   כֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iמֵעִירme/IRwill stir upעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELagainst Babylonוְאֶל־יֹשְׁבֵיve/EL-yosh/VEand against those who dwell inלֵבLevLeb-קָמָיka/MAYkamaiרוּחַRU/acha windמַשְׁחִית׃mash/CHITof destruction

   Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will raise up against Babylon, and against them that dwell in the midst of them that rise up against me, a destroying wind;

   וְשִׁלַּחְתִּיve/shil/lach/TIand I will sendלְבָבֶלle/Va/VELto Babylonזָרִיםza/RIMwinnowersוְזֵרוּהָve/ze/RU/haand they will winnow itוִיבֹקְקוּvi/vok/KUand emptyאֶת־אַרְצָהּet-ar/TSAits landכִּי־הָיוּki-ha/YUfor they will beעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herמִסָּבִיבmis/sa/VIVall aroundבְּיוֹםbe/YOMin the day ofרָעָה׃ra/Aevil

   And will send unto Babylon fanners, that shall fan her, and shall empty her land: for in the day of trouble they shall be against her round about.

   אֶל־יִדְרֹךְel-yid/ROKHagainst him who bends(ידרך)yadarakhהַדֹּרֵךְhad/do/REKHlet the archer bendקַשְׁתּוֹkash/TOhis bowוְאֶל־יִתְעַלve/EL-yit/ALand against him who rises upבְּסִרְיֹנוֹbe/sir/yo/NOin his coat of mailוְאַל־תַּחְמְלוּve/AL-tach/me/LUand do not spareאֶל־בַּחֻרֶיהָel-ba/chu/RE/haher young menהַחֲרִימוּha/cha/RI/mudevote to destructionכׇּל־צְבָאָהּ׃kol-tse/va/Aall her host

   Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his brigandine: and spare ye not her young men; destroy ye utterly all her host.

   וְנָפְלוּve/na/fe/LUand they shall fallחֲלָלִיםcha/la/LIMslainבְּאֶרֶץbe/E/retsin the land ofכַּשְׂדִּיםkaS/DIMthe Chaldeansוּמְדֻקָּרִיםu/me/duk/ka/RIMand thrust throughבְּחוּצוֹתֶיהָ׃be/chu/tso/TE/hain its streets

   Thus the slain shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and they that are thrust through in her streets.

   כִּיkiforלֹא־אַלְמָןlo-al/MANhas not been forsakenיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelוִיהוּדָהVi/hu/DAand Judahמֵאֱלֹהָיוme/e/lo/HAYVfrom its Godמֵיְהֹוָהme-Adonaifrom the LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsכִּיkithoughאַרְצָםar/TSAMtheir own landמָלְאָהma/le/Ais full ofאָשָׁםa/SHAMguiltמִקְּדוֹשׁmik/Ke/DOSHagainst the Holy One ofיִשְׂרָאֵל׃Yis/ra/ELIsrael

   For Israel hath not been forsaken, nor Judah of his God, of the LORD of hosts; though their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of Israel.

   נֻסוּNU/sufleeמִתּוֹךְmit/TOKHfrom the midst ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonוּמַלְּטוּu/mal/le/TUand let saveאִישׁisheachנַפְשׁוֹnaf/SHOhis lifeאַל־תִּדַּמּוּal-tid/DAM/mudo not be cut offבַּעֲוֺנָהּba/a/vo/NAin her iniquityכִּיkiforעֵתetthe time ofנְקָמָהne/ka/MAvengeanceהִיאhiit isלַיהֹוָהla-Adonaiof the LORDגְּמוּלge/MULrecompenseהוּאhuHeמְשַׁלֵּםme/shal/LEMwill renderלָהּ׃lato her

   Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and deliver every man his soul: be not cut off in her iniquity; for this is the time of the LORD's vengeance; he will render unto her a recompence.

   כּוֹס־זָהָבkos-za/HAVa golden cupבָּבֶלba/VELis Babylonבְּיַד־יְהֹוָהbe/YAD-Adonaiin the hand of the LORDמְשַׁכֶּרֶתme/shak/KE/retthat made drunkכׇּל־הָאָרֶץkol-ha/A/retsall the earthמִיֵּינָהּmiy/ye/NAof her wineשָׁתוּSHA/tuthey have drunkגוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsעַל־כֵּןal-kenthereforeיִתְהֹלְלוּyit/hol/LUgo madגוֹיִם׃go/YIMnations

   Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD's hand, that made all the earth drunken: the nations have drunken of her wine; therefore the nations are mad.

   פִּתְאֹםpit/OMsuddenlyנָפְלָהna/fe/LAhas fallenבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonוַתִּשָּׁבֵרvat/tish/sha/VERand been brokenהֵילִילוּhe/LI/luhowlעָלֶיהָa/LE/hafor herקְחוּke/CHUtakeצֳרִיtso/RIbalmלְמַכְאוֹבָהּle/makh/o/VAfor its painאוּלַיu/LAYperhapsתֵּרָפֵא׃te/ra/FEit will be healed

   Babylon is suddenly fallen and destroyed: howl for her; take balm for her pain, if so be she may be healed.

