיכֶםall your brethrenאֵת־כׇּל־זֶרַעall seedאֶפְרָיִם׃Ephraim

    And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.

  16. 16

    וְאַתָּהand youאַל־תִּתְפַּלֵּלdo not you shall prayבְּעַד־הָעָםon behalf of the peopleהַזֶּהthisוְאַל־תִּשָּׂאand do not you shall receiveבַעֲדָםfor themרִנָּהinto joyוּתְפִלָּהand prayerוְאַל־תִּפְגַּע־בִּיand do not you entreat against meכִּי־אֵינֶנִּיbecause I am notשֹׁמֵעַwho hearsאֹתָךְ׃you

    Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.

    הַאֵינְךָare you notרֹאֶהseeמָהwhatהֵמָּהtheyעֹשִׂיםwhich actבְּעָרֵיin the cities ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּבְחֻצוֹתand in the streets ofיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Jerusalem

    Seest thou not what they do in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

    הַבָּנִיםthe sonsמְלַקְּטִיםgathering upעֵצִיםsmall treesוְהָאָבוֹתand the fathersמְבַעֲרִיםare kindlingאֶת־הָאֵשׁthe fireוְהַנָּשִׁיםand the womenלָשׁוֹתare kneadingבָּצֵקdoughלַעֲשׂוֹתto doכַּוָּנִיםthe cakesלִמְלֶכֶתfor the queen ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוְהַסֵּךְand to pour outנְסָכִיםdrink offeringsלֵאלֹהִים־אֲחֵרִיםto other godsלְמַעַןin order thatהַכְעִסֵנִי׃to provoke My anger

    The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may provoke me to anger.

    הַאֹתִיis it meהֵםtheyמַכְעִסִיםprovoking to angerנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDהֲלוֹאis it notאֹתָםthemלְמַעַןin order thatבֹּשֶׁתthe shame ofפְּנֵיהֶם׃their faces

    Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?

  20. 20

    לָכֵןthereforeכֹּה־אָמַרthus saysאֲדֹנָיLordיֱהֹוִהGODהִנֵּהbeholdאַפִּיMy angerוַחֲמָתִיand my rageנִתֶּכֶתare about to be poured outאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםunto the placeהַזֶּהthisעַל־הָאָדָםupon the manוְעַל־הַבְּהֵמָהand upon the livestockוְעַל־עֵץand upon the trees ofהַשָּׂדֶהthe fieldוְעַל־פְּרִיand upon fruitהָאֲדָמָהthe groundוּבָעֲרָהand it shall burnוְלֹאand notתִכְבֶּה׃be quenched

    Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.

    כֹּהthusאָמַרsaidיְהֹוָהthe LORDצְבָאוֹתof Hostsאֱלֹהֵיthe God ofיִשְׂרָאֵלIsraelעֹלוֹתֵיכֶםyour burnt offeringsסְפוּaddעַל־זִבְחֵיכֶםupon your sacrificesוְאִכְלוּand feastבָשָׂר׃flesh

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.

  22. 22

    כִּיforלֹא־דִבַּרְתִּיnot I spokeאֶת־אֲבוֹתֵיכֶםyour fathersוְלֹאand notצִוִּיתִיםI have commanded themבְּיוֹםin the day of(הוציא)[הוֹצִיאִי]my bringing outאוֹתָםthemמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרָיִםEgyptעַל־דִּבְרֵיupon the words ofעוֹלָהburnt offeringוָזָבַח׃and sacrifice

    For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:

  23. 23

    כִּיthatאִם־אֶת־הַדָּבָרif the wordהַזֶּהthisצִוִּיתִיhave I commandedאוֹתָםthemלֵאמֹרsayingשִׁמְעוּhearבְקוֹלִיto my voiceוְהָיִיתִיand I wasלָכֶםto youלֵאלֹהִיםGodוְאַתֶּםand youתִּהְיוּ־לִיyou shall be to meלְעָםpeopleוַהֲלַכְתֶּםand you will goבְּכׇל־הַדֶּרֶךְin all the wayאֲשֶׁרwhichאֲצַוֶּהI will commandאֶתְכֶםyouלְמַעַןin order thatיִיטַבit shall be wellלָכֶם׃to you

    But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.

  24. 24

    וְלֹאand notשָׁמְעוּthey heardוְלֹא־הִטּוּand not they turnedאֶת־אׇזְנָםtheir earוַיֵּלְכוּand they wentבְּמֹעֵצוֹתin the counselsבִּשְׁרִרוּתin the stubbornness ofלִבָּםtheir heartsהָרָעthat which is evilוַיִּהְיוּand they wereלְאָחוֹרbackwardוְלֹאand notלְפָנִים׃forward

    But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.

  25. 25

    לְמִן־הַיּוֹםfrom the dayאֲשֶׁרwhichיָצְאוּwent forthאֲבוֹתֵיכֶםyour fathersמֵאֶרֶץfrom the land ofמִצְרַיִםEgyptעַדuntilהַיּוֹםthe dayהַזֶּהthisוָאֶשְׁלַחand I sentאֲלֵיכֶםunto youאֶת־כׇּל־עֲבָדַיall my servantsהַנְּבִיאִיםthe prophetsיוֹםdayהַשְׁכֵּםrise earlyוְשָׁלֹחַ׃and sending

    Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them:

  26. 26

    וְלוֹאand notשָׁמְעוּthey heardאֵלַיto meוְלֹאand notהִטּוּthey turnedאֶת־אׇזְנָםtheir earוַיַּקְשׁוּtherefore they hardenedאֶת־עׇרְפָּםtheir necksהֵרֵעוּthey did worseמֵאֲבוֹתָם׃than their fathers

    Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.

  27. 27

    וְדִבַּרְתָּand you will speakאֲלֵיהֶםto themאֶת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםall the wordsהָאֵלֶּהtheseוְלֹאand notיִשְׁמְעוּthey hearkenאֵלֶיךָto youוְקָרָאתָand you shall proclaimאֲלֵיהֶםto themוְלֹאand notיַעֲנוּכָה׃they will answer you

    Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee.

    וְאָמַרְתָּand sayאֲלֵיהֶםto themזֶהthisהַגּוֹיthe nationאֲשֶׁרwhichלוֹא־שָׁמְעוּnot they heardבְּקוֹלthe voice ofיְהֹוָהthe LORDאֱלֹהָיוhis Godוְלֹאand notלָקְחוּthey tookמוּסָרdisciplineאָבְדָהperishedהָאֱמוּנָהthe truthוְנִכְרְתָהand shall be cut offמִפִּיהֶם׃from their mouth

    But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.

    גׇּזִּיshearנִזְרֵךְyour hairוְהַשְׁלִיכִיand throw it awayוּשְׂאִיand take upעַל־שְׁפָיִםupon bare heightsקִינָהa lamentationכִּיforמָאַסhas refusedיְהֹוָהthe LORDוַיִּטֹּשׁand has forsakenאֶת־דּוֹרthe generation ofעֶבְרָתוֹ׃his wrath

    Cut off thine hair, O Jerusalem, and cast it away, and take up a lamentation on high places; for the LORD hath rejected and forsaken the generation of his wrath.

    כִּי־עָשׂוּbecause they didבְנֵי־יְהוּדָהsons of Judahהָרַעthe evilבְּעֵינַיin my eyesנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDשָׂמוּthey have setשִׁקּוּצֵיהֶםtheir detestable thingsבַּבַּיִתin the houseאֲשֶׁר־נִקְרָא־שְׁמִיwhich called was my nameעָלָיוupon itלְטַמְּאוֹ׃to declare unclean it

    For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.

  31. 31

    וּבָנוּand they have builtבָּמוֹתthe high places ofהַתֹּפֶתthe Tophetאֲשֶׁרwhichבְּגֵיאin the valley ofבֶן־הִנֹּםBen-hinnomלִשְׂרֹףto be burnedאֶת־בְּנֵיהֶםtheir sonsוְאֶת־בְּנֹתֵיהֶםand their daughtersבָּאֵשׁby fireאֲשֶׁרwhichלֹאnotצִוִּיתִיhave I commandedוְלֹאand notעָלְתָהcame itעַל־לִבִּי׃upon my heart

    And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.

  32. 32

    לָכֵןthereforeהִנֵּה־יָמִיםbehold daysבָּאִיםcomeנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהsays the LORDוְלֹא־יֵאָמֵרand not it is saidעוֹדany moreהַתֹּפֶתthe Tophetוְגֵיאand the valley ofבֶן־הִנֹּםBen-hinnomכִּיbecauseאִם־גֵּיאbut the valley ofהַהֲרֵגָהof slaughterוְקָבְרוּand they will buryבְתֹפֶתin Tophetמֵאֵיןwithoutמָקוֹם׃a place

    Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.

  33. 33

    וְהָיְתָהand it beנִבְלַתthe corpse ofהָעָםthe peopleהַזֶּהthisלְמַאֲכׇלfoodלְעוֹףto the birds ofהַשָּׁמַיִםthe heavensוּלְבֶהֱמַתand for the animals ofהָאָרֶץthe earthוְאֵיןand there is noמַחֲרִיד׃one who terrifies

    And the carcases of this people shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth; and none shall fray them away.

  34. 34

    וְהִשְׁבַּתִּיand I will cause to ceaseמֵעָרֵיfrom the cities ofיְהוּדָהJudahוּמֵחֻצוֹתand from the streets ofיְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִםJerusalemקוֹלthe voice ofשָׂשׂוֹןjoyוְקוֹלand the voice ofשִׂמְחָהjoyקוֹלthe voice ofחָתָןa son in lawוְקוֹלand the voice ofכַּלָּהthe brideכִּיforלְחׇרְבָּהto desolationתִּהְיֶהshall beהָאָרֶץ׃the land

    Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.