   רִפִּאנוּrip/PI/nuwe would have healedאֶת־בָּבֶלet-Ba/VELBabylonוְלֹאve/LObut notנִרְפָּתָהnir/PA/tashe was healedעִזְבוּהָiz/VU/haleave itוְנֵלֵךְve/ne/LEKHand let us goאִישׁisheachלְאַרְצוֹle/ar/TSOto his own landכִּי־נָגַעki-na/GAfor has reachedאֶל־הַשָּׁמַיִםel-hash/sha/MA/yimto the heavensמִשְׁפָּטָהּmish/pa/TAits judgmentוְנִשָּׂאve/nis/SAand is liftedעַד־שְׁחָקִים׃ad-she/cha/KIMto the skies

   We would have healed Babylon, but she is not healed: forsake her, and let us go every one into his own country: for her judgment reacheth unto heaven, and is lifted up even to the skies.

    הוֹצִיאho/TSIhas brought forthיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־צִדְקֹתֵינוּet-tsid/ko/TE/nuour righteousnessבֹּאוּBO/ucomeוּנְסַפְּרָהu/ne/sap/pe/RAso let us recountבְצִיּוֹןve/Tsiy/YONin Zionאֶת־מַעֲשֵׂהet-ma/a/SEwork ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֱלֹהֵינוּ׃e/lo/HE/nuour God

    The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness: come, and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God.

    הָבֵרוּha/VE/rusharpenהַחִצִּיםha/chits/TSIMthe arrowsמִלְאוּmil/Ufillהַשְּׁלָטִיםhash/she/la/TIMthe shieldsהֵעִירhe/IRhas stirred upיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־רוּחַet-RU/achthe spirit ofמַלְכֵיmal/KHEthe kings ofמָדַיMa/DAYMediaכִּי־עַל־בָּבֶלki-al-Ba/VELfor against Babylonמְזִמָּתוֹme/zim/ma/TOis His purposeלְהַשְׁחִיתָהּle/hash/chi/TAto destroy itכִּי־נִקְמַתki-nik/MATbecause the vengeance ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִיאhiit isנִקְמַתnik/MATthe vengeance ofהֵיכָלוֹ׃he/kha/LOhis temple

    Make bright the arrows; gather the shields: the LORD hath raised up the spirit of the kings of the Medes: for his device is against Babylon, to destroy it; because it is the vengeance of the LORD, the vengeance of his temple.

    אֶל־חוֹמֹתel-cho/MOTagainst the walls ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonשְׂאוּ־נֵסse/U-nesset up a standardהַחֲזִיקוּha/cha/ZI/kustrengthenהַמִּשְׁמָרham/mish/MARthe guardהָקִימוּha/KI/muset upשֹׁמְרִיםshom/RIMwatchmenהָכִינוּha/KHI/nuprepareהָאֹרְבִיםha/or/VIMthe ambushesכִּיkiforגַּם־זָמַםgam-za/MAMhas both purposedיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDגַּם־עָשָׂהgam-a/SAand doneאֵת־אֲשֶׁר־דִּבֶּרet-a/SHER-dib/BERwhat He spokeאֶל־יֹשְׁבֵיel-yosh/VEconcerning the inhabitants ofבָבֶל׃Va/VELBabylon

    Set up the standard upon the walls of Babylon, make the watch strong, set up the watchmen, prepare the ambushes: for the LORD hath both devised and done that which he spake against the inhabitants of Babylon.

    O thou that dwellest upon many waters, abundant in treasures, thine end is come, and the measure of thy covetousness.

    נִשְׁבַּעnish/BAsworeיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsבְּנַפְשׁוֹbe/naf/SHOby Himselfכִּיkisurelyאִם־מִלֵּאתִיךְim-mil/le/TIKHI will fill youאָדָםa/DAMwith menכַּיֶּלֶקkay/YE/leklike the locustוְעָנוּve/a/NUand they will raiseעָלַיִךְa/LA/yikhover youהֵידָד׃he/DADa shout

    The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, saying, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee.

15. 15

    עֹשֵׂהo/SEHe has madeאֶרֶץE/retsthe earthבְּכֹחוֹbe/kho/CHOby His powerמֵכִיןme/KHINwho establishedתֵּבֵלte/VELthe worldבְּחׇכְמָתוֹbe/chokh/ma/TOby His wisdomוּבִתְבוּנָתוֹu/vit/vu/na/TOand by His understandingנָטָהna/TAhas stretched outשָׁמָיִם׃sha/MA/yimthe heavens

    He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

    לְקוֹלle/KOLat the voiceתִּתּוֹtit/TOof His givingהֲמוֹןha/MONthere is a tumult ofמַיִםMA/yimwatersבַּשָּׁמַיִםbash/sha/MA/yimin the heavensוַיַּעַלvay/YA/aland He causes to ascendנְשִׂאִיםne/si/IMthe vaporsמִקְצֵה־אָרֶץmik/TSE-A/retsfrom the end of the earthבְּרָקִיםbe/ra/KIMlightningsלַמָּטָרlam/ma/TARfor the rainעָשָׂהa/SAHe makesוַיּוֹצֵאvay/yo/TSEand brings outרוּחַRU/achthe windמֵאֹצְרֹתָיו׃me/ots/ro/TAYVfrom His storehouses

    When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

17. 17

    נִבְעַרniv/ARis stupidכׇּל־אָדָםkol-a/DAMevery manמִדַּעַתmid/DA/atwithout knowledgeהֹבִישׁho/VISHis put to shameכׇּל־צֹרֵףkol-tso/REFevery goldsmithמִפָּסֶלmip/PA/selby his idolכִּיkiforשֶׁקֶרSHE/kerfalsehoodנִסְכּוֹnis/KOhis molten image isוְלֹא־רוּחַve/LO-RU/achand there is no breathבָּם׃bamin them

    Every man is brutish by his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them.

18. 18

    הֶבֶלHE/velvanityהֵמָּהHEM/mathey areמַעֲשֵׂהma/a/SEa work ofתַּעְתֻּעִיםta/tu/IMmockeryבְּעֵתbe/ETin the time ofפְּקֻדָּתָםpe/kud/da/TAMtheir punishmentיֹאבֵדוּ׃yo/VE/duthey will perish

    They are vanity, the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish.

19. 19

    לֹא־כְאֵלֶּהlo-khe/EL/lenot like these thingsחֵלֶקCHE/lekthe portion ofיַעֲקוֹבYa/a/KOVJacobכִּי־יוֹצֵרki-Yo/TSERfor the Former ofהַכֹּלhak/KOLeverythingהוּאhuis Heוְשֵׁבֶטve/SHE/vetand is the tribe ofנַחֲלָתוֹna/cha/la/TOHis inheritanceיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsשְׁמוֹ׃she/MOis His name

    The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.

    מַפֵּץ־אַתָּהmap/PETS-at/TAyou are my war clubלִיlifor meכְּלֵיke/LEweapons ofמִלְחָמָהmil/cha/MAwarוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsוְהִשְׁחַתִּיve/hish/chat/TIand I will destroyבְךָve/KHAwith youמַמְלָכוֹת׃mam/la/KHOTkingdoms

    Thou art my battle axe and weapons of war: for with thee will I break in pieces the nations, and with thee will I destroy kingdoms;

21. 21

    וְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youסוּסsusa horseוְרֹכְבוֹve/rokh/VOand its riderוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youרֶכֶבRE/khevthe chariotוְרֹכְבוֹ׃ve/rokh/VOand its rider

    And with thee will I break in pieces the horse and his rider; and with thee will I break in pieces the chariot and his rider;

22. 22

    וְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youאִישׁisha manוְאִשָּׁהve/ish/SHAand a womanוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youזָקֵןza/KENoldוָנָעַרva/NA/arand youthוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youבָּחוּרba/CHURthe young manוּבְתוּלָה׃u/ve/tu/LAand maiden

    With thee also will I break in pieces man and woman; and with thee will I break in pieces old and young; and with thee will I break in pieces the young man and the maid;

23. 23

    וְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youרֹעֶהro/Eshepherdוְעֶדְרוֹve/ed/ROand his flockוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youאִכָּרik/KARthe farmerוְצִמְדּוֹve/tsim/DOand his yoke of oxenוְנִפַּצְתִּיve/nip/pats/TIand I will break in piecesבְךָve/KHAwith youפַּחוֹתpa/CHOTgovernorsוּסְגָנִים׃u/se/ga/NIMand officials

    I will also break in pieces with thee the shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the husbandman and his yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.

24. 24

    וְשִׁלַּמְתִּיve/shil/lam/TIand I will repayלְבָבֶלLe/va/VELBabylonוּלְכֹלu/le/KHOLand allיוֹשְׁבֵיyosh/VEthe inhabitants ofכַשְׂדִּיםKhas/DIMthe Chaldeansאֵת־כׇּל־רָעָתָםet-kol-ra/a/TAMall their wickednessאֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּa/SHER-a/SUthat they have doneבְצִיּוֹןve/Tsiy/YONin Zionלְעֵינֵיכֶםle/e/ne/KHEMin your sightנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of Chaldea all their evil that they have done in Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.

25. 25

    הִנְנִיhin/NIbehold Iאֵלֶיךָe/LE/khaagainst youהַרharO mountainהַמַּשְׁחִיתham/mash/CHITdestroyingנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDהַמַּשְׁחִיתham/mash/CHITwhich destroysאֶת־כׇּל־הָאָרֶץet-kol-ha/A/retsall the earthוְנָטִיתִיve/na/TI/tiand I will stretch outאֶת־יָדִיet-ya/DImy handעָלֶיךָa/LE/khaagainst youוְגִלְגַּלְתִּיךָve/gil/gal/TI/khaand I will roll youמִן־הַסְּלָעִיםmin-has/se/la/IMfrom the rocksוּנְתַתִּיךָu/ne/tat/TI/khaand make youלְהַרle/HARa mountainשְׂרֵפָה׃se/re/FAburnt out

    Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.

26. 26

    וְלֹא־יִקְחוּve/LO-yik/CHUand they will not takeמִמְּךָmim/me/KHAfrom youאֶבֶןE/vena stoneלְפִנָּהle/fin/NAfor a cornerוְאֶבֶןve/E/venand a stoneלְמוֹסָדוֹתle/mo/sa/DOTfor foundationsכִּי־שִׁמְמוֹתki-shim/MOTfor desolationsעוֹלָםo/LAMperpetualתִּהְיֶהtih/YEyou will beנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    And they shall not take of thee a stone for a corner, nor a stone for foundations; but thou shalt be desolate for ever, saith the LORD.

27. 27

    שְׂאוּ־נֵסse/U-nesset up a standardבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landתִּקְעוּtik/Ublowשׁוֹפָרsho/FARthe trumpetבַּגּוֹיִםbag/go/YIMamong the nationsקַדְּשׁוּkad/de/SHUprepareעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsהַשְׁמִיעוּhash/MI/usummonעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herמַמְלְכוֹתmam/le/KHOTthe kingdoms ofאֲרָרַטA/ra/RATAraratמִנִּיMin/NIMinniוְאַשְׁכְּנָזve/Ash/ke/NAZand Ashkenazפִּקְדוּpik/DUappointעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herטִפְסָרtif/SARa marshalהַעֲלוּ־סוּסha/a/LU-susbring up horsesכְּיֶלֶקke/YE/leklike a locustסָמָר׃sa/MARbristling

    Set ye up a standard in the land, blow the trumpet among the nations, prepare the nations against her, call together against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashchenaz; appoint a captain against her; cause the horses to come up as the rough caterpillers.

28. 28

    קַדְּשׁוּkad/de/SHUprepareעָלֶיהָa/LE/haagainst herגוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsאֶת־מַלְכֵיet-mal/KHEthe kings ofמָדַיMa/DAYMediaאֶת־פַּחוֹתֶיהָet-pa/cho/TE/haits governorsוְאֶת־כׇּל־סְגָנֶיהָve/ET-kol-se/ga/NE/haand all its officialsוְאֵתve/ETandכׇּל־אֶרֶץkol-E/retsall the land ofמֶמְשַׁלְתּוֹ׃mem/shal/TOhis dominion

    Prepare against her the nations with the kings of the Medes, the captains thereof, and all the rulers thereof, and all the land of his dominion.

29. 29

    וַתִּרְעַשׁvat/tir/ASHand tremblesהָאָרֶץha/A/retsthe landוַתָּחֹלvat/ta/CHOLand writhesכִּיkiforקָמָהKA/mastandעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELagainst Babylonמַחְשְׁבוֹתmach/she/VOTthe purposes ofיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDלָשׂוּםla/SUMto makeאֶת־אֶרֶץet-E/retsland ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAa desolationמֵאֵיןme/ENwithoutיוֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVinhabitant

    And the land shall tremble and sorrow: for every purpose of the LORD shall be performed against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

30. 30

    חָדְלוּcha/de/LUhave ceasedגִבּוֹרֵיgib/bo/REmighty men ofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonלְהִלָּחֵםle/hil/la/CHEMto fightיָשְׁבוּya/she/VUthey remainבַּמְּצָדוֹתbam/me/tsa/DOTin the strongholdsנָשְׁתָהna/she/TAhas dried upגְבוּרָתָםge/vu/ra/TAMtheir strengthהָיוּha/YUthey have becomeלְנָשִׁיםle/na/SHIMlike womenהִצִּיתוּhits/TSI/tuare set on fireמִשְׁכְּנֹתֶיהָmish/ke/no/TE/haits dwellingsנִשְׁבְּרוּnish/be/RUare brokenבְרִיחֶיהָ׃ve/ri/CHE/haits bars

    The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.

    רָץratsone runnerלִקְרַאת־רָץlik/RAT-ratsto meet a runnerיָרוּץya/RUTSrunsוּמַגִּידu/mag/GIDand one messengerלִקְרַאתlik/RATto meetמַגִּידmag/GIDa messengerלְהַגִּידle/hag/GIDto declareלְמֶלֶךְle/ME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonכִּי־נִלְכְּדָהki-nil/ke/DAbecause it was capturedעִירוֹi/ROhis cityמִקָּצֶה׃mik/ka/TSEon every side

    One post shall run to meet another, and one messenger to meet another, to shew the king of Babylon that his city is taken at one end,

32. 32

    וְהַמַּעְבָּרוֹתve/ham/ma/ba/ROTand the fordsנִתְפָּשׂוּnit/PA/suare seizedוְאֶת־הָאֲגַמִּיםve/ET-ha/a/gam/MIMand the reed marshesשָׂרְפוּsa/re/FUthey have burnedבָאֵשׁva/ESHwith fireוְאַנְשֵׁיve/an/SHEand the men ofהַמִּלְחָמָהham/mil/cha/MAwarנִבְהָלוּ׃niv/HA/luare terrified

    And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with fire, and the men of war are affrighted.

    For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; The daughter of Babylon is like a threshingfloor, it is time to thresh her: yet a little while, and the time of her harvest shall come.

    (אכלנו)khalanav[אֲכָלַנִי]a/kha/LA/nihas devoured me(הממנו)hamamanav[הֲמָמַנִי]ha/ma/MA/nihe has crushed meנְבוּכַדְרֶאצַּרNe/vu/khad/re/TSARNebuchadrezzarמֶלֶךְME/lekhthe king ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylon[הִצִּיגַנִי]hits/tsi/ga/NIhe has set meכְּלִיke/LIa vesselרִיקrikempty(בלענו)valnav[בְּלָעַנִי]be/la/a/NIhe has swallowed meכַּתַּנִּיןkat/tan/NINlike a sea monsterמִלָּאmil/LAhe has filledכְרֵשׂוֹkhe/re/SOhis bellyמֵעֲדָנָיme/a/da/NAYwith my delicacies[הֱדִיחָנִי]׃he/di/CHA/nihe has rinsed me out

    Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon hath devoured me, he hath crushed me, he hath made me an empty vessel, he hath swallowed me up like a dragon, he hath filled his belly with my delicates, he hath cast me out.

35. 35

    חֲמָסִיcha/ma/SIthe violence done to meוּשְׁאֵרִיu/she/e/RIand to my fleshעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELbe on Babylonתֹּאמַרto/MARwill sayיֹשֶׁבֶתyo/SHE/vetthe inhabitant ofצִיּוֹןTsiy/YONZionוְדָמִיve/da/MIand my bloodאֶל־יֹשְׁבֵיel-yosh/VEbe on the inhabitants ofכַשְׂדִּיםKhas/DIMthe Chaldeansתֹּאמַרto/MARwill sayיְרוּשָׁלָ͏ִם׃Ye/ru/sha/LA/yimJerusalem

    The violence done to me and to my flesh be upon Babylon, shall the inhabitant of Zion say; and my blood upon the inhabitants of Chaldea, shall Jerusalem say.

36. 36

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeכֹּהkothusאָמַרa/MARsaysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDהִנְנִי־רָבhin/NI-ravbehold I will pleadאֶת־רִיבֵךְet-ri/VEKHyour caseוְנִקַּמְתִּיve/nik/kam/TIand I will avengeאֶת־נִקְמָתֵךְet-nik/ma/TEKHyour vengeanceוְהַחֲרַבְתִּיve/ha/cha/rav/TIand I will dry upאֶת־יַמָּהּet-yam/MAits seaוְהֹבַשְׁתִּיve/ho/vash/TIand make dryאֶת־מְקוֹרָהּ׃et-me/ko/RAits spring

    Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will plead thy cause, and take vengeance for thee; and I will dry up her sea, and make her springs dry.

37. 37

    וְהָיְתָהve/ha/ye/TAand will becomeבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonלְגַלִּיםle/gal/LIMheapsמְעוֹן־תַּנִּיםme/ON-tan/NIMa haunt of jackalsשַׁמָּהsham/MAa horrorוּשְׁרֵקָהu/she/re/KAand a hissingמֵאֵיןme/ENwithoutיוֹשֵׁב׃yo/SHEVinhabitant

    And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant.

38. 38

    יַחְדָּוyach/DAVtogetherכַּכְּפִרִיםkak/ke/fi/RIMlike the young lionsיִשְׁאָגוּyish/A/guthey roarנָעֲרוּna/a/RUthey growlכְּגוֹרֵיke/go/RElike cubs ofאֲרָיוֹת׃a/ra/YOTlions

    They shall roar together like lions: they shall yell as lions' whelps.

39. 39

    בְּחֻמָּםbe/chum/MAMwhen they are heatedאָשִׁיתa/SHITI will prepareאֶת־מִשְׁתֵּיהֶםet-mish/te/HEMtheir feastsוְהִשְׁכַּרְתִּיםve/hish/kar/TIMand make them drunkלְמַעַןle/MA/anso thatיַעֲלֹזוּya/a/LO/zuthey may rejoiceוְיָשְׁנוּve/ya/she/NUand sleepשְׁנַת־עוֹלָםshe/NAT-o/LAMa perpetual sleepוְלֹאve/LOand notיָקִיצוּya/KI/tsuwakeנְאֻםne/UMsaysיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

40. 40

    אוֹרִידֵםo/ri/DEMI will bring them downכְּכָרִיםke/kha/RIMlike lambsלִטְבוֹחַlit/VO/achto the slaughterכְּאֵילִיםke/e/LIMlike ramsעִם־עַתּוּדִים׃im-at/tu/DIMwith male goats

    I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with he goats.

41. 41

    אֵיךְekhhowנִלְכְּדָהnil/ke/DAis takenשֵׁשַׁךְShe/SHAKHSheshachוַתִּתָּפֵשׂvat/tit/ta/FESand seizedתְּהִלַּתte/hil/LATthe praise ofכׇּל־הָאָרֶץkol-ha/A/retsall the earthאֵיךְekhhowהָיְתָהha/ye/TAhas becomeלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAa horrorבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonבַּגּוֹיִם׃bag/go/YIMamong the nations

    How is Sheshach taken! and how is the praise of the whole earth surprised! how is Babylon become an astonishment among the nations!

42. 42

    עָלָהa/LAhas come upעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELover Babylonהַיָּםhay/YAMthe seaבַּהֲמוֹןba/ha/MONwith the multitude ofגַּלָּיוgal/LAYVits wavesנִכְסָתָה׃nikh/SA/tashe is covered

    The sea is come up upon Babylon: she is covered with the multitude of the waves thereof.

43. 43

    הָיוּha/YUhave becomeעָרֶיהָa/RE/haits citiesלְשַׁמָּהle/sham/MAa horrorאֶרֶץE/retsa land ofצִיָּהtsiy/YAdroughtוַעֲרָבָהva/a/ra/VAand desertאֶרֶץE/retsa landלֹא־יֵשֵׁבlo-ye/SHEVdwells notבָּהֵןba/HENin themכׇּל־אִישׁkol-ishany manוְלֹא־יַעֲבֹרve/LO-ya/a/VORnor passesבָּהֵןba/HENin themבֶּן־אָדָם׃ben-a/DAMson of man

    Her cities are a desolation, a dry land, and a wilderness, a land wherein no man dwelleth, neither doth any son of man pass thereby.

44. 44

    וּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIand I will punishעַל־בֵּלal-BelBelבְּבָבֶלbe/Va/VELin Babylonוְהֹצֵאתִיve/ho/tse/TIand I will bring outאֶת־בִּלְעוֹet-bil/Owhat he has swallowedמִפִּיוmip/PIVfrom his mouthוְלֹא־יִנְהֲרוּve/LO-yin/ha/RUand will no longer streamאֵלָיוe/LAYVto himעוֹדodagainגּוֹיִםgo/YIMnationsגַּם־חוֹמַתgam-cho/MATeven the wall ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonנָפָלָה׃na/FA/lahas fallen

    And I will punish Bel in Babylon, and I will bring forth out of his mouth that which he hath swallowed up: and the nations shall not flow together any more unto him: yea, the wall of Babylon shall fall.

45. 45

    צְאוּtse/Ugo outמִתּוֹכָהּmit/to/KHAfrom its midstעַמִּיam/MImy peopleוּמַלְּטוּu/mal/le/TUand saveאִישׁisheachאֶת־נַפְשׁוֹet-naf/SHOhis lifeמֵחֲרוֹןme/cha/RONfrom the fierceאַף־יְהֹוָה׃af-Adonaithe anger of the LORD

    My people, go ye out of the midst of her, and deliver ye every man his soul from the fierce anger of the LORD.

46. 46

    וּפֶן־יֵרַךְu/FEN-ye/RAKHand lest faintלְבַבְכֶםle/vav/KHEMyour heartsוְתִירְאוּve/ti/re/Uand you fearבַּשְּׁמוּעָהbash/she/mu/Aat the reportהַנִּשְׁמַעַתhan/nish/MA/atthat is heardבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוּבָאu/VAfor will comeבַשָּׁנָהvash/sha/NAone yearהַשְּׁמוּעָהhash/she/mu/Aa rumorוְאַחֲרָיוve/a/cha/RAYVand after thatבַּשָּׁנָהbash/sha/NAin another yearהַשְּׁמוּעָהhash/she/mu/Aa rumorוְחָמָסve/cha/MASand violenceבָּאָרֶץba/A/retsin the landוּמֹשֵׁלu/mo/SHELand rulerעַל־מֹשֵׁל׃al-mo/SHELagainst ruler

    And lest your heart faint, and ye fear for the rumour that shall be heard in the land; a rumour shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumour, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

47. 47

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהִנֵּהhin/NEbeholdיָמִיםya/MIMthe daysבָּאִיםba/IMare comingוּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIwhen I will punishעַל־פְּסִילֵיal-pe/si/LEthe idols ofבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonוְכׇל־אַרְצָהּve/KHOL-ar/TSAand her whole landתֵּבוֹשׁte/VOSHwill be ashamedוְכׇל־חֲלָלֶיהָve/KHOL-cha/la/LE/haand all her slainיִפְּלוּyip/pe/LUwill fallבְתוֹכָהּ׃ve/to/KHAin her midst

    Therefore, behold, the days come, that I will do judgment upon the graven images of Babylon: and her whole land shall be confounded, and all her slain shall fall in the midst of her.

48. 48

    וְרִנְּנוּve/rin/ne/NUthen will shout for joyעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELover Babylonשָׁמַיִםsha/MA/yimthe heavensוָאָרֶץva/A/retsand the earthוְכֹלve/KHOLand allאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthat isבָּהֶםba/HEMin themכִּיkiforמִצָּפוֹןmits/tsa/FONfrom the northיָבוֹא־לָהּya/VO-lawill come to herהַשּׁוֹדְדִיםhash/shod/DIMthe destroyersנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    Then the heaven and the earth, and all that is therein, shall sing for Babylon: for the spoilers shall come unto her from the north, saith the LORD.

49. 49

    גַּם־בָּבֶלGam-ba/VELBabylon alsoלִנְפֹּלlin/POLmust fallחַלְלֵיchal/LEO slain ofיִשְׂרָאֵלYis/ra/ELIsraelגַּם־לְבָבֶלgam-Le/va/VELas for Babylonנָפְלוּna/fe/LUhave fallenחַלְלֵיchal/LEthe slain ofכׇל־הָאָרֶץ׃khol-ha/A/retsall the earth

    As Babylon hath caused the slain of Israel to fall, so at Babylon shall fall the slain of all the earth.

50. 50

    פְּלֵטִיםpe/le/TIMfugitivesמֵחֶרֶבme/CHE/revof the swordהִלְכוּhil/KHUgoאַל־תַּעֲמֹדוּal-ta/a/MO/dudo not stand stillזִכְרוּzikh/RUrememberמֵרָחוֹקme/ra/CHOKfrom farאֶת־יְהֹוָהet-Adonaithe LORDוִירוּשָׁלַ͏ִםVi/ru/sha/LA/yimand Jerusalemתַּעֲלֶהta/a/LElet comeעַל־לְבַבְכֶם׃al-le/vav/KHEMinto your mind

    Ye that have escaped the sword, go away, stand not still: remember the LORD afar off, and let Jerusalem come into your mind.

51. 51

    בֹּשְׁנוּBOSH/nuwe are ashamedכִּי־שָׁמַעְנוּki-sha/MA/nufor we have heardחֶרְפָּהcher/PAreproachכִּסְּתָהkis/se/TAhas coveredכְלִמָּהkhe/lim/MAshameפָּנֵינוּpa/NE/nuour facesכִּיkiforבָּאוּBA/uhave comeזָרִיםza/RIMstrangersעַל־מִקְדְּשֵׁיal-mik/de/SHEinto the sanctuaries ofבֵּיתbetthe house ofיְהֹוָה׃Adonaithe LORD

    We are confounded, because we have heard reproach: shame hath covered our faces: for strangers are come into the sanctuaries of the LORD's house.

52. 52

    לָכֵןla/KHENthereforeהִנֵּה־יָמִיםhin/NE-ya/MIMbehold the daysבָּאִיםba/IMare comingנְאֻם־יְהֹוָהne/UM-Adonaisays the LORDוּפָקַדְתִּיu/fa/kad/TIwhen I will punishעַל־פְּסִילֶיהָal-pe/si/LE/haher idolsוּבְכׇל־אַרְצָהּu/ve/KHOL-ar/TSAand through all her landיֶאֱנֹקye/e/NOKwill groanחָלָל׃cha/LALthe wounded

    Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her graven images: and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

53. 53

    כִּי־תַעֲלֶהki-ta/a/LEthough should mount upבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonהַשָּׁמַיִםhash/sha/MA/yimto the heavensוְכִיve/KHIand thoughתְבַצֵּרte/vats/TSERshe should fortifyמְרוֹםme/ROMthe height ofעֻזָּהּuz/ZAits strengthמֵאִתִּיme/it/TIfrom meיָבֹאוּya/VO/uwill comeשֹׁדְדִיםshod/DIMdestroyersלָהּlato herנְאֻם־יְהֹוָה׃ne/UM-Adonaisays the LORD

    Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.

54. 54

    קוֹלkolthe sound ofזְעָקָהze/a/KAa cryמִבָּבֶלmib/Ba/VELfrom Babylonוְשֶׁבֶרve/SHE/verand of destructionגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatמֵאֶרֶץme/E/retsfrom the land ofכַּשְׂדִּים׃kaS/DIMthe Chaldeans

    A sound of a cry cometh from Babylon, and great destruction from the land of the Chaldeans:

55. 55

    כִּי־שֹׁדֵדki-sho/DEDfor is destroyingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDאֶת־בָּבֶלet-Ba/VELBabylonוְאִבַּדve/ib/BADand will silenceמִמֶּנָּהmim/MEN/nafrom itקוֹלkolthe voiceגָּדוֹלga/DOLgreatוְהָמוּve/ha/MUand roarגַלֵּיהֶםgal/le/HEMtheir wavesכְּמַיִםke/MA/yimlike watersרַבִּיםrab/BIMmanyנִתַּןnit/TANis raisedשְׁאוֹןshe/ONthe noise ofקוֹלָם׃ko/LAMtheir voices

    Because the LORD hath spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:

56. 56

    כִּיkiforבָאvahas comeעָלֶיהָa/LE/haon herעַל־בָּבֶלal-Ba/VELon Babylonשׁוֹדֵדsho/DEDthe spoilerוְנִלְכְּדוּve/nil/ke/DUand are takenגִּבּוֹרֶיהָgib/bo/RE/haits warriorsחִתְּתָהchit/te/TAare brokenקַשְּׁתוֹתָםkash/she/to/TAMtheir bowsכִּיkiforאֵלelis a God ofגְּמֻלוֹתge/mu/LOTrecompenseיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDשַׁלֵּםshal/LEMrepayיְשַׁלֵּם׃ye/shal/LEMHe will repay

    Because the spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.

57. 57

    וְהִשְׁכַּרְתִּיve/hish/kar/TIand I will make drunkשָׂרֶיהָsa/RE/haits princesוַחֲכָמֶיהָva/cha/kha/ME/haand her wise menפַּחוֹתֶיהָpa/cho/TE/haits governorsוּסְגָנֶיהָu/se/ga/NE/haand its officialsוְגִבּוֹרֶיהָve/gib/bo/RE/haand its warriorsוְיָשְׁנוּve/ya/she/NUand they will sleepשְׁנַת־עוֹלָםshe/NAT-o/LAMa perpetual sleepוְלֹאve/LOand notיָקִיצוּya/KI/tsuwakeנְאֻם־הַמֶּלֶךְne/UM-ham/ME/lekhsays the kingיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsשְׁמוֹ׃she/MOis His name

    And I will make drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

58. 58

    כֹּה־אָמַרko-a/MARthus saysיְהֹוָהAdonaithe LORDצְבָאוֹתtse/va/OTof hostsחֹמוֹתcho/MOTthe walls ofבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonהָרְחָבָהha/re/cha/VAbroadעַרְעֵרar/ERlaid bareתִּתְעַרְעָרtit/ar/ARwill be laid bareוּשְׁעָרֶיהָu/she/a/RE/haand its gatesהַגְּבֹהִיםhag/ge/vo/HIMhighבָּאֵשׁba/ESHby fireיִצַּתּוּyits/TSAT/tuwill be burnedוְיִגְעוּve/yig/Uand will laborעַמִּיםam/MIMpeoplesבְּדֵי־רִיקbe/DE-rikfor nothingוּלְאֻמִּיםu/le/um/MIMand the nationsבְּדֵי־אֵשׁbe/DE-eshonly for fireוְיָעֵפוּ׃ve/ya/E/fuand will weary themselves

    Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the folk in the fire, and they shall be weary.

59. 59

    הַדָּבָרhad/da/VARthe wordאֲשֶׁר־צִוָּהa/SHER-tsiv/VAthat commandedיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahהַנָּבִיאhan/na/VIthe prophetאֶת־שְׂרָיָהet-Se/ra/YASeraiahבֶן־נֵרִיָּהven-Ne/riy/YAson of Neriahבֶּן־מַחְסֵיָהben-Mach/se/YAson of Mahseiahבְּלֶכְתּוֹbe/lekh/TOwhen he wentאֶת־צִדְקִיָּהוּet-Tsid/kiy/YA/huwith Zedekiahמֶלֶךְ־יְהוּדָהME/lekh-Ye/hu/DAking of Judahבָּבֶלba/VELto Babylonבִּשְׁנַתbish/NATin the year ofהָרְבִעִיתha/re/vi/ITthe fourthלְמׇלְכוֹle/mol/KHOof his reignוּשְׂרָיָהu/Se/ra/YAand Seraiahשַׂרsarthe captain ofמְנוּחָה׃me/nu/CHAthe resting place

    The word which Jeremiah the prophet commanded Seraiah the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, when he went with Zedekiah the king of Judah into Babylon in the fourth year of his reign. And this Seraiah was a quiet prince.

60. 60

    וַיִּכְתֹּבvay/yikh/TOVand wroteיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahאֵת־כׇּל־הָרָעָהet-kol-ha/ra/Aall the evilאֲשֶׁר־תָּבוֹאa/SHER-ta/VOthat would comeאֶל־בָּבֶלel-Ba/VELon Babylonאֶל־סֵפֶרel-SE/ferin a bookאֶחָדe/CHADoneאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּהha/EL/letheseהַכְּתֻבִיםhak/ke/tu/VIMthat are writtenאֶל־בָּבֶל׃el-Ba/VELagainst Babylon

    So Jeremiah wrote in a book all the evil that should come upon Babylon, even all these words that are written against Babylon.

61. 61

    וַיֹּאמֶרvay/YO/merand saidיִרְמְיָהוּYir/me/YA/huJeremiahאֶל־שְׂרָיָהel-Se/ra/YAto Seraiahכְּבֹאֲךָke/vo/a/KHAwhen you come toבָבֶלVa/VELBabylonוְרָאִיתָve/ra/I/tathen seeוְקָרָאתָve/ka/RA/taand readאֵת־כׇּל־הַדְּבָרִיםet-kol-had/de/va/RIMall the wordsהָאֵלֶּה׃ha/EL/lethese

    And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When thou comest to Babylon, and shalt see, and shalt read all these words;

62. 62

    וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayיְהֹוָהAdonaiO LORDאַתָּהat/TAYouדִבַּרְתָּdib/BAR/tahave spokenאֶל־הַמָּקוֹםel-ham/ma/KOMagainst the placeהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisלְהַכְרִיתוֹle/hakh/ri/TOto cut it offלְבִלְתִּיle/vil/TIso that notהֱיוֹת־בּוֹhe/YOT-bowill be in itיוֹשֵׁבyo/SHEVanyone dwellingלְמֵאָדָםle/me/a/DAMneither manוְעַד־בְּהֵמָהve/AD-be/he/MAnor beastכִּי־שִׁמְמוֹתki-shim/MOTbut desolationsעוֹלָםo/LAMperpetualתִּהְיֶה׃tih/YEit will be

    Then shalt thou say, O LORD, thou hast spoken against this place, to cut it off, that none shall remain in it, neither man nor beast, but that it shall be desolate for ever.

63. 63

    וְהָיָהve/ha/YAand it shall beכְּכַלֹּתְךָke/khal/lot/KHAwhen you have finishedלִקְרֹאlik/ROto readאֶת־הַסֵּפֶרet-has/SE/ferthe bookהַזֶּהhaz/ZEthisתִּקְשֹׁרtik/SHORtieעָלָיוa/LAYVto itאֶבֶןE/vena stoneוְהִשְׁלַכְתּוֹve/hish/lakh/TOand throw itאֶל־תּוֹךְel-tokhinto the midst ofפְּרָת׃Pe/RATthe Euphrates

    And it shall be, when thou hast made an end of reading this book, that thou shalt bind a stone to it, and cast it into the midst of Euphrates:

64. 64

    וְאָמַרְתָּve/a/mar/TAand sayכָּכָהKA/khathusתִּשְׁקַעtish/KAwill sinkבָּבֶלBa/VELBabylonוְלֹא־תָקוּםve/LO-ta/KUMand will not riseמִפְּנֵיmip/pe/NEbecause ofהָרָעָהha/ra/Athe evilאֲשֶׁרa/SHERthatאָנֹכִיa/no/KHIIמֵבִיאme/VIwill bringעָלֶיהָa/LE/haon herוְיָעֵפוּve/ya/E/fuand they will weary themselvesעַד־הֵנָּהad-HEN/nathus far areדִּבְרֵיdiv/REthe words ofיִרְמְיָהוּ׃Yir/me/YA/huJeremiah
